Caecrwn Reviews

Caroline
We had a lovely week at the cottage, with our two dogs. One is terrified of fireworks, and the cottage was rural and peaceful but easy to get out and about and made a good base, which is why we went this time of year over Bonfire night. Cottage had everything we needed in a beautiful setting. Dave and Rose were fab. Highly recommend, we intend to go back
Great place to stay. Host very friendly and helpful. Would recommend for family get togethers.

Stopped for a week with children and dogs. The owners are lovely people and very accommodating. The property is beautiful as is the surrounding area. Its very peaceful and relaxing and lots of nearby dog walks made it perfect for us to enjoy.
Nicola
We had such a lovely time. The cottage was immaculate and great views. We would have stayed longer if we could. Thank you so much. Only suggestions was maybe add a kids safety lock on the twin room window, but I appreciate not everyone comes with small children. Is there anyway a footpath could be made during times that the horses and sheep are in fields, as we didnt really want to drive anywhere, and limited to walk with dog.
Upon review I think giving this property a 4 star is generous however a 3 star would be considered a little harsh. As a staycation couple I would say that in general we were relatively underwhelmed by the property and the experience. We found that whilst the surrounding area was beautiful and the space that you had access to was a bonus, the price was not relative to the experience itself. Upon a 5pm check in which is quite late the cottage didnt feel ready, it had supposedly been cleaned before a late arrival however, the hot tub was green and smelled of stagnant water. There was a strong sour smell coming from the kitchen which we soon discovered to be a bowl of what could only be described as human vomit which was located in a bowl in the kitchen cupboard. I would advise, bringing your own condiments as there was no salt, pepper, sugar ect it is also worth bringing kitchen roll and toilet paper as minimal quantities of this are provided to guests with no replacements. For the overall price, we felt that you pay a lot for a quite limited, underwhelming and poorly equipped property. That being said, if you dont mind packing the car as if youre going camping, this property is perfect!!
Spent an amazing week at this lovely well equipped cottage in beautiful surroundings. Stunning views to wake up to across the Brecons. Lots of places to visit nearby, Waterfalls, the Brecons, Pen Y Fan, Rivers and Canal. Great for walkingcycling. Brecon town is nearby for supermarket shopping. Nice to relax to Hot tub and by the cosy log fire in the evenings. Enjoyed our stay so much we have booked to go again.
We had a amazing week . Highly recommended for a lovely quiet holiday. Cottage was beautiful very clean and everything u needed . Thankyou so much making us feel welcome . See u soon
Debbie
Lovely place so tranquil family were lovely and views beautiful
Me and my 5 friends spent great time at this place. Highly recommend!!! Warm, cosy, nice view. deal
The only thing I would say is the quilts on beds were extremely thin and therefore due to being winter was not warm enough also heating was not giving out heat in most of the rooms . The towel rails didnt work . We did enjoy our stay and the owners were extremely helpful and friendly Thank you
Trevor
What a beautiful cottage, me and my family had a lovely time here celebrating my 60th birthday. The cottage was lovely and clean inside, the king size bed was so comfortable always got a good nights sleep. The scenery from the hot tub was amazing, the owners were very helpful, would definitely recommend the usk and railway inn at Sennybridge for food it was excellent and the Aberglais pontsarn pub and restaurant food also excellent, Cardiff not to far away for a visit, would definitely recommend this property.
We really enjoyed our holiday in this lovely cottage, with stunning views of the surrounding countryside. Thank you for letting us stay. Tony, Helen, Jake, Tai and OscarThe dog.
Caecrwn is a wonderful barn conversion and it's in a serene location. The views are phenomenal and the quietness off the scale, exactly what we were looking for. It is as beautiful inside and had everything six adults and two dogs could have wanted. The owners are on site and were fab, nothing to much trouble. All who went would thoroughly recommend it and I would definitely book again. If you want peace and away from the world for a moment, in a place with all you needed, this is for you.
Beautiful cottage for a relaxing break, very roomy and comfortable. Lovely hot tub and views. Would recommend.

