Ash Bank, Jacobs Wood Reviews

Richard
Claire met us on arrival and she was lovely. The barn was very nice and we would love to stay again when we want to come back to Yorkshire .
Philip
Greeting lovely from Claire. Steve helpful at gate. This is a very very good rental in every respect, with excellent facilities and high quality equipment. Spotlessly clean. Beds excellently comfortable with high quality sheets etc. Location and view plus night sky unrivalled. Fabulous! We are in our seventies, main seating very good but rather low. An additional easy chair of normal height would have been welcomed also a handrail in the shower would be good. very minor nit pick!
Judith
The accommodation was absolutely stunning. Claire was very welcoming on arrival. Wants for nothing. Loved the hot tub in the evenings even in the rain. Definately stay again in a heartbeat Only down side is one track road upto it which is OK if your a confident driver, but if you are not it's a bit daunting.
Bianca
We had a wonderful stay at Ash Bank. Claire couldnt have been lovelier or more accommodating. On arrival we discovered a complimentary bottle of Prosecco, popcorn, marshmallowshot chocolate and even magnums such lovely, generous touches and started our stay off on a great note. The sofa was exceptionally comfortable and easily fits four adults probably more! Everything was immaculate and well equipped, and the beds were comfortable. The views from the property are stunning and there are so many beautiful nearby areas to explore. Our only request would have been for hot tub towels to be provided in addition to the normal towels, but just a small thing Other than that, we couldnt have asked for more! Thank you for a fabulous stay.
Raymond
Very well appointed apartment with all the facilities required for a stay in Yorkshire. The kitchenliving area is very spacious, and the bedrooms comfortable. The kitchen equipment is comprehensive. There is a sitting area outside the barn but not a proper garden. Claire, the hostess was very helpful, and even posted to us some clothes which we left behind. All in all, a memorable experience !
The property was very comfortable and the location was idyllic. We enjoyed viewing all the wildlife including the local barn owls in the nesting boxes and the deer that were regularly nearby the property. We were in an excellent central position to visit the main attractions in the area including Skipton, Ilkley and Harewood House, to name just a few. Overall the property was clean and well appointed, including the seating area and hot tub. Very relaxing and would highly recommend.
Fantastic stay, incredibly helpful hosts, will definitely book again
Location fantastic, hot tub great went in every night property was lovely owner very friendly warm welcome
Lawson
Fabulous property, in a great location, Claire and Steve were perfect hosts.
Maureen
What a very peaceful place to stay, it's so quiet. The pictures don't do justice to the size of the property. The views are ever changing due to the weather, you just can't help looking out. My, if you like birds and wildlife then you are in for a treat. Long Tailed Tits, Great Tits and Blue Tits. Robins, Goldfinches and the usual Wood Pigeons and Magpie. We were graced with one fleeting visit by a Bullfinch, what a treat you don't see many now. We had a Great Spotted Woodpecker a few times and a daily visit by a Pheasant. A few times we saw Roe deer crossing the track but on the last day we were up earlier and we saw one grazing the new shoots on the trees just beyond the parking and at the same time the Barn Owl was jumping about on the branches, we had seen him a couple of times before such a treat to watch him land on the box or jump up out of his box. Finally a Hare came past as well. What a treat to see all of these birds and animals just from sitting at the table. Thank you for the treats, we didn't meet Steve but we did see him drive past.
Fantastic location for a short break with friends. Thank you, Claire for welcoming us. I have no hesitation in recommending Ash Bank.
The owner was lovely and very welcoming. We loved the fact she just left us to get on with our stay as they're some hosts that are always making themselves known they are there. The place itself was beautiful and warm and cosy and it really did feel like home away from home. The hot tub was amazing we used it both night we was there and after our travel to there and the stressful Saturday morning we had, having to replace 2 tyres on the car, it was just what we needed to unwind and destress. We 100 recommend this place and will most certainly be booking again for some time in near future.
We enjoyed Christmas at Jacobs Wood for the second time. Thanks to Claire & Steve great hosts.
Elaine
We had the perfect getaway from it all staying in Ash Bank. The accommodation was beautiful, clean and well equipped in rural surroundings but not too far to venture out in the car to the nearby villages. The hot tub was easy to use, my only recommendation would be to have robes for getting out. We hope to return at some point. Thank you Claire & Steve.
