About New Peny

This well-furnished, detached bungalow lies in the village of Penybont, just five miles from the well-known Victorian spa town of Llandrindod Wells. This spacious cottage enjoys large lawned grounds and benefits from a central location in the village, providing an excellent base for a family retreat.

From the cosy woodburner and engineered wood flooring, this cottage oozes warmth and charm, all of which won’t disappoint. The kitchen and diner is finished to an exceptional standard, with contemporary appliances and an island unit, along with dining seating for all.

The master bedroom features a sumptuous king-size bed and modern en-suite shower room, so you can prepare for your day with ease. There is also a double and single bedroom, which are served by the ample family bathroom complete with bath and shower over.

For extra convenience, there is a utility room with washer and dryer, useful if you explore across a muddier route. Outside through the patio doors, step into the patio area which houses a wonderful hot tub.

Indulge and relax with a glass of something cold, or switch on the jets for that Jacuzzi experience, the perfect way to round off a tiring day exploring. The patio area also features a large picnic bench which lends itself to alfresco dining in the sun.

There are walks from the door as the property is on the edge of the Penybont Common. Nestled in the spectacular Welsh countryside, the village of Penybont is famed for its popular garden centre Midway Plants and Nurseries.

Just opposite the cottage is The Severn Arms, an 18th century coaching inn, while further ahead in the village is the Thomas Shop, museum and gallery, all well worth a visit. New Peny is ideally placed for exploring the area, the stunning Cambrian Mountains and the Elan Valley with its Victorain dams and wildlife rich countryside.

New Peny Reviews

Corrinne
Really lovely place and just what we needed for a relaxing break after a very stressful time. Loved the log fire and the hot tub, as well as the decent sofas. The kitchen was really nice too, and it was great to have a separate space to enjoy meals and games at the large kitchen table. The only negative was beard hair on the en suite sink, and a few other areas that could have been a little cleaner, but it didn't detract from our stay. Jane was easily contactable and quick to respond and solve any issues. Would definitely recommend.
A lovely well presented holiday property. Clean comfortable and well stocked. Great sized rooms. Hot tub was a massive bonus! This is a great holiday home to get away from it all and relax.

Lovely place. It had that home away from home feeling. Had everything that you need. The garden was lovely and secure for the dogs. Hot tub was lovely to go into after a day out exploring and was checked everyday by the owners, but they didn't disturb you to check it but when we did see each other they were very friendly. Found a nice little layby breakfast van 4 minutes away, called the yellow snack van, which was a treat to stop at when you was up and out on a day exploring. Already looking at when we can come back and would highly recommend this place to anyone.

This was our second stay at New Peny which didnt disappoint. The bungalow was very clean and comfortable and the hot tub was lovely to relax in after walking. Kitchen was well equipped and beds very comfortable. We enjoyed sitting in front of the log burner which had everything we needed for a couple of roaring fires. Communication with our host was very good and recommendations for places to eat out very much appreciated. There is also plenty of information in the guide book on walks and places to eat out and get a take away from. We would highly recommend staying at New Peny and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Thanks Ash & Jayne

Cottage was amazing, comfy clean and everything we needed, lovely welcome package. Hot tub was fantastic, beautifully done under cover for all weather's, they have thought of everything to make this a relaxing holiday. Would definitely recommend and love to come back.
Amazing property, proper home from home & a lovely welcome pack included, would highly recommend staying here.

Wonderful place to stay. Little welcome package of milk, snacks and some eggs was a welcomed surprise. House was lovely. Totally secure garden, excellent facilities. Quiet village. Lovely pub across the road and wonderful tea room and museum nearby. Highly recommended. 5

