Tan Y Fedwen Reviews

The owner was very welcoming and helpful . He even cut the hedge to improve our sea view ! There were just three of us , all over 70 , and we each had a double bedroom . Pure luxury ! Dog had to sleep in lounge . Arrrh . Lovely enclosed garden . Easy walk to beach where benches on cliffside made for peaceful times watching the changing tides . Beautiful views across to Barmouth and Llyn Peninsula . Another visit is certainly on the cards .

We was made very welcome the house was spot on for all our needs well equipped kitchen and plenty of room for the kids
Had a fantastic week at this property. The size was amazing. The sunsets are as beautiful as the picture shown. Would highly recommend. Owner was super helpful with any requests we had. Having the farm shop and bar so close was very convenient. Loved our week away.
Nice property but lacked some general comfort and facilities for a 10 person property. The pans were not large enough for size of the group there were 8 of us. The wine glasses were a throw back to the 1970's, there were no large tumblers nor champagne flutes. The plastic glasses for outside had cracks in them. It would of been nice to have seat cushions on the conversatory chairs. We could not get part of the oven to work and there were no instruction manuals for any of the appliances. Disappointing that there was nothing in way of a welcome pack which is very surprising! These points did not spoil a great weekend but are the difference that would make the property excellent and would not cost a lot to rectify.

Lovely spacious property all set out on a single level with good accessibility. We spent a week a Tan Y Fedwen with extended family with ages ranging from 9 79yrs. The property is well equipped with a full kitchen that allows you to cater for large parties like ours easily. The grounds are great giving the youngest in our party the space to run around, and play. The hot tub was a hit with us all although the oldest in our party did find accessing it a bit challenging. A pathway on the property leads you down to the local beach which is very rocky but nevertheless a lovely place to sit and take in some sea air. Within the local area things to do are limited but there's plenty if you venture just a little further away with Tywyn & Barmouth a short drive or train drive away. All in all we booked this holiday as a relaxing family break and this is exactly what we got would definitely consider returning in the future.
We had a wonderful week in tan y Fedwin. Mei could'ent do enough to help with local information or any minor problems we had. The Farm shop, Bar and Coffee shop were a nice surprise. We will be returning to this location.
Lovely location, exceptionally clean well equipped holiday home,we thoroughly enjoyed our stay, the owners are lovely and helpful, top marks.
We had a great week. Just a few grumbles we found an old cooking tray caked in grease in the oven, from previous guests. Few coloured pencils under one of the beds. The washing airer was broken and beyond repair. We were not a fan of the woodfire hut tub, missed the convenience of the electric hot tub plus missed jets. Would have been in it everynight if it wasn't a pain to light and then wait 2hrs plus to heat up, we also run out of kindling. Only went in it twice. That said it is a beautiful location and a marvellous property. The hosts were friendly and helpful when we approached them. We had an escaped cow and sheep in our garden which was amusing.
The cottage itself is lovely, spacious and well equipped just short of a pizza slicer with a great sized cooker and fridgefreezer and with an added bonus of a childrens games roomden and excellent wifi, there is an abundance of land around the property for children to run around and play, it is not fully enclosed but my dog is well behaved and doesnt wonder off so that wasnt a problem but did get a few campers walking through so not fully private, the outside space facing the sealine and mountains is beautiful and serene if its quiet, there is a hot tub which is good but please be aware it is a wood fired hot tub which was difficult to light and had to ask for assistance to get it started and for myself personally is abit of a faf keeping the fire burning to heat it also there is a tent pitching field directly over the bushes so on summer days you are likely to get campers so you do not feel secluded and away from people or noise which spoiled the experience for me, the beach is 2 minutes walk but it is a very rocky beach with a small gradient to it so ultimately not ideal for pushchairs and wheelchair users, 2 small shops one on Hendre hall and one down the road for basics, ultimately you can drive to the next little town of Tywyn 1520 minutes away. The cottage is a great base for exploring the surrounding areas and the owner was lovely and accommodating.

