About New Peny

This well-furnished, detached bungalow lies in the village of Penybont, just five miles from the well-known Victorian spa town of Llandrindod Wells. This spacious cottage enjoys large lawned grounds and benefits from a central location in the village, providing an excellent base for a family retreat.

From the cosy woodburner and engineered wood flooring, this cottage oozes warmth and charm, all of which won’t disappoint. The kitchen and diner is finished to an exceptional standard, with contemporary appliances and an island unit, along with dining seating for all.

The master bedroom features a sumptuous king-size bed and modern en-suite shower room, so you can prepare for your day with ease. There is also a double and single bedroom, which are served by the ample family bathroom complete with bath and shower over.

For extra convenience, there is a utility room with washer and dryer, useful if you explore across a muddier route. Outside through the patio doors, step into the patio area which houses a wonderful hot tub.

Indulge and relax with a glass of something cold, or switch on the jets for that Jacuzzi experience, the perfect way to round off a tiring day exploring. The patio area also features a large picnic bench which lends itself to alfresco dining in the sun.

There are walks from the door as the property is on the edge of the Penybont Common. Nestled in the spectacular Welsh countryside, the village of Penybont is famed for its popular garden centre Midway Plants and Nurseries.

Just opposite the cottage is The Severn Arms, an 18th century coaching inn, while further ahead in the village is the Thomas Shop, museum and gallery, all well worth a visit. New Peny is ideally placed for exploring the area, the stunning Cambrian Mountains and the Elan Valley with its Victorain dams and wildlife rich countryside.

New Peny Reviews

Katheryn
Just back from a lovely few days new penny is well equipped for 6 people , clean, lovely towels and bedding, garden secure for dogs and children, we all loved the hot tub and the welcome goodies were a lovely touch. Plenty to do in the area llandrindod Wells Lake and the elan Valley Close by, lots of places to eat or takeaway, nisa shop and petrol station under 5 minutes and a tesco and aldi in llandrindod Wells.

Third time we have stayed at New Peny, and it never fails to deliver. Took logs with us as we know we use the log burner regularly and there is insufficient logs provided to last our stay. The bungalow is pretty warm anyway, but we love having the wood burner on. Hot tub lovely after long walks and cleaned regularly. Lots of towels provided for the hot tub but we had taken our own anyway. Lovely pub opposite who always make us welcome. The Sunday roast carvery is the best, but make sure you book.
We had a week booked here but unfortunately day 3 of our holiday we were involved in a car crash that ultimately ruined our holiday and turned it into a holiday from hell. The highlights of our holiday were the house and facilities offered. As we were grounded to the house for 3 days trying to sort out a courtesy car we made use of the log fire and hot tub which was lovely, we enjoyed a lovely meal in the Severn Arms Hotel across the road thankfully as we had no supplies in and couldn't get out to get any due to the car issues. We had an issue with my daughters disability aid breaking whilst we were grounded but thankfully the man who runs the car garage across the road was lovely and let me borrow a screwdriver. The house was lovely, clean and spacious, in a lovely area. Great hot tub and lovely gardens but unfortunately due to the circumstances I wouldn't come back but was nothing to do with the property. The property was the highlight of our holiday.

Booked the bungalow as a place for three friends to meet up and catch up. It was a perfect place to relax and unwind with everything we could possibly want, with the addition of a hot tub which was great. Clean, roomy and a great secure garden for my two Jack Russells. Ideal location for walking in the hills around the Elan Valley, Devil's Bridge and surrounding areas. Caught up on the gossip and caught up with sleep. Ideal

Had a lovely week loved the hot tub, everything we needed in th kitchen & around the cottage, Severn arms Hotel across the road food was excellent.
We've had a great week at New Peny, it's a very clean and comfortable cottage, with everything you need, it's got all your home from home luxuries. The hot tub is amazing. A lovely welcome basket awaits. We had such a lovely week there. And the bonus of a pub opposite you and a quirky coffee and cake shop less than 200 mtrs away. Thank you.
Lovely property, clean and good condition. Lots of space for all and an enclosed garden. We had a brilliant stay
Lovely place . Clean and tidy . A real home from home . Would definitely recommend .
We had a lovely stay at New Peny, the property was very spacious, nice large kitchen which accommodated 5 of us easily, very clean and everything to hand that we may have needed, hot tub was lovely to chill out in too.
We had a lovely stay at the bungalow very homely and easy access to local attractions. One thing it said in the description was the garden was enclosed by the hottub area, yes it was enclosed however the garden is a wrap around and we couldn't leave the dogs out alone as there is a large gap under the main gate which leads onto a main road which our dogs could get under. An idea might be to put a small fence up at the back of the property. Also the pictures look like the property is in the country side , but is actually on a main road which was quite noisy.