We love our stay caecrwn and would love to stay they again we have stayed in a few cottages over the years and this is by far one of the best the view from the patio is one you would never get bored of we where welcomed by the owners on arrival who where very friendly and helpful and through out our stay respected our privacy even while they worked on there farm we had a slight issue with the hot tub and after a chat with the owners it was rectified quickly and conveniently while we was out for the day this property has everything you need for a nice chilled relaxing stay
This is the second time weve visited the property over the last year or so & were really pleased we came back. The weather wasnt great to begin with but just sitting on the patio or in the kitchen enjoying the fantastic views of the fields, mountains, watching the clouds rolling across the sky, watching the sheep & the farmer cutting grass not to mention the horses, foal and one vey adorable donkey who my daughter just loved was fantastic, very relaxing & very quickly had us in full holiday mode. We brought our four dogs with us & are very grateful to the owners for allowing this as holiday destinations of this calibre that allow this number of pets are like gold dust. The owners are very friendly and easily findable whenever needed for all those things you inadvertently forget. We enjoyed our stay so much that we booked a return visit for November and are looking forward to experiencing such an idyllic holiday destination in the winter months.
We had a wonderful dog friendly stay at Caecrwn. Loved the views from the hot tub and its a great base from which to explore Brecon area and beyond.
Superb location with incredibly helpful and friendly owners. Cottage really well and thoughtfully equipped. Amazing views and brilliant enclosed area for the dog. A great place to get away and enjoy the beauty of the Brecon countryside. Hot tub was a treat with stunning views.
Absolutely wonderful, relaxing break, everything was perfect
Lovely welcome by the owner, great property overall very nice and clean just felt a little tlc needed in areas to make it outstanding.
Maggie
Set in beautiful countryside, quiet, comfortable and very enjoyable. Hope to visit again

This is probably the best cottage that we have rented for a holiday. Extremely comfy beds and very well equipped home. Good access to all 3 mountain ranges in the Brecon Beacons and links to local towns such as Merthyr and Abergavenny. Large hot tub and utility area were the icing on the cake. Very well equipped kitchen and good amount of storage in the bedrooms.