Fabulous stay at a beautiful property. Well equipped and a perfect location for travelling to surrounding areas. If could pick one small issue would be the front gates at the drive of the property are slightly raised I understand the slope of the drive so not sure what could be used to correct but meant that we had to ensure dogs were secure on leads to not escape. Everything you need for a holiday is within the property. Thank you
We had a brilliant time and we thank the owner it clean cosy and warm and not ... We had a brilliant time and we thank the owner it clean cosy and warm and not too far away to the Royal Welsh Show Kind Regards Mrs C Brooks
Excellent accommodation, very well maintained and equipped. Lovely comfy beds. Plenty of space. Pub opposite is nice and Thomas Museum is quaint and have a little tea room. We loved the hot tub and the dogs loved the garden and we felt it was all very safe for them. Weather wasn't the best our week, but we did have a few sunny days. We didn't go out exploring much as the holiday was purely to rest and relax, and we really did have a lovely week at New Peny
Beautiful cottage, fourth time staying and it will not be our last. Always super clean and cosy every time we go. Great for some family time away for us and the children love the hot tub. Very happy as always . We will be back .
Disappointed that the pub across the street was only open for food Thursday to Sunday lunch good food it would have been nice if they had done food every night could not fault the bungalow though.
The new peny was beautiful. Perfect for us. We all loved it. It was quite. Not 1 thing to complain about. The pub on the other side served food that was a good size and well worth a visit. Plenty of info about places to visit , menus for food to be delivered if you dont want to eat out.. but everything if you want to cook. We loved it. Thank you Jane and every one involved for renting such a lovely place out.
Jacquie
The bungalow was perfect for our needs a secure open space for the dogs and children in the garden and a private good sized hot tub for the adults. The sun shine in the garden too. The property was clean, well equipped maintained and a modern homey feel. There were snacks and eggs left for us which was a lovely welcoming touch. A garden bench or chairs would have added to the perfectness of it all. Thanks for making New Peny the perfect place for a few days break.
Nicholas
A wonderful home with all you need from a property. The hot tub is the best we have ever used. WiFi is ok but would be the only thing that needs to improve, everything else was brilliant
Melanie
We had a fabulous stay in a fabulous house! Its absolutely beautiful. Will definately return. Thank you
Stacey
Wow! What a stunning bungalow! Myself and my family have just returned from the New Peny after spending Christmas there. The bungalow was spotless, it was well equipped with absolutely everything you can think of! All the rooms were so beautifully finished, and the hot tub was a huge luxury and nicely placed under a veranda. The property is well secured for your fury friends, my 2 dogs loved a good run around! The property was very accessible for wheelchair users, making our stay for my dad so much more simpler. My children wanted to live there and didn't want to leave!! They loved it! The bungalow is in a picturesque village of Penybont with a very friendly pubrestaurant across the road at the Severn Arms, everything you need within 510 minutes drive. Jane the owner is incredibly accomodating and friendly, always on hand for anything you need. Would not hesitate to return and would highly recommend this beautiful bungalow.
What an amazing place! !!! All the facilities you could possibly need on a break away. A very luxurious home from home. We've just returned from a long weekend, 3 Sisters and Mum celebrating Mum's birthday. Fabulous. The pub opposite was very welcoming, although not currently serving food, whilst undergoing some improvement. Had a fabulous Sunday lunch in the main town at a 16th century Inn. Jane, the host was contactable by text if required. Highly recommend a stay here.

