36 Raven's Rest Reviews

Shelley
Absolutely Fab Lodge. Best one we've stayed at in terms of equipment in the lodge. Welcome pack of tea, coffee sugar, milk & cookies, bin bags, loo roll, dishwasher tablets & washing up liquid all appreciated. Extras include cordless hoover, hairdryer in each room , clothes airer, games, linen, enough crockery & utensils to cook a roast dinner including a top quality air fryer. Although there are no visible settings on the cooker dails it's not difficult to find which ring is which or how to work the oven. Yes you can hear some road noise but as the park is off a busy route we knew we might. Easy to walk dogs along side of road for their business am & pm but definitely had to go out in car for longer walks which again we googled location and knew how close to lake district we were this wasn't a problem. Warden on site was very friendly, gave recommendations for walks, park is kept immaculate by ground men who are out tidying every day. In all a lovely week in lovely homely lodge which we will definitely think of returning too.
Kimberley
Lovely lodge, warm, spacious and very clean. All amenities required, great hot tub which was very accessible. Nice welcome items and good communication re keys directions. We thought it was a good location for travelling to different places each day
Excellent property very clean and spacious for 6 and a dog. Everything was perfect with lots of extra touches, air fryer, Xbox and cordless vacuum just to name a few.
We stayed here in August 24 for 3 nights. It has everything you could need for a comfortable stay. The mattresses were comfortable, the bedding was lovely and clean. Everything you need in the kitchen to prepare meals. The hot tub was fabulous. Overall a lovely place to spend a few days away.
Corinne
Great lodge with everything you need and more. Quiet park, great location, central to so many things to do, wish we could have stayed longer. The lodge was very clean, tea, coffee, sugar, biscuits and jam provided. We don't have a dog and you could not tell this is a pet friendly van. Carpets clean and soft. The towels seemed new, comfy beds, spacious rooms enjoyed the little walk in wardrobe. The hot tub was nice and warm with great views and privacy screens which was nice. We really enjoyed our stay here and would definately stay here again. The only downside to the site was no recycling facilities.
This is a lovely property,1823 miles from Lake District. Very quiet and feels safe.I really liked the countryside view including cows, amazing to see. Property is bigger than you see on the picture, very clean and has everything you need in a home ,particularly impressed with kitchen equipments and modern furniture. Comfortable bedrooms and clean bedding. We loved the hottub and really enjoyed it ,however one side of the hottub stopped bubbling and we attempted to contact someone using the number on contact but the people who answered said they no longer maintain the property it would be helpful to update contact number,we even attempted WhatsApp as directed and live chat but no reply. Overall lovely comfortable, clean property which felt like home straightaway. Thanks for the jam and milk ,coffee sugar and tea. Home from home ,we cant wait to come again

Lovely stay in a fantastic lodge. Fully loaded with all facilities and entertainment. Great location between Penrith and Carlisle.

Only thing I found was the hold down bar for hot tub would not stay up while in hot tub was in use, very much a hazard if trying to relax and all of a sudden the bar comes crashing down onto your head. But everything else spot on very happy with the accommodation
George
It was a very nice break but the instructions on leaving, wash and dry all dishes, leave the dishwasher empty, strip all the beds, empty the rubbish. Isnt that what a cleaner is employed for. Also no recycling very disappointing.
The property is gorgeous. Lots of extras. However the gas ran out on day 2, rang the number, not opened so rang emergency number 3 times, no answer. Managed to get it sorted with the on site manager, who contacted the owner. This should have been checked before our stay. Cannot see the numbers on gas cooker. Other than this we all enjoyed our stay. One of the best we have stayed in. Will definitely be returning.
Very happy with the facilities, the lodge was clean and tidy and the views from the hot tub were amazing. The lodge was equipped with everything needed and more. Would recommend to others and will be looking to revisit.
Great few days away and lodge had everything you needed. Would really recommend for anyone too stay there
Great weekend, In a beautiful place. Everything about the property was perfect and it had everything we needed while we was there, It was clean and comfy, and I would certainly recommend it to family and friends
Lindsay
The property was immaculate and everything was perfect on arrival . The starter pack was fabulous we forgot our coffee!! thank you . The hot tub was perfect.. We had an amazing time. There was only one little issue with the cooker but is was resolved immediately on a phone call . We will certainly be going again . Just a relaxing perfect stay .