Really enjoyed our stay and returned home nice and chilled out! Great base for exploring the area which is breathtaking. The sunsets are amazing . Cottage was very clean and had everything we needed. The hot tub and the Smeg cooker were gamechangers. Would recommend this cottage.
Sandra
Well maintained house in a beautiful setting Good location for exploring the many Welsh delights The hot tub was eco friendly and in keeping with the area. Plenty supplies of logs etc
Joseph
Excellent property, friendly owner, and beautiful location. We used it as a base for exploring Snowdownia.
Louise
Beautiful property in a wonderful location. Highly recommend. The owners have thought of everything. The property is very well furnished with every item needed. It is spacious and comfortable with a wonderful view. Many evenings sitting outside enjoying the sea view. The property is well situated to visit Port Meirion and the wonderful railway at Tallyllyn. We also travelled to the aqueduct at Ponteysylite and canoed across it and ate at the Aqueduct Inn which was wonderful. All in all a wonderful holiday from Tan Y Fedwen. Local pub was also very friendly and had a wonderful evening here.
Booked the property for a family holiday, 5 adults, 2 children and a baby, it didn't disappoint. Plenty of secure outside space for the kids to run off some energy, the house is comfortable and had everything we needed. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend it for a family get together. Ideal location for getting out and about, train station in the village, great access to a stoney beach.
Deborah
Enjoyed our stay, the house had everything you needed, the hot tub was good. Close to the beach. Would recommend.
Caroline
There should be more towels available. 10 bath towels and 2 hand towels are not sufficient for 10 guests, 3 bathrooms and a kitchen. A few more kitchen products like scales, cake tins, mixing bowls would be good if anyone wanted to cook cakes etc. there was a dustpan and brush, Henry vacuum, but no broom, mop or bucket. There were washing lines and pegs bit no pole to keep the lines high. In general the facilities were excellent but they fell down on the little details.
Thank you for allowing us to have such an amazing holiday. The property is beautiful, we loved the configuration of the bedrooms for our large family group and the security of the enclosed garden. The views are breathtaking and the sunsets were amazing. We loved the proximity to the beach, the playground, the local pub and the train station. We have all loved the hot tub. We enjoyed it so much we have already booked for next year.
Great place, the evening view as the sun sets is stunning. We had a great week staying here. You are close to Barmouth and Tywyn via car or the train will take you even further afield. Walks around here are breathtaking. The owner was there when required, answered a couple of questions very easily and happily told us about the local hidden gems to visit. We will be back.

We all had such a lovely break something we can remember for a while. Lovely location properly was clean and we all felt relaxed as soon as we arrived. We would definitely recommend thus property to others. Owner was just at hand if we needed anything he was very approachable if we needed anything. Very welcoming Thanks for letting us stay in your lovely properly Hope to see you in the future Thanks Natasha
Excellent cottage! We had a brilliant week. We were three families with young children and we had plenty of space, kids loved it. Lovely to wake up and see the sea! Cottage is clean and modern, warm and nicely furnished. Location is great, quiet, short drive to lots of things to do. The pub in the village is also excellent and very friendly.
Daniel
Thoroughly enjoyed our time there. Lovely house, warm and plenty of space. Facilities all worked well, kitchen, hot tub etc and enjoyed exploring the local area. Garden was good for a bit of garden cricket too! Owner gave us our space as well, but was always on hand in case we needed something. Thanks v much for a great stay! Would definitely recommend.
Robert
Great location, Very quiet, would highly recommend. Great for a large young family.
Lovely bungalow, plenty of room and seating, clean and warm. Easy to manage flooring and surfaces. Wonderful situation with sea views. Comfort items could be improved, no welcome pack, no spare bin bags? bedside lights in one bedroom.... no socket for them? Grill on oven did not work, wash hand basins far too small, totally impractical. Towels barely big enough. Hot tub not hot enough for us. We had a lovely stay here for a week despite weather not being great. All in all, good value for money, room for improvement. Would recommend it to friends and family.
This was a great holiday cottage and the owner was very helpful and always available if we needed anything. Train station very close by so you can hop on to see other areas in Wales. Local shop and pub about 5 minutes walk away also. Hot tub was a great addition here and we sat and watched some amazing sun sets.
Louise
Great time house was amazing lovely garden great for the kids only downfall was because the weather was not great nowhere to dry towels beach stuff an airer or tumble dryer would have been great . Would definitely book again.
Lovely cottage great owner location second to none second time weve been and loved every minute of it.

