Rhianfa Cottage Reviews

I would like to exclaim how absolutely beautiful Rhianfa Cottage was. We were looking for a cottage to relax and get away from it all after my dads passing. It was more than expected and we are already planning to come back maybe more than once as soon as possible! The house was a home from home and the owner was absolutely lovely and more than happy to help us. We cannot thank him enough. We would also like to compliment the decor and facilities which were outstanding. Thankyou to the host and to this stunning property. We will be back!
Samantha
This is a lovely little cottage and it had everything we needed for our short stay. The issue was that it wasnt very clean. The grill pan in the oven had not been cleaned and was very greasy, there were several glasses that had to be washed before use. There were a lot of cobwebs around the property and it was very dusty. Think it needs a general overhaul and deep clean to restore its quaint character.
Lovely property and we have already booked for best year, thank you
Although the property is in a beautiful location and the facilities offered are adequate for a really lovely stay it was spoiled by the maintenance and cleanliness of the bathrooms and kitchen especially the cooker which requires immediate attention as does the cookware . The properly doesnt appear as advertised as the garden furnishings are very tired and the garden overgrown and unkempt and value for money is very poor as we have stayed with Sykes previously and had a lot better for a lot less

This property is blessed with lots of great areas of outdoor space for friends and families to get together or for even finding space on your own. The gardens were dog secure and the only down side was the main road, its quite a quick rather than busy road but for me this didnt stop us enjoying our week. Just needed to take care with pets and kids when exiting the front gate. The inside space was perfect for our family and maintained to a really good standard. All of us 5 who stayed agreed that we wouldnt hesitate to book again when holidaying in the area.

The cottage is lovely, a great location and perfectly placed for exploring Anglesey. The bedding, towels and bathrooms were perfectly clean, we just felt that the living room and kitchen needed a good deep clean, there was a lot of dust! We found a lot of dog hair and dog treats on the floor as well. This wouldnt stop us staying again though, the view alone from the hot tub more than made up for a bit of mess.
The household be lovely but it desperately needs a deep clean! We had to complain to owner about shower overflowing and big dead flies in bedding drapes. To be honest we nearly went straight back home on 1st day. The washer and dishwasher stunk we put the washer on 4 2 empty cycles all of cleaner and lenor but the dishwasher was unusuable

Rating 05 SERIOUS ISSUES NOT RESOLVED BY EITHER THE PROPERTY OWNER OR SYKES. AVOID! The cottage is simply not clean and hasnt been maintained properly since it was initially restored. There is mould in the showers and kitchen cupboards, a gap in the main door, and the upstairs shower doesnt drain correctly, causing water to pool in the tray. Various reviews have highlighted these issues in the past, so it is disappointing that the owner hasnt addressed them. The garden, although lovely and the hot tub is a nice feature, is overgrown, making it challenging to use the facilities. The outdoor table and chairs are unusable. There was a significant amount of dust on all ornaments, and the bedroom curtains were inconsistentsome blackouts, some not in the same room making it difficult to sleep as it got light by 5 am. The advert suggests the property has an open fire, which is untrue it is an electric fire. While the location and views are beautiful, we did not get value for money. I would seriously ask Sykes whether they should continue advertising this property until all issues are resolved. Unfortunately the Sykes customer service team have now been sat on my complaints for 2 months, and Melissa is now refusing to respond to me. I will be perusing a charge back via my credit card company.

A quirky and deceptively spacious cottage located between Menai and Beaumaris. The garden area is on three levels with spectacular views across the Menai Strait. The cottage had a well equipped kitchen and the welcome hamper on arrival was a very nice touch. This is a great base from which to explore the island of Anglesey. There is a hotel Chateau Rhianfa directly opposite with bar and restaurant and another pubhotel, The Gazelle a short walk down the hill. After exploring the beaches and coves it was nice to return to the cottage and enjoy the hottub whilst taking in the views. Highly recommended.
Nice cottage with lovely views of Menai Straights. Garden area is enclosed so safe for dogs with steps leading up to the hot tub and outside bar area. It is on a very noisy and busy road. It was light very early and the cottage could benefit from better black out blindscurtains. Great facilities but looking a bit tired, some attention to detail as there were some cobwebs in the cottage. Very nice welcome hamper although fresh coffee in the pack but not cafetiere so we had to buy one. Also no hair dryer in the property. It was our first time to Anglesey and will definitely be back.
We really enjoyed our stay at the cottage, the views were amazing and the welcome basket and Easter Egg with fizz was a wonderful touch, we did feel the cottage needed a little TLC especially the kitchen, the sink is too far forward which meant you had to lean over the worktop to wash dishes etc. Which means getting wet a lot, tbh whole kitchen needs an update as it is looking tired, although I would like to point out that if some updates were done this property would be spectacular as I'm sure it once was when it was renovated, however, we would come back as it is a lovely cottage in a great location and we had everything we needed, thank you, we had a great Easter break.

