Beachcrest Reviews

Lovely property, ticked all the boxes for the holiday we like. Only thing was no tin opener or oven gloves. Fab location with parking which is always a bonus in Whitby. Would definitely recommend.
Sharon
Fabulous property and gave us everything we needed for a family get together The house is very warm and welcoming and 8 of us enjoyed lovely meals around the table and games in the lounge. Beds very comfortable after long walks on the beach and trips along the coast. House situated in a quiet area with fabulous views from the kitchen window across the golf course to Sandsend and beyond was spectacular watching the snow come over the land down to the sea Pub across the road served excellent meals too Plans to update the property would improve the facilities but hopefully not increase the cost so to loose current customers. We hope to be back in 2025
We had a good time with family. Scenery is stunningly beautiful towards Sandsend, imho only spoiled by golf course! Lots of things were provided, most worked most of the time. Local folk were mostly very friendly and helpful, such as the maintenance men and Costcutter shop. It cannot be easy renting out a holiday home in these expensive & demanding times as other renters have pointed out, converting this former guest house needs much investment as does Whitby, obviously some has been done, some maybe still to do. We have stayed at some better Sykes and other cottages, but overall this met most of our needs for the price.
Jacquelyn
We had a lovely break but the cottage needs some tlc. I get it is towards the end of season but there should be consistency. Some guests got welcome packs and some not, we did not, again consistency. Nice TVs in 3 rooms, but you could only get basic channels on the bedroom one, not great if you are a strictly fan. Cleaners turned up mid week not realising we were there till Saturday.
Joanne
The plants on the steps coming up from the drive needed cutting back & back grass mowing! ! The windows & surrounds were dirty & spiders webs that had been there a while behind the blinds. Bought oven gloves & left as none there. Really enjoyed the hot tub & the size of the rooms & lovely views!! Beds comfy & clean . Had a great time
Valerie
Beautiful property we enjoyed our stay, a couple of issues we had was the hot tub lid kept coming loose and the barbecue hadn't been cleaned, really dirty plus when we tried to light it there wasn't any gas. Also no ping pong balls so we couldnt play table tennis. The beds were really comfortable and a great location would definitely stay again
Cathryn
Well what a fantastic holiday home, went with hubby, dad, 3 teenagers and a dog, the games room with ping pong, darts and huge cinema tv was great for all the family. Hot tub was great and really well planned out with regards to privacy with shed, fridge and surrounding seating areas. Sea views from most windows and Lovely secure garden for the dog and covered seating area with bbq. The house had everything we needed and more. Also very spacious. We loved the walk into Whitby along the seafront, took about 20mins at a casual stroll. With pitch n putt, footgolf, crazy golf and an ice cream place along the way. We had a few rainy days so the bus stop at the top of the road near the shop was perfect to go straight into Whitby bus station. The pub across the road we would highly recommend. Very nice food, sea views and dog friendly. Was nice to meet the guy that came to clean the hot tub when we were leaving as he came from Wigan like us. Lovely man who also took away some of our rubbish as we had a lot! so Thankyou cant remember his name We would definitely stay here again next time we come to Whitby. Thankyou
Jennifer
Lovely house in a fabulous location. It ia well equipped with everything you could possibly need. Very clean with comfortable seating and beds .The games room cinema room and hot tub area was a fantastic addition to the property. And the gardens both front and back were really safe and fully enclosed for our dogs , which we really appreciated. We had a lovely time and honestly couldnt fault it. Would definitely recommend.
Samantha
Enjoyed very much just a few issues curtain pole was fixed quick. Didnt use living room as no signal to tv.1 blind slat was cut at the bottom how I have not a clue. Date for bin collection need updating as we missed collection and bin was quite full on arrival. Having said this was very enjoyable stay. But the owner was exceptional. I would definitely stay again relaxing time at the Beachcrest cottage.
Andrew
Fantastic holiday house with all you need and more. Loved the hot tub and table tennis.
We enjoyed our stay at Beachcroft very much. The hot tub is a real star attraction, especially for children. The position of the accommodation is perfect, a short walk to the beach, on a regular bus route and a lovely inn across the road that does delicious meals at a good price. A great place for a family holiday.
Sharon
Lovely little house with gorgeous views in a fab location easy access to Whitby . Free parking ,great enclosed garden safe for dogs and fabulous hot tub only downside no outdoor lights only solar no good in winter .Extremely comfortable beds and Everything you need supplied at this house highly recommended would love to go back in the summer .
