Cefn Berain Uchaf Reviews

Aleesha
We absolutely loved our stay here. Everything was perfect and perfect for the 5 nights we stayed. Beautiful surroundings and would absolutely recommend. Host was so gracious and helpful. 5 stars all the way.
Steven
Enjoyed our stay at Cefn Berain. The cottage was well equipped and great for the 8 of us. Loved the large log burner in the sitting room. Kitchen was well equipped but could do with a couple of large pots for cooking for a group of 8. A fun time shepherding a stray sheep that had wandered into the garden the day the grass had been cut added to our Welsh experience. Would recommend for anyone wanting a break in rural North Wales. We were able to drive to Llandudno, Llangollen and Chester all less than an hours drive away.
As a family weve stayed at Cefn Berain Uchaf five times now. Its spacious, comfortable and furnished to a high standard with lots of solid wood fittings. Weve found it works equally well for a multi generational family group there is play equipment, a garden and a big kitchen and for groups of friends who particularly appreciated the games room and hot tub. All the bedrooms are of a good size and we like to be able to spread between the different living areas. The setting is quiet and tranquil and a short drive from Denbigh and St Asaph and within easy reach of Conwy.

Lovely place to stay. Beautiful surroundings. Great hosts. Look forward to going back

I am 29 female with several disabilities. Negatives Upon entrance beautiful well kept property, at first glance. Tv in the main bedroom and lounge need updating, cooker is very temperamental and takes a long time to heat up and cook the food. There isnt 1 frying pan and stove took a very long time to heat up. The stairs upto the hot tub are not very well lit at all and there is no handrail for reassurance, there is also a large bush growing onto the steps down. The games room does leak from the roof where it joins so can be a pain but didnt change the fun we had playing darts. The listing states that there are games but alls I found was jigsaws pieces missing and one board game. I did find use of the playing cards and had lots of fun around the table. The WiFi did go off and on quite a bit whilst I was there which could be a problem to some but I was happy to be away from technology and enjoy the beautiful scenery and watching the sheep from the seating area. Positives The first one was of course the jacuzzi. Wow fastest pain reliever Ive ever had! With my disabilities Im often in pain and the hot tub definitely made up for this. The view out the main bedroom is so beautiful honestly to wake up and see that really did add the wow factor to my break. The property itself is very well maintained whilst having a lot of its original structure and having that modern look to it at the same time. We ended up doing karaoke in the kitchen on YouTube which was really fun and like I said earlier the card games was such a good laugh. We went out a few days to neighbouring towns and had some good hikes along the roads leading up to the property. It is very uphill when walking up towards Denbigh mountain and downhill majority of the way back. The property itself is secluded enough that you have your privacy but will often see tractors or neighbours walking the dog Tommy. This property is no doubt a perfect place to get away but not too far away 1 hour 12 mins for me. Its would easily cater for a family or friends or a couple. The oven and hob does need updating and the tvs but again this is my personal opinion. Property was overall clean except the oven and washing machine slept like a baby in the main bedroom and thoroughly enjoyed the waterfall shower. All other guests said beds where comfortable but they do squeak very loud at 1 tiny movement. The doors upstairs are extremely loud to open and close but didnt really bother me. Can see a lot of things have been updated such as painted, new lights going up the stairs inside the property, the smart tv in the kitchen, would be nice to have extra pillows as I had to sleep with 3 just to be comfortable. Towels for inside the house are very small so I would recommend taking your own. Under floor heating in kitchen was amazing kept downstairs warm and was a nice touch. Would be a nice option to be able to check out late as we had to be out by 10am. Would definitely recommend this property overall and with a few upgrades it would be perfect. Thankyou again for making my time away so enjoyable will definitely book again.
We got back last week after staying here for the second time and it was lovely. Beautiful, peaceful location and all facilities you need for a great stay. The hot tub is a good size and the games room is an added bonus. Ive said it from our first stay but I could happily live here its that beautiful.
Nowhere near a 4. 9 star holiday the place was absolutely filthy when we arrived had to scrub the place!!! Dirty cooker, fridge and towels had dirty marks and makeup stains on them the fridge had spilt food inside it and dirty finger marks on the handle!! Dusty everywhere and cobwebs!!! Bedding also didn't smell fresh!!! OK property literally in the middle of nowhere closet shop is a 20 minute drive ur literally up a mountain view is gorgeous and hot tub was lovely!! Bbq needs binning it's in no fit state for any type of use!! Will upload pics to show!! We also had no Internet for the first 4 days on arrival and wasted most of our type on phone to owners trying to resolve this matter than had a engineer there alday on our 4th day not good wen ur on holiday!! Would never ever stay here agen and would definitely not recommend it!! We've stayed in much nicer places with better facilities for a lot cheaper!! Kids playground needs replacing it's got things missing and is dangerous and all the kids toys are broken!!! Sykes cottages are just as bad they should not be letting out this property it needs a lot of tlc!!! There just after ur money!! Strongly advice you to look elsewhere or be extremely Disappointed!!
We have just got home from an amazing stay here. The house was brilliant, we loved it. The kids had so much space to run around and play inside and outside. The hot tub was the cleanest hot tub I have ever been in! The location was a brilliant base for exploring Wales. The house was well stocked and had absolutely everything you would need from a stay away from home. The washing machine was a god send and the underfloor heating in the kitchen was such a luxurious bonus. The owners are also very welcoming. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and wouldn't hesitate in returning here again.
Michelle
Booked the house for 6 adults and was perfect as there was so much room for everyone. It was a family weekend to celebrate my sisters 60th. We have been to many cottages and this was so very well equipped with everything. Would highly recommend to anyone and will book again.
We very much enjoyed our stay, beautiful setting and the facilities at the cottage was exactly what we expected. Unfortunately, there was no darts to play darts which was a shame. The only issue was getting out by 0900. We were a family of 8. We stay in many places over the years and leaving time is generally 10001100. We always clean as we find it but this timing was a large hurdle, doing the clean and packing up by this time. Maybe you would reconsider the timings just to accommodate all familygroup types. Thank you for letting us stay in your wonderful home we hope we will be back.

