Skiber Reviews

This is a superb holiday cottage. We had a warm welcome & hosts were extremely helpful whilst not being intrusive. Everything was spotlessly clean & finished to a really high standard. We used as a base for walking the south west coast path so to return to the hot tub after a days hiking was heaven. Garden is very private thanks to the screening between cottages. Would highly recommend.
Brilliant stay in this tranquil Cornish retreat.
We had a wonderful stay in this beautifully refurbished barn in the heart of the Cornish countryside. The accommodation is very clean and the hosts are exceptionally helpful. It was fabulous to see the newly born lambs in the field behind the accommodation. The kitchen is extremely well equipped. Many a night was spent in the hot tub listening to nature. The close proximity to sandy beaches was the icing on the cake. A brilliant stay, would thoroughly recommend.
Lovely little place
This is a gorgeous little cottage, very homely, had everything you could think of,lovely garden with hot tub, that was used alot, another bigger area so you can play ball games etc. Lovely walks around the cottage and location was lovely,in the middle of nowhere but not too far for things to do during the day. Sarah and Mike who own it were so lovely, didn't really see them, they leave you to enjoy your holiday but nothing is too much trouble if you need any help. Would love to go back again.
Amazing escape in a friendly welcoming environment
Just a perfect getaway for the family. Great location, excellent local beaches and a very warm welcome in this newly refurbished cottage.
Jennifer
We stayed at Skiber with 2 older teens and a large dog and it was spacious, wellequipped and comfortable. Mike was really hospitable and helpful. I've never seen such an amazing welcome pack! The shared field at the back of the two rental properties is huge, enclosed and perfect for everyone to run off some energy. Plenty of parking too and in a great location.
Mike made us very welcome from the moment we arrived. He showed us around the property and explained the location of the property and local walks. The adjacent field was very useful for our energetic dog and the hot tub at the end of the day after a fabulous walk was wonderful. The location was private, quiet and peaceful, in short, this cottage is beautifully appointed, spacious, comfortable and an absolute gem, we will definitely return next year.
Katrina
This is the most gorgeous cottage, we were so pleased with our choice and really felt we'd had a good break
Richard
We had a lovely welcome from Mike on arrival to Skiber. The cottage was lovely and very comfortable and after a week spent at Skiber we felt very chilled. During our stay we met the gardener who went out of his way to introduce us to the Alpacas and Sheep. Big thankyou to all at Messack.
We had an amazing stay! The cottage was wonderful, modern equipment, very clean and had everything we needed. The outside area with hot tub was so relaxing. Thank you to Mike and Sarah who were wonderful hosts and really appreciate the thoughtful welcome hamper!
A beautiful cottage in a perfect location for exploring the Gorgeous Roseland Peninsula. The owners were really friendly and helpful. Highly recommend.
It was a lovely property, very comfortable and clean. Brilliant location in a very lovely part of Cornwall. Mike the owner was extremely helpful and provided an excellent welcome pack including cakes, scones, clotted cream etc. Mike called a few days before we were due to arrive and asked if there was anything we needed which was great. Lovely walks straight from the doorstep. The large enclosed field at the rear of the property was great for our new puppy to romp in. St. Mawes a few miles away was very pleasant and relaxing. Would highly recommend staying at Skiber!!!!
Absolutely stunning property in a beautiful location perfect for peace and quiet. The most fantastic kind and thoughtful owners hosts. The perfect place for our summer holiday!
Lindsay
Wow, we loved every minute of a relaxing break in this gorgeous cottage. The weather blessed us with glorious sunshine which only highlighted the beautiful surroundings. Picturesque walks in every direction with sights and scenery galore, or a short car journey to some amazing beaches and delightful villages. The cottage itself is even better than the pictures with every detail thought of, the dog just loved the additional field beyond the garden that was an added bonus. Thank you Mike and Sarah for a memorable holiday
This was our second visit to Skiber and it was just as wonderful two years later. Such a superbly peaceful location and just a short car ride to the fab beaches on the Roseland and the lovely St Mawes. The house is kept to a high standard and the owners are perfect! We will be back again.
Skiber was definately a five star plus. The converted barn was beautifully decorated, immaculately clean, very well equiped with everday needs. On arrival we met the owner Mike who was very welcoming and full of information about the area. The welcome hamper was absolutely out of this world, with flap jacks, scones, buns, clotted cream, jam and a pint of milk. Not to mention dog treats! Our kids 13 & 11 were thrilled with the huge playing field over the garden gate, which had swings, climbing frame and table tennis. Not to mention the huge hot tub on our decking area! The location was perfect and was in the most beautiful setting, as it was away from any hussle and bussle, but you could easily get to places in the car. The King Harry Ferry was just down the road which was ideal for nipping across the river or there were lots of boats from St Mawes to various places too. The owners have kindly loaded a 'mussel' card with credit so you don't even have to pay full prices on the boats! This place was most definately a piece of heaven for both ourselves and the kids. The Roseland penninsula is place we had never been before, but after our wonderful experience here, we will certainly visit again. Thank you Mike and Sarah for letting us stay in your beautiful house.
Just come back from a wonderful holiday in Cornwall staying at Skiber, so relaxing and friendly, fantastic house with a hot tub to enjoy at the end of a busy day! Perfect!