Great setting. Beautiful views across the golf course and sea. Felt the bathroom facilities let the property down for the potential number of guests the house could accommodate. We didnt use the bunk room but it did look a little claustrophobic. The downstairs bedrooms are very comfortable and the kitchen is very modern, light and airy. Upstairs bedrooms were stuffy due to the velux windows not opening and appeared to be screwed shut. Allinall we enjoyed our stay at Beachcrest but feel there is room for improvement
Bathrooms were no adequate
Abigail
What a beautiful home to rent. I would suggest that more information is given about the hot tub. There are no photos and this is a fantastic luxury. In little private courtyard with a tropicalbeach vibe. The bedrooms were lovely and really nicely presented. The Kitchen amazing. Another point being that the listing doesnt state theres a dishwasher so that was a great bonus. The only part that lets the property down is the bathrooms. They are very small and not on the same scale as the rest of the property. However there is a limit as to what could be done due to the space available but maybe the upstairs bathroom would benefit a refit.
Amanda
Lovely location and an ideal base for walks along beech and into town. Hot tub very popular with our group. Beautiful clean and comfy beds but with 6 adults and a small child, only one usable shower over bath shower ok for 6 year old only and a toilet that had to sit side saddle! Games room in converted garage and cinema room next door only accessible via steep steps down from kitchen and separate outside door. Neither welcoming anyone with mobility issues could not access without great care.
Location perfect, house was better than we expected, so comfortable, beds so comfortable too, everything you needed well thought about, even bowls for the dog. Pub handy just over the road their food was lovely. the only thing I would say is the BBQ needed attention and it hadn't been cleaned, we wasn't going to use it anyway but the next people would.
We had a fabulous stay the accommodation was brilliant. the beds were exceptionally comfy. We could easily walk down to the beach and into Whitby. The White House Inn was very hospitable and the food excellent. We would definitely recommend Beach Crest.
Property was great , very spacious and good facilties , the hot tub was a life saver after all the walking and we made use of the table tennis table most nights . Kitchen was good n lots of room to eat meals for all of us 2 kids ,6 adults and a dog , garden was enclosed and perfectly safe for the dog and the living room was warm and comfortable. Couple of negatives , the mattress was to soft for me although everyone else was happy lol and the biggest minus was, we felt you need bigger rubbish bins ,both filled very quickly with the amount of people in our party . That said ,overall our stay was amazing and the property and location were superb .
Excellent property for our 3 generation family to stay in. The beds were very comfy, everywhere was clean and the kitchen equipment provided was excellent. The kids & adults all really enjoyed the hot tub and the table tennis. Close enough to Whitby and Sandsend for a leisurely stroll in along the clifftops. We also had a lovely meal at the White House pub across the road, as well as fabulous fish and chips in Whitby!
Alejandro
Jon is a fantastic host. The house is brilliant. It would benefit from a more comfortable shower room and toilet, and a more powerful shower. We would also suggest that a 10am checkout time is far, far too early for a house of this size and standard. We would recommend this house, where we spent a short but lovely break.
A very nice property with great facilities. It is in a great position with a short walk to the beach and a 15 minute walk into Whitby. I would recommend this property to family and friends
Victoria
Would have liked to have know that the cinema room and games room could only be accessed outside. I thought there may have been stairs inside. Also really needs a blind in the downstairs shower room and some sort of screen in the upstairs bathroom do that when you have a shower it doesn't go everywhere. Overhaul the house was amazing and the location perfect.
Louise
We stayed at the Beachcrest from 251122 for one week for my husband's 65th birthday, our children and grandchildren also stayed with us. The house was spotlessly clean and very well equipped for large families. There were plenty of pots and pans for cooking and a range oven, if you wanted to cook meals instead of eating out during your stay. The house is well located, only a 2 minute walk to the beach and a pleasant walk into Whitby town centre. There is also a hotel across the road, which has a bar and serves meals, if you do not fancy cooking, they also sell pizzas to take out. The owner had made the property very homely and there was a Christmas tree up when we arrived, he also left us complementary Tea, coffee, milk, and biscuits. There is a lovely garden, which if staying there during the summer months would be a lovely space to spend sunny afternoons. There is also a hot tub in the garden, which we did utilise during our stay, which was a nice extra touch. The only small negative comment I would make about this property was, it had a beautiful kitchen that as a family we spent a lot of family time in there and during the evenings it was not very private. There are 3 windows in the kitchen, and one is directly opposite the hotel, so people coming and going would constantly look straight in as the light was on. There was also no blind at the downstairs bathroom window. Apart from these 2 small things, the house was amazing and I would definitely recommend staying there. A beautiful home.
