Nant-yr-Rhedyn Reviews

Sandra
Lovely stay stunning lounge well appointed bedrooms and superb kitchen area. For our party group it was perfect with the outdoor space and hot tub. Heating hot water and toilet paper were a given in ample supply. Not a negative but a consideration stairs to second and third floor for our Newfoundland but we took her round the outside and she was fine x smaller dogs could have been carried.. highly recommend to anyone and location was spot on
The property was booked for a family group of 10 adults to celebrate my wife's birthday and it is certainly an ideal location for such an event. The dining kitchen is very spacious and the lounge is huge and very impressive all offering plenty of room for large groups. The bathrooms are nicely appointed. These are all the positives. In terms of things that could be improved, the cooker and dishwasher are at the end of their life with one oven door not closing correctly and the dishwasher only working effectively if half loaded. The owner was easily contactable to answer some initial questions we had regarding the heating and the WiFi, the latter of which doesn't work on the ground floor. Better details of these points in the information book, particularly regarding the WiFi, would be helpful. Unfortunately the hot tub, whilst hot, was not bubbling and the control panel was not working at the beginning of the holiday but the owner was responsive to our raising these concerns and came out to look at it. He was unable to fix it so called an engineer out and it was working extremely well for the last four days of our holiday. The bed linen and towels are quite old and some would benefit from being replaced. There is an eclectic mixture of cooking utensils with many mismatched pans and lids and tins that didn't fit the oven, however, just about every cooking item you need is available. The cleanliness on arrival was overall very good, however, there were a number of crumbs under small appliances in the kitchen. Bedrooms and bathrooms were all very well presented. In summary I would give an overall 4.5 rating and would definitely stay in this property again.
Our second time staying here. this is a wonderfully spacious house for a big family gathering. It was spotlessly clean and very well equipped. A minor comment, which is not a criticism, is that the dishwasher may be nearing the end of its life and it was important not to overfill it. We look forward to staying again if the opportunity arises.
This was our second and last ever visit to this house we had thought we had been unlucky to find faults last year which we assumed would be rectified. Instead things were worse! We had to hoover the main lounge before we could use it amongst the bits of cheese, broken seashells, dust and grime we also found a battery in the rug a clear danger to our children, baby and dog. The hoover bag needs changing, by the way, as it smells disgusting. The entire house really needs a deep clean, as I put my clothes in the cupboard I had to duck the copious cobwebs complete with spiders and dust. Awful smell from the drain in top room bathroom if youre there now, put the plug in the bath and stick to the shower but watch out for the shower head dropping out of its holderluxury bathroom it is not! Most of the towels are past their best. There is only one hand towel in the kitchen which is not very helpful when 4 or more people have had to wash dishes by hand. The dishwasher is a waste of space even when we only half or third filled it most of the dishes came out dirty and had to be washed by hand try doing that with 12 sets of crockery 3 times a day and then add pans, glasses and cutlery! We only used the dishes and glasses we washed first, if you go any deeper into the cupboards, youll find many more that are still dirty from previous holiday makers who simply got fed up with the dishwasher and just put their dishes back onto the shelves straight from the dishwasher. Dont know why there are so many drawers and cupboards full of the owners bits and pieces broken knobs, pack of cigarettes, reels of cable, numerous tins of paintthe list goes on. Under the sink there is enough cleaning stuff to actually complete a deep clean several times over but that was not our job! Too many odd pans without lids that fit. No microwave bowls or microwave lidded crockery which actually fits in the microwave. Loads of jugs for show but only one really old plastic one. In its favour the hot tub is working at the moment. There is plenty of hot water. The washing machine and tumble dryer work well. All the ovens work but one door doesnt close properly you have to lift and place it shut. The house has ample and spacious rooms and the beach is within walking distance. This place has so much potential for luxury but currently is far from satisfactory and no where near worth over 4k per week. Very disappointing.
