Fersit Log Cottage Reviews

Jackie
Good sized accommodation. Nice hot tub with dark sky views off the stars in a clear evening.the dog enjoyed the large garden that was nice and safe.only down side being winter ideal to get back before dark as there is a two mile single track road with the last bit un tarmacked.realy enjoyed the views
Beautiful property just a few niggly bits like bathroom radiator couldn't figure out how to turn it on as no obvious switch anywhere. Not all the outside lights working especially the one at the rear overlooking the hottub and some interior bulbs blown or just not working. Would also suggest maybe some blinds for the kitchen windows. Overall though it had everything we needed for our stay and was very comfortable and would book the property again.

Had a nice relaxing week in a lovely cottage Well equipped and lovely views
Great for walking on all levels, and for mushroom hunting in the autumn. Comfy beds. The fridge freezer is past it's best, very noisy and too cold, froze a lot of the stuff we just wanted to be cool. The caretakers were responsive and helped promptly with some minor hitches.

We really enjoyed our stay at Fersit a lovely cottage in a wonderfully quiet and secluded location. We particularly enjoyed the hot tub, despite the best effort of the local midges! We were late departing due to an injury, and the owners were very kind and understanding about the confusion and delay on departure.
The location of Fersit Log cottage is incredible. We have turned this into an annual trip for our wedding anniversary every March but also reattended in July of this year as we just love the highlands. There is so much to do and see but also the relaxing part of it too. It suits us perfectly and Harry our jack Russell just loves it here! See you in March 2025. We have tried to rebook but the calendar isn't available yet!

The lodge is 10 minutes from the A road. The road is single track through stunning scenery with passing places. The lodge is secluded in beautiful surroundings with wildlife in abundance. We especially loved the pair of woodpeckers who visited us daily. The lodge is well equipped with everything you need and the hotub was a bonus after a day walking the hills. It was literally a little slice of peace and quiet and so good to recharge. No big negatives other than the bathroom could do with brighter lighting and we couldn't get radiator to work so a bit chilli, but nothing major. We were also a little surprised lying in bed to find a chap mowing the lawn would have been nice to be told so o surprises when we opened the curtains! We loved our stay and the deer who also visited us at the lodge thank you. An amazing place.
Michelle
We really enjoyed our stay! Very comfortable beds Good kitchen facilities Lovely view and the hot tub was a special treat! Location amazing
Joshua
Amazing cabin in the loveliest area! Such a delightful stay and we will be sure to return at some point.
We returned after coming last Jan and falling in love with this place, but unfortunately as previous reviews state, there has been a decline in standards and I would not book again until reviews reflect improvement. The lodge is lovely, very remote and being sat in the hot tub at night looking at the stars is perfect. Adore this stunning area, the locals, all the wildlife. However, the hot tub light is broken so youre sat in pitch black, the patio doors are broken and cant be used, second bedroom light is broken commented on in reviews in December the bedside drawers in same room are broken, main bedroom curtain pole falls off when you open curtains, large area of mould on bathroom ceiling, washing machine broken, bed covers old without buttons, freezer unclean with melted lolly in the bottom. Most annoyingly, a workman lovely man turned up without us being told, to do something to the water while I was part way through cooking, then we had a text message to say another unrelated workman would be coming the day after, which left us annoyed when were on holiday.
Had another lovely stay, the location is just lovely and we will more than likely return because we love it so much. The property is really lovely but i did notice a decline in the general cleanliness and maintenance since last time which was a shame and i hope it doesn't continue to go downhill. the Jets in the bath weren't working but we weren't too concerned as the shower worked and we had the hot tub to chill in when it wasn't raining an optional cover of sorts would be a brilliant addition to allow all weather use of the hot tub the washing machine wasn't working either but i guess these things happen. Bulbs out in the spare room and outside area, filthy windows, cobwebs etc. Don't get me wrong, nothing that spoiled the break but worth mentioning to get things back up to par for the next guests. The road down to the lodge proved to be tricky again even though we were in a higher up vehicle this time. Really needs a bit of attention not everyone has 4x4s!! On a positive note, it really is a special location, miles and miles of stunning walks and trails, wildlife galore, peace and quiet.