A lovely spacious property, like home from home, with all the facilities we needed to enjoy our stay. A great base for enjoying the surrounding areas, with a nice little pub over the road that has lovely views across the river. We would definitely stay here again.
Unfortunately we did not meet the owner which we found a bit strange so we didn't know if the hottub had been checked as when we used it on the second night it wasn't as hot or full as the previous night. The cottage was lovely though and the thoughtful touches were really appreciated by us all. It is a beautiful place and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Highly recommend This property had everything we needed for our stay. The hot tub was lovely. Spacious and comfortable bungalow fully dog secure garden. Lots to see and visit nearby.
We had a fantastic stay at New Peny perfect bungalow to relax. Home from home everything you needed. Lovely gifts left eggs, crisps, biscuits. All essentials were in the kitchen. The hottub was marvellous and enough towels. Lovely pub across the road that does food and dog friendly. We ordered Chinese takeaway delivery to the property. Jane was lovely and invited us to go 2hrs earlier for check in and the communication was great. Would definitely book again all the family had a great break.
A lovely bungalow, plenty of space both inside and out. Beds were very comfy, lots of towels, lots of utensils and crockery. Very much a home from home feel. Children loved the hot tub which was large and under cover. Quiet location despite being next to a road. Pub is directly opposite and lovely, we ate Sunday lunch there, it was delicious. We spent Saturday in Llandrindod Wells, the lake is worth a visit and the high street was full of independent shops, really nice to see. Only slight downside was the cleanliness of the bungalow, hairfluffdebris in the kitchen drawers and cupboards in particular. There is a hoover at the property so I ended up hoovering the cutlery drawer and wiping down kitchen surfaces. Similar issue in bathroom and shower room. Once cleaned we could enjoy the rest of our stay. Would definitely return in future.

Really lovely place and just what we needed for a relaxing break after a very stressful time. Loved the log fire and the hot tub, as well as the decent sofas. The kitchen was really nice too, and it was great to have a separate space to enjoy meals and games at the large kitchen table. The only negative was beard hair on the en suite sink, and a few other areas that could have been a little cleaner, but it didn't detract from our stay. Jane was easily contactable and quick to respond and solve any issues. Would definitely recommend.
A lovely well presented holiday property. Clean comfortable and well stocked. Great sized rooms. Hot tub was a massive bonus! This is a great holiday home to get away from it all and relax.

Lovely property & made so good memories hope to return again 1 day

Lovely place. It had that home away from home feeling. Had everything that you need. The garden was lovely and secure for the dogs. Hot tub was lovely to go into after a day out exploring and was checked everyday by the owners, but they didn't disturb you to check it but when we did see each other they were very friendly. Found a nice little layby breakfast van 4 minutes away, called the yellow snack van, which was a treat to stop at when you was up and out on a day exploring. Already looking at when we can come back and would highly recommend this place to anyone.
Ashley
This was our second stay at New Peny which didnt disappoint. The bungalow was very clean and comfortable and the hot tub was lovely to relax in after walking. Kitchen was well equipped and beds very comfortable. We enjoyed sitting in front of the log burner which had everything we needed for a couple of roaring fires. Communication with our host was very good and recommendations for places to eat out very much appreciated. There is also plenty of information in the guide book on walks and places to eat out and get a take away from. We would highly recommend staying at New Peny and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Thanks Ash & Jayne

Cottage was amazing, comfy clean and everything we needed, lovely welcome package. Hot tub was fantastic, beautifully done under cover for all weather's, they have thought of everything to make this a relaxing holiday. Would definitely recommend and love to come back.
Amazing property, proper home from home & a lovely welcome pack included, would highly recommend staying here.

Wonderful place to stay. Little welcome package of milk, snacks and some eggs was a welcomed surprise. House was lovely. Totally secure garden, excellent facilities. Quiet village. Lovely pub across the road and wonderful tea room and museum nearby. Highly recommended. 5

