Colin
The accommodation has pros and cons. Needs a bit of refreshing and some things replaced, especially kitchen utensils. Great fridge which was spotless. It's a spacious cottage however carpet in hallway, living room and stairs was grubby, needs replaced with something more practical., not carpet. Hot tub is great addition and private. Beds were comfoRead morertable, showers good. Nice location, convenient for both lakes and dales. Plenty of places to walk in the local area. Food at Globe Inn was nice. Hide

Gorgeous accommodation - tastefully furnished and decorated. A lovely open plan living area with a spacious kitchen. Hot tub was great and a lovely addition. The pub opposite served amazing food as well - much better than pub grub and more like fine dining quality! Just around 20 mins from Pooley Bridge and the walks around Ullswater and a little f urther to Keswick - so a great place to stay at as a base and an all round lovely accommodation!
S
Spacious clean cottage on secure grounds. Got prompt assistance when requested. We hadnt realised The Globe Inn only opens at 3PM ( disappointed as had planned hot food there before 4PM check-in). Hot tub was great. Tele in each room and good WiFi access was very useful with the cold, wet weather. Overall had a lovely relaxing time.

I would thoroughly recommend anyone to stay at Calthwaite Hall Carriage House. The property is spotless and the staff were very accommodating too. The Globe Inn pub, which is located just a stones throw away, is also well worth a visit. The food and real ale is excellent and is perfect for dog owners too. The staff were wonderful.

Family with 2 kids, thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It was all ideal. The cottage was clean, tidy and comfortable and set in a gorgeous location, the hot tub was superb. The property is really well thought out, we felt it is like a home from home. Parking no issue & the pub is 2 minutes walk away and it is set in an Idyllic setting, with great places not too far away to visit. Cannot recommend highly enough. Tony & the staff were all lovely and welcoming. Will definitely be back if they'll have us.

Tullie House Museum & Art Gallery - CA3 8TP
about 10 Miles
This is a museum and art gallery in one and will suit those looking for an educational and cultural day out.  You can explore the fantastic art collection including Fine Art, Decorative Art and Textiles.  If you love nature then this aspect of Tullie House will appeal. The museum holds large and important collections of zoological, botanical and geological material. And for lovers of history there is plenty to wet your appetite here. Tullie House collects a wide range of historic materials including objects, ephemera (printed material), photographs and associated information files.  We think this museum and art gallery are excellent value for money as well.
Ullswater Steamers - CA11 0US
about 15 Miles
This is an award winning Lake District attraction and they have been operating cruisers on Lake Ullswater for over 150 years.  There is no better way to explore the lakes than on water and you could even combine a cruise with a spectacular walk.  For great days out in this region then this attraction is highly recommended and will appeal to couples as well as families.  Corporate groups are also well catered for.
Lake District Wildlife Park - CA12 4RD
about 16 Miles
We love this day out in Cumbria where you're encouraged to "take a fresh look".  Some of the amazing animals you will get to see include the only Canadian Lynx in the UK and you will have the opportunity to help their Lynx Conservation Project.  The Asian Fishing Cat is also well worth a look - these cats are known for diving under the water and catching fish!  Other activities include fantastic flying displays and play areas for the little ones...
Rydal Mount & Gardens - LA22 9LU
about 21 Miles
Rydal Mount & Gardens are wonderfully situated between Lake Windermere and Rydal Water offering breathtaking scenery. The home of William Wordsworth from 1813 - 1850 the grand home is now lived in by the poets descendents but parts of the house and grounds are open to the public. Why not take a guided tour and see the rooms where many of the famous poems were written. The gardens are beautiful at all times of the year but in the summer offer a spectacular display of colour. There is also a gallery and a tearoom. Discounts are available for group bookings.