Stuart
From a very friendly and welcoming greeting from the owners to the very end of our short stay, we had a great time. The property is lovely, clean and spacious. We made use of the log burner and it heated the rooms in no time at all. We can totally recommend this property.
Natalie
Me and my friends stayed here for a short weekend break. The place is absolutely beautiful and the hosts are lovely too! Perfect place to escape reality and enjoy some well needed relaxation. Very easy to find and a great location to explore the local attractions walking routes. I would highly recommend.
Andrew
Very welcoming and comfortable.
Amazing place to stay, so quiet and relaxing. Claire was great and even brought a BBQ round for us on one of the nights! Would 110 recommend.
Devante
Claire and Pauls place was exactly what we were looking for plus more! Before booking we fell in love with what the place looked like but to our surprise it was even better in person. It was spacious with its high ceiling but it still managed to retain its cosy feel. Everything about it was perfect, from the underfloor heating which provided an ambient heat to the moveable corner on the corner sofa and pillows which allowed us to set up our own corner in front of the smart TV. The wood fire hot tub was one of our highlights as we indulged in it under the clear night sky. As 2 Londoners who had never worked a fireplace in our lives it was super easy to use once we got the hang of it. Likewise the indoor fireplace was equally as charming which we used at night when the temperature dropped. Their grounds are also quite impressive. We got quite lucky with the weather so went on a walk around the place and saw their waterfalls and from the open plan lounge areakitchen you could see pheasants in the bushes just outside as well as deer and we could even hear their barn owl. Once it got dark we could hide ourselves away in private with the sliding barn door. That along with the remote control blinds meant we were completely shut off from the outside world. The batteries in the remote for the blinds were on its last legs but once you gave it a few rubs in worked briefly. On the note of privacy there is an identical set up next door on the other side but you dont even realise theyre there which was great. The place seems to be at least somewhat soundproofed and we even tested it out by playing music through the speakers which you couldnt hear from outside once the door was closed. We booked this stay for my girlfriends birthday so we could disconnect in nature and just be alone together. We loved it so much that well be booking it again for my birthday longer this time once we figure out our annual leave. 1010 hosts who explained everything to us and remained invisible in a good way whilst being just a WhatsApp away if we needed anything. The guestbook instructions were quite clear though so we didnt need them which allowed us to have our phones off the whole time. They even left us some vegan snacks and a list of restaurants with vegan options in case we wanted to eat out when I mentioned we were both vegan!
Fantastic location for peace and quiet, excellent standard of cleanliness and facilities. Lovely hosts and would definitely book again.
Beautiful cottage. In a stunning wood .Claire was amazing looking after us can't thank her enough. Every care had been taken to make sure everyone had a wonderful experience. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
Tracey
We had a fabulous week at Ash Bank. Claire and Steve had thought of everything we could have needed and provided so many extras, more than any other cottage we have stayed in. From the Prosecco, ice creams, tea, coffee, hot chocolate and marshmallows, crisps, tea, coffee, sugar and toiletries to name a few. The property was spacious and comfortable, the beds were so comfortable to sleep in. Claire greeted us and showed us how to heat the hot tub which we used a couple of times during our stay. Their surrounding land is beautiful and we eventually found their waterfall which was beautiful. We saw owls, pheasants, squirrels and deer as well as the resident sheep. We found it to be a good base to visit places, we called into Silsden, Harrogate, Knaresborough, we drove to Settle and got the train to Carlisle as well as spending time at the property. The only small negatives were getting used to the narrow roads and steep hills, being from south Lincolnshire we are not used to driving up such steep inclines. Thanks again Claire and Steve we highly recommend Ash Bank.
This holiday was the perfect balance of tranquility and comfort , with the luxury of having a wide option of days out at the door step if wanted. The facilities were well thought through, and it made for a very relaxing break away. The wood fire hot tub was perfect giving the option of heating it for the colder evenings or having it as a plunge pool for the hotter days was really easy to use ! The property owners we very welcoming , gave great advice on the local area and were just a text away if needed which wasnt often as the property is perfectly set up. Would 100 recommend this property and will definitely return in the future ! Thank you for a wonderful stay
Excellent presentation. Some nice touches from the Prosecco to the ice creams and biscuits. We thoroughly enjoyed the accommodation, especially the wood fired hot tub.
