The Old Cobblers Shop Reviews

We had a great stay. Beautiful cottage with even nicer views! The only thing that we thought was missing was instructions on how to use the hot tub and the sauna and the fridge was too cold and froze all our food. Geoff responded very quickly to our questions when we were there.
The cottage was lovely, cosy & had everything you needed for a couple & short stay. The views were lovely from the hot tub & the garden. The added out house with the washer & dryer & space for bikes were definitely a bonus. Inside was cosy & warm with the underfloor heating & fire. Jeoff the host was great & as we got caught in the snow, there was no rush to cheak out by 10 as he understood about weather, very thoughtfull & kind of him. We very much enjoyed are stay despite the weather & would definitely be coming back, warmer weather
Absolute lovely place and location, facilties very well kept and will definitely look to book a return trip when in Wales!

We've just come home from a lovely weekend at the cobblers shop. What can I say, you have everything you need here. The facilities were great it was so cosy and on a dry day the outside is just the most perfect chill space. The owner was really helpful and on the other end of the phone if we needed him. Would definitely recommend to anyone for a lovely little get away for couples. Hot tub was fantastic and it's in a good location for walks.. We went and did the four waterfalls at brecon beacons. Thanks for a great time

The accommodation was amazing the facilities available where perfect and the garden has recently been built by the looks of it as it was perfect. If your looking for a relaxing getaway this is the place.
Absolutely beautiful setting and everything you need for a very comfortable stay. The owner, Jeff, checked up on us on arrival and departure and told us to contact him at any time with any issues, of which we had none. Stunning find and we will absolutely be returning. Would 110 recommend a stay here. Sunset in the hottub was simply amazing with the most beautiful of scenery.
A really homely and cosy cottage in an unbelievable countryside location. So peaceful and a choice of outdoor spots to enjoy the views from. Plenty to do for walkers and outdoor lovers nearby, Elan Valley is an amazing place. Perfect for couples looking for a countryside escape for a few days.
Just had a great time in this absolute gem of a place, it was exceptionally clean inside and out upon arrival with everything there we could need, including a welcome basket of local produce. The view from the hot tub of the Welsh valley was magnificent and the sauna was a welcome part of the morning routine. The local pub is only a short walk away with great food, the locals made us feel incredibly welcome too. Just watch out for the landlords dry but witty humour haha. Would definitely stay here again and something tells me we will be
Samantha
Greeted by the owner on arrival was very welcoming and friendly. Stunning cottage, with beautiful log burner. large garden, with great outdoor facilities, hot tub , sauna, fireplace. Lovely little welcome hamper. Would definitely stay again and already bragged others about how beautiful it was. Peaceful area too. Could do with larger saucepan, mixing bowl and some other handy kitchen items.

A very beautiful and spacious cottage, we will certainly be going back. Fabulous cottage in a beautiful peaceful location. The cottage was immaculately clean and spacious with linen, towels. .Graet garden area with hot tub, sauna, fire place ,etc. The owner was very helpful. We found a welcome hamper with eggs, wine, cookies...We had a great time. Thank you.
Natalie
It was everything we hoped for and more! Lovely and cosy and a perfect getaway. Despite the Welsh weather we spent more time outdoors than in! The view from the hot tub beautiful Welsh countryside in the day and an astonishing view of the stars at night is a particular highlight for us, coming from living in the city. The bits and bobs left in the cottage by Geoff were a lovely touch also. Thank you so much and well definitely be back!
Fantastic cottage and facilities in the garden were amazing, we enjoyed our stay enormously and there were some lovely touches from the owner. You should visit, we will again!!!! J C
Lorraine
What a fabulous cottage couldn't pick any fault with it at all give it a go you won't be disappointed geoff the owner has the place well equipped the hot tub was fab even in winter we sat in it in the rain lol the rest of the outside space was fantastic summerhouse barbecue firepit pizza oven whats not to like. .. husband had a sauna everyday I could go on forever but I won't.. go see for yourself oh I must say thanks to Liz the flowers were appreciated x
The welcome was very warm and friendly. We stayed here two years ago and it is now apparent that wear and tear has not been fully addressed. The bathroom extraction fan was dirty. Since it takes 15 minutes to clean there is no excuse. The jacuzzi cover is tatty, a new one would make a world of difference. The sauna door was warped and did not close. I would still recommend the place and we really enjoyed it.
