The Stable House Reviews

Shirley
This was an amazing place, loved the hot tub and pool table had many hours of fun . Was greeted by Sarah and was made to feel very welcome straight away. I would highly recommend this to anyone who wants a lovely holiday. The house it self was absolutely lovely and equipped with everything you could ever need for a lovely holiday. Definitely a 10 out 10
The Stables is a lovely combination of old and new. The new kitchen area is fabulous and the old lounge is cosy with the added bonus of the poolfootball tables. The hot tub and garden are a delight, shame weather wasnt better to enjoy both more. I would worry about the deep stone steps for young children or older people though to get to and from the house but ok for us. We had a lovely time. The little extras on our arrival were an added bonus, thank you Sarah.
Many thanks for a fabulous house! Beautifully kept and very spacious. Perfect for a family Golden Wedding celebration!
The house is beautiful, and very well equipped. It was just perfect for us as a family holiday base. The beds are amazingly comfortable and everyone slept well. We loved the large safe garden and the jacuzzi. We were fortunate to have a week of lovely weather and enjoyed visits to Monkey world and Weymouth and Sherbourne. The Abbey is beautiful.
The 2 bathrooms upstairs were all at one end of the first floor and most of the bedrooms were the other end. Consequently people walking up and along on the first floor at night. Otherwise it was lovely and very comfy

We had a lovely stay. The house and garden is beautiful. Could have easily stayed for longer. Will definitely be returning
A beautiful accommodation in a beautiful setting. The Stables had gorgeous furnishing with everything that we needed. We couldn't have asked for more. Thank you.

Had a lovely experience at The Stable House
We had a fantastic stay at The Stable House. It was the perfect place to celebrate hubbys 50th Birthday. Facilities and layout are fantastic. Hot tub and pool table were well used and we had 16 people playing charades in the living room on Saturday evening. Very spacious! Lovely pubs and dog walks nearby. Easy access to big supermarkets, shops and takeaways in Yeovil only 10 minutes by car!
Everything was good thank you, very well facilitated great location, big comfortable bedrooms showers were very good. Very cosy and warm loved the log fire.
Jackie
We had a lovely stay in The Stable House which was warm and cosy for our December booking. The owner had put up a Christmas tree which was a lovely touch. The house was very well equipped for the seven of us, the beds were very comfortable and there was plenty of seating in the living room. The owner gave us a tip for a Christmassy place to visit nearby which was very useful. Would highly recommend for a family get together.
Gillian
Lovely stay a little issue with the heating in one room and flooding outside the front door and car park Will need wellies next time!
We had just the best family time together celebrating 3 milestone Birthdays. The house is so spacious, has comfortable beds, is tastefully decorated, very clean, has everything you need and great facilities in terms of oven, microwave, dishwasher, toaster, kettle, washing machine, a line to dry the clothes on and even clothes pegs . Nice personal touches with local biscuits, honey, juice and milk to welcome us, even doggie treats for the pets! We all enjoyed the pool table and table football and not a day passed where neither were not used! The garden is a real treat for humans and doggies alike. The hot tub a wonderful bonus. We are thinking of returning again one day we enjoyed it all so much and it worked well for us as a group of parents, grown up children, a grandchild and 2 dogs. The only added extra which might help future guests is some plastic glassesflutes for outside. Highly recommend The Stable House.
Lovely house we enjoyed our stay very much. Pub nearby served exquisite food. Comfortable beds, gorgeous kitchen. more teaspoons needed Ages from 77 to 14 we all enjoyrd our stay. Will do it again.
Pauline
Fabulous accommodation and excellent customer service from Sykes. Perhaps an additional saucepanserving dish would have been useful but we managed. Will definitely us Sykes again.
Joanne
We were a group of 6 adults, 1 baby and 3 dogs who all had a wonderful stay at The Stable House. It was well equipped, really spacious and very comfortable. The location is very quiet despite having the working farm behind. It has a beautiful secure garden which our dogs loved exploring, while we spent time in the hit tub. Approx an hour away from the coast, 10 mins from Yeovil and Sherborne. A lovely base to travel from or just stay and chill for a few days. Finally great communication from the owners, we felt very well cared for during our stay.
The stable house is a lovely well equipped property. Although a working farm there are no animals its grain. A few trucks come and go but really doesnt impact on the garden which is fabulous and very secure if you have dogs. The hot tub has a maintenance guy who comes a couple of times a week. We would thoroughly recommend this property for a quiet stay in the countryside.
Beautiful idyllic setting hidden away with lots of space, rooms and facilities to use. Hot tub was a huge hit, very clean and tidy, would highly recommend.