It was everything we expected, we all enjoyed our stay at the cottage
Charlotte
Had a great stay here, 13 of us and 2 dogs. This house far exceeded our expectations, it was massive, with a well equipped kitchen and beautifully decorated, we loved all the quirky pictures and ornaments in the main lounge. Hot tub was great, although a little tricky to use, we struggled to get the temp right, it was a little too hot at times, but we still enjoyed it. WIFI was ok, although didnt really work in the kitchen, which was a shame as would of been nice to listen to some music whilst eating dinner or playing games around the huge table. Location was good, there's a rocky beach a short walk away down a steep road, but if you dont mind a bit of longer walk 2030 mins either through the campsite or along the coastal path you will come to Benllech beach which is beautifully sandy. Would definitely recommend and would love to come back.
The property is lovely as are the grounds. I had to contact the host and she was very quick in responding and very helpful. Whilst the property is clean bedding clean, towels clean, bathrooms clean the kitchen could do with a deep clean we had to rewash a lot of items in the kitchen. The hot tub was at the perfect temperature. The property has everything a large group would need. There are shops a short drive away. The one disappointment was the location of the property. The location shown on Sykes Cottages was not where the property is located. It is a 15 minute walk to the beach a lot of the walk isn't easily accessible for a childs pram.
We have just spent a superb week here with our family 11of us celebrating my husbands 70th birthday. The accommodation was very spacious and homely!! We loved the kitchen for family time and the living room was so spacious but cosy with the log burner glowing ! The garden was a wonderful space especially for the children and dogs and the hot tub was enjoyed by us all! We would certainly recommend it.
What an amazing house, hot tub was brilliant an lovely warm. The bedrooms were big and comfortable. The place was spotless and well maintained. All the children loved it as it was safe and secure for them to play outside. Thanks for making it a perfect weekend for our family.

This property has outstanding potential, but is badly let down by a few things that would be relatively easy and inexpensive to resolve. The lack of cleanliness was the major issue, with various areas being dirty, and many cobwebs throughout the property. This will probably prevent us from booking a Sykes holiday in the future. The hot tub was not sufficiently hot, and people had to get out pretty quickly to prevent getting cold. I appreciate that degree of warmth is a personal choice, but then not giving guests the control over the heating, either inside the house or in the hot tub was a major disappointment. Also, it appeared that similar issues have been raised previously, but not acted on. It gave our party the impression that the owners were seeking to save every penny, but sadly this approach has caused issues which severely impacted on our enjoyment of the holiday.
We stayed Easter Monday to Friday, gorgeous property with everything you need, nice walks to the beach nearby. The only thing was that the internetwi fi was intermittent especially downstairs in the kitchen, could do with some additional hubs to boost the signal and provide sufficient coverage. Other than that we had no complaints and had a lovely break for my dad's 70th birthday with all our family. Thank you, the Harrisons.
Hot tub wasnt working properly, no instructions. Contacted owner who said would send somebody around unfortunately nobody arrived. Disappointed apart from that house was fantastic

The house was comfortably large enough for 8 adults 4 children and 2 dogs and in a great location We made good use of the hot tub would have liked a chemical test kit though and all the communal rooms in particular the childrens play room, the large lounge and the settee in the kitchen area and the table that accommodated us all We did think that for a house geared up for children that plastic cups would have been useful We were disappointed that the washing machine wasnt working and communication with the owner was poor and a repair or replacement was not provided The amount of nik naks on surfaces meant that we couldnt clean properly We also didnt think the dishwasher was adequate for large numbers and didnt clean properly Water pressure in the showers was variable especially when two were used at once Overall we had a lovely time and would definitely consider visiting again
Gareth
The photos absolutely dont do the house justice, Im sure with better photos you will have an increased occupancy. Unfortunately and starting with the picky and small negatives Towels were left in the drier No Bath mats so had to use small towels Detailed cleaning of the house Skirting boards dirty, previous occupants rubbish under the sofa and down between the cushions and under the TV. When the shower is switched on the first floor, the top floor water supply almost stops. I know, how deva ish? However, this did not cause an issue to us and we absolutely loved our stay. We text the owners regarding no fire wood being in situ, within 10 minutes they had arrived with some wood. Top class service. A pool table in place of the amazingly ornate table football would be a fantastic addition and give more fun on those rainy days it persisted down every day of our stay. A good call would be to mention you need to book a table at both The Ship Inn very miserable and unappealing staff and the Boat House. We were left hanging a little for anything in walking distance but managed to get into the Ship Inn, considering there were 8 of us and we like a drink they could have been more welcoming. Hey ho! Anyway, this is meant to be a really good review! We had a ball, relaxed, walked, ate and drink considerably. Wed would love to come back in the summer. Hopefully the Sun will be out.
