Highgate Reviews

Jennifer
We had a very special family weekend to start off my 70th birthday celebrations. The house was everything you could of asked for. So spacious, extremely well equipped. All the rooms very comfortable And the log fire was great in the evening after a full day out and about. The hot tub was lovely and theraputic. Just what we all needed. Thank you for an excellent stay. Great fun had by all.
Had a great time! Thank You!
Gillian
We had a wonderful stay at Highgate. There were 3 generations staying the week and although it is definitely a house of stairs we found it to be comfortable and very homely. The house had everything you could need being away from home with the added bonus of a hot tub, which we benefited from. The town of Llandudno is beautiful amd the people are very friendly and welcoming. We used the house as a base to explore much of North wales and had a fantastic time. We will be back!!
Barbara
Good location we could walk to all the local attractions. House was clean and welcoming on arrival. Hot tub was enjoyed at the end of each day. Iwona facility manager was excellent.
Lovely cottage plenty of room and hot tub great addition. Bit of a walk into llandudno if you do not have a car but nice and quiet away from the busy town would recommend.
Debbie
Beautiful house. We had a lovely time. The pictures on the website dont do it justice. Would definitely stay there again.
My son and his family thoroughly enjoyed their stay. Everything with the accommodation was lovely. They found the location good. Close to lots of things to do with the children.
Judith
We had a lovely stay at Highgate, everything we needed was provided, very comfortable and the hot tub was a great place to unwind on an evening! After reading a couple of recent reviews about the cleanliness I was a bit worried as we were taking 2 toddlers with us but we need not have been worried as it was spotless! All credit to the cleaner who we met when we arrived, and who communicated with us throughout our stay. A fantastic holiday.

You need to look in to who is look after your property as was not good when we stayed as the cleaning was poor and washing machine was playing up all so you could not dead lock front door and windows were dirty all so down stairs patio one off door glass sea blown so Moisture between panes off glass not good at all

Excellent stay at Highgate. Place was quite unique in design and was nicely situated to walk to most areas. The house itself was well equipped and the hot tub is always an added bonus. We had a challenge operating the tv initially but the owners were quick to come round and see if the issue remained. They were very friendly and offered us tips on the recycling which is very particular in north wales. From highgate there are some nice walks that were actually documented in the welcome pack.
We all enjoyed our stay at Highgate it was comfortable , clean , spacious and had many good features . We particularly liked the hot tub , the childrens play area and the attic bedroom.

The location was great fir visiting attractions. The house was lovely and spacious.
Below is an email I sent to Highgate property landlord. 1. When we arrived at your property there was no welcome package, with this I mean a small bottle of milk, few biscuits, bottle of cordial etc just to allow us to have a cup of tea and a little break before navigating ourselves to local shops. I think it's important thay clients have this considering most people would have driven long distance to get to your property. 2. You kindly asked us to water your plants which in my book is not our responsibility considering we were on holiday but we went ahead and made sure your plants were watered daily. 3. You advertised your property as having a barbacue grill which we didn't find and you only provides us with one after we asked for it.To add on to this the grill was still in its box and your expectation was that we assemble it for you even though it was part of the package we had already paid for. Again we obliged and did the best we could assembling it. We could have made a fuss about this because it took us a lot of time from our holiday to try and build stand but we didn't because we are aware that such things happen. 4. To be very honest with you, your property was tidy but not as clean as you made it up to be, it was dusty especially in the kids bedrooms behind radiators etc but again we got on with it because we didn't want to ruin our holiday. 5. We couldn't find any bags to put the laundry and an instruction from sykes website stated we could leave dirty laundry in a pile in the bathrooms which we tried to do . Your cleaners only had to strip 2 single beds, remove a few food items from the fridge, clean a dressing table and collect a bag of recyclable bottles which was outside already and you decided to charge 100 from single mothers who were simply trying to give their children a bit of a nice holiday. Sorry for rumbling on but I thought I'll let you know how I felt. I also understand that you are only doing your job so I understand if you decide not to do anything about this email. Thanks
Highgate was exactly as listed, very comfortable, very well equipped and in a very good location. It proved to be an excellent base for a family holiday.

Enjoyed our stay at the Highgate, lovely house that just needs a bit of modernising through the bedrooms. The stairs to the top floor has a large gap to the side that could do with being covered or a bannister to prevent any accidents happening. Although baby gates are provided they weren't the easiest to work. The views and location are fantastic and would highly recommend. Philip was very friendly and helpful at advising us of some places to visit and the welcome basket was a lovely touch. The pictures don't do the house justice as I think there has been some rooms that have been modernised. The hot tub was nice but would benefit some solar lights. Overall we had a fantastic stay
The cottage was comfortable with lots of reading material . Owner helpful giving info for the area . In a convenient position for all amenities.
It is literally home from home! Such a well equipped holiday home with great comfort. A lovely extra of a local food hamper welcomed us too. It was love to meet the owner Philip, who was extremely knowledgeable of the area and explained everything well about the house. Highly recommend a stay at this property.
Judith
Highgate is a house we would visit again in view of the fact that measures were underway to repair damaged furnishings and improve the facilities. We were disappointed that a couple of things were not there that had been advertised, but we expect those to be remedied for future guests. There is a wealth of generous giving in all that is provided at Highgate and we felt very well looked after on arrival. The house is spacious and full of character, whilst being ideally situated for families and individuals alike. We wish those who own or are responsible for the provision of Highgate, all the very best in their 'work in progress' at Craig y Don.
When we arrived at the house the kitchen facilities where filthy. We spent a number of hours having to clean things when we where all tired due to our long journey. There was bacon fat in the fridge and all appliances where really dirty. We didn't use the hot tub as we where concerned about the cleanliness due to the state of the kitchen. We where compensated 100 pounds but feel we should have received more due to the impact this had on our stay. We paid a lot of money to stay at Highgate for the week and we shouldn't have had to deal with what we had to deal with. The property is nice but the cleanliness needs to be looked at.
Pauline
Highgate needs updating, it wasn't up to our standards for cleanliness the inside of the microwave was rusty, the cooker extractor was greasy and Dusty there was dust and cobwebs everywhere, cracked single glazed Windows very creaky floors, towards the end of the week there was a horrible smell coming from the hot tub, apart from that it's a lovely house for a four generation family plenty of room and comfortable, we enjoyed our stay there and would go again if it was improved it wouldn't take much time and money to bring it up to standard.
Robert
Great family place to stay with plenty of room and things for the children to do.
Valerie
As a group we found the kitchen excellent. It led into the garden and hot tub which worked really well for us. The downstairs shower room is well situated for use after the hot tub also. Communication with company was excellent throughout Thanks for a great time.
It was unfortunate we could not access the balcony with a sea view due to broken lock. We felt the caretaker could have done a bit more to get it sorted. The weather was ideal for sitting out there. A fuse tripped out during the stay and it took a while to find the fuse box. We felt we paid a lot for what we got over 2 nights we were however accomodated at short notice!
Fantastic spot and a wonderful host. We stayed here in order to visit Snowdon and it's a great location not too far from town and the facilities at the house are fantastic! Nothing quite like a hot tub after a long trek in the mountains. Would recommend!
Nope it was fine. We wre just wondering about he art work by the front door if it was severed fingers or strange insect pupae. Not that such a thing really matters. Everything was fine.
House was as advertised. Spacious and very comfortable. Good location.
