Elan Valley Welsh - The Sheepfold Reviews

Rebecca
A stunning chilled out lodge! Amazing views, amazing facilities and just everything you need for a break! Our dogs loved the enclosed garden and space to run around. We would certainly recommend this place and will be coming back!!
Outstanding premises very well thought out & equipped. A quiet area with some decent views & an ideal base to explore all parts of Wales with a bit of driving. The hot tub ends a busy day wonderfully too! This is how it should be done...
Firstly, a wonderful accommodation with spectacular views
Jonathan
Fantastic design, inside and out, in a beautiful setting overlooking open fields with rolling hills all around. Fantastic hot tub. Equipped perfectly. We hope to be back!
Tiffany
Lovely property, very clean and has everything you could need for a relaxing holiday.
Sophie
Lovely location and the lodge itself was wonderful. As a family, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The only negative I would say is that perhaps the window cleaner could come around during change over rather than while guests are there. It was a slight intrusion of privacy, otherwise a lovely stay
Joanna
Absolutely lovely lodge with everything you would need even washerdryer. Spotlessly clean. Fully enclosed garden which was perfect for our 2 terriers they loved it. Surrounded by beautiful countryside and views so peaceful and relaxing. Would highly recommend.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Elan Valley Welsh and I must say it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The cleanliness of the accommodation was impeccable, with every corner shining and spotless. The maintenance of the property was topnotch, showcasing a high level of care and attention to detail. One of the highlights of my stay was the amazing hot tub. It was the perfect way to unwind and relax after a day of exploring the beautiful surroundings. The hot tub was wellmaintained and provided a luxurious experience that added an extra level of comfort to my stay. I was pleasantly surprised by the great wifi connection at Elan Valley Welsh. When you book somewhere that is as remote as The Sheepfold you expect a very slow WiFi speed, however this was not the case. Whether I needed to catch up on socials or simply stream my favorite movies, the wifi never let me down, allowing me to stay connected throughout my stay. The views from the property were truly breathtaking. Waking up to the sunrise shining over the Welsh countryside was a treat for the senses, especially when you can take these views in from the hot tub. Overall, my experience at the Elan Valley Welsh was nothing short of fantastic. The combination of great cleanliness, excellent maintenance, an amazing hot tub, reliable wifi, and stunning views made for a perfect getaway. I highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a peaceful and rejuvenating retreat in the heart of the Welsh countryside
Despite the weather rain, hail, snow, sun! , we had a glorious stay. The pros stunning views, beautifully peaceful, a welcome pack that included treats for the dogs, separate towels for hot tub provided, the mattresses and bedding were high quality and so comfy, comfy furniture, decent glasses, dishwasher and washerdryer with pods provided, hot tub was divine, good size entry mat for those muddy paws!, full smart TV, all fixtures and fittings were clearly well thought out and high quality, as its on the end nobody can see you in the hot tub. The cons only 2 tea bags and 2 sachets of coffee provided picky I know, but Ive stayed at cheaper places that provide more, not suitable for all dogs stock fencing to the side entrance would not be secure for small dogs although you could easily put something across this, fencing height is very low prob 3ft if that and this means large dogs can see each other over the fence, it also means you can see the people next door if youre in the garden some bamboo screening between the properties would improve privacy and maybe taller meshtrellis on the other sides, most of the property was immaculate but the lamps were very dusty and the extractor fan a little greasy. Finally, an info pack would really help little things like rules for dogs, how to operate hot tubheating, places close by that dogs can be walked, what to do with dirty laundry at the end of the stay and recyclingrubbish. Overall a fabulous, relaxing stay and we would come back with the dogs as Elan Valley Welsh has the best position.
Absolutely loved our stay at the Sheepfold. The property had everything we would have wished for. Great TV signal and Wifi, and the hot tub was a great way to unwind at the end of the day. Watching the Red Kites swooping around looking for food was amazing. The standard of fittings at the property was first class. We will be back again in the near future.
The lodge was beautiful and had everything we could need! The bed was so comfy and the hot tub was such a lovely addition to watch the sunrise and sunset. The only thing that we wish we had was a mop as Reggie loved the garden but would run in with muddy paws and we felt awful being able to clean it. Other than that the property is perfect and we cant wait to come back.
Jaclyn
A spectacular property with equally spectacular views. Having 2 boys a washing machine was an absolute must, great finding out it was a dryer too. The hot tub was a real luxury and was used every day. The hosts were very friendly and helpful, made us feel very welcome. Would definitely recommend staying here.
Natalie
We had a lovely time staying at the Sheep fold. It was spotlessly clean. The owner came to check on us and was very helpful and friendly. We cannot fault a thing and will definitely return in the future.