First class property which exceeded expectations
The house was beautiful, had everything we needed, and after some confusion over our stay the hot tub was filled up. Communication between the agency and vendors need to improve as we wanted to change the weekend dates but was let down by the lack of communication between the two of you. Thankfully we were able to attend but Mum did struggle with the steps after her hip replacement which could have been avoided.
Fabulous property with every comfort for a big party of people. We were celebrating 2 family birthdays and was perfect. Kitchen well stocked plenty of furnishings and bedrooms were beautiful Hot tub a bonus.
To start off the pictures don't do this property justice, I couldn't believe how large the rooms were. We are a family of 10, two grandparents three parents 5 grand kids 8 to 18 and Cooper our dog. We had the large suite upstairs, it was like any 5 star hotel we have stayed in. The house was always warm, shame as I wanted to light the wood burners. The kitchen is very well equipped, we cooked all week and never found to be short of anything. We couldn't get the wine cooler down in temp from 15 degrees but had more than enough room in the two fridges. The main room had four sofas and were very comfortable. The hot tub had very good use over the week and enjoyed by all even though I suspect it has a slight leak. We found three walks down to the coast taking only minutes. We wouldn't hesitate to stay again, the communication we had with Sarah was first class. Thank You
Super house tastefully decorated. Lots of space for everyone and plenty of hide and seek opportunities for the children and dog. Dishwasher and ovens were sometimes hit and miss but the laundry room was a bonus as was the hot tub. Comfortable rooms with nice views and close proximity to beaches and harbour. We had a great time and have already booked for next year.

We had a family 70th birthday celebration for my mum 14 of us and this property had everything we needed it is so spacious and well equipped. We had the best time would definitely go back
We stayed here as a surprise for my Dads 70th Birthday with 12 of us 7 adults and 5 children ranging 1014 yrs. There was a lot of space. This property looked good on the website but the pictures dont do it full justice. Its on 3 levels and there is a lot of communal room in the kitchen, 1st floor landing area and living room for large groups to socialise. The house is well equipped and you dont want for much in there. We had a small issue with the dishwasher but the owner was sorted this very quickly. The owner of the house also owns The Boathouse Restaurant at Red Wharf Bay, which is a 510 minute walk from the house, and we had a lovely evening meal there on one of the nights, and were kindly given a bottle of Prosecco, compliments of the owner, which was a nice touch. The master bedroom is stunning and so is the huge living room on the middle floor. Its a great spot to explore Anglesey & Snowdonia from and we had a great break. Wed definitely stay again in future!
Kathryn
The house was spacious and comfortable with plenty of facilities including the hot tub. The beds were very comfortable. One or two problems were noticed. 1. The central heating wasn't working but after a phone call one of the owners came to fix it. 2. A leak under the sink needed fixing but this was reported. 3. Parts of the kitchen could have been a bit cleaner. We enjoyed our stay very much.
Had a fabulous weekend at this house. Very comfortable and beautiful. Sarah and her sons we great to communicate with!!! Will definitely book again and recommend
The house was fantastic and the whole set up excellent. We really enjoyed it, all three generations of us. We particulary liked the hot tub. Maybe the towels were a tad tired and could do with replacing. The LL75 8RJ postcode in the Listing is wrong and correct post code is actually LL75 8RZ. Hence the Listing post code will take you to the beach but the house is not actually there. The directions are spot on but the brochure should not give a misleading post code.