A lovely cottage for a break away with the dogs. They loved the garden, which was fenced in. We had a great week, and despite previous reviews complaining about how remote it was, Spean Bridge was a 1015 minute drive away and Fort William not much further up the road. As the Highlands of Scotland go, that's not too remote. Fersit cottage is set in an idyllic location on a private road, so it was ideal for us, as we were there to escape the fireworks for the dog. The only negative is, if the hot tub had some kind of gazebo or shelter over it, it would have been used more often. As it is, it's just in the middle of the garden with no shelter. All in all though, a great cottage, well equipped to relax and unwind.
Outstanding location where all you can here is the breeze in the trees and the waterfalls on the mountain. Its a 10 minute drive from the main road with some gravel roads. I think a 4x4 would be needed in the winter. We bought the OS app before we arrived which meant we found beautiful walks direct from the door. Walking to the local loch was such a marvellous experience seeing something so vast yet not meeting another person. My children loved walking up the mountain tracks watching the sunset then paddling in freezing cold streams. The lodge itself is a delight. It was well equipped which meant we could make lovely meals from scratch. The fire is huge so take plenty of logs. The water has a slight yellow tinge from the peat but entirely expected in the highlands and it is well filtered. The hot tub was fun although I personally wish it could have been a bit hotter. There werent any instructions mentioning this at all. All in all it is a perfect location for those wanting to escape from the daily grind and traffic noise. I would go back in a heart beat!
The reasons for the negative feedback was unfortunately we never got to the cabin which was no fault of the company, however trying to contact Sykes holiday homes proved impossible , so trying to renegotiate a different date never happened, resulting in loosing our money and break.
Michael
Where to start! Before the holiday l phoned Sykes no less than 4 times to see if a high chair and travel cot were available for a foster child we were not originally taking with us. Finally 10 days before we were due to leave Sykes informed us that neither were. We therefore purchased one only to find on on our arrival that there were 2 travel cots in the main bedroom wardrobe. We were aware that the log cabin was 3 miles along a single track road what we were not aware of was the last half mile was rubble, great for the shock absorbers!!. The hot tub was never used due to midges which took over particularly the 1st week. The Jacuzzi looked the part but was totally off putting by the peat coloured water and the warning in the welcome pack about legionnaires disease. Add to this the dish washer where a dryer would be more useful due to rain almost every day. The toilet flushed but you had to wait 10 minutes for it to refill. Then we come to the lights there were spare bulbs but not the right ones. No bulb to main light in 2nd bedroom, 1 bulb out in the poorest lit bathroom ever, no lights working in the hallway no window Underlight in kitchen not working The garden light didn't work. Curtains that were not enough with inadequate lining, it was daylight at 5.30 in the morning!. The table in the kitchen was wobbling and we had to tighten nuts so it didn't collapse. The vacuum cleaner was beyond useless which then brings us to cleaning, don't look under the lounge seating !!! Windows are they ever cleaned and the frames when a window was opened at the end of the holiday never have been. We had the instructions in the welcome pack to take all rubbish to the bins down the 12 mile track as the council refuse to use the road !! ?. Some crockery was chipped and didn't match ! On the Monday of the second week we were awoken by a truck and trailer going past our bedroom window followed an hour and half of mower and Strummer. On the Thursday owner informed us Electrician appointment for a PAT test. Seems the basics are overshadowed. Have to say when everything was put together it combined for the least enjoyable holiday in years !!!.
We had a lovely week at Fersit Log Cottage. The cottage was nice and clean and had all the necessary facilities for a comfortable stay. Lovely walks from the door and a big garden for the dog. Only very minor point was that the dog realised he could squeeze through the gaps in the gate and the sections of wooden fencing either side. He's a Skye Terrier, so not tiny, bigger than a Westie. It just meant we had to keep an extra eye on him. Aside from that, a great cottage in a fantastic area. Very quiet as you're 2.5 miles down a single track no through road. Thoughtful welcome gifts of fizz and miniature ginwhisky. Would visit again.
Claire
Had a lovely stay at Fersit Log Cottage. The cottage was equipped with everything that we needed and was comfortable. The hot tub was a dream after long walks with the dogs but unfortunately we missed out on using it for a couple of nights because of the midges. I would recommend this accomodation if you want to spend time off the beaten track.
Michael
Ideal for those who like peace and quiet. Many walks close by and places to explore not too far away . Just one problem, the front door would not lock! Our dog was in his element, a garden to explore and a lichen about 15 minutes walk away . Good restaurants in Speanbridge at the station and at Toy Bridge.
Jacqueline
Our stay at Fersit cottage was lovely. Love the location. So quiet and perfect for accessing the Munros. Had a few issues but the manager Frank addressed them straight away. His number was available and he was friendly and helpful. We were comfortable, had walks some straight from the cottage, soak in the hot tub and read our books ..,total bliss . Was glad I had made a menu for the week and bought every thing with us. Food, drink, anything you would need as shops so far away . Def would stay again
Trevor
