Strawberry Cottage Reviews

Stuart
A very nice, comfortable property ideally situated close to pubs, shops and transport links into and beyond Falmouth town centre. We particularly enjoyed using the hot tub which is a big bonus to this property. We would definately consider staying again at this property and would highly reccommend it to others.
We had a lovely time in Cornwall, great weather . The property is in a good central location for site seeing. Nice house well equipped with everything you'd need. Great kitchenlounge
It was a nice house and in a nice position. It was fairly well equipped although it would have been nice to have decent tin opener and fairly clean just some mess found beneath the sofa and on the worktops. Parking may be an issue for ones with large cars the car port is narrow and it is difficult to get out of your car and access the garage for the washing machine, etc with a large car in it. There is very limited onstreet parking. We had to refit the seal for the oven door and an inner door in the freezer is broken. On the whole, it was a nice place to stay and we had an enjoyable holiday.
Sharon
The property was spotless, I was very pleased because I had my grandchildren staying with me. We could not find a tin opener and our last night we could not use the hot tub, due to the small of stagnant water. Other than that we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Thank you Sharon.

Its a lovely warm cottage, very well equipped with everything you could possibly need, we especially loved the bread maker. We were slightly disappointed with the state of inside some of the kitchen cupboards and bedroom drawers when we went to unpack, however once Id cleaned them, we were happy with the rest of it. Its a short walk into the town area with a good pub being about a 5 minute walk. The owner was very helpful when we had a problem with the internet, which was due to the storm, so absolutely outside her control but she still helped and kept us updated on the situation, thank you.
The hot tub was not maintained after usage. We had to only use it once.kitchen pots were left dirty.
Besides the miss communication on my behalf regarding a clean for the second week. There was only a couple of discrepancies one the radiostereo in one room did not work and the Internet kept phasing in and out possibly due to high demand. The other was parking outside the front as there was a local lad who kept parking his car in the front doorway which in turn had an effect on other neighbours whom were in a predicament due to my car having to be in there way .

We travelled to this special hot tub property because it was myself and my better halves anniversary and I wanted to surprise her from the off. We arrived there on the Saturday and the facilities were great and we were happy. The hot tub though wasnt working for a number of days and although the owner was very responsive, there wasnt any empathy in her textscorrespondence considering that this feature was an intended anniversary present mentioned in my initial text to her The owner did offer to pass me over to Sykes though for them to perhaps schedule another property that had an hot tub. After speaking to Chloe at Sykes, who went above and beyond in her communication with me, I decided to stick it out and stay put. I didnt receive a good will payment from the owner which wouldve been nice but Chloe at Sykes has since refunded the booking fee I had paid to Sykes to the tune of around 50 which was a pleasant surprise and I will definitely be booking my next getaway with them. Thank you Chloe
A lovely property. Decorated to a high standard and spotlessly clean. A good private location for exploring the surrounding areas. We had a lovely stay. Thank you.
We had a great stay at this property. We had 2 adults and 2 children 7 and 9 staying and there was plenty of room. The residential street was very quiet. Yes the parking space is tiny but it's not a problem. Just either park outside the door or get people to jump out before you park. The living room has comfy sofas and it is a very warm house we had to turn the heating down in December. I saw a review that said the house had a lot of dust...that wasn't a problem on my stay. It was really clean. The location is a 10 min drive from central Falmouth. It is less than 10 mins to walk to the train station which takes you to Falmouth or Truro. All in all, a lovely stay in a very comfy house.
Kenneth
A very pleasant, comfortable stay at Strawberry Cottage. Like other reviewers though we did find the parking tight!! Whilst not using the hot tub or garden at this time of year we would think that having access only through one of the bedrooms might be a problem depending on the make up of the party if 6 people were staying. We were all from the same family but perhaps this should be explained in the property details? Similarly the lack of a proper shower in the main bathroom could prove a problem if a mixed party all needing to use the downstairs bedroom shower. Observations rather than criticisms we enjoyed our stay.
