The stunning cottage has been done to the highest standards and is an amazing place to stay? we would recommend it to anyone , we even said we could live there . It is the middle of nowhere so as long as you like being isolated its perfect

This was our 3rd time visiting the Lake District and this was by far the best cottage weve stayed in. The private driveway makes parking pleasant with easy access to the cottage. The cottage looks as beautiful inside as it does on the outside. Beautifully decorated with homely touches throughout the cottage. Very clean and spacious. A well equipped kitchen with everything you need. We were welcomed with a hamper with all the essentials milk butter eggs bread and delicious homemade brownies best Ive ever had!. The owners were kind and very helpful. Our favourite features was the log burner which was perfect for rainy days cosy nights in and the bathroom was lush with a stunning roller top bath. Couldnt fault a thing. Would love to come back.
This is a lovely cottage cosy, with lots of very thoughtful touches including plenty of lamps, blankets, cushions etc. It has a very wellequipped kitchen, comfortable furniture and very good facilities including TV. Really nice bathroom and great to have robes and slippers provided. The outside space is good, although the payoff of having such a high level of privacy is the lack of a view due to the high walls. We found it to be a suntrap indeed, a parasol or other shade would be welcome and the hot tub is fantastic. It's in a great location, a short drive to the lovely village of Haverigg and a mile and a half's walk across the fields to Silecroft Beach. Overall we're really happy with our stay and the owners were available without being at all intrusive.

A stunning holiday cottage, perfect in every way. We received a lovely welcome hamper, with bread, butter, jam, eggs and amazing homemade brownies best I've ever had. A lovely welcome card from the family. There was a beautiful vase of white roses on the dining table. Gorgeous products to use in the bathroom and a handwash in the kitchen. The cottage is lovely throughout, furnishings, lighting, everything you need in the kitchen. Everything is perfect! Definitely, our happy place! A big thanks to Toni and Mike for a lovely holiday!
Such a stunning cottage. We were welcomed with a lovely homemade welcome pack by the hosts Toni and Mike, which included the most amazing brownies. The hot tub was magical, at night when the sky was clear you sit and star gaze in the tub. Location was great, close to the sea and not far to travel in to the Lakes. We spent a lot of time in Coniston, we would highly recommend hiking Old Man of Coniston. The cottage was the perfect base for our week in the Lakes. We will definitely be visiting again in the future.
Samantha
We had such a lovely holiday. Cottage in the hill was the perfect place to stay. Everything we thought it would be. The owners are so lovely and welcoming and give you advice for any trips or walks and answer any questions.
Gorgeous cottage with attentive but unobtrusive hosts. Lovely welcome pack with home made treats. Hot tub is an added bonus even with the unpredictable Lakes weather! Had a couple of issues with arrivalsignage from main road could be better & key safe was very difficult to open. Owners replaced the key safe promptly after reporting the problem. A great base for exploring the western lakes & the coastal area. Train service good to coastal villages & towns. Good walking straight from cottage but beware busy A road with very fast traffic & no pavement. A great stay for either relaxing or exploring whatever the weather .thanks.
Susanne
Very well equipped, spotless clean, lovely welcome hamper with delicous home made jam. We can highly recommend this accomodation!
Caroline
Excellent property. First rate design. Very comfortable and well equipped. Owners extremely helpful. A delight!
Details needing updated as local pub was closed on our arrival and after walking ... Details needing updated as local pub was closed on our arrival and after walking there was disappointing on our second attempt it didn't open till six so again no pint they' re loss had to be quick walkers to do the beach in time mentioned
The Cottage in the Hill was decorated to a very high standard with lots of nice touches, and the owners had left lots of goodies to welcome us to the property. The gingerbread was to die for. The hot tub was an ideal way to relax and finish off the day. The location was quiet but within easy reach of local attractions such as Ravenglass Railway and Muncaster Castle. Silecroft beach was well worth a visit, especially during the heatwave.