Phoebe
Such a lovely holiday cottage, with beautiful views. A great spot to rent, not too far out from Silsden villagenearby pubs 10 min drive and an hour from Leeds Good provisions with a bottle of Prosecco in the fridge for when we arrived and some crisps etc Thank you for a lovely stay Claire!
My wife and I were looking for a lastminute holiday at a property that had a hot tub. We found Ash Bank on Google and were a bit dubious of Sykes Cottages as we both never heard of the website before and weren't sure if the reviews under the cottage were legitimate. Booking.com and other more wellknown holiday booking websites also had the listing, but the reviews were slim to none. We took a gamble and booked the cottage and we're glad to say, we had an incredible time! The cottage was clean, modern, and located in a beautiful, serene location. We were arriving via train as we both don't currently possess a car as we live near Leeds city centre and can walk to most locations. Claire, the host, offered to pick us up from the nearby train station which was greatly appreciated! She showed us around the property and informed us on how to use the woodfired hot tub. Prosecco was also given to us for free which was greatly appreciated. She also had a folder filled with information and activities of the surrounding area and recommendations for places to eat in nearby Silsden. For those looking to relax surrounded by peaceful nature and those that might want to have a scenic hike in the Ilkley Moor will have an amazing time!
We had the best stay at Ash Bank. The hosts are very friendly and welcoming with amazing attention to detail. The location is beautiful with stunning views over the countryside. Accommodation was perfect, impeccably clean with fantastic facilities it really gave the wow factor. The accommodation is set on beautiful land with stunning walks literally on your doorstep. The wood fired hot tub was a luxurious perk which we made the most of. Thank you for the best weekend!
We had a lovely stay. The property was immaculate. Beautiful views and lovely hot tub. The owner was very welcome and informative. Would highly recommend.
This was our third stay at Jacobs Wood and we booked the 4th while there. The accommodation is perfect for our needs, perfectly clean, well equipped and with stunning views. We had snow this year, and Claire and Steve had done an amazing job clearing the track, drive and hot tub area. Great as always!
Luxurious living, Facilities great
WOW! What a place! The best holiday cottage weve ever stayed in. Absolutely perfect and spotlessly clean. Theyve literally thought about everything. The owners are so friendly and helpful, but in an invisible way, so you know theyre there if you need them but it feels very private. We cant wait to visit again!
I was apprehensive at first, as I booked the holiday last minute for me and my other half as a birthday present. Couldnt have been more pleased from start to finish. The owners were absolutely lovely, facilities are clean, easy to use, and everything just perfect. Will be staying again! 5 STAR! for sure for sure!
Melissa
Such an amazing week away! ! Claire was so friendly and helpful throughout our stay. We both absolutely loved Ash Bank and will definitely return one day. The whole barn was spotless and had everything you needed for the week. Really enjoyed the hot tub and the seeing the views of Silsden. I would highly recommend visit and so much to do around the area.

We have just stayed at Ash Bank for a week and had a lovely relaxing week away. The lodge is furnished lovely and has everything you need, perfectly heated and the hot tub was lovely to use. Great views from the lodge and perfect place to be based to also get around the area. Owner was lovely and welcoming and also gave us some good recommendations of places to visit. She was very friendly and lovely to chat too. Thank you for a very enjoyable week and would highly recommend staying at Ash Bank Lodge.
The accommodation was lovely,it was very clean and comfortable. Claire was there to greet us she is so nice and so helpful explaining the hot tub and recommending places to visit.the beds were extremely comfortable.we would go there again anytime.
This was our second time visiting jacobs wood. Thanks to Claire and Steve for another pleasant and lovely stay in their beautiful cottage.
Joanne
Warm welcome by Claire who kindly showed us how the hot tub worked and told us about the local area and the property. She was on hand if we needed anything. The grey folder provided within the property was informative on how to use appliances, local walks and recommendations of pubs in the surrounding villages. The property itself was amazing, large, comfortable bedrooms, kitchen living room open plan and bright, it felt like a home from home. Being able to watch the wildlife from the living room every morning was an absolute pleasure. Ash Bank had everything and was a great base for getting out to explore some of the tourist attractions and the hot tub a welcome relax after being on your feet all day. Would highly recommend and would definitely return.
We had an absolutely amazing time in this beautiful cottage. The owner was kind and friendly and explained everything we needed to know. We thoroughly enjoyed watching the local wildlife from the comfort of the hot tub including barn owls, bats and hares.
Alistair
