Excellent hosts Magnificent location and the barn conversion is superb Hot ... Excellent hosts Magnificent location and the barn conversion is superb Hot tub and views superb Great area for visiting the local attractions and walking Highly recommend
We really enjoyed our stay at Foxglove. It was comfortable, cosy and very peaceful. The conversion had been done to a very high standard and provided us with everything we could possibly want from a holiday let. A real bonus was the amazing view from the properties. We were able to look out over the valley and the moors with the added attraction of being able to see the steam trains of the North York Moors railway passing by. Our days started with the most amazing sunrises.
Lindsey
We enjoyed our stay at Foxglove. Just what I needed. Peace and quiet. Didnt want to leave.
Maggie
Brilliant place to stay. ..landscape is stunning. Cottage lovely everything you need and more. Loved the hot tub and watching the steam train go by. Watching the barn owl was magical. Hosts are very welcoming. Away from.it all...very peaceful. The only downside is the track to reach the property...mud track with lots of pot holes.
Carmen
Foxglove was excellent place to stay It had everything you needed from a dishwasher to a washing machine ect Towels were provided and after a long day walking you can relax in the hot tub when you get back. The views were amazing from foxglove and you could sit in hot tub and watch the steam train go by. You also get a gift for you when you arrive but you will have to book.to find that one out. All in all I would definitely recommend foxglove
The property was amazing, very clean, the setting was amazing, views breathtaking. Denise was amazing, very friendly and would definitely recommend this property. Would 100 go back.
Richard
A delightful cozy and comfortable stay at Foxglove, idyllic surroundings in which to totally chill out. With the added attraction of the steam train passing by several times a day. Denise was a warm and friendly host and her dogs Casper and Ozzie were excellent entertainment value. All in all we would highly recommend a stay at Foxglove.
The property is accessed by a long track approximately 0. 4 of a mile rest assured you are on the correct route. Property stunning and very clean. Owner Denise friendly and happy to give advice. We loved the peaceful surrounding the only sounds were of nature. Being able to relax in the hub tub and see the Barn Owl swoop over and the ducks waddle by was very special. Many walks on the doorstep, we were lucky enough to see deer whilst staying at Foxglove. We totally enjoyed our stay and will happily return
We had a lovely 4 night stay at Foxglove. We received a warm welcome from Denise and her 2 sons, and found the property very clean and wellequipped for our stay our only recommendations would be some lids for the saucepans and some fairy liquid in the kitchen. The property had beautiful views over the valley and a fantastic hot tub which we enjoyed every evening. We also had lots of fun with the 2 golden Labradors who were very friendly, and it was great to see the ducks and chickens! Thank you!
Annette
Beautifully renovated barn in a fabulous setting. Very cosy and comfortable with everything you could need. We received a warm welcome from host Denise. One of the most memorable highlights is sitting in the hot tub with a glass of wine, watching the steam trains pass in the valley below. Highly recommended.
A genuinely beautiful cottage with genuinely beautiful surroundings, the owners are also genuinely decent and kind people, very welcoming and warm. The welcome pack was certainly above average and the overall level of relaxation and peace was soon very evident, All in all very limited in what to say that could have improved our stay, and in truth with all the positives experienced it would feel petty to even consider mentioning anything .
We arrived to a very warm welcome from Denise and her gorgeous labradors Casper and Ozzie. The converted barn was exceptionally clean and had an amazing view.We loved to watch the steam train chuffing by as we relaxed in the hot tub,Also our daily visits from the dogs, ducks and Gus the cat.If you love nature walks and scenery this is the place to Stay.Thank you Denise for a wonderful week.
Lovely cottage , beautiful surroundings, peaceful , and visits from the dogs and ducks.
Our recent week's stay at Foxglove, exceeded any expectations we might have had. We were welcomed by Denise on arrival who explained everything. Denise was the most hospitable and friendly host we have ever had the fortune of meeting! The place was spotless, beautifully decorated and we even had a lovely hamper waiting for us too. Denise even took showed us her fabulous duck pond and all the chickens, cockerels and rabbits! What a lovely lady! We had the most fabulous relaxing week. The hot tub was 5 and we'd often watch the steam train trundle by in the valley below, then there were the visits from super friendly and funny Ozzy & Casper the doggies Gaz the cat and the 4 friendly white ducks on our doorstep a twice a day!! We cannot wait to revisit Foxglove. It truly was a very special place and a hidden gem. Great places to visit in Whitby too, thoroughly recommend the Park & Ride. Free parking and 2.60 per person return & 10 mins on the bus. We can honestly say, we arrived at Foxglove as guests, but left as friends. Special thanks to Christopher Denise's son for his kindness, always being on hand and checking the hot tub every day!
Thank you for the lovely welcome when we arrived, just what we needed after our very long drive even your animal friends came to say hello!
Foxglove is a lovely cottage in a fantastic setting. The welcome from Denise and her basket of goodies was first rate. The cottage is perfect for a couple, you have everything you need. Lovely kitchen with all mod cons, cosy living room, with smart tv, comfy bed with adjoining shower room. Then the cherry on top is the hot tub looking over that view, watching the Steam Trains passing by. Perfect peaceful get away with lovely walks nearby.
We found Foxglove to be a clean, comfortable and peaceful country cottage. It was a treat to enjoy the fabulous views across the valley whilst relaxing in the hot tub. Our hosts were very friendly and welcoming. We appreciated the welcome pack and fresh laid eggs. The cottage is within easy reach of Whitby and the coast. There are also great walking opportunities and the Heritage North Yorkshire Moors Railway near by.