Fantastic get away from it all property, in the heart of a stunning part of the world. Generally great standard of equipment and comfort, but disappointed by cold bathroom timed towel rail just didn't cut it and poor quality of towels.
Suzanne
Excellent place to stay, we didn't have to worry about our dog as garden fully secure. Hot tub was fantastic great walks from the property. Lovely and peaceful. Definitely will come back and highly recommend.
A little piece of heaven! Just had one of the most amazing weeks away ever! The location is spectacular and tucked away from everything. Barely saw another person the whole week, just nature and walks galore! Peace peace and more peace! The hot tub was a treat when we returned from our walks and to relax in at night under the stars. Lodge was well equipped and very comfortable. We will most definitely be back. Just a little note to any looking to book, make sure you have plenty of provisions as it is quite out of the way and the road is pretty rough with it being so out of the way well worth it though!!
Trevor
Property was as described, beautiful location ,very comfortable and would recommend . Fantastic and safe garden for the dog and the hot tub was great, truly enjoyable holiday.
Joanne
Lovely area and good walks on your doorstep. Cleanliness of the lodge wasnt up to par, cobwebs etc, we had 2 huskies and the hoover started off working and was as good as useless! Then it stopped working altogether lol. Not ideal for a week with 2 hairy dogs. The toaster needs replacing, the water filtration system started beeping, tried to contact property management and no response, so my husband managed to silence it after Google search. Also the quilt and pillows are way past their best. Some mould in bathroom corner too. Could be a great place if maintained properly, we payed out of season prices as live close by, but I wouldnt say its worth the cost of peak season until these issues are resolved.
Nicholas
Fantastic place, loved every day there, has everything you need. Can be a little tricky to get in and out of with a road car in winter conditions but that just added to the magic of the place, just plan for that and you'll love it, am definitely booking again!
This log cabin is perfect, I didnt want to leave. Clean and comfortable inside, and has all the equipment we needed. It was warm and cosy, especially with the log burner on. The hot tub topped it off. The location is secluded and peaceful, and the garden is very large and completely enclosed for dogs. I will be booking again for next year as this log cabin is exactly what Ive been looking for. Please can the can opener and toaster be replaced.
Elaine
Fersit Log Cottage was amazing, our 2 boys and 2 German shepherds loved the private garden. The location was superb with a lovely woodland walk right on the doorstep. We did not come away for the property at all as the surrounding area had everything plus we had snow on Boxing Day which lasted a few days so we had fun then. The only things I would recommend to the owners would be better lighting in the bathroom and exterior lighting also to change the vacuum. We had the best holiday ever and will definitely return. Thank you x
Great spot, good for dogs. Tiny shower though ! Great outdoor spa. Overall all good. Needs fluffier towels!
Graham
Lovely cabin. Very comfortable and clean. Hot tub is a great addition. Used in the beginning of winter as a base for travelling around the area. Will hopefully be back to do some walking in the summer. Well off the main road but it works better for it. Would definitely recommend. And the pet friendly aspect works really well.
Alexandra
I love this cottage. It is my second time being there and I have to say the addition of the hot tub was a complete surprise. Hubby was delighted with the WiFi signal this time round. It is warm, cosy, comfortable and I wish I could stay there forever.
Nicola
Fantastic holiday, even better than expected. Cabin in beautiful secluded area with amazing walks on your doorstep. Property just as described and all well maintained. Added bonus of newly fitted hot tub, which was good fun to relax in with a glass of fizz at the end of the day. The garden was completely enclosed so our spaniel had the free roam of the garden, she absolutely loved the holiday and was a bit miffed to return home!! Would definitely book again as loved the isolated location, perfect for people who want to relax and unwind in a beautiful area.
Very cozy warm lodge set in a stunning location . The lodge has everything you need for a comfortable 2 week stay .plenty of wildlife on doorstep and local area.Great location for those that want to get those walking boots on.Met Luke one of the owners, a very friendly and polite young man.
Archibald
Unfortunately the dishwasher wasnt working it looked like a button used to set program was missing. As there were only 2 of us this was not a problem
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Fersit Log Cottage. The views from the cottage are beautiful and the garden is enclosed so dogs can have a run around. I was looking for a weekend away in the wilds a place where you could just open the gate and start your adventure, so the cottage was perfect. The surrounding moors, hills, loch and mountains are stunning and there is so much to explore on the doorstep. Fersit Log Cottage makes you feel at home instantly it's comfortable, cosy, roomy and there's decking, so you can also sit outside. We loved it here and we're already thinking about a return trip. Thank you so much for our goodies on arrival that was a lovely touch.
Brilliant location for hill walking with 4 Munros and a Graham accessible from the cottage itself, others just a short drive away. The cottage is very private and secluded and has a great view to nearby hills. It was lovely and quiet and peaceful. The accommodation is surprisingly spacious with plenty of room to dry out wet gear in the porch. It was also well heated and there was no need to use the woodburning stove. It was a the perfect refuge after enduring a tough day on the hills. The wifi was excellent and television worked well. The owners kindly left some aperitifs which were very welcome!