Shannon
Weve stayed here twice now and have a lovely experience each time! The owners are very kind and are always just one call away if you need anything, hot tub is amazing! We would definitely recommend this place for a lovely stay.
We booked this property very much as a lastminute 3night getaway what an excellent decision! ! The property was clean, and wellappointed, and within minutes of our arrival we were in the hot tub. Three nights of luxury followed, including lots of hot tub time and a great Sunday dinner at the local pub, and a lovely walk up to the reservoir and the dams. The owners were lovely, and went above and beyond to make us feel welcome, and our stay a memorable and enjoyable time. The property itself is warm, stunningly beautiful and very well appointed with everything needed for a cosy stay. The highlight of our stay was to watch a beautiful Red Kite fly low and very close to the fence line looking for pray whilst we relaxed in the hot tub.
Sandesh
Clean, comfortable and excellent place to have a break. Accommodation lovely as per description . Scenery beautiful and ideal location to visit other parts of Wales. See you Soon. Thank you.
Joanna
Beautiful place, beautiful home. Everything was well thought out and was all high quality. We stayed for 3 nights and wish it was longer. Would highly recommend..we will be back !
Matthew
The property is immaculate. Everything you need for a perfect self catering holiday. The garden with the hot tub, patio area and fenced borders are ideal for us but also your dog. I worked remotely from the lodge for one day and the internet connection is great. Finally Eddie & Sally are lovely hosts.
Alister
Nothing bad to say it was all great. Lovely place to to stay in a beautiful area of wales.
Absolutely beautiful stay. The house was very cosy and pretty, and it was a relaxing visit. Little touches meant a lot and the facilities were well thought off. Our dogs also enjoyed it enclosed garden which was perfect. Hot tub was perfect! Thank you, and will visit again!
Beautiful Lodge. Amazing location surrounded by cows and sheep, and a lovely owner. We have had a wonderful time staying at this lodge. Relaxing in the hot tub after long days of walking to see the whole nights sky lit up with stars was relaxing to say the least. Really is the perfect location for exploring and stargazing. We saw the most magical thunderstorm on our final night after two hot days. The owner even recommended that we visited Elan Valley Damns which we did and it was worth it!! The owner went above and beyond! Thank you for our amazing stay!
Sheepfold is an incredible well thought out stylish find nestled in the heart of nature! A bright and airy but cosy if needed we did place to stop and get off the world for a week really allowing us all to take in the tranquility and beauty of the surrounding views. The temperamental weather across the entire week did not stop us from creating memories and coming back to the warm hot tub created the perfect ambience after hours of walking. A different kind of holiday for us as a family with our Husky x Akita but one we have all thoroughly enjoyed. Thank you for allowing us to enjoy your cosy, modern relaxing sanctuary, for all the small touches you thought of for both the adults, kids and our family dog! Making your place dog friendly allowed us to experience your beautiful space and location with our entire family!
Its easy to say perfection but its the only word to describe this beautiful place. From the minute you step inside to the minute you leave its the embodiment of relaxation. The lodge is high spec and has everything you would need and of course, the hot tub is the icing on the cake. Didnt want to leave. Sally and Eddie whom own the lodge were so kind and welcoming and made the stay that bit more special. Thank you from us 3 and 2 very happy dogs!
Karina
This has truly been a most wonderful stay. The location is breathtaking. The facilities are outstanding they have thought of everything to make a stay feel like a home from home. The decor is contemporary and chic, enough to make you want to move in forever! We arrived as a family of 4 with two kids age 7 and 4 and we all had a superb time! The outside enclosed access meant that they could run around and let off steam. The hot tub was also an added bonus and well received after a long day around the Elan Valley. The location is perfect for exploring the sites of Mid Wales a perfectly positioned base to discover the views and explore what Wales has to offer! Local 5 min drive to Tesco's to get supplies was fab and Llandrindod offers a quaint charm with lots of activities to offer families. We will be back and next time will book for longer to make the most of it! Diolch yn fawr Sheepfold, we had a magical time! See you soon!
Keeley
We wanted a relaxing girlie trip and thats exactly what we got! A beautifully maintained lodge that was totally immaculate and welcoming ready for our arrival. All the facilities that we needed for a 2 night break away without our husbands and children Tescos is a short drive away, so we could get what we needed and the welcome pack of crisps, waffles and prosecco waiting for us from the owners we found a lovely touch. There is also a few little pots of milk in the fridge. The tea, coffee and sachets of sugar will also tide you over until you can get to do a grocery shop. We found the Munchala app was needed to order a takeaway from the local Indian Similar to Uber Eats! and delivery was with us in the hour. The owner popped up during our stay to ask if all was well and could he help at all Again, another lovely touch! and could they improve in any way. The only thing we could think of was a mirror in the bedroom but that is something really minor and we all managed without ok with mirrors that we had brought with us and the one in the bathroom Theres free WiFi available in the lodge and from there youre able to check whats local to you. All in all, a really lovely, stylish and spotlessly clean accommodation that we wouldnt hesitate to recommend to anyone wanting to explore the local area, or that wants a little R&R! Thank you for having us
Abigail
We had such a lovely time at Elan Valley The Sheepfold! It was exactly what it looked like on the website and was so relaxing! We loved the little waffles and crisps provided for when you get there, we thought this was a lovely touch and everything was easy to use and made us settle in really quickly! Would definitely recommend this property to friends!
