Stag Cottage Reviews

What a place! Absolutely gorgeous. My favourite thing was learning to use an Aga and how it is so multifunctional. Everything has been thought of to make your stay so comfortable. When you are townies like us, to go somewhere so peaceful and dark takes some getting used to but we soon got used to it. Communication was fab from hosts too. Thanks so much, we will be back.
An amazing cottage. !!! Luxurious throughout, and set in picturesque scenery. It was lovely to meet Liz and Kelvin.
We were totally blown away with how beautiful Stag Cottage is. Every single detail in the decor and furnishings has been thought of. Liz and Kelvin were amazing hosts reassuring us if we needed anything we only needed to ask. Nestled on the farm you are surrounded by rolling hills and countryside. We could not recommend a stay here enough. We have already booked again for next year!
Bethany
This place is truly special. The interior of the cottage is everything you could wish for, it feels like pure luxury yet so cosy and a home from home feel. So spacious, and the most comfortable bed ever! The location is great, the property is easy to locate and youre only a short drive from many surrounding places to visit, plenty lovely local pubs to chose from and loads of nice walks to adventure on in The Peak District, and even directly from the cottage. The wildlife & animals surrounding the property is wonderful to see and it gives the perfect rural setting, with the added bonus of a hot tub under the starry skies. This place allows you the perfect mix, for either a relaxing break to do nothing but chill or explore the area and go on an adventure, we were spoilt for choice. The hosts couldnt have been more accommodating and helpful, they have really created something special here, we were absolutely gutted to leave but it just means we have to come again! This place unknowingly to me at the time would also become the place I got engaged which only added to the whole experience. I couldnt have wished for anything more, thank you for everything.
Joanne
Absolutely stunning very spacious cottage set in the most idyllic countryside. Seeing the cows and sheep outside your window every morning was lovely. Super hosts nothing was too much trouble for them The hot tub was Devine. We have already discussed when to return next year with my parents. Thankyou stag cottage for a super relaxing weekend

Stay cottage is absolutely stunning and the interior decoration has been done to an exceptional standard. It really is like a country show home with a warm cosy feeling. The location is idyllic with stunning scenery and great places to visit within a short driving distance. It was lovely meeting Liz and kelvin when we arrived and knowing help was quickly available from them if needed. We had never visited the Peak district before and now cannot wait to return and stay at the cottage again
Angela
Wow what a beautiful place , we did not want to leave , the cottage is just beautiful , it felt like a home from home we will definitely be booking again.
Andrew
Wow what a lovely cottage, surroundings and interiors, all done to a boutique hotel quality. Met Liz & Kelvin who were perfect hosts and made my wife's year meeting them on her birthday break. Looking forward to staying again. Andrew & Karen Morgan
Highly recommended! What a fantastic place! Came home with house envy and still depressed now. Beautiful location, great walks and perfect place to relax just what we needed. The Fletchers are the perfect hosts too. Thanks again for a fabulous stay.
Stunning cottage, much larger than expected. Loved the Aga, hot tub and the fact it had a washing machine. Pure luxury and the decor is to a very high standard. Fab location with many places locally to visit. Leek, Biddulph and Blaze Farm being our favourites. Watching the chickens potter around the garden from the conservatory is a pleasure. Host family very friendly and helpful. Will definitely go back.
It was lovely to receive a bottle of champagne on arrival. Was unclear which paths we could use from the cottage. The Ryles Arms was excellent for an evening meal.
The cottage is beautifully furnished and very spacious. We had a wonderful, peaceful and relaxing holiday here.
A lovely place to stay. Felt really welcome, and nothing was too much bother. Loved the hot tub, just what was needed. Beautiful and scenic location.
Absolutely stunning property in a great location. Just perfect
We had a wonderful stay at stag cottage and can not wait to book again.
WOW, 5, the most beautiful cottage, surroundings and hosts. Perfect from the minute we got there till we left. Did not want to go home. I will definitely be booking again and stay an extra few nights. Thank you for an amazing stay xx
Stag cottage was everything you needed for a quiet ,peaceful , beautiful place , with lovely country pubs nearby , lovely to meet Liz and Kelvin , and family made it extra special, would love to go and stay again .