Terrel
Arrived on Friday and was driving around for over one hour trying to find the property. Wrong postcode was giving to us. Tried calling the owner on a few occasions with no reply. The cottage was dirty cutlery was not cleaned properly, Dish washer not working so was standing washing for 12 of us. The shower upstairs was cold with no hot water. Handles on the frying pans broke. No lights in the bedrooms or plugs worked. Need compensation for all the facilities that didnt work.
Jessica
This place is possibly the BEST holiday home Ive ever stayed in. All amenities you could possibly need. They have thought of everything. Such a wonderful place thank you.
Steven
This place was comfortable and peaceful ,spacious easy to find and high speck decor and furnitures . We will go again but not with certain grandchildren , as little were little sods , them aside 1010
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the cottage. In a wonderful location in Anglesey. Would definitely recommend to others. We visited Beaumaris, Llanberis, Caernarfon and Trearddur Bay just to name a few. The accommodation was bright, large and well furnished. Thanks again for a great stay.
Sharon
Lovely property. We had a great stay and really enjoyed it. Great location. Hot tub was excellent.
Lovely property and great location. The rooms were lovely and the house wonderful. It was spacious and catered for our family of 10. Only a short walk to the beach, the Boathouse Restaurant and pub, which was an added bonus. Would highly recommend this house.
Amanda
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
The property itself was a lovely sociable space for our 3 generational family. Unfortunately, it was let down massively by the lack of cleanliness. The kitchen was especially dirty the floor, microwave, oven etc were all very dirty on our arrival. The washing machine also needed a good clean. The initial impression is ok, but further inspection reveals a lot of dust and grime. There was underwear from previous guests in some of the bedroom drawers. It's such a shame that this stunning property is let down by lack of attention to detail.
We had a wonderful holiday at NantyrRhedyn. The house is beautiful, much more than expected. It is very spacious for our family of 3 70 yrs of age. The games room perfect for the littlies with a large lounge alongside. All the rooms are amazing. The kitchen plenty big enough and very well stock with all utensils and crockery and good seating area. The large parking area was sufficient for our four vehicles plus our trailer full of Kayaks, body boards and wetsuits. The bonus being the hot tub, a hit with all of us. Another bonus an easy short walk to the beach. The Ship Inn good watering hole and the meal we had at The Boathouse was lovely. Would highly recommend this holiday house. Thank you Margaret and Barry Speake
Just had a wonderful holiday in this fabulous house with my family to celebrate a number of big birthdays, a 50th, 2 x 40ths, a 21st and an 18th so a rather special occasion and the property was perfect for us all. The rooms were all lovely especially the two large attic rooms with en suite although these did get extremely hot during the recent spell of very hot weather. The garden was a nice size with plenty of privacy and the hot tub the icing on the cake. The photos do not do this place justice, it is much bigger than it appears, especially the extra large lounge which accommodated us all easily. The only negative I would give the property is regarding cleanliness, on first arrival it appeared lovely and clean but it soon became apparent that this was a surface clean only, more attention should have been paid to this really important aspect.....would we come back again ? Absolutely with the hope it would be cleaner next time Overall an amazing place to stay, for any special occasions it is perfect.
Samantha
The cottage wasnt very clean, dust and moths everywhere. One side of the oven was broken, the coffee machine was filthy and rusty. I sat on a big rusty nail in the hot tub. We also found that although the essentials needed in the kitchen were there. We found them all quite dirty and had to deep clean anything before we used it. The dishwasher didnt really work properly, everything come out smelling like fish and dirty. The house has such potential, its huge and plenty of space with good facilities. We just felt the place needed a really good deep clean and all maintenance looked at. We did write a review in the guest book and left a letter but as the reviews on trip advisor states you could clearly see pages had been ripped out and probably binned.
Gillian
Fantastic space for our family x hot tub was a great hit with us all. Perfect x
Graham
Wonderful property in a great location absolutely ideal for us to celebrate our 50th Wedding Anniversary with our family
Andrew
Delightful property , comfortable and spacious , slightly spoilt by too much clutter. Our party appreciated the excellent hot tub , and the top of the range barbecue . We did have to provide our own gas canister
Exceeded our expectations, wonderful accommodation in a very peaceful setting . Plenty of room for our family to be together and also get some private alone time.