Loraine
Wonderful stay, everything was lovely & clean, outside area superb, the only things i would recommend you need is instructions booklet on how things work, sauna, hot tub, etc, also couldn't get the sauna door to close properly, would definitely recommend & would love to come back.
The terraced decking outside is an inventive use of space and turns this cosy renovation into something truly memorable. Even in mid winter we made full use of the hot tub and sauna and thoroughly enjoyed trying our hand at baking homemade pizzas in the wood fired oven. We had to tear ourselves away to enjoy the beautiful rolling hills and pleasant walks right on the doorstep. Ample outdoor storage space for muddy boots and wet coats, utility room with all amenities washing machine, tumble dryer, additional fridge and freezer space and thoughtful outdoor lighting means that it is perfectly possible to keep the little open plan cottage warm and clean even in the harshest of Welsh winter weather. Contrary to other reviews, I found the kitchenette well stocked with quality utensils and the microwave functions as an oven too. I would thoroughly recommend this accommodation.
Lovely place with good outdoor space, Hot tub & a Sauna was good too. Could do with a small coffee table as there was nowhere to place your drinks whilst sitting on the settee and maybe swing the settee around so that your facing the TV rather than on the side, however it is a great place for short break. Owner was very helpful too.
Great little cottage, great for few nights. We'll equipped except very little storage space for longer stays. Nice welcome pack
The old cobblers was beautiful and in a great setting. Driving up to the cottage was great and seeing it had us excited for or stay. On entering it was what we expected cosy and modern with small rustic touches. Outside areas were amazing and clean. Hot tub was great and the sauna was amazing after working out how it works. Few small negative points, no welcome book to say how things work e.g sauna, microwave oven, induction hob. No sauspans for cooking food, Also found popcorn in the side dresser, floor was dirty. The biggest issue and there is not much you can do about the weather but it was so hot in the accommodation because of the heatwave there was no way to cool the place down because if you opened the windows and doors you would have a room full of flies.also no shelter from the sun outside if you wanted a shaded area. Bed was comfortable shower room great. Sofa cosy and in the evening plenty of areas to sit outside but the lighting did not let you play cards or read outside.overall we would book again but knowing what we needed we would take them along. Winter time would be lovely with the firepit and log burner.
Outside barbecue area was covered in cobwebs, no instructions for anything inside outside provided, There is a keysafe on the shed as instructed but the one with lodge key in is on the garden wall so wasted 30mins trying to open the wrong safe, on arrival, NO WIFI ? ?. But Hot tub, Sauna, garden area and views where brilliant,
Lovely place ,outside facilities perfect could not ask for more only criticism is a little small inside ok for a couple of nights but anymore i think would of been an issue for us as the bathroom is very small , having said that its well equipped and they have certainly used the space that was available very well.
Zephaniah
The little shop itself was very nice clean, supplied with a goody box aswell which was a nice touch. We enjoyed the cider and wine in the hot tub, which was one of the best parts of stay. Logs and fire starters werent stocked, had to purchase own. Advertised WiFi but no WiFi worked, cleaners and staff on last day extremely rude
Elizabeth
A very comfortable cottage for a brief stay. Beautifully kitted out with amazing facilities. Welcome basket a lovely touch. Wonderful views .