Amazing and relaxing perfect
Beautiful cottage with everything we needed. It all felt so luxurious and yet homely and cozy too. The hot tub was wonderful and the owners so friendly and generous with their welcome goodies. Would recommend it to anyone without hesitation.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend. The thought thats gone into everything was amazing. Even down to the treats when we arrived, the games for a night in and the helpful leaflets. The bed was extremely comfy and just generally one of the best we have stayed in. We hope to return Xx
The Cottage in the hill is a lovely place to stay. There are local walks from the cottage and places to visit in the western lakes area. Beautiful decorative touches make staying in a pleasure after short or long days out. Mike and Toni made us so welcome in their Happy Place. The cottage courtyard is private, perfect for meals outside and the hot tub.
Cottage in the hill was more than was described, it was beautiful, every thing you could ever wish for. our hosts couldn't do enough for us, the information book was very informative. our only comment would be is to warn guests of the steps, my husband is semi disabled and struggled with those, although our host did help us with our luggage.
We had a great stay at The cottage in the Hill, everything about it was excellent, the property is well presented, clean and comfortable with everything you need for a relaxing stay.
We absolutely loved Cottage in the hill. It was beautifully decorated and had everything we could need. All the little touches made our stay perfect. We will definitely be booking again.
We had such a lovely stay at Cottage in the hill. Lovely interior, comfortable and private. You are a little distance from the main sights but we really enjoyed climbing the local black Coombe and taking a trip to wast water. Thank you for a lovely stay which was made better by the beautiful brownies and relaxing hot tub! Would 100 recommend.

We have just returned from a weeks honeymoon at cottage in the hill. We have had the best time. The cottage was done to a high standard. We loved the welcome treats so thoughtful and a personal touch by the owners. We will definitely be returning and I will be recommending. We drove out most days to visit different places and then would finish the day in the hot tub! I would recommend visiting Cartmel it was a beautiful little village and Chesters by the river for a lovely walk.
The Cottage in The Hill was a perfect honeymoon getaway for me and my partner. Although we had to drive to visit major attractions and local villages if wishing to eat out, the location was ideal for us. It was peaceful and surrounded by both beautiful coastline and dramatic mountains. The cottage itself was extremely well kept and of very high standard with extra comforts such as under floor heating throughout, a log burner, SMART TV and a jacuzzi. Homemade brownies were left on arrival as well other goodies made on the local farm. The owners were fantastic, being at hand instantly with any issuesquestions.
Miriam
Some lovely welcome touches were greatly appreciated after a long journey from Cornwall. Beautifully appointed cottage with everything you need and more a real home from home. Close to lovely beaches and great base to explore the wider area. Dont be put off by having to park on the road it is only an access road to other homes, not the main road only 30 from cottage gate, with plenty of room to park.
Lovely cottage, well presented with all of the required quality equipment and fittings with some added extra's. Owners had focused on the detail when fitting out and some lovely extra's and welcome goodies!! they were also on site to ensure the hot tub was looked after.

South Lakes Safari Zoo - LA12 0LU

This is an amazing Cumbria attraction well known locally as well as nationally for how close you can get to the animals.  Described as the most interactive animal park in Europe it's well worth a visit if you are staying in the area.  Open from April to end October some of the highlights are the tigers, penguins, bears, hippos and rhinos.  At 2pm during certain seasons it's feeding time so don't forget to plan your day around this so you can watch the animals enjoying their feed.  Look out for seasonal events such as Halloween Zoo Boo (free entry for kids in fancy dress) and The Magic of Christmas.

Rydal Mount & Gardens - LA22 9LU

Rydal Mount & Gardens are wonderfully situated between Lake Windermere and Rydal Water offering breathtaking scenery. The home of William Wordsworth from 1813 - 1850 the grand home is now lived in by the poets descendents but parts of the house and grounds are open to the public. Why not take a guided tour and see the rooms where many of the famous poems were written. The gardens are beautiful at all times of the year but in the summer offer a spectacular display of colour. There is also a gallery and a tearoom. Discounts are available for group bookings.

Lakeland Wildlife Oasis - LA6 1JH
about 23 Miles
Located in the Milnthorpe area of Cumbria we love this local attraction.  With an eclectic mix of fascinating wildlife and hands on displays this centre is educational as well as fun.  You can wander around at leisure admiring the exhibits which range from chameleons to computers. Some of the most threatened species are kept at the park as part if international breeding programmes.  Check out their website for the latest opening times and admission costs which are great value for money.  There are discounts for pre-booked parties of 12 or more.
Ullswater Steamers - CA11 0US
about 26 Miles
This is an award winning Lake District attraction and they have been operating cruisers on Lake Ullswater for over 150 years.  There is no better way to explore the lakes than on water and you could even combine a cruise with a spectacular walk.  For great days out in this region then this attraction is highly recommended and will appeal to couples as well as families.  Corporate groups are also well catered for.