We had a fantastic stay here at Cefn Berain Uchaf . The house was immaculate and well equipped. We had everything and more that we needed as a large group . The beds were comfortable. The hot tub was a huge hit with the family , especially on an evening with the built in lights . Beautiful kept gardens with a lovely view of the sheep . The castle isnt a far drive either , nor is Rhyl lovely beach for the kids . Carpark fit 4 cars on with room for more . Lovely play area for the children to play on . I would highly recommend this stay and can not wait to go again . I had seen a previous review about the house not being clean , I just want to reiterate that it was immaculate throughout. Thank you.
Weve just returned from a fab week in this lovely house. We were a 3 Generation party of 6 Adults 2 Children and a Baby, there was plenty of room for everyone. The cottage is well equipped for large partys. The WiFi was good, and the Hot tub a great bonus. You can just see the sea from the upstairs balcony., which was a lovely spot for a morning coffee. There is plenty to do within an hours radius of the cottage, we did something different every day and there were still things we didnt get to do! We hopefully will come back sometime and do those. Conway and Llandudno are lovely towns and the views from The Great Orme are amazing. Anyone who likes Castles will be spoilt for choice.
Unfortunately we hadn't experienced a pleasant stay. The property was filthy and needs lots of improving, we left a day early as we were no longer comfortable staying. Such a shame because we really enjoyed our holiday in North wales but away from the house. The grounds outside the house were lovely but the inside wasn't up to standards. Thankyou for the treats apon arrival that was very thoughtful.
Elizabeth
Me and our big group of family stopped here for a week, the cottage is beautiful and so cosy we couldnt fault It one bit. The family that owns the cottage are lovely and have thought of everything. We all had a lovely time, all slept great for a week, enjoyed winding down in the jucuzzi most nights. A beautiful peaceful setting, hopefully we will definitely get to return. Thank you
We had a really good time, the cottage was beautiful and had everything we needed! The cottage was clean and the hot tub and ping pong table made it a great weekend. Would definitely recommend! 10 of us girls and there was plenty of space to party!
Had a fab time its a great place.
Pauline
We travelled as a family of four from Canada to meet up with 3 more family members in the UK. ....We rented this cottage to have a family mock Christmas as we wouldnt all be together for Christmas Day. The owners went above and beyond to make our stay a pleasant and enjoyable one. Everything was perfect and the cottage was perfectly decorated for Christmas. I cooked a big Traditional Canadian Christmas Dinner with everything I needed in the cottage!! Our only disappointment is we didnt stay longer. Would love to return. Thanks so much.
We love the farm house its our 2nd stay there they made us welcome with fresh milk in fridge and cake to have with a cup of tea when we arrived. The house is beautiful just as we remembered from last stay. The jacuzzi we had to clean out before we could use it but family enjoyed it. The views are amazing from the bedrooms & the lounge. & were pretty central to all coastal area's only draw back no local takeaways. But didn't spoil our relaxing holiday The Taylor family
Location was excellent which made it a great base for days out to the coast and the surroundings beautiful. Amenities for children were great and it was really accommodating for families. Only recommendation would be to trim back the nettles in the children's play area.
Oliver
A fantastic house with everything that you need for a large group. Plenty of space both inside and outside which is a great for families sharing. A lovely peaceful location with lots of family extras like a hot tub, table tennis table, darts and swings. On site sheep in the surrounding fields were a bonus for the kids. A highly recommended cottage.
Michelle
Lovely house in a beautiful setting within easy reach of the coast and with the local town of Denigh a short drive away. The house was warm and spacious, a little too warm at times, as we were lucky enough to have good weather, not that we minded. The kitchen is large and well equipped but we felt that the house might benefit from a tumble dryer especially since there was a limited supply of towels. There were only three of us and if the house was at full occupancy I think we would have struggled for fresh towels even though we took our own towels for use with the hot tub. There are a few small things that need attention around the place such as a constantly running toilet in the bathroom and a blind that doesn't have a working mechanism just odd things that would not necessitate contacting the owners during your holiday but that could perhaps do with attention between guests. We feel that the house is in need of a little TLC and would benefit from a good spring clean & freshen up, it's just looking a little tired and would benefit from a fresh coat of paint especially as there is a large stain on the ceiling in the lounge.Overall we have enjoyed our holiday, the hot tub was great and the views were fantastic but we just feel that, at this moment in time, the house does not warrant a 5 rating. Hopefully our feedback will help to improve the experience for future guests.