Rebecca
The lounge, kitchen and living area are well furnished and comfortable. The kitchen is well equipped which was useful and the outdoor hot tub is a great addition which we used every day after being out exploring. A couple of negatives The beds, unfortunately, were not comfortable and the mattresses on all 3 double beds are in need of replacement. Both bathrooms smelt musty and have some mould & flaking paint and need some attention. In our opinion, the house needs a deep clean dust on skirting boards and substantial amount of dust behind the furniture & beds. We did have a good holiday and were able to overlook these issues although we had disturbed sleep due to the poor comfort of the beds. The parking bay is tight and whilst we were able to park our 4x4, only the driver can access the car door when parked and only if you are slim! Fortunately we only had one car but if 23 couples stayed and had separate cars then you would struggle for parking in the road . In the week we stayed there were not any alternative spare spaces. Overall its a nice place but would definitely suggest these things are addressed to ensure future guests have a more comfortable stay.
Overall a really good holiday let. Some items in the kitchen were a bit dusty on arrival but a quick rinse sorted that issue out, and some natural over time marks in the bath and around the house. Bedrooms were clean and well presented on arrival and pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness of the hot tub. Previous guests had left some food in the cupboards which we would of preferred not to have to deal with. There is a warning on arrival to not use the hot tub after 10pm due to being in a residential area. You are close to the college and university campus so there are a lot of students around and the local pub stays open till 11pm. There are a lot of things provided to do in the house, games, DVDs, magazines etc. We would stay again.
Parking is an issue, there is only space for a small car in the car port leading into the garage! Next door has two cars and a van, so it meant I could not fully park right outside, encroaching on the neighbors on the other side!!
Jacqui
Superb property of a very high quality. We loved everything about Strawberry Cottage it was so homely and we were very sorry when our stay there came to an end. Would highly recommend this property.
Jeannie
Had a fabulous stay. Everything we needed.
Everything catered for .
Angela
Strawberry Cottage was as expected. Clean and comfortable. There was plenty of space for all six of us. The kitchen had all we required and more. The beds were very comfortable. The hot tub was lovely all though the filter needed looking at. Over all we had a very pleasant stay. The only thing we all agreed on was the access to and from the garden, through the bedroom. It was a bit cramped but we all managed ok.
Hilary
The property was very clean, comfortable and welcoming. The kitchen was very well equipped. I would book this property again.
Nicola
Overall the cottage was nice however, unless your car is no larger than vw golf there is no off street parking this is the same for all the neighbours so the road is heavily congested with cars if you put you car on the drive you wouldnt get out of your car unless you have a sunroof so I feel its wrong not to make this clear. The ensuite had black mould on the walls an ceiling and the extractor fan was so full of dust it couldnt have been cleaned for a year. There is ample wall space for full length mirrors in the bedrooms but there are none just a tiny little mirror sat on the bedside tables. I also feel that all rooms should have a working tv not just a DVD player as this was not made clear and we had no dvds with us. Aside from that it was nice but certainly not luxurious but I guess it depends on what youre used to.
Drive very narrow and parking very tight in the road. Therefore if you have 2 cars could be stressful. Cottage furnished very comfortably with all home comforts. Notes suggest not using the hot tub after 10.00pm as is in a residential area which can limit your use on a holiday. Nicely situated to explore the area.
Lovely well kept property, very homely and with lots of extras provided.
Melanie
The cottage had everything we needed and was lovely and clean. The only thing to take into consideration is the size of your vehicle as we have a large 4 wheel drive the driveporch and the street to the cottage was very tight.
The house was very comfortable and well equipped especially the kitchen. The hot tub was lovely, the little courtyard garden was nice. There is a nice food pub just up the road and Penryn is well served with pubs and takeaways. The only downside of the house was that although the living room had SKY tv, only a few channels were available and the tv in the main bedroom had terrible reception.
The beds are not kingsize as stated in the summary. The downstairs bedroom was very musty. I chose to keep most of my clothes in my suitcase as putting them in the chest of drawers would have made them smell. The sky dish is so old & rusty I have photos it's no wonder we could only watch certain channels and the picture was constantly breaking up. Also the toilet brushes in the bathroom & en suite were rusty and dirty again I have photos Overall the cottage was a good base and very well equipped and we enjoyed our holiday but in the current covid climate I feel the cleanliness could have been better.