A half mile or so track takes you to this beautiful converted barn with stunning views across the Esk Valley. The barn has been converted to a high standard by the owners with vision and imagination. Foxglove is perfect for a couple and we loved our time there.

Beautiful little lodge perfect for two, hot tub was lovely and we couldnt stay out of it the owners where exceptional, always there if you needed them or just wanted a chat and where never intrusive the place was clean and tidy and they even left us a welcome basket of goodies for our arrival, the various animals wondering about where always a lovely sight to see matched with the scenic views of forestry and steam trains couldn't be happier with our choice to stay
Caroline
The cottage is beautiful and on the whole, well equipped. We mentioned to Denise whilst we were staying that the addition of a towel rail in the bathroom and a small light in the dining area would make it perfect. We had to resort to hanging our towels on the clothes horse each day as there was nowhere to put them to dry after a shower. The track down to the cottage is definitely not for the faint hearted. I had no idea reading the reviews that is was so steep and would have really appreciated it being mentioned before we booked. Yes the views are stunning once you get down to the cottage but it would have been nice to know how steep and long the track was beforehand. For those wanting peace and quiet as well as stunning views this cottage is perfect.
The cottage was just lovely, we wanted for nothing . Parking right outside the door. We both slept very well, bed really comfortable nice bedding and not forgetting the hot tub best one we have had, the view from the hot tub is amazing . Check the map and websites to plan day trips to see whats going on . I would like to say a very big thank you to Denise fantastic host the fresh eggs from the chickens was a big plus for us. A very big thank you
Elspeth
Beautiful barn conversion in a lovely location overlooking the NYMR. Friendly hosts and mostly well equipped, though missed a cafetiere, and a towel rail in the bathroom would be helpful. Really appreciated the dishwasher though! As others have noted the track to the property is steep and very potholed, glad it wasn't too muddy while we were there.
Joanne
Amazing property and a wonderful host. The view was stunning and it's set in a secluded peaceful location. The property has been beautifully converted and has everything you need. Lots of local knowledge and details provided. We really didn't want to leave!! Would certainly recommend a stay here.
Foxglove was perfect in every way. Cosy, clean and well equipped, I wanted for nothing and had an extremely enjoyable stay.
We had a very peaceful time here. Beautiful surroundings, views, animals, and the cottage overall. The family were lovely, very helpful and friendly, we were sad leaving. There are some beautiful walks, amazing pubs with fires and excellent food, this place alot of character and beauty. We hope one day to return. Idyllic
Jessica
Could not have asked for a more perfect holiday cottage experience. Gorgeous location, warm and friendly hosts and spotlessly clean. We loved stargazing in the hot tub, being greeted by all the animals and playing games by the log burner at night. Denise and family have thought of everything and are so helpful and inviting. An amazing getaway we can't wait to come back!
Nicola
Lovely cottage with great views, you can watch the steam trains in the valley below or the stars from the hot tub at night, plus the wildlife or just gaze at the lovely scenery. Peaceful location in a great spot for visiting Whitby and beyond. Denise and her family are really friendly and welcoming. The animals are amazing, chickens, cats and of course Casper the dog, great to engage with all of them. Casper is kept under good control for those worried about dogs. Could not recommend this cottage enough. Denise and family have done a great job and deserve every success.

Located in Harwood Dale Village, North Yorkshire we think this attraction makes a superb family day out and couples will also enjoy the nature walks in the area.  There are 6 nature walks in total surrounding the farm so walkers and lovers of the outdoors will be in their element. Some of our favourite walks include the Spring Flowers, Pond and Village walk which takes around 35 minutes, and the Meadow and Trees walk which takes one hour.
Flamingo Land - YO60 7EW

Situated in Malton in North Yorkshire this has to be one of our favourite family days out.  It's a theme park and zoo all in one stretching over a massive 400 acres. With thrilling rides for the very daring like Cliff Hanger, Corkscrew and Kumali, there are also more gentle rides for the little ones such as Frog Hopper and Helitoys.  Family fun attractions include the 4D cinema, the lost river ride and the Little Monsters Den of Mischief. Check out their website for seasonal events which take place throughout the year and you can also gain more information about the zoo.  Flamingo Land is a resort as well as a theme park so you can also book accommodation there.

Visitors will enjoy a journey beneath the waves, meeting many strange, beautiful and fascinating creatures of the deep. As well as mighty sharks and beautiful rays guests can get up close to some more common creatures including star fish and can also meet the otters, seals and penguins at feeding time. Betton Farm Visitor Centre is the ideal attraction close to the North Yorkshire coastal town of Scarborough. This animal farm has all the cute farm animals you would expect to see and will appeal to younger children especially.  A great place to both play and learn we think the Betton Farm Visitor centre is great value for money.  Check out their website for the latest opening times and admission costs.  Some of the highlights of the day might include meeting Sofie the Shetland Pony and Henry the goat, as well as the pot bellied pigs called Porky and Hammy.
