Plas Mawr Reviews

Rebecca
We had a fabulous time in this beautiful cottage that is very comfortable, and so lovely and warm and spotlessly clean. The kitchen is well equipped and the log burner in the sitting room is easy to use. I would have given 5 stars but unfortunately 5 out of 8 of us have come home with hot tub rash folliculitis. The hot tub is beautiful and obviously had new water in when we arrived, we were very careful to use it sensibly, only staying in around 1520 minutes per day and we had separate swim towels which I washed and dried along with our costumes throughout the week but after 5 days we noticed the water smelt very unpleasant. We contacted the owners who attended within 5 minutes of sending the text which was exceptional customer service and chemicalised the hot tub. However it seems the damage had been done as 5 out of 8 us came out in very painful lumpsspots the next day and are still suffering the effects. Having done some research since we got home it is my understanding that the hot tub should have the water tested everyday and it is my belief that this was not done. I am very sad to leave this in a review as the owners were otherwise excellent and the cottage is brilliant but this is the second time we have had an experience like this in one of Sykes cottages. Therefore it may be worth anyone hiring the cottage to ask owners to check the water quality each day if you wish to use the tub every day as we did. The cottage is in an excellent location close to the coast and places of interest and is in a peaceful setting, with an additional holiday let next door. We would definitely return. A none slip mat would be beneficial in the shower cubicle also.

Such a lovely stay at Plas Mwar, perfect location as only 5 minutes from Dinas Dinlle beach and only 20 minutes to places such as Snowdon and Conwy. Authentic cottage, clean and well maintained with an added perk of hot tub which was a great touch! Will be returning next year

Angela and her husband were very lovely and there for us whenever we needed them. The cottage was so beautiful! The only downfall was the power cut on our last day and also occasional bugs. The location and scenery is surreal Will definitely book again in the future Would highly recommend booking!!!

We had a great Easter Stay, welcomed by the owner and head regular visits checking we had everything we needed. Very comfortable house with a great Hot tub, highly recommended.
Elaine
Beautiful property in a great location for Snowdon. 8 adults and plenty of space for us all we didn't mind sharing double beds but note only one of the bedrooms is a twin. We loved the hottub and relaxing in the back garden. Beds were super cosy, kitchen and living room are a great size and perfect for eatingsocialising together. The perfect weekend break for a group of friends, would definitely recommend and hope to return.
Claire
A wonderful, cosy and comfortable cottage with everything you need for a relaxing stay. We all thoroughly enjoyed the hot tub every night and morning. Extremely central for all attractions and sightseeing that youd want to visit whilst staying in snowdonia. A welcoming, family pub with great food at fantastic prices called the Newborough Arms in Bontnewydd which became our locals whilst staying there. And also a fantastic, old pub in the walled town of Caernarfon called the Black Boy Inn, one of the best weve ever visited also with fabulous food and great service which we visited twice. Couldnt recommend the cottage and beautiful location enough. Thank you.
Lovely cottage great location the owners are friendly and very helpful absolutely perfect.
Throughly enjoyable week we had in Plas Mawr. Cottage was lovely and spacious and the owners couldnt be more helpful and knowledgeable. Lovely place to explore Wales and only 5 mins from the beach which my little one throughly enjoyed. Thanks for a lovely week on our first but wont be our last visit to Wales.
We all had a lovely weekend at this beautiful property. The cottage was immaculate when we arrived and the owners were very helpful all weekend. The cottage is a 20 minute drive from snowdon routes and also very close to the coast, perfect for a weekend away!
Lesley
Absolutely lovely place. Owners friendly and helpful. Cottage immaculately clean. Fire laid and cake waiting on arrival. Loads to do in the local area, close to caenarfon where there are restaurants, cafes , shops and a wonderful.castle . Highly recommended.
Cottage was spotlessly clean on arrival a little difficult to find via the sat nav as the sat nav takes you passed the main entrance by about 12 mile. Facilities were great however lack of washing machine and drier was a disappointment. Also on arrival would have been nice to have a little starter pack like coffee tea bags etc as in all other cottages we have stayed. Not complaing though as there was a nice bottle of Prosecco with a birthday message for my wifewife said thanks hic The biggest disappointment was unavoidable as Storm Arwen hit on our 2nd night leaving us with no electricity for 28hrs. Spoke to Angela who was helpful and brought us some logs for the log burner, but as this seemed to be a regular occurrence, would've been nice to have contingency plan in place like torches, candles etc. Although we had hot water tank full of hot water couldn't get shower as they were run by electric. All in all this didn't spoil our fun and we had a great break. Would definitely go back.