We had an excellent break in a fantastic property. The owners were very welcoming as we arrived, taking time to show us around the property and give us tips on the local area. The property has recently been refurbished top to bottom and is fitted out to a really high standard. Not something we expected to find or spend any time in! but the hot tub was definitely a highlight for us all As a group of five we really benefited from the communal space and being able to find our own space the gamescinema room downstairs. More practical things the washing machine, dishwasher, two showers, off road parking for two cars and really generous storage space downstairs really suited our group who were out and about on the North Yorks coast. It's a short and easy walk to the centre of Whitby about 1015 minutes and even less to the beach. If you don't fancy venturing that far then the local pub is just a minute away and does a great Sunday roast I would strongly recommend this property to any groups or larger families looking for a break in Whitby.

The Grainary Wildlife Farm - YO25 3HS
about 10 Miles
Located in Harwood Dale Village, North Yorkshire we think this attraction makes a superb family day out and couples will also enjoy the nature walks in the area.  There are 6 nature walks in total surrounding the farm so walkers and lovers of the outdoors will be in their element. Some of our favourite walks include the Spring Flowers, Pond and Village walk which takes around 35 minutes, and the Meadow and Trees walk which takes one hour.
Scarborough Sea Life and Marine Sanctuary - YO12 6RP
about 15 Miles
If you are enjoying a lodge break in the Yorkshire Moors and Coast then a day trip to the Scarborough Sea Life and Marine Sanctuary highly recommended. This centre is one of the regions most popular attractions and is educational as well as fun. Visitors will enjoy a journey beneath the waves, meeting many strange, beautiful and fascinating creatures of the deep. As well as mighty sharks and beautiful rays guests can get up close to some more common creatures including star fish and can also meet the otters, seals and penguins at feeding time. The site also has children's play area and picnic tables as well as a restaurant and souvenir shop. Family tickets cost £46.80 but the Tourist Information Centres in Scarborough, Whitby or Filey often offer fantastic discounts.
Sea Life Marine Sanctuary - YO12 6RP
about 15 Miles
Located in the Scalby Mills area of Scarborough this makes a fun family day out for those who are interested in marine life. The fantastic ocean tank is well worth seeing - it's been transformed into a Turtle Reef and you can see an amazing array of colourful reef fish and coral. You may also catch a glimpse of the tropical sharks and turtles. Offering good value for money this is a day out with a difference and an all weather attraction.
Peasholm Park - YO12 6QQ
about 16 Miles
This attraction is ideal for sunny days as the beautiful park is ideal for wandering out and taking in the scenery.  You can hire boats including rowing boats and canoes to enjoy the views from the water.  The pedalos with the dragon heads are always a popular choice too. Look out for special events including the Battle of Peasholm Park Naval Battle which has been described as a "must see".  You can also take a ride on the North Bay Railway which will delight children.
Betton Farm Visitor Centre - TF9 3PS
about 17 Miles
Betton Farm Visitor Centre is the ideal attraction close to the North Yorkshire coastal town of Scarborough. This animal farm has all the cute farm animals you would expect to see and will appeal to younger children especially.  A great place to both play and learn we think the Betton Farm Visitor centre is great value for money.  Check out their website for the latest opening times and admission costs.  Some of the highlights of the day might include meeting Sofie the Shetland Pony and Henry the goat, as well as the pot bellied pigs called Porky and Hammy.
Flamingo Land - YO60 7EW
about 20 Miles
Situated in Malton in North Yorkshire this has to be one of our favourite family days out.  It's a theme park and zoo all in one stretching over a massive 400 acres. With thrilling rides for the very daring like Cliff Hanger, Corkscrew and Kumali, there are also more gentle rides for the little ones such as Frog Hopper and Helitoys.  Family fun attractions include the 4D cinema, the lost river ride and the Little Monsters Den of Mischief. Check out their website for seasonal events which take place throughout the year and you can also gain more information about the zoo.  Flamingo Land is a resort as well as a theme park so you can also book accommodation there.
Castle Howard - YO60 7DA
about 27 Miles
Castle Howard is one of the regions most beautiful and historic landmarks and is located in 1,000 acres of parkland with breathtaking gardens to explore. As well as exploring the castle visitors can enjoy attractios including the unique Land Train - the best way to see the entire park. There is also a large lake offering boat trips during the summer months. In high season the site is very popular with families and offers organised activities for children including tours, talks, crafting and animal encounters. The site also has a Nature Trail which is fun for the whole family and an Adventure Playground where children can run off some energy.
Yorkshire Lavender - YO60 6PB
about 28 Miles
Yorkshire Lavender is an amazing award winning attraction offering breathtaking panoramic views of York, a Café, Plant Nursery and Lavender Gardens. The 60 acre site is set in an area of outstanding natural beauty and is an excellent choice for a day trip. The onsite shops sells Lavender products such as bath and body treats, skincare, medicine and herbal remedies.