My worst holiday ever Wosp inside the property paint peeling of . .. we left the same day as my partner is allergic... Owner sent somebody to look at the problem but the person been bit rude not pleasant at all looking at us like there is no problem at all. There was a lot of wosp outside under the gutter so they must have a nest close but again this person don't even listen us look around for couple of minutes without any explanation or solution ... so we just left .... lost money and time... luckily we found another's last minute property but we spent twice more than we planned . Want recommend this property to my enemy... please avoid
Thank you for a great week in your beautiful cottage. The welcoming gifts were amazing! Weve stayed in a lot of cottages over the years, but the kids said this was the best one yet!
Very good offroad parking, right by the gate of the property. Property is right by the main road but traffic didnt bother us at all might not be for everybody though. For good weather, plenty of outdoor seating areas with superb views over the straits and beyond. Ideally situated to access travel to all areas of the Island and mainland attractions. Never been to such a well equipped holiday cottage. Only thing I would say is that it would probably be a bit cosy for 6 adults and pets and no wifi may put some people off.
A lovely relaxing cottage, with spectacular views. We really enjoyed our stay.
This cosy cottage has beautiful views and a wonderful location. Great selection of treats left for our arrival and the cottage is equipped with everything you could need. The house does need a deep clean and is a little tired.
Nicholas
Lovely place to stay with beautiful views. Everything you needed was provided .Didnt want to go home.

We've just returned from a few nights away at the cottage for a friend's birthday and absolutely loved it. There were six of us, and the cottage provided plenty of room, with three double rooms unlike most which have bunk beds or pull outs but say they fit six people and two bathrooms one of which was an en suite. We arrived to a lovely hamper including chocolates, prosecco and a number of other goodies including jammie dodgers, which was great for my girlfriend who's vegan I've seen people complaining that there's no WiFi, but to be honest it was quite peaceful and most of us had signal around the property anyway. The hot tub fit the six of us in no problem and the garden and undercover snug were beautiful. It does take quiet a while for the water to warm up, so don't expect to get in the night of your arrival, but once it does its very relaxing. It's about 5 minutes drive into Menai where there are plenty of pubs and cafes. The Green Olive was our favourite because it was fully vegan and delicious All in all, we'd definitely go back again for another visit and further exploration of the beautiful area!
Lorraine
Amazing place nice touches with welcome pack and Prosecco and chocolates the garden area is lovely with lots of seating area at top by hot tub is a sun trap with amazing views cannot wait to return.
Fantastic welcome with Chocolates & Prosecco & other goodies! Beautiful cottage in great setting. Could have done with wifi , but overall excellent.

The location was perfect and the cottage lived up to our expectations we had a lovely break. Beautiful garden and hot tub in a perfect location overlooking the sea , very pretty in the evening as its lit up subtly. A lovely little sheltered hide away provided to with blankets and visions we sat drinking cocktails. Thank you , we will return. AnneMarie Lancs

Beautiful setting, cottage & garden shame the weather was so atrocious but enjoyed just chilling, cooking & reading. Would love to go back when the weather is better!
Stuart
Great time. Well laid out garden although a bit steep if you have walking issues. Perfect position to travel around the island. Waking up to great views across the straits were lovely. Parking a bit tight but manageable. Thank you.