Our stay at Plas Mawr was exactly what we were after. There were 8 of us away for a weekend and we had the best time. Angela was always on the other end of the phone if we needed her. The cottage itself was beautiful, so cosy, beds were very comfy and we loved having a fire to cosy up by. Would definitely recommend.
Could do with more crockery Mugs, dishes, cereal bowls & table spoons. Washing tablets for dishwasher was not enough. Had only 4 toilet rolls between 7 of us.
Annette
Lovely cottage for family holiday. Plenty of space for 6 adults. Extremely well equipped and spacious kitchen and comfortable beds. Ideal situation for visiting North Wales. Peaceful, calm surroundings and we were fortunate that the weather was very kind and we were able to sit outside well into the evening. Caernarfon quite close but varied journey times due to many roadworks but is easily accessible otherwise. Would highly recommend to others.
Sandra
Beautiful cottage in a beautiful spot
We had a lovely stay. The house and the location were fantastic !
Beautiful cottage which was immaculately presented. The bedrooms are all a good size and very comfortable. There is plenty of social space so my young children had space to play on rainy days. The cottage is warm and cosy with the lovely addition of the fire in the living space for the cooler nights. The cottage is well placed for Snowdonia and the beach. There are lovely walks around the area too. The owners are friendly and on hand if needed. I also recommend the meat from Wavells butchers.
First time of using Sykes Cottages and was very pleased with the communication and apps ease of use. Cottage description was accurate and decent quality for our needs. Not sure if this feedback is for the cottage as well.... nice quiet location which was central enough to drive to all areas we wanted to. Good sized rooms, beds had decent mattress for good nights sleep. TV remote might need new batteries as intermittently working. Log fire looked nice for the winter but didn't need with the weather we had. Hot water and bathrooms were good. A washing machine would be a useful addition as could probably have used this but not essential. Wifi seemed to work fine generally. Cottage owners were very responsive when had a power cut due to thunder storm. Nice property.
Andrew
Excellent customer service and perfect location.
A beautiful cottage perfect for a family coming together over Christmas to enjoy some quality time. Warm, comfortable and immaculately presented. Only a couple of small issues that could be fixed to make it even better downstairs loo didnt flush too well, not enough loo roll for 6 people over 2 nights and couldnt get one oven door to shut properly however all others worked so not a big problem. Some better knives would have been appreciated for cooking in the evening too! But only very minor Issues and we had a fabulous stay and wouldnt hesitate to recommend to others! Lovely owners too. Thank you.
Andrew
Great comfortable cottage with comfortable beds and a cosy fire to relax in front of. the kitchen was a great social space, with 6 of us able to cook a large meal at the same time without stepping on each others toes.
Had a lovely time in this beautiful cottage, Everything about it was high spec, ... Had a lovely time in this beautiful cottage, Everything about it was high spec, especially the gorgeous bedding and towels, would love to visit again, if you're thinking of cooking meals, ask the owner to get the meat, it's very high grade
Judith
A very clean comfortable cottage. We were a party of 8 adults and a small child. The booking came up showing an occupancy of 2. I contacted Booking.com twice to say that it should read full occupancy with no reply. I then contacted Sykes who confirmed full occupancy to me but did not pass this on to the owners. I therefore had to request more bedding towels and toilet rolls on arrival.
Lesley
Spent a fabulous few days in this fantastic cottage, which was everything we hoped for and more. The cottage is well maintained and the dcor is of a very high standard. We would definitely recommend to anyone look for a holiday cottage in a quiet spot, but ideally situated to explore the area.
Yvonne
This is a really lovely cottage. It's in a perfect location, set in quiet and scenic countryside, but close enough to local beaches, restaurants and attractions should you want to visit them. The owners Angela and Bryn were welcoming and really helpful and gave us great recommendations for beaches and restaurants. Anything we needed they were happy to provide and we appreciated the welcome pack when we arrived. The only thing missing was a washing machine, which would have made it perfect but overall we had a brilliant week and would thoroughly recommend this lovely place.
Abraham
Beautiful area and well kept cottage. what was lacking was a washing machine, but otherwise all great
Lovely country cottage! Amazingly decorated and very homely Angela has a very special place and I would return with my friends and family I would eccomend Plastic Mawr to both families and groups of friends looking to spend quality time together