We have just returned home after a week at Tan y Fedwen. What a fantastic place! The pictures don't do it justice, the house was lovely and spacious and the garden is huge. At one point, there were 9 of us, ranging in age from 7 to 82 and it still felt like we had plenty of space. The kitchen was well equipped and we didn't really want for anything. The shower in the main bathroom was great too. The beds were very comfortable and the whole house was very clean. We all loved the hot tub, particularly on the cooler days, though we were extremely lucky with the weather. The proximity to the beach was a real plus, with the added bonus of seeing the pygmy goats on the way down! The beach is quite rocky, so bring beach shoes, but for a couple of hours around low tide, there is lots of sand and it's then much easier to paddle and swim. There are lots of rock pools, great for the little ones to explore, and while they're doing that, there are fantastic mountain views to enjoy. The sunsets from the terrace of the house are some of the most spectacular we have ever seen. There is a nice circular walk up the hill behind the house, but very steep so take water if you are planning to do this. The owner was friendly and approachable, always responding quickly to any queries we had. The shop in the village is fine for basics, although we did go around midday one day and they had run out of bread so probably best to get there early, otherwise there is a decent size Coop in Tywyn. The pub in the village serves very good food but we were waiting a long time to be served an hour and ten minutes before we got food, not sure if this is standard or they were having a bad night! We don't often return to the same holiday rental, but I have a feeling we will be back to Tan y Fedwen. An excellent stay, thank you!
Unfortunately the listing wasn't really accurate for this property we specifically wanted a property that was pet friendly and we had no time limit in using the hot tub as some listings specify that we cannot use it after 2200. We got help over the phone by Rebecca and she gave us 3 options to choose from. From the listing the property seemed perfect, large enclosed garden for the dogs outdoor hot tub for the adults so we decided and booked it on spot. Once we rang the owner for the keys new rules and info appeared. The owner actually lives next door and right in front of the property he has pods as well that he rents that meant for us absolutely no noise after 2200 and also it was mentioned the fact that he will keep an eye on us whilst we stay there. We were also advised that all dogs should be on the lead whilst outside the house so all that nice enclosed area is not actually enclosed as there is no gate and no fence was not accessible for our pets although the owner has a small dog that actually walks around freely that didn't seemed fair. The owner actually advised that the beach is at walking distance and our dogs can walk freely over there indeed it was at walking distance but the whole area is covered in rocks not the best environment for a dog to run and play. Other than that they were friendly and helpful we just all wish that we had the info before actually booking and paying for the property

Tan Y Fedwen was in a lovely quiet location, close to the beach and overlooking the sea. It is a large house with lots of space. The owner was very helpful and attentive to our needs. He is making improvements to the house and the upcoming wood burner will be a great addition. The main bathroom is new and the furniture is in good condition. We would suggest swapping out the cutlery and crockery in the future for a higher quality set. We loved the hot tub.
Alison
A beautifully presented spacious cottage. Immaculately clean & comfortable
We enjoyed our stay regardless of the terrible weather. It was lovely & warm inside the bungalow. Only one thing, they could do with a tumble dryer!
Lovely retreat close to the beach owners very welcoming comfy beds and the place was spotless.
Richard
What a gem we found here. stunning cottage with plenty of room for the whole family, decorated and furnished to a very high standard, lots of space inside and out, beautiful sea views making for some amazing sunsets. The owners where very friendly probably the nicest I have ever dealt with this holiday is a 1010 for me and my family and we will be going back again highly recommended.
We had a great time, love the cottage, kids had a great time playing hide and seek loved, feeding the goats. Lovely village. Owners lovely and welcoming. Would like to visit again sometime.