The stay was fantastic and the property beautiful Also when contacting the ... The stay was fantastic and the property beautiful Also when contacting the owners to query the Cooker they were straight there to help and so lovely We couldnt have asked for a better stay
Hannah
We had an AMAZING time thank you! We have vowed to make here our yearly get away with the dogs and no kids haha. We had everything we needed to have a comfortable and enjoyable stay. Thank you again! Hannah, Chris, Mila & Koko x
Lauren
What a wonderful place! Lucky enough to visit within the first few months so the place was like new. Although with the lovely families dedication to the place, I can absolutely imagine itll stay this way for years to come. The place is beautifully designed and really feels like a special place to have a break. Attention to detail is super obvious, from the plush beds and bed linens to the fancy shower and well equipped kitchen. Nice to not need to take the little things you forget, boring dishwasher tables and salt & pepper things. A huge garden with views to just watch for hours from the lovely garden furniture or hot tub. Our dog enjoyed it too, he was a very relaxed boy with lots of space to wander about and snooze in. No criticisms at all! Apart from maybe needing a washing line for the wet costumes once youve tumbled out the hot tub for the 17th time, but thats a minor detail. A few things if taking pooches but again no criticism to place gardens huge but fences are low to not hinder view! Be prepared for welcomed faces over fences to yours or your pooch to be nosing at neighbours. Could be a problem if your dog is a little reactive to other stuff going on. Although we were next to dog people too so all fun and not serious! There also arent any quick dog walks directly from cottage so a bit of a research before hand id recommend. Also, its no lie, theres sheep everywhere! Hope you stay here, cant recommend enough. Lauren, India, Alison, Lewis & River the Vizsla
Such a beautiful place, everything you need for a break away! The attention to detail was outstanding. Enjoyed a lot of scenic walks and finished the days with a nap for the dogs and an evening in the hot tub for us. Cant recommend this place enough, will definitely be back
The best place we have stayed and even better, its dog friendly! The lodge itself was amazing, it had the facilities you need and we were so impressed by every little detail this place has to offer. Both the inside of the lodge, the garden and area was very clean and tidy. The view was breath taking, very peaceful and relaxing. The hot tub was was perfect way to start and end our days. The place was very dog friendly, we took our puppy and it was reassuring to know the fencing was in great condition. We would struggle to find anywhere which beats this place and the reason why, we will definitely be back. Thank you so much!
Tiffany
These lodges are stunning! we had a lovely few days chilling and taking in the stunning views. overall stay was a 1010 everything was spot on and the lodge had everything you needed and more. some lovely pubs close by and walks too if you are bringing your dog with you. we will be booking to return as we loved it so much.
Absolutely top class establishment. No corner cut. Lovely family. Shame Sykes have more than doubled the prices for next year
Joshua
Just back from a weekend staying here and we absolutely loved it. So peaceful and private and you can really tell that a lot of thought has gone into this place. Very spacious inside and all the little details really make a difference. Will definitely be back in the future and will be recommending to others
We had a lovely stay everything in property was of excellent standard. The location is great especially if you want some downtime. Beautiful views from property and the hot tub was a hit. We had an awesome stay and plan to return soon.
Claire
Hi Rhys, just chatted to your Dad whilst he was feeding the sheep! Thought since the accommodation is new and Im from the area I would send over some friendly recommendations we have noticed from our stay we have loved it and the lodges are lovely really nicely done and of course the setting is stunning
An excellent location, an extremely comfortable place to stay. Everywhere wa ms well equipped and the fixtures and feedings were all to a high standard, giving it a luxurious feel.
We had a lovely stay, everything was pristine and modern and the hot tub was perfect! Really comfy bed, fast WiFi and was so happy to see an up to date smart tv, really couldnt fault the place it all looked brand new, every amenity has been covered and we appreciated the posh wine glasses, you can tell the owners have put a lot of thought into the property. Our only gripe was we wish wed researched the area as there didnt seem to be much around caferestaurant wise, however the stay was that comfortable we really enjoyed cooking and enjoying the peace and quiet before going back to the madness of kids and married life, would definitely consider coming back once the weather gets warmer and would definitely recommend.