We really had a lovely holiday, Cefn Berain Uchaf is a beautiful house and 7 of us were extremely comfortable there. Plenty of space. The views were fantastic and the children loved the hot tub. We only had one comment and that was the play park area could be updated. The house further down the lane had a trampoline and I think older children including mine would love one in the garden We visited Zip World which was fantastic and Snowdonia which was breathtaking. Great house, great location Would love to visit again
Andrew
What a wonderful home to rest in and take in the beautiful views from the panoramic windows. Staying here was a great location for us to visit nearby castles, Chester, Conwy, Llandudno and we enjoyed spending time at the home playing in the garden, games and enjoying the luxury of underfloor heating!!
Property was exactly as described. Beautiful views from all rooms. Play area a big hit with my 5 year old. Already looking to book again. My only negative is that the building was that well heated we didn't get to light tge wood burner frosty morning and cosy fire would have been perfect. Loved our week here! Would recommend to anyone and definitely visit again. Loccal town of Denbigh was lovely I would recommend a visit and also recommend popping in to Ji Binco coffee shop while there.
Philip
No, everything was has in the details of the cottage.
Great time excellent house everything you could need nice quiet location but also plenty to do
Adrienne
Beautiful cottage and lovely surroundings
Fantastic for family holiday. Well equipped for childrentoys, stair gates etc. Hot tub enjoyed by all
Lovely cottage in a great spot, peaceful, private, great view, loved the hot tub
Charlotte
We stayed here for our honeymoon in September. A lovely cottage, with friendly owners. Clean, well maintained with beautiful gardens. The hot tub and bbq area were a real treat. We had our 4 month old daughter with us and found the house was well equipped for babies, with a travel cot and high chair. It's lovely and peaceful, but it's not far to get to a town or to the attractions in the area. There are some lovely drives through Snowdonia which we would recommend! We will definitely come again!
Booked this for my 21st birthday. AMAZING and friendly owners! thanks for the best weekend ever
Natalie
Wow! a beautiful cottage, very spacious, beautiful surroundings and the beds were amazingly comfy! would love to go again, my son also loved feeding the cows and sheep!