Been to this cottage before, lovely beautiful views, one downside is the beautiful hottub could do with overhead cover as it was raining and although warm & lovely bit miserable with rain on your head but all lovely other than that
Deborah
Lovely cottage in lovely surroundings. We loved using the hot tub, even in the rain. The owners were very friendly. Overall, fantastic holiday.
Amanda
We loved our stay at Caecrwn cottage. The house had everything we needed for a relaxing break. The beds were all comfy and facilities were good. Loved the large country kitchen table with the beautiful views over the Brecon Beacons. There are tiled floors throughout the ground floor so would definitely recommend slippers or thick socks in the winter months! It's in a quiet location just a short drive from Brecon good directions from Dave and Rose were helpful in finding the cottage. Lots of lovely walks and a good base from exploring this part of Wales. We would happily return to Caecrwn Brecon itself is well worth a visit as is Abergavenny. A little off the beaten track we would recommend The Castle Inn at Llangorse about half an hour away for the most fantastic Sunday lunch we've had in years!
Jonathan
Words and pictures do not do this place justice it's first class and I cannot recommend it highly enough. I booked a lastminute stay for 7 nights. Communication with the owners was very easy, and I was provided easy directions although satnav took me straight there. On arrival, I received a warm welcome from the owner and a comprehensive tour of the property and features. It was spotlessly clean and felt spacious yet incredibly homely. The location is stunning well away from the main road, in a valley, with lovely views of fields and woodland. It's very peaceful and stars at night put on a real show. The hottub is a proper hottub which the owner maintains well, and has a genuine rock 'n' roll insulation cover to keep the temperature stable at night. Kitchen is stocked with good equipment and the fridge freezer was large enough for us only to do one shop all week. The lounge has a good woodburner and cozy ambient lighting. The selection of board games was a lovely touch and we enjoyed time away from the television! All three bedrooms were supremely comfortable, well insulated, and well equipped. The bathrooms have excellent showers. The home has central heating which heats all radiators across two zones and the hot water. It can be thermostatically controlled and has timers and boost settings. The house is so well insulated and warm that we barely needed to use it. The house is situated a few miles north of Brecon. There are lots of things to do locally. If you want to burn some energy off, I recommend climbing Pen y Ffan from the nearby north approach which is much quieter than the south route. At nearly 3,000 ft, it is a spectacular walk from start to finish and well worth a day out. We can't wait to come back to Caecrwn and would not hesitate to others.
The property was on the whole very clean, comfortable and owners very friendly. A couple of minor points which the owner may not be aware of The sofas were not very comfortable, it seems that the base seat cushions had gone really flat over time. particularly the centre sofa where you can feel the wooden frame when sitting down We took both our dogs and were informed the could go on the lawn area down the steps from the patio. We always clean up after our dogs but were a little disappointed that there was already a large amount of dog waste on the grass. This could be from the previous guests and I did pick up several bags over a couple of days. The lounge and kitchen seemed very cold at night even though the heating was on. The two small radiators in the very large lounge just didnt do the trick and so we did have to use the log burner every night to be comfortable. As I say these are minor points but I think its always useful to give all feedback so the owners are aware. This will in no way stop us recommending the property and in all our stay was very nice. The bed in the master bedroom was amazing and so comfortable, house was extremely well equipped and the hot tub was a massive bonus.
Melany
We have just spent a weekend in Caecrwn for my husband's 60th birthday . The property was lovely and it was spotless. The owners make your stay as they are so friendly. Would definitely go back !!!
Amazing property, location very scenic. Dave & Rose very accommodating and very helpful.
We were greeted on arrival by the owners, their young children and three friendly Collies. After a short chat it was great to know they were available if needed. We were blessed by unseasonably good weather and managed to go for a walk or visit sites in the dry. If it had been wetter there was plenty of entertainment with the smart TV board games,WiFi and the hot tub. The property was well presented and we enjoyed chats around the enormous kitchen table. A minor problem with hot water was solved immediately and we really enjoyed the fresh vegetables from Daves allotment. A great place to stay with a dog and we highly recommended it.
Sharon
We stayed at this cottage on the 71022 for a week the cottage was absolutely amazing beautiful views From every window as well as the hot tub , lovely and cosy in the evening with the log burner on. Dave and Rose are very accommodating and nothing is too much trouble for them, we had such a great time that we have rebooked for next December for Christmas 2023 cant wait . From Les Sharon & Barbara. From Kent
We had an amazing holiday! The cottage was very clean and spacious and really cosy at night with the log fire lit. The owners were super welcoming and overall lovely people. Outstanding location with beautiful views from the terrace and hot tub. Would definitely recommend
Pauline
Lovely property with wonderful views
Samantha
Absolutely stunning property surrounded by breathtaking views. The property was clean and well presented with lots of home comforts, as well as the luxury of a hot tub on the terrace. The one and only issue was a lack of toilet rolls Id recommend bringing your own as theres only 1 roll per bathroom provided and it isnt the best quality. The owners were friendly and very helpful! A lovely little weekend getaway, Id definitely book again!
Idyllic location property fully as described, probably better actually! Friendly helpful hosts Would definitely return And recommend to one & all
Channelle
Super amazing stay. Exactly as described. Is even bigger in person than the pictures appear. Nice large living room with plenty of seating and a big table in the kitchen. Three toilets in the cottage altogether. Lovely big hot tub. There was plenty of room with 5 of us in there. Could easily fit 6 and still have space! Nice enclosed back garden for the dog to happily run around in, and to say hello to the horses on the field underneath! The views are absolutely incredible, you can see the rolling hills of the Beacons from all around. Short drive to Brecon town where we hired a canal boat and had pub lunchesdrinks. Aldis and Morrisons there too. The cathedral is super lovely and has a garden cafe. The only down points which weren't big at all! Was there were only a few complimentary teabags, and only a few loo rolls. We had to go out and get more of these supplies, which I've never had to do when staying places before, but it was a minor inconvenience. And there was only a small recycling box underneath the sink and nowhere for us to empty it. So we started filling up boxes etc with our recycling, which was obviously a bit of a pain with the dog sniffing about. We didn't really have hot water all week, it was lukewarm at best, but we used the hot tub to warm up so wasn't too much of an issue. But honestly these were minor things. Everything else was super perfect and I would definitely come back again so thank you to the hosts! Perfect way to spend my birthday
Lovely, comfortable house for six people in a magical setting. The views from the terrace with hot tub are stunning. Pretty, easy circular walk from the house to the river with friendly ponies to see en route. Short drive into Brecon. Very comfortable beds and sofas, excellent showers and well equipped kitchen. The only thing we would have liked to have seen was better reading light in the sitting room. Would definitely return.
The place was very beautiful, the time which we spent was amazing. Anyone who wants to escape from the city and spend time in nature is definitely recommended.