A fantastic property probably my favourite. My only advice would be that the ensuite bathroom needs a little bit of work as it smells of sewerage. Maybe the property needs a little bit of paint and a new rug in the front room these are minor criticisms however i have stayed here before a few years previous so i compare it to than. Comforting, cosy, clean a super kitchen and dining area lovely outdoors area brilliant hot tub although i miss seeing the stars as there is a wooden structure ... i personally like to look up. Lovely dog walks, nice locals I love the property so much i wish i could buy and live there permanently.
Lauren
The property itself was absolutely stunning it is large, spacious and the outside area is fantastic. We had issues with the cleanliness the rug in the front room was dirty, there was chocolate and ice cream wrappers in between the sofa cushions, under the bed was thick with hair and dirt. The extractor fan in the kitchen was also dirty. We also found that our hot tub was not checked even though the booklet in the property states it will be checked twice a day Unfortunately we did not find the beds comfortable this is a personal thing and in no way the owner of the properties fault. Due to this, we had a few sleepless nights. Overall, the property is lovely but needs to be maintained better.
We had a lovely time in New Peny the house is in an excellent state and the outside area is great especially with a dog. The location is excellent to explore wales and there are amazing walks around. Absolute recommendation and well definitely come back.
We loved the hot tub and the size of the property. Two suggestions maybe have a blackboard showing when the man has been to the hot tub as a person who doesnt really want to be seen in her swimsuit it would be nice to know if you've been out if the hot tub has been looked at and you can get in without being disturbed. Also, there were a lot of flies in the kitchen I know there are Sheep not far so can't be helped but the kitchen needs a better fly trap or killer, the garden was safe but because of my tiny Pomeranian there were gaps she could have escaped through but they loved running around and around all in all we enjoyed our stay and would come back again. beds very comfy and loved my ensuite
We've just returned from a 4 night stay at New Peny over the bank holiday week end. It was a family stay of 5 adults and our dog to celebrate a big birthday. The location is near a junction which was a little noisy with bank holiday traffic but you couldn't really notice it when inside the property. The bungalow is bigger than it looks in the photos, very well equipped and well maintained and had everything we needed for our stay. The owners have obviously gone to a lot of trouble with all aspects of the fixture, furnishings and decor. They also provided a selection of welcome items which was a nice touch. The kitchendiner was an excellent entertaining space for our family meals. The large garden was loved by our little dog and safe enough with the secured gates to allow him some freedom to roam. The large hot tub was a joy to relax in. We had a lovely time, thanks very much. Would definitely book again.
Patricia
The bungalow was gorgeous and had a lovely homely feel to it however the only fault was the amount of cobwebs there was in every room. Myself and my daughter have a phobia of spiders, it only took a few minutes to get rid
Angela
We had a fab time in new peny was suppose to stay 3 years ago initially but Covid stopped us . We celebrated 3 birthdays here 18,30th and a 50th. We had everything we need and more . Amazingly kitchen everything we could possibly want. Very secure for the dogs. Off road parking. Outside sitting area and the fan hot tub. Thank you so much
Had a lovely week staying st New Peny. Beautiful house and beautiful weather. Pub across the road was really welcoming. Cottage is probably an hours drive to the seaside but we were quite happy staying at the cottage enjoying the glorious weather. Welcome surprise to come back to some extra outdoor seating. Friendly guy came round every day to check the hot tub. All in all a perfect get away would love to go back some day.
Sharon
Very nice cottage, need new pans and a good clean of windows. There was everything we needed for our stay. Hot tub is wonderful very relaxing.
Loved the size of the property and hot tub was great. However, we didn't have any extra towels provided for hot tub use or told we need to bring extra do we ended up washing a lot. There also didn't seem to be enough crockery, glassware or a bread knife? The kitchen had loads of flies which was pretty annoying. Overall it was ok, but we wouldn't come back. It was too close to the neighbours for us too as we felt we needed to be quiet in the hot tub which wasn't really us!
Nice place, clean for a holiday cottage helpful owners. Windows could do with a clean being window cleaners to us it really notices
The bungalow was in an excellent location. Beautiful private garden, with one of the best hot tubs we've used. Inside is lovely and maintained to a high standard. Would definitely return.
It was perfect in every way. Nothing was missing & everything worked perfectly
One of the best holiday cottages we have stayed in, it had everything we needed. All beds very comfortable. Lovely clean hot tub. Dog safe garden. A plus was the pub opposite which was very friendly and welcoming.
We had a perfect stay. There was everything we needed and more. The hot tub was an added luxury and throughly well used. Owners helpful and were a text away. Thank you for lovely weekend.
We had a really great week at New Penny last week of Jan. the weather was cold and dry which made the fantastic hot tub even more enjoyable to relax in after a morning walk round Radnor Forrest and a few drinks and some lunch at the pub across the way. The log burner inside was great to come inside to and the beds super comfy
This is a great place, we chose something last minute, but couldnt be happier. Owner kept us updated and the place was stunning , even left us a welcome back. This is done to a great standard and we will be back
Rhiannon
New Peny is an amazing holiday bungalow. It is extremely well equipped, spacious and comfortable. Everything is of good quality furniture, bed and linen, shower, hot tub. The only negative we felt cold in the sitting room and needed to use the blankets to keep warm. We didnt use the wood burner due to asthma, but even if we could have used it, it would not have helped the chill when we got up in the morning or when we returned from visits. Without this negative we would gladly give it 6 out of 5. It truly is a beautiful property.
New Peny was beautiful and very well equipped. We had a lovely weekend there and the hot tub is amazing. We would highly recommend New Peny.
Kelsea
Absolutely beautiful place, the dogs loved having so much space to run around in the garden. The hot tub was amazing too. We are already looking at booking again for next year.
New Pen y is an exceptional property. Everything is provided for an excellent vacation. I was impressed and excited as I stepped through the door to meet the owner when I collected the keys. Said owner was extremely friendly and helpful. I immediately felt welcome. The whole property is tastefully decorated and the furnishings, bed linen etc are comfortable, clean and fresh. Nothing has been overlooked. Congratulations to the owners for creating a space that is home from home...and more.