Elizabeth
Great property! Had everything we needed for our stay for our big group. The small extras of milk, juice, dog biscuits, info leaflets etc were very much appreciated. Great location, visited bath, longleat safari park, and the Jurassic coast which were all under an hour away. Fell in love with the castle grounds in Yeovil. Thanks for a great stay!!
The cottage was lovely and fully accommodated our needs the only small niggle was that it would be helpful to have a few more kitchen utensils such as small sharp knives, measuring jug, additional frying pan. It seems a bit petty as Im typing this because the facilities were great just when you are cooking for a lot of people it would have been handy to have these extra bits but we managed fine , its just a small thing we noticed.
Alexandra
We enjoyed our stay very much
Absolutely beautiful house and grounds with absolutely beautiful people that run it. The lady went out of her way and well above expectations. The house itself is a stunning comfy cosy place to be and the interior is gorgeous. Theres loads of books, board games and just about everything you could ever need for a holiday in the country. Theres so much information there as well so what ever youre looking for long walks, country pubs, nearby areas to visit the lot. Thank you for such a lovely stay we will definitely be returning.
Sarah the host was very informative about locations to visit. Very good communication from them before and during the stay. There was also plenty of handy guides in the property to assist in your holiday
Sophie
We stayed for a lovely long weekend over NYE. We were a group of three couples, and four children. Plenty of space for us all, never felt too crowded! The cottage is beautiful, very cosy and well kept. The bathrooms were newly furnished and the bedrooms were lovely. We loved the kitchen dining space, this allowed us to cook as well as entertain the children be in the same room! The hot tub was perfect, the festoon lights in the garden over the hot tub are a nice touch! Once we were done in the hot tub, we loved coming into the lounge, sitting by the log fire playing board games perfect weekend away! The welcome treats were a nice personal touch! We would strongly recommend staying at The Stable cottage! Thank you again for a wonderful stay!
Alison
We were a family of 5 adults with 2 dogs and stayed October half term for a week. The accommodation was fabulous. Beautiful inside and out. Very clean on arrival. Great facilities and well equipped with games and reading books. Hot tub was well used as well as pool table and football table. All showers and kitchen has been upgraded and were fabulous. A spacious property. Beautiful bedrooms with comfortable beds. The only improvement for me personally would be a secure garden for my dog. Although partially gated my dog could escape through the hedge being a beagle! So needed to stay on a lead. However it is beautiful, very quiet and private, and it would have been lovely to go in summer months to enjoy the garden and outdoor seating. Highly recommend.
Joanne
We stayed as a group of extended family for the weekend to celebrate a big birthday. The cottage was lovely and clean. It has recently been refurbished, so had a new kitchen and an extra ensuite shower room. The hot tub is close to the back door and in a secluded area with easy access to the downstairs shower. All the little extras are really appreciated milk, orange juice, cake, flowers, local honey and dog biscuits. Our dogs loved running round the back garden then falling asleep in front of the log fire. Everyone enjoyed using the pool table and there were plenty of squishy sofas to relax on. It really feels like a home from home. We had a slight problem finding the place. We had put the Stable House Mudford into Google maps and it took us to a pair of cottages down the road. We realised this wasn't the right place after pulling into someone else's drive. On Google maps Evans and Pearce Mudford takes you to the correct location. I would definitely recommend this cottage and will probably book again in the future.
Gareth
Excellent accommodation, beds really comfortable, all really clean. Cake, milk and orange juice supplied on arrival all very welcoming. Thank you very much.
Raelene
The Stable House is a beautiful property with a big garden and plenty of ... The Stable House is a beautiful property with a big garden and plenty of facilities, loads of space for a party of 8 plus a baby the only issue we had was the steps in the garden but it just meant we had to keep a closer eye on the little ones so didn't cause us too much of a problem, on arrival there was milk and orange juice in the fridge, fresh flowers and a delicious cake waiting for us, Rob and Sarah were amazing even coming and replacing half the water in the hot tub with cold so we could cool everyone off in the heat wave, they couldn't have been more accommodating, communication was spot on, there were loads of games and toys and the pool table made the boys very happy, I would definitely recommend this property and will certainly be back in the future
The cottage was beautiful and spacious with really comfortable furniture. Everyone commented on the size and comfort of the beds! The HOT TUB was to die for and got a lot of use. It was kept in tip top condition all week. Really nice and appreciated touches were the coffee beans and grinder, the dog biscuits and the welcome pack. The garden was large and very usable with shade provided by a large cherry tree complete with edible cherries. There was enough room for everybody to have their own space but still interact when wanted. Although there is a rather small shower cubicle downstairs, there really needs to be a large family shower in the main bathroom. This did not detract from the great time we had. Sarah the host, was so kind and thoughtful and went out of her way to be helpful. Overall a great holiday cottage that we will certainly look to use again. Thank you Sarah.