The cottage was just as it appeared in the pictures. Everything was done to a high standard. Having never used an Aga before I thought we would find it difficult but the instructions were spot on. The hot tub was a lovely extra Id probably allow it more 3 hours to heat, than 2 though. There are some beautiful walks around the area. We did walk to the Ryles Arms which was a good 3540 min walk via the road the food is lovely there. All in all an absolutely lovely, peaceful, relaxing weekend and the owners were very helpful.
Claire
Outstanding cottage, beautiful surrounding. Highly recommended.
Nichola
The cottage was fabulous and Kelvin Liz and the children could not have been more welcoming to us as a family. We will definitely be going back once we are a family of 5!
Sharon
The cottage is beautiful and is a wonderful place to stay.
Alistair
Really lovely cottage which was extremely well presented yet felt homely. We had a really lovely time staying there and Liz and Kelvin were really helpful. Our daughter loved that she could let the chickens out and collect the eggs and she was fascinated by the goings on at the farm. Great location too.
Bernard
We had a wonderful time at Stag Cottage, The cottage has everything you need and looks like a show home. All furnishings and facilities are 5 star. The area is ideal for exploring the Peak District with plenty of local walks. The owners K & L are very friendly and you are left alone to enjoy your holiday. The cottage is located on a working farm and therefore for safety reasons you are not permitted to wander around the farm yards or buildings. We had a wonderful holiday, and even had some snow.
We have had such a wonderful time here at Stag Cottage! The minute we walked in, we knew this cottage was very special. Its been decorated beautifully and it has such a cosy feel to it. We love all the accessories. The sofa and beds are so comfortable! Its a very peaceful place. We enjoyed cooking on the arga, a whole new experience for us! Loved seeing the farm cat and the dog, sheep, horses and goats! We met Kelvin and Liz and they are such lovely, welcoming hosts! Thoroughly enjoyed our time. Will come again! Thanks so much Kelvin & Liz. Jules & Chris, Suffolk.
We arrived at this beautiful cottage with a very warm welcome from Kelvin and Liz they were so friendly. It was a lovely weekend with it having the Christmas village taking place on the farm, even though the weather was terrible it didnt spoil it, we got to see all the animals and taste the mulled wine even got to meet Chef Marcus Bean and eat some of his amazing food. The cottage is outstanding the furnishings are top class, and the beds were so comfy, hot tub was great very hot, we had the best time and would definitely come back. Thank you Kelvin and Liz. Love from the ladies from Nottingham xx
A very enjoyable stay. Kelvin and Liz were excellent hosts and have renovated the cottage to an extremely high standard. We had an amazing weekend at the farm and were lucky enough to see the Christmas Special being filmed. To top it off we had real snow!! We will most certainly be back next year. Thanks Guys..
Stephanie
This property is absolutely stunning, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The owners were friendly and welcoming. The views are amazing, we will definitely be back
Richard
Luxury. We had a great time staying at Stag Cottage. Would certainly recommend.
We really loved this cottage. Beautifully designed and presented with 3 large bedrooms and two bathrooms and an enormous kitchen with an Aga. Outside was a very large wood fired jacuzzi which we used and was really nice.. They also left us a very generous welcome pack of wine, chocolates and popcorn. There are several pubs nearby where you can eat at and ,20 mins drive, is the pretty historic town of Buxton which is a must see. We would highly recommend this house.
Beautiful cottage in a delightful setting creating a peaceful rural retreat from the hurley burley of modern life. From the moment you enter the drive towards the property you step into a world of relaxation and tranquility. Liz and Kelvin are caring, very approachable and determined to make your stay memorable. A thoroughly enjoyable week. What a pity that Sykes Cottage admin before our departure from home was nothing like the experience we had with our previous 4 bookings.
Eleanor
We spent a week at the cottage as a family, and had a great time. The hosts K&L were gracious, friendly, responsive and personable, and really went out of their way to make our stay memorable. The kids loved seeing all the animals on the farm, feeding the chickens and holding the newborn piglets! The cottage is spacious, wellstocked, and recently decorated to a high spec. The hottub was a bonus on a cold, wet week! The location is perfect its remote enough so we could switch off and relax, but close enough to amenities in case needed. The village of Wincle about 2 miles away has a charming micro brewery and pub, and can be used as a departure point for some stunning country walks. The cottage is also within easy driving distance or ambitious walking distance of Lud's Church and the Roaches. A couple of really minor things Google Maps took us to the wrong farm just down the road, so some clearer directions would be helpful. I really appreciated the laundry service and it was professional and really quick, but as a family who did not pack enough clothes for a muddy week away!! it would have been helpful to do our own laundry once or twice so just worth noting that there is no washing machine a few extra kitchen utensils would have been helpful, e.g. peeler, spatula, serving cooking spoon, more crockery But all that being said, we had a fantastic week and would love to come back!