Strawberry Cottage is in Penryn near Falmouth. We were a family of 6 3 generations. The cottage was just perfect, it was exactly as stated on Sykes' website. The owner had provided everything you could think of. In the garage there were sun chairs, wind breakers, body boards, bbq, washer, dryers and buckets and spades for guests to use. We all enjoyed using the hot tub, even my dad who's 86. The cottage was in an easy to find location and ideal for visiting places. We visited Falmouth town, Gylly beach and Perranporth. Dollys tearoom has some delicious honey and rose scones. We had an evening meal and a family breakfast at the Windjammer restaurant near Trago mill. Also the Carnon Downs Premier Inn has a lovely Beefeater restaurant. The Flicka Donkey Foundation near Penryn is a donkeyrescue sanctuary. It is free to visit, but you need to pre book well in advance. I would recommend Strawberry Cottage to friends and family and I will definitely book to stay there again.
Good base for Falmouth and travelling to other parts of Cornwall. The house was beautifully decorated with a homely feel. Perfect for 4 people seating wise in the kitchen & lounge, perhaps a bit small for 6. The Jacuzzi was a real bonus and made a nice way to relax after a long day out and about.
Elaine
The cottage is in a good location close to Falmouth and, although only a small village, very close to the amenities in Penryn. The facilities were very good, lots of videos, games and books. The dcor was pleasing and the kitchen was very well equipped. The main bathroom would benefit from having a proper wall fixing and curtain for the shower, as we had 6 adults using the ensuite shower! The hot tub was a lovely treat shame it was accessed through one of the bedrooms. Altogether a very relaxing, comfortable accommodation.
Joanne
Holiday home was beautiful and spacious and thoroughly loved the place. Just 2 things let it down... Firstly, my son dropped a lot of stuff on the floor and when retrieving it I found a bottle of water and a tissue under the settee, an empty vaping box, a face mask and cotton wool buds under the bedside tables.... I could understand if they couldn't be seen but settees and cabinets were a good few inches off floor so clearly visible if someone had looked. With covid at the moment I didn't appreciate having to dispose of these items. Second thing to disapoint was the tvs didn't work in either of the bedrooms. They wouldn't pick up a signal so I had 2 teenagers who were disappointed they couldn't watch TV in their room.
Charles
Lovely property all facilities were excellent. Nice touch with milk in the fridge and a packet of Cornish biscuits to welcome us on arrival. Loved our stay, would recommend and wouldnt hesitate to book again
Just fabulous
First time having a holiday in Britain for about 20 years. Would definitely recommend Strawberry Cottage as it was in a lovely location very quite. The owner Mrs Jackson has given the cottage that home from home feeling & has thought of everything down to wetsuits, body boards, sea shoes and everything else you can think of needed for the beach. The information pack she has prepared is great where the shops are, best places to eat. Had to contact her whilst we were there as there was an issue with the hot tub she got someone to come out at around 9pm in the evening much appreciated. My 15 year old daughter also realised on our way home that she had left her jacket in the wardrobe, I contacted the owner & she is going to post it back to us which I cant thank her enough for. Also arriving to milk in the fridge was most welcome after a 6 hour drive. would defiantly be looking to book again,
The house was an absolutely perfect home from home to explore Cornwall. The property was beautifully decorated and in excellent condition. So many lovely little touches like some biscuits left for us. We definitely recommend this house and will be looking at availability here first the next time we want to visit Cornwall.
Very comfortable excellent accommodation, very clean and tidy. Wasn't expecting the welcome pack, nice touch
William
Only one thing would like towel rails and shelf in the bathrooms apart from that just right
The owners had thought of everything that you would need on a holiday right down to buckets and spades. The furniture was comfortable as were the beds. The cottage was lovely and quiet in spite of being a town house. Crockery etc. was plentiful. The garden was compact and cosy and all facilities were in working order.