What a gem of a cottage! My family and I stayed at Rhianfa Cottage for a week over Christmas. For the first time in 37 years, I have been away for Christmas and not in the family home, I couldn't have asked for anything better. A lovely homely feel and STUNNING views! Glass of bucks fizz Christmas morning from the hot hub looking over the Menia strait was just fabulous. Very clean cottage, a lovely unexpected welcome hamper on arrival, and allround a fabulous time. The only downside was no wifi and the TV was very small yet we got on with it and it didn't affect our stay in any way. I would have NO hesitation to recommend this cottage to EVERYONE! Book it as you won't be disappointed!
Absolutely beautiful cottage. Gorgeous location. Fabulous views. Welcome hamper was an unexpected surprise and a lovely touch. Arriving to find the door wide open with the keys in the lock was a bit disconcerting.
The property had all the amenities to make it fantastic, but sadly the cleanliness really let it down. Surface cleaned only I'd assume as there were cobwebs and dust all over the place, fake flowers with years of dust on them, pictures, mirrors the same. Internet didn't work either, and the remote for the electric fire was missing so couldn't use that either. The mattress in the main room also has 2 huge dips where you sleep so it's not the most comfortable bed. A real shame as the location, view and amenities of the property had been let down by a lack of care to show it off to its best.
A lovely cottage with wonderful views from the hot tub and the plenty of seating areas around the really pretty gardens. The upstairs rooms were very spacious and beautifully decorated but the bedroom downstairs was quite small and we had nowhere to store our clothes... Having said that, it was quite comfortable and it was handy to have the ensuite loo and shower room. The kitchen was well equipped and the lounge was very cosy and comfortable. The owner left a very generous welcome pack which was a lovely surprise.
Lianne
We were absolutely thrown away at how stunning this cottage was. Beautiful gardens and the views are amazing. Hot tub location and little wooden hut up there was amazing. Lots of little details like blankets and hot water bottles were so lovely. The only downside is the cottage would benefit from some wifi as i was with my teenage daughters and they drove me mad haha. We were left a hamper on arrival and some Prosecco and wine ! So so lovely. Im thinking of booking again for next year. Its a beautiful cottage and it had everything we needed and more.
Daniel
We were pleasantly surprised at how lovely the cottage was as we read a few reviews that nearly put us off booking it! Its a beautiful place where the cottage is situated, the views are amazing and we recommend taking some binoculars so you can nosey at the boats that pass by. We were a family of four plus a dog and there was ample room inside and outside, the hot tub is in an ideal place to relax and watch the world go by. There was a fabulous hamper of goodies plus wine on our arrival which was lovely. Its near the lovely town of Beaumaris which is full of nice cafes and shops etc, the pier was very popular for crabbing. The one thing we feel would be a big improvement would be blinds on the Velux windows in each bedroom as it was so light in the morning waking us up early. The two upstairs bedrooms are really nice, nice big beds and lots of room. The downstairs bedroom not nearly as nice and did smell a bit musty but it was ok for one person as a small room. Additionally the TV was very small and not a great picture on it, however it made us read more and not watch as much tv so it was a positive in a way. The living room is really comfortable and seemed to have a new set of couches which were nice and comfy. All in all we would stay here again as in such a great spot and the views are wonderful.
Gorgeous place, close to lots of amazing places. Lovely gardens, full of nterest and plenty of places to look out on to the amazing views. Thank you for the complimentary fruit, chocolate and coffee etc, a lovely touch. Peter was super helpful if we needed anything and easy to contact. We would have loved a coffee machine or a bigger cafetire. It was a shame the wii fi was not working as we all had a bit of workstudy to do., The rooms get light very early so an eye mask might be worth taking. Overall a lovely stay in a beautiful place. Thank you
Olivia
A beautiful little cottage with stunning views. We arrived for our stay to a lovely welcome hamper, bottle of bubbles and some chocolates. Each room was decorated lovely and had its own character. We did look around but there wasnt any instructions comments left in the property which I think wouldve been useful as we didnt know the area and with the property not having WiFi I could look things up. Our first night was lovely and the additional touches of fairy lights in the garden were really great. We stayed in the master bedroom at the front of the property. One negative thing I would say is that this property is on a busy main road and the hotel opposite often has deliveries etc so we woke up to a loud lorry reversing and the cars speeding down the road this isnt something anyone could sleep through and we had the windows closed so many double glazing to shield some of that noise? There was sufficient bedding and towels left which were great as well as cleaning supplies in the kitchen! We spent most evenings in the hot tub enjoying the view and with the beautiful garden it felt so secluded and private it was wonderful. As mentioned earlier with the instructions, we left the property clean and emptied the indoor bin etc but there were no specifics left.. it wasnt until I got home and had WiFi again that an email came through from Sykes with checkout instructions.. this was a gap. I would suggest getting WiFi or leaving clear instructions for checking out. All in all, We had a wonderful stay and I would love to visit again.
Fantastic cottage! Would almost say perfect if it had WiFi and a larger TV but that said all the extras the owner had done, especially the basket of food, were a nice touch. Without doubt strongly recommend for a lovely, relaxing holiday.
We enjoyed our stay on the whole, the cottage was quirky but I felt it needed a deep clean. The main areas were clean but it could do with a freshen up generally. The car parking spot was definitely unsuitable for unloading the car safely and I wouldnt have liked getting children in and out of a car on that busy road. We had no television service, and decided to come home early cutting our stay short by 3 days.
A great cottage. Great location. Lovely outlook. WiFi would be useful and tablets to keep hot tub clean. Nice welcome touched. Hope to be back soon
Great location. .hot tub good nice touches with the various seating areas outside. Great idea with barviewing area by hot tub. Inside was nicely decorated with plenty of space for us. The kitchen area was well equipped. The front bedroom 4 poster bed could do with a new mattress and also Wifi would be good.
Loved our stay away! Gorgeous cottage in a lovely setting for exploring locally. Couldnt get enough of the views each morning over a coffee.