This caravan was really well equipped. The owner has thought of everything! I pack everything but the kitchen sink but didnt need it all on this occasion. Very spacious and looked like new. Great property. Really peaceful area to stay in.
I booked this property as it was listed as 'Encapsulated by the peace and tranquillity of Cumbrias countryside' 'A wonderful holiday lodge perched on the tranquil High Hesket Park'. These are the first lines of the description and everything the lodge is not. It is not even a 2 minute walk to verge of the A6. Vehicles hurtle up and down it at all hours and even in the quieter moments, it is never peaceful nor tranquil. In the evening in the hot tub the sound of traffic and the headlights of them totally take away any sense of countryside. 'After changeover, hot tub can take up to 5 hours to reach optimum temperature' There needs to be clearer information regarding the time the hot tub will be ready as even at 8pm on the first evening, it was not at temperature. I was told by Sykes when i called that the cleaner had left at 11 and said it was heating up then. At 6pm, 7 hours later it was only at 29 and nowhere close enough to be warm enough to sit in even at 8pm. Very disappointed as it was the reason I booked this lodge as the other guest has a spinal fusion disability. Does changeover refer to when the last checkout was 10am or when you check in 3pm. Clarity is key. More importantly, the lodge is not safe. The gas oven and hob is dangerous. There are no markings on any of the dials so you have no idea which hob ring or oven might or might not light or be on. A gas hob could have been emitting gas and you dont know as there is no knowing which is on and which is off as there are literally no markings. This on its own should have made the owner rethink letting the property. The health and safety of guests must be paramount and it is not here. I feel cheated. I am most unhappy about this and believe the lodge should be shut down until the oven is changed. I also believe that due to this I should be more than entitled to request a significant refund on my costs. We ended up having to eat out every day for both lunch and dinner as i was not comfortable using the hob and oven. I await your response.

Me and my daughter booked Ravens Rest for a girlie relaxing few days away, The lodge was lovely, the hot tub was great after a few nice walks. The site nice and quiet with nice views. We enjoyed our stay that much that I contacted Sykes to extend our stay. Unfortunately the price I was quoted for 1 extra night was considerably higher than what I was expecting so declined and booked a hotel for the extra night instead which was a lot cheaper. Thank you to the owners for the little extra touches of pots of jam, biscuits and milk.
Excellent stay all amenities did what it said on the tin
Louise
We had an absolutely wonderful stay at Ravens Rest. The accommodation was beautiful, immaculate, modern, well stocked and lovely extra little touches like board games, milk, coffee, jam selection, and some essential cleaning supplies etc as well as some miniature toiletries in each bathroom. The washerdryer came in really useful, especially with multiple daily uses of the hot tub, which was bliss. Great location located on a quiet caravan park, brilliantly maintained site located far enough out of towns to feel like you are in the country but close enough for everything to be accessible. Would definitely revisit and would highly recommend.
George
Very clean and all as described! Excellent stay will definitely be back . Thanks
We have recently visited this place and we have all returned full of biteslumps. On further inspection we realised the hot tub was dirty. We found used plasters in the hot tub. Not somewhere I'd return to!

Tullie House Museum & Art Gallery - CA3 8TP
about 9 Miles
This is a museum and art gallery in one and will suit those looking for an educational and cultural day out.  You can explore the fantastic art collection including Fine Art, Decorative Art and Textiles.  If you love nature then this aspect of Tullie House will appeal. The museum holds large and important collections of zoological, botanical and geological material. And for lovers of history there is plenty to wet your appetite here. Tullie House collects a wide range of historic materials including objects, ephemera (printed material), photographs and associated information files.  We think this museum and art gallery are excellent value for money as well.
Ullswater Steamers - CA11 0US
about 17 Miles
This is an award winning Lake District attraction and they have been operating cruisers on Lake Ullswater for over 150 years.  There is no better way to explore the lakes than on water and you could even combine a cruise with a spectacular walk.  For great days out in this region then this attraction is highly recommended and will appeal to couples as well as families.  Corporate groups are also well catered for.
Lake District Wildlife Park - CA12 4RD
about 18 Miles
We love this day out in Cumbria where you're encouraged to "take a fresh look".  Some of the amazing animals you will get to see include the only Canadian Lynx in the UK and you will have the opportunity to help their Lynx Conservation Project.  The Asian Fishing Cat is also well worth a look - these cats are known for diving under the water and catching fish!  Other activities include fantastic flying displays and play areas for the little ones...
Rydal Mount & Gardens - LA22 9LU
about 24 Miles
Rydal Mount & Gardens are wonderfully situated between Lake Windermere and Rydal Water offering breathtaking scenery. The home of William Wordsworth from 1813 - 1850 the grand home is now lived in by the poets descendents but parts of the house and grounds are open to the public. Why not take a guided tour and see the rooms where many of the famous poems were written. The gardens are beautiful at all times of the year but in the summer offer a spectacular display of colour. There is also a gallery and a tearoom. Discounts are available for group bookings.
Kielder Water Bird of Prey Centre - NE48 1BT
about 29 Miles
Housing the most fascinating collection of Birds of Prey in the North East this centre is definitely worth a visit if you are staying in the Kielder Water area. Located in Falstone it's easy to get to and makes a great day out for both families and couples.  As well as seeing the amazing birds you can learn all about the captive breeding programme and the excellent work being done there.  Some of the highlights of the day might include watching a Falcon stoop down from the skies at over 100mph and admiring the grace of the Eagles, Kites and Hawks.
