The Chapel Reviews

The Chapel was a beautiful place to stay. It was fully equipped with everything you could need, down as far as salt and pepper!! We were 6 adults, a toddler and a dog. We had plenty of room as it was very spacious. There was even a high chair for my grandson! The secure garden was fab for our dog, he loved running around out there. One small fault is that we wished there was a canopy or cover over the hot tub because it was pouring with rain while we were there and would have made it nicer to sit in the tub, but thats just being really picky! Overall it was great and we would definitely return
In one word stunning. We have stayed in 4 cottages in recent years and hands down this was by far the best. The only advice to the owners would be to advertise the views in your listing as when we arrived we were blown back by the views from the chapel. Also would like to say the garden was perfect if taking dogs as it was all fenced off and even my 2 very naughty cockerpoos couldnt escape. The local town for all your shopping is only 15 minutes away and the local pub a 3 minutes drive.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Chapel, the location was perfect. We didnt mind the other property being close, although it did only have guests over the weekend so we were alone for the week. The hot tub was a winner after a long day. The beds were very comfortable, plenty of space downstairs to spread out and have some quiet time when needed. A few things to note did not affect our stay at all! The frying pans could do with replacing as everything sticks, there were no spare bin liners under the cupboard as mentioned. We did purchase and leave a knife sharpener as the knives were all very blunt. Kitchen was well equipped however. The right side of the toaster did trip the electrics a couple of times on the last couple of days. We couldnt use the fire as the flue lever was broken and just laying to the side of the fire. The Chapel was quite warm everyday anyway so not too much of an issue. PLEASE be careful when going int the garden if its wet, the paving slabs are extremely slippery, an elderly member slipped and fell when stepping out into the garden via the games room, luckily just bruising. We did scrub these afterwards but it didnt seem to make much difference. The garden space itself if lovely, the dog really enjoyed running around in the back field, its pretty secure but we did remain with them in case they managed to find a way out. Overall we really enjoyed our stay and would return. The Red Cow Inn and Butchers Arms which are both recommended in the welcome book were both lovely places to eat and a 5minute drive, very welcoming and dog friendly.
Everything was supplied that you would need for your stay. The beds were really cosy and warm. There were plenty of soft seats to use and we loved the Fairy Lights around the windows and staircase. A real bonus at the end of the day was being able to use the Hot Tub. The only downside was that there were not enough china plates, mugs and cutlery we had to wash up after each meal instead of using the dishwasher.! The Chaple looked a little tired and worn but this could be the image that the owners wanted to put across. We as a group enjoyed our stay here.

What a unique accommodation. Truly a one of a kind with spectacular views. Plenty of parking, large dining area, big kitchen, large sitting areas, spacious bedrooms, large patio area with hot tub and huge garden surrounded by forestry. Only one thing we were missing was a washing machine dryer but we managed with the clothes we packed. Anyway, still very pleased with everything
Absolutely beautiful cottage. We enjoyed our stay. It was rather toasty on arrival. We couldnt work the heating which was set at 26 degrees, so had to turn off all the radiators. But it didnt spoil our stay! We loved it! And such a stunning setting. Its a shame we didnt have time to use the hot tub. Good communication with owners too.
Adrian
What a location great views overlooking the reservoir, the hot tub was working ... What a location great views overlooking the reservoir, the hot tub was working perfect and the chapel was lovely and worm , we are looking to book again as we didn't get to explore everything well worth booking this if you want a remote location
Its is an amazing cottage chapel in a spectacular location. We had a wonderful time first few days as a whole family and then some peaceful ones just in our own when they went back to work. We hope to rebook for next year as there are still so many walks.trails we did not have time to do. The cottage has everything you need for a great stay, the games room was a family favourite, the hot tub after long walks was a big plus.
We had a wonderful stay at The Chapel. Everythings provided and we couldnt ask for more. Its a Beautiful property with stunning view from every room, our family had such a good time that weve booked for May next year, we can see us booking this regularly. The garden is stunning and its heavenly watching the birds come and go. The log burner adds to the cosy atmosphere too. Location is perfect with large supermarkets 20 minutes away. Brecon town itself is nice to visit and stock up on supplies. We highly recommended The Chapel.

The Chapel was a beautifully converted property very spacious and very comfortably heated, so still cosy from the outset. It was tastefully decorated for Christmas and a lovely setting in an area of outstanding beauty to enjoy the festive period with family. Thank you Morris for sharing such a splendid venue.

This was the most perfect place for an academic retreat, with the long table, space to spread out and good space to rest. The hot tub, even in grim cold weather, was amazing prewarmed, great sound system and view. We liked the games space. Beds were comfortable and clean, in beautiful rooms. Shower had great water pressure. The Internet held up except when someone needed to record a research interview a couple of wifi boosters would fix this. Do bring electrical extension cables if you have many things to plug in. Not least because the rooms are large so sockets are quite far st away. On arrival, it was warm, with the Christman lights up and pretty. We're considering booking both cottages for next time. I cannot recommend it enough. Read the manual, especially for the fire.