We had a lovely few days at the stable house. All the facilities and amenities were great. Little extras, cake, fresh milk juice coffee beans and dogs biscuits were left for our arrival nice little touch. The garden is all enclosed and its safe for the dogs to explore whilst enjoying the hot tub. Not a criticism but the only thing we found 3 of our group had cut our fingers and couldnt work out how on the last day we realised it was from the bathroom locks, both had a bit missing and had sharp metal. Once we realised we put some tape over the sharp edge and it wasnt a problem. We would definitely recommend and would stay here again we had a lovely time. Thank you
Thomas
The stable house is beautiful, hugely exceeded our expectations! It was exactly what was required for us, 8 adults and a dog. The only suggestion I could make is that it could possibly do with an extra shower. It didn't bother us too much but just the one proper shower downstairs might not be ideal for large groups of adults. Other than this cannot fault the property, everything is as described or even better! We did have an issue with the hot water during our stay, not the fault of the hosts. Rob and Sarah were fantastic, on site within 15 minutes of me contacting them, they fixed it shortterm and arranged an engineer to come and rectify the problem properly, all on a bank holiday weekend! This service went above and beyond what I expected, they were a delight to deal with. I can't recommend the Stable House enough.
Philip
Great location for sightseeing and walking, with a good sized well equiped garden and hot tub for spending time on site. Accommodation is nicely decorated and spacious, with open plan kitchen dinner and large family room. Our only critism is the size of the ground floor shower cubicle, which is tight, and the absence of a proper shower unit in the first floor bath room. However, we realised there was only one proper shower unit before we booked and accept the facilities had been fairly described. The hosts Rob and Sarah were easy to contact and were a delight to deal with. We had a most enjoyable stay at The Stable House.
Denise
We came to The Stable House with friends for the weekend and had a really enjoyable stay. The house is very comfortable with beautifully decorated bedrooms and lovely homely touches. The hot tub was lovely and warm when we arrived and we enjoyed using it in the evenings especially with the outside lights overhead, however both evenings it was windy and did start raining which cooled it down somewhat! The beds were extremely comfortable and the pool table in the lounge was great. My only criticisms would be that for a property that sleeps 8 there was only one small stand up shower cubicle downstairs. There is a huge bathroom upstairs and the roll top bath was beautiful, but not especially practical for that many people we did run out of hot water on a couple of occasions, especially when we all wanted to showerbathe after the hot tub. Also, due to the layout of the 4th bedroom, there was no option to be able to push the twins beds together to make a double, which would have been nice as there were 4 couples staying. Despite this, it was a lovely property and I would consider staying again.
A beautiful place to stay, lovely touches to detail with the fresh milk, orange juice biscuits and cake on arrival, also tea, coffee and sugar so no worries about packing them. Would definitely stay again, just be mindful that it's 3 double beds and 2 singles if your having to share, it wasn't a problem for us but some parties might find it. All in all we loved it
Robert
We loved it hear and would def stay again
Felicity
Had an amazing 4 night break here. The house is so much bigger then the pictures. Beds were very comfortable no complaints from any of the party. Building work didn't hinder at all. The hot tub was a massive hit all round but the kids especially loved it. We came home on storm day and were a bit worried, the owner allowed us to stay latter to wait for the worst to pass and even tried to help with alternatives for the night. We would love to come back here but will make it during warmer months to make full use of the outside facilities.
We had a wonderful weekend with our grown up kids & our grand doggies at The Stable House. It was everything we wanted & more, spacious yet homely. The small touches like cake & dog treats were very nice. It was a lovely place to relax. Some nice walks locally & The Rose & Crown was a great country pub to walk to. We all had an amazing time & would highly recommend.
Charlotte

This was a lovely homely and cosy place to stay, me and my family enjoyed evey minute, the owner was welcoming and made you feel very relaxed every little detail in the property was thought about, lots of small festive touches were made too, which made our stay perfect being winter, the hot tub provided us with hours of fun, and the bedrooms were extremely cosy and comfortable too, highly recommended and would love to return again
Such a comfortable cosy house and loved the little extras which were supplied. The house was beautiful and had everything that we needed, very comfy beds too. Only one thing which would have made it even better would have been an enclosed garden as half of the hedge didn't have a fence and our dogs would have been running off to explore into the field if we didn't keep an eye on them in the garden. Overall though we had a very happy and relaxing short break, thank you!
