About Ty Melyn

Nestled in the charming village of Boncath, Pembrokeshire, is this wonderful three-bedroom cottage, Ty Melyn. Enjoying a superb location within easy reach of the historic town of Cardigan and Pembrokeshire’s stunning coastline, Ty Melyn is a fantastic family-friendly option for six, plus their two pooches.

On the ground floor, you will find a spacious and fully-equipped kitchen for conjuring up your best dishes, ready to savour at the dining table for six as you recount the days adventures. On warmer evenings, why not enjoy your meals alfresco out in the fully enclosed garden, followed by a dip in the bubbling hot tub?

After dinner, make your way through to the sitting room, where you can curl up on the plush seating in front or your favourite series on the Smart TV, as your canine companions snuggle up by the crackling woodburning stove. Completing the ground floor is a stylish bathroom, where you can freshen up in the walk-in shower or with a soak in the bath.

Continue up to the first floor, where you will find three tastefully decorated bedrooms, a double, a twin and a bunk, all ideal for catching some well-deserved rest. Wander through the village, where you will find a Post Office housing a shop for picking up essentials, and the welcoming Ffynnone Arms, perfect for treating your loved ones to a meal out.

Next stop is Cilgerran, where you can enjoy wildlife rich walks through the Coedmor National Nature Reserve, dine at the Cardiff Arms, or visit the fascinating National Trust – Cilgerran Castle. Continue onto Cardigan, where you will find the magnificent Cardigan Castle, Tefi Marshes Nature Reserve, the Welsh Wildlife Centre, and the lovely eateries of The Copper Pot, Yr Hen Printworks, and Shampan Cardigan.

Merlin Hill Centre - SA67 8BP

Merlin Hill Centre is a working dairy farm located deep in the Carmarthenshire countryside. Although not a petting farm the farm is still very family friendly with plenty of fun activities to keep children happy. The farm has a good sized play area and plenty of picnic tables as well as a Farmyard Heritage Centre where visitors can learn all about Welsh farm life and about the mystical Legend of Merlin. Get there early if you want to watch the cows being milked!

The Dinosaur Park is located in Tenby and makes the perfect family day out.  Activities on offer include fossil hunting, Dino Crafts, Pat a Pet and the treasure hunt.  For both toddlers and older kids there's an indoor adventure playground, ideal when the weather is not on your side.  The high-tec activity centre is always popular with interactive fun and education.  New in 2010 is Hooplasaurus.  Check out their website for the latest admission prices and what's on when you plan to visit.
National Botanic Garden of Wales - SA32 8HN

When the weather is nice this attraction is perfect as you can wander around and admire the superb range of exotic trees and shrubs.  They look different at different times of the year but one of the most popular times to see them is in Autumn.  With various events throughout the year such as Apple Weekend there is always something new to experience.  You can watch a 90 second film about this attraction on their website which is excellent.
Celtic Quest Coaststeering - SA65 9PT

Celtic Quest Coaststeering offers a unique way for active families to spend the day. As long as children are over 8 and everyone is fit and well the whole family can enjoy a day of climbing, descending down mountains, cliff jumping and Island hopping. This adrenaline boosting day out is not for the fainthearted. A half day of Coaststeering cost just £39.00 per person.
Pembroke Castle - SA71 4LA

Pembroke Castle is thought to be the birthplace of the Tudor dynasty and is an excellent choice for a family day trip. The castle one of the areas most iconic landmarks and features an amazing 75ft high Great Tower! Visitors can also take a tour of the Norman Hall and the Exhibition Rooms where the displays change regularly. There is also a Picnic area and plenty of open space for children to run around in the grounds and gardens. The site also has a cafe and a gift shop.

Dinefwr Park and Castle is the perfect place to come if you like the great outdoors. These stunning ruins are one of the areas most iconic landmarks and are surrounded by breathtaking scenery and wildlife of all descriptions. The gardens feature amazing floral displays and there is also a delightful Tea Room. Children can let of steam on the adventure playground.