The chapel is absolutely beautiful in a quiet location, we had a fantastic stay ... The chapel is absolutely beautiful in a quiet location, we had a fantastic stay , it was very clean and such a lovely place to relax , we will be looking to come back 100 percent, Colin the pug loved the garden , we had a lovely time in a beautiful place thank you
Mathew
Had a fantastic holiday, lots of walks with the dogs and children, the chapel is lovely. Great location for walks with beautiful scenery. The only negative is could have done with a washing machine and live television or sky box, samsung TV not great. But all in all 5 star!!!!!!
Absolutely gorgeous place to stay. Lots of walking and hiking trails nearby followed by pub lunches. Then back for games and a nighttime jacuzzi. Will definitely come again. The only improvement would be a tumble dryer during the winter to dry our towels but other than that we had an amazing time exploring the local area.
Property is overlooked by another let. Whilst spitleesly clean, the property badly needs maintenance. Garden is NOT dog secure as claimed.
Robert
Lovely old building and comfortable. The hot tub is great. Beautiful garden shame we didnt have the weather to get the full benefit. WiFi works well overall, just a few drop outs occasionally, which is a real challenge in somewhere, so rural. Especially at night, the peace and quiet is wonderful. This is an idyllic setting, with so much nature and wonderful walks right in your doorstep. Local pubs serve excellent food. We especially used Aberglais Inn. This place is rustic and charming, however there is some decorative maintenance required, both inside and out. The most immediate attention needs to be the entrance, which desperately needs repainting. It does give a poor immediate impression, which sadly does not at all reflect the overall standard of the property. If this isnt addressed before winter, it is likely the repairs will be significantly more expensive.
Matthew
Great holiday property. really peaceful, everyone loved the hot tub and games room.
Elizabeth
We had a lovely stay, thank you!
Having booked this back in March see Lennon review I was concerned to be going back having booked this for July prior to our March visit. When there were lots of problems. This visit however I was pleasantly surprised. Credit to the owners the fence had been secured lighting around patio fixed and the broken garden furniture gone with the garden having been tidied. The house is in a great location for any hiking biking sports etc. would I come again yes but not in March!!
Michael
The Chapel is a very special place, beautifully restored, well appointed with all of the amenities we needed and with a rich depth of history. We loved reading the local history booklet and seeing the historic, original maps, the solid walls and beautiful windows, the lovely garden and sweeping views! We had just two disappointments, and a suggestion we were not informed until well after our booking was finalized that there is a second let in the immediate vicinity. We gathered from the website posting that we would be having a private experience but found the hot tub and back patio were in full view of the three blokes staying next door. Second, the water in the hot tub was visibly unclean despite assurances it is refreshed before each stay. And our suggestion, due to my fiancs reaction to the synthetic perfumes added to laundry detergent and cleaning products, we hope you will consider making a switch as we will be seeking fragrance free holiday lets in the future. The residue of cleaning products and perfumes in laundry detergent have caused her to become ill during our holiday in the UK. We have found in the US a growing trend toward greenfree & clear cleaning products and hope it catches on quickly in this beautiful country as well!
Yvonne
Very beautiful converted Chapel. Lovely setting. A bit tired inside, to be expected in an old building. Quite a few cobwebs, especially in the hall area. Comfortable beds, we all slept well. The freezer and fridge need defrosting! There is a close neighbouring property which was not made clear in the listing, but it didnt bother us, hopefully we didnt bother them.
On arrival we were shocked to see that there was another holiday let on the same grounds as The Chapel, meaning no privacy at all when using the hot tub or being in the garden. The garden is not secure so be aware of this if you bring a dog. The Sykes listing and photos are misleading as there is no mention of this of this other property and they have not been transparent. For the price paid youd expect privacy. The Chapel itself is a beautiful old building and the bed was comfy, but sadly ruined by the neighbouring property. We would not book again.
On arrival disappointed with the appearance of the property. Once inside we could see it was a little tired and in need of some TLC. as stated by one of the previous renters March 2023 We also noticed another building next to the Chapel in the same garden and learnt that this was another rental. The Lodge. The closeness of these two properties is not transparent in the Sykes brochure. The microwave was broken. We reported this immediately and a new one was delivered in the morning along with some chocolates lovely gesture. On putting the dogs outside at night in the dark none of the the outside lights were working. This was dangerous it was pitch black the uneven garden not fully secure for the dogs was worrying and the wet pavings slippery. On reporting this we we informed an electrician was not available. I hope the repairs have been carried out ready for our next booking in July! The beds were comfy. The main en suite bedroom was lovely. we tossed a coin for it! Lol The lounge sofas very comfy and we were nice and warm.
Graham
The property was situated in an idyllic setting and to woken by the wood pecker every morning was just a joy, the peace and quite was wonderful and we loved the area , however, overall the interior was a bit sad and tired and in particular the following 1. the micro wave cooker did not work as the door would not lock. 2. some of the crockery was chipped and in one case broken in two 3. the Fridge freezer had not been defrosted for many months 4. there were detailed instructions about how to use the log burner and hot tub but no instructions as to how to operate the TV or to dispose of the ash from the fire, we did find the ash bucket which was full to overflowing and not details of where to dispose of the ashes. during our stay we could only use the lounge TV on streaming services and no terrestrial and the bedroom TV we eventually worked out the Thursday was a Satellite TV . 5. There were detailed instructions on how to recycle the waste and general waste but the bins were full to overflowing on our arrival and the instructions clearly stated the black bins for general waste was located on the left of the property near the key press ,there were no bins! 6. despite al this we would have no hesitation in returning
We all really enjoyed our stay at The Chapel. It is a very comfortable property, with everything you could wish for, and more besides. The location is stunning, and very quiet, but at the same time, not far from bigger towns and cities, so, the best of both worlds. We had a great time, and hope to return to see more of the area. Many thanks.
Family of 5 and two dogs We had a fab time! Lovely location and views were beautiful. Everything you could need in a house. Loved the games room! We will definitely be returning. Thank you for a great stay!
This was a really lovely place to stay. It was cosy, warm, spacious and comfortable throughout.
The property in question looked nice but I wouldn't stay here again. The hot tub is overlooked by the adjacent property, the garden fencing is broken, there is a huge burn mark in the living room and other aesthetic issues, and some of our food was eaten while on the side overnight. All in all, not a great experience.
A beautiful property in a stunning location. The extra Xmas decorations were a delightful touch.
Excellent stay, lovely property and location. Highly recommend