We really enjoyed our stay at The Old Cobblers shop but there were a few areas that we feel could be improved. One issue we had was that there seemed to be a bit of a fly problem, there were lots of flies in the accommodation that we could not get rid of and it was not very nice having to eat in there with flies flying around. We did have to go out and buy some fly spray from a supermarket but even with this there was still lots of flies. When we arrived the dishcloth was wet and had clearly been used and left in the sink. I would have preferred no dishcloth as opposed to a dirty one. There was rubbish in bins which had also not been emptied around the accommodation and the outside area which suggests it hadnt been cleaned properly. There also seemed to be no wifi in the accommodation despite it being advertised to have wifi, this wasnt a massive problem but when wanting to watch a film at night we couldnt use Netflix or the internet to find a film. A slight recommendation would be for there to be a welcome book with information about how to use the facilities and any important information in. For example, people may not use a pizza oven, hot tub or sauna regularly so it would be good to have some top tips or information about how to use them. The bins are also different in local councils so we were unsure what to do regarding recycling and general waste. It may also be worth mentioning when booking the local shop opening hours, it closes at 3pm on a Saturday so if checking in on a Saturday it will already be closed when you arrive so at least if made aware prior to arrive we could have planned to stop at a shop further away. Like I said we really enjoyed our stay and these were only minor problems which hopefully will be addressed in the future and despite these we would definitely recommend the accommodation.
Katarzyna
Absolutely fantastic place, cosy little cottage with ample outdoor space, fenomenal view from the hot tub, as well as peace and quiet, and beautiful starry nights. The little welcome basket with cakes, cider and some fresh eggs was a great and much enjoyed little touch. As much as I appreciate it's a romantic getaway, I can wholeheartedly recommend it for a relaxing girly weekend away too as we loved it
Very beautiful little place, we really enjoyed our break away. Great views from the hot tub in the evening. Ran into the owner a few times who provided us with kindling and logs for the fire pit and pizza oven. Not much to do in the area apart from the local pub The lion hotel but they're really friendly and nice food. The lodge itself was small but nice and what was expected and was left a nice little hamper of eggs cider and wine which was much appreciated. Would definitely go again thank you.
Robert
Really nice spot. Away from the hustle and bustle of big city life.
The property is stunning and well kept. The bed was really comfy. We spent our 2 full days there relaxing. Couldn't log onto WiFi but it wasn't a problem. Didn't use sauna as it was so hot but the hot tub was well used. We ate outside on the patio. The views are lovely and you're not overlooked by nearby house's, it's totally private. Would have liked to use the fire pit but there was no supplies. We had a little welcome pack of eggs, Welsh cakes, wine and cider which was much appreciated. Would highly recommend.
Michael
Amazing stay beautiful place first time in Wales and we. Love it we will be back.
We stayed here for 3 nights in may such a cute cottage excellent facilities if you want a get away from it all , chill and do nothing holiday this place is for you . We were really lucky and had lovely weather so really enjoyed the outside space which was also excellent .
We stayed here for 3 night and it didnt disappoint, was very clean and lots to keep busy with at the cottage. Hot tub and sauna kept us busy relaxing.
Sarah-jane
Beautiful cottage in a gorgeous spot. Perfect for a quiet get away. Inside small and compact with all basic kitchen requirements, lovely fire and big TV. Bed very comfy, pillows could be better though. I would have liked there to be a hair dryer and extra towels for the hot tub. Tumble dryer outside though and extra small fridge very helpful. Gardens lovely. Very private, beautiful views. Fantastic to have a hot tub and sauna. Remember to take some slippers to walk to them though. Tried using the pizza oven but unfortunately couldn't get it going with wood. Apparently needs coals. Really enjoyed our stay. Owners very helpful and quick responses. Would definitely recommend a visit.
Couldn't of asked for more everything was spot on! Lovely place very clean and well looked after
Alexandra
Really cosy stay for a little get away, everything was really clean and all the amenities were good. The little welcome basket was lovely!
Very clean and maintained. Nice and quirky just how we liked it.nice little welcome package aswell and amenities very good.
Very well presented & maintained property, with careful thought given to facilities provided. The outdoor areas are finished to a very high standard. We had a great relaxing stay & will hopefully be visiting again.