Fantastic property even better than the images suggested. Plus the family who owned the cottage were very welcoming. We loved it and would definitely go back for another trip.

Peak District National Park -
about 16 Miles
The Peak District National Park is the ideal place to relax and explore.  The stunning scenery will take your breath away and there is the opportunity to take part in ranger led guides and events.  These are ideal if you are new to the area or only staying a short time and want to see the best sights and walks.
Alton Towers - ST10 4DB
about 16 Miles
Of course you can't mention attractions in Staffordshire without featuring the fabulous Alton Towers theme park.  The rides range from thrilling to quite simply terrifying although there are more gentle family rides for the little ones.  All ages are catered for here.  Some of the most famoue rides include Th13teen, Air, The Blade and Nemesis.  There is also a waterpark on site for some splashtastic fun. Look out for seasonal events taking place throughout the year such as Wonderful Winter, Pirate Weekend and The Ultimate Fireworks Event.  Check out their website for the latest admission costs and save money by booking your tickets online.
Gullivers Kingdom - DE4 3NT
about 22 Miles
This is a top class theme park with plenty to do for the whole family.  From thrilling rides to more gentle activities for the little ones this place is ideal.  The best thing is that 50% of their attractions are under cover so the British weather needn't spoil the fun.
Heights of Abraham - DE4 3PT
about 22 Miles
This unique attraction combines an array of activities.  If you have a look on their website there are some good video clips which give an even better idea of what this attraction is all about.  Some of the highlights include the Cable Car system which is actually Britain's first alpine style cable car system.  You are transported from the valley floor right up above where you can enjoy superb Dewent Valley Views.  You can also stroll around 60 acres of wooded hillside on foot to see an array of birds and wildlife.
Gulliver's Kingdome - WA5 9YZ
about 22 Miles
Gulliver's Kingdome is a family friendly theme park offering many attractions for children of all ages. The site is rather unique and features a huge array of rides including log flumes, roller coasters and pirate ships. For the little ones there are rides such as the veteran cars and the balloon wheel and Diego and Dora the Explorer are on hand to make sure they are having a great time. Between the 21st and 31st of October the park becomes a spooky Halloween spectacular with a range of shows and fireworks to enjoy. Standard prices are £12.00 for adults and children over 90cm. Group booking discounts are available.
Go Ape Cheshire - WA16 6RW
about 24 Miles
Out of all of the Go Ape! courses the one in Cheshire is the most spread out and it takes staff ten minutes to patrol the site on bike - which gives a good indication of the size of this place.  If you're looking for an adventurous and memorable day out then Go Ape is highly recommended.  Trek through the treetops, swing between the trees and enjoy zip wire rides all as part of your experience.  This attraction opens every day from the end of March to end October and is open on weekends in November.  Go Ape Cheshire is closed every Tuesday except school holidays.
British Wildlife Rescue Centre - TN8 7AR
about 24 Miles
This is a really unique opportunity to see the fantastic work going on at this centre.  The purpose of the British Wildlife Rescue Centre is to treat and care for injured wildlife which cannot be released into the wild.  Many of the animals are brought to the centre by members of the public or the RSPCA.  Visit their website to see the picture gallery and to find out how to help if this is something which interests you.  There are also regular fundraising events such as the Sponsered Leg Wax.
Gulliver's World Theme Park - WA5 9YZ
about 26 Miles
This is a very popular theme park with three different locations.  The theme park in Warrington contains not only the theme park but also Gullivers Splash Zone and Gullivers Star Studios.  The Solash Zone is a fully heated indoor water play factory fun for all ages which will appeal on rainy days.  Throughout the year there are seasonal events too such as the Halloween and Fireworks event taking place from 23rd to 31st October.  You can book online to save time and secure your tickets during busy periods.  Over 50% of the rides are actually under cover so you don't need to worry about the British weather spoiling the fun.