Fabulous stay at a beautiful property. Well equipped and a perfect location for travelling to surrounding areas. If could pick one small issue would be the front gates at the drive of the property are slightly raised I understand the slope of the drive so not sure what could be used to correct but meant that we had to ensure dogs were secure on leads to not escape. Everything you need for a holiday is within the property. Thank you
We had a brilliant time and we thank the owner it clean cosy and warm and not ... We had a brilliant time and we thank the owner it clean cosy and warm and not too far away to the Royal Welsh Show Kind Regards Mrs C Brooks
Excellent accommodation, very well maintained and equipped. Lovely comfy beds. Plenty of space. Pub opposite is nice and Thomas Museum is quaint and have a little tea room. We loved the hot tub and the dogs loved the garden and we felt it was all very safe for them. Weather wasn't the best our week, but we did have a few sunny days. We didn't go out exploring much as the holiday was purely to rest and relax, and we really did have a lovely week at New Peny
Beautiful cottage, fourth time staying and it will not be our last. Always super clean and cosy every time we go. Great for some family time away for us and the children love the hot tub. Very happy as always . We will be back .
Disappointed that the pub across the street was only open for food Thursday to Sunday lunch good food it would have been nice if they had done food every night could not fault the bungalow though.
The new peny was beautiful. Perfect for us. We all loved it. It was quite. Not 1 thing to complain about. The pub on the other side served food that was a good size and well worth a visit. Plenty of info about places to visit , menus for food to be delivered if you dont want to eat out.. but everything if you want to cook. We loved it. Thank you Jane and every one involved for renting such a lovely place out.
Jacquie
The bungalow was perfect for our needs a secure open space for the dogs and children in the garden and a private good sized hot tub for the adults. The sun shine in the garden too. The property was clean, well equipped maintained and a modern homey feel. There were snacks and eggs left for us which was a lovely welcoming touch. A garden bench or chairs would have added to the perfectness of it all. Thanks for making New Peny the perfect place for a few days break.

A wonderful home with all you need from a property. The hot tub is the best we have ever used. WiFi is ok but would be the only thing that needs to improve, everything else was brilliant

We had a fabulous stay in a fabulous house! Its absolutely beautiful. Will definately return. Thank you

Wow! What a stunning bungalow! Myself and my family have just returned from the New Peny after spending Christmas there. The bungalow was spotless, it was well equipped with absolutely everything you can think of! All the rooms were so beautifully finished, and the hot tub was a huge luxury and nicely placed under a veranda. The property is well secured for your fury friends, my 2 dogs loved a good run around! The property was very accessible for wheelchair users, making our stay for my dad so much more simpler. My children wanted to live there and didn't want to leave!! They loved it! The bungalow is in a picturesque village of Penybont with a very friendly pubrestaurant across the road at the Severn Arms, everything you need within 510 minutes drive. Jane the owner is incredibly accomodating and friendly, always on hand for anything you need. Would not hesitate to return and would highly recommend this beautiful bungalow.
What an amazing place! !!! All the facilities you could possibly need on a break away. A very luxurious home from home. We've just returned from a long weekend, 3 Sisters and Mum celebrating Mum's birthday. Fabulous. The pub opposite was very welcoming, although not currently serving food, whilst undergoing some improvement. Had a fabulous Sunday lunch in the main town at a 16th century Inn. Jane, the host was contactable by text if required. Highly recommend a stay here.

A fantastic property probably my favourite. My only advice would be that the ensuite bathroom needs a little bit of work as it smells of sewerage. Maybe the property needs a little bit of paint and a new rug in the front room these are minor criticisms however i have stayed here before a few years previous so i compare it to than. Comforting, cosy, clean a super kitchen and dining area lovely outdoors area brilliant hot tub although i miss seeing the stars as there is a wooden structure ... i personally like to look up. Lovely dog walks, nice locals I love the property so much i wish i could buy and live there permanently.
Lauren
The property itself was absolutely stunning it is large, spacious and the outside area is fantastic. We had issues with the cleanliness the rug in the front room was dirty, there was chocolate and ice cream wrappers in between the sofa cushions, under the bed was thick with hair and dirt. The extractor fan in the kitchen was also dirty. We also found that our hot tub was not checked even though the booklet in the property states it will be checked twice a day Unfortunately we did not find the beds comfortable this is a personal thing and in no way the owner of the properties fault. Due to this, we had a few sleepless nights. Overall, the property is lovely but needs to be maintained better.
We had a lovely time in New Peny the house is in an excellent state and the outside area is great especially with a dog. The location is excellent to explore wales and there are amazing walks around. Absolute recommendation and well definitely come back.
We loved the hot tub and the size of the property. Two suggestions maybe have a blackboard showing when the man has been to the hot tub as a person who doesnt really want to be seen in her swimsuit it would be nice to know if you've been out if the hot tub has been looked at and you can get in without being disturbed. Also, there were a lot of flies in the kitchen I know there are Sheep not far so can't be helped but the kitchen needs a better fly trap or killer, the garden was safe but because of my tiny Pomeranian there were gaps she could have escaped through but they loved running around and around all in all we enjoyed our stay and would come back again. beds very comfy and loved my ensuite