We had a wonderful week staying at Skiber. The property was very clean and comfortable and it was located in a stunning area. The Roseland peninsula is a little gem of of Cornwall that we had not explored before and we loved everything it had to offer. Sarah and Mike were ideal hosts and it was good to know they were nearby if we needed anything. We would definitely recommended this property to others and we will hopefully be back again in the near future. Please do not publish this next sentence We were not sure if the double bedroom with king size bed was actually a king size bed but rather a double?

Fabulous cottage. Top quality furnishings, and kitchen kitted out with everything you need, great hot tub, fantastic walks for the dog on your door step. The owners were really friendly and helpful but not intrusive. Have recommended to all our friends and would love to go back again.

We had a wonderful stay at Skyber this summer. Our booking experience was easy and we had all the information we needed. Sarah and Mike are excellent hosts, welcoming and accommodating and every little detail had been thought about in this beautiful cottage. We had a wonderful 10 days, absolutely loved the Roseland and surrounding area and local beaches, and equally loved just being in the cottage relaxing. It was great to have the jacuzzi and we made good use of it. Did some lovely local walks with great views. Would definitely recommend this place, came home feeling truly relaxed. It really is a lovely property, decorated to a high standard, with everything you could need and more. We would love to return in the future. Thank you to Sarah and Mike fir the excellent accommodation.

Mike and Sarah Lucas gave us a warm and friendly welcome to the cottage and they were available during our stay for helpful tips on the local area and suggestions to make our holiday special. Skiber has recently been refurbished to a very high standard. It is now tastefully decorated and furnished, and it is equipped with every mod con. The hot tub was a real treat. The cottage is located down a quiet lane which gives access to peaceful and beautiful walks from the front door. The view across the estuary from the extensive and well maintained gardens is stunning.
What an amazing place anyone who stays here will be more than satisfied, the long walks the sea veiws the beautiful gardens are just a small part of this beautiful barn convertion. It was so special for us that I ended up asking my partner to marry me whilst on holiday. The hot tub is perfectly situated in your own private garden at the side of the property along side some artificial grass and sun loungers and picnic bench. I hope everyone who stays embraces all there is to do in st just and st mawes and also the walks along messack point!! You won't be disappointed
Rachel
This was exactly what I needed after a really hectic time. The setting is lovely, hosts are superb with a lovely warm welcome. The cottage is immaculate with just about everything you could wish for and has been recently renovated. The hot tub is a wonderful extra, especially after a busy day exploring. It is so quiet and tranquil you can completely switch off.
