The Cart House Reviews

Amelia
A wonderful barn to accommodate our family reunion and we thoroughly appreciated the open plan space downstairs and room sizes upstairs. The fully enclosed garden was great for our dog, and everyone enjoyed the hot tub. A very pretty and tranquil courtyard setting and a stunning barn conversion. Fast WiFi, too. Have already recommended to friends.
The Cart House is a lovely property, it's really comfortable and the hot tub was a real treat. The location is good for getting to local attractions such as Bewilderwood and The Ice Cream Farm, which was the reason for our visit. Paul was welcoming and answered the few queries we had throughout our stay. The only thing I would advise is with young children it would be helpful to have a stair gate at the top of the stairs but this is absolutely an us problem and we enjoyed our stay all the same. The property benefits from a dishwasher and washing machine and a fridge freezer. The large dining table is great to gather for dinner. We travelled with 4 children under 9 we enjoyed the open plan layout downstairs. Unfortunately the weather didnt allow for a bbq but the views and secure garden were also brilliant. We would definitely recommend and stay again if we needed to. Thank you for having us!
Heather
LoungeTV area could be made a bit more comfy. A bigger tv and bigger sofa would make this area great. Having said that, it was comfortable as it is. We really enjoyed our stay, there were 5 of us plus the dog plenty of room. The hot tub was cleaned daily and well used by us. Owner was very friendly and checked everything was ok.
Lovely holiday cottage was home from home, everything you could want. The hot tub was added bonus we used every night. A lot of pubs to enjoy evening meals easy to get to places. Paul lives next door very helpful but unobtrusive. Would highly recommend
Loved our time here garden and hot tub were brilliant just a shame the tv volume was that poor we couldnt use it
This is a lovely property clean, quiet and comfortable. Paul was very welcoming. The area is a great place to visit with some good, dog friendly walks. Would highly recommend!
A lovely warm, clean, modern home in a quiet courtyard. Hot tub and bottle of fizz ready on arrival, nice private enclosed garden for the dogs too. Paul readily available nextdoor if any issues. Good base to visit north and south Shropshire, Wales and Ironbridge. Lots of places to visit locally. We would definitely visit again.
Had a lovely stay at the Cart House over the new year. Paul was very accommodating and left us a bottle of prosecco in the fridge. Hot tub was really clean and provided much needed relaxation after a tough year. The property is warm and clean, the beds were very comfortable. Thanks for a lovely stay!
Stephanie
Owner was absolutely lovely! House was kept upto a very clean standard and has been decorated beautifully. Hot tub was on and ready for us the first evening which was very much appreciated after a long drive. Easy to find and nice and close to little towns etc.
Great location to visiting many of the surrounding areas. The house was amazing, great facilities, in a beautiful location. The kids loved the garden and we loved the hot tub. All facilities high end, the owner Paul was so accommodating and the welcome goodies were an added bonus.
Deborah
Had a lovely chilled time in a beautiful property so peaceful and homely with the added bonus of the hot tub. Loved it xx
Sophia
Great countryside location, beautiful property and amenities, we really enjoyed ... Great countryside location, beautiful property and amenities, we really enjoyed our stay, great for a group, good facilities for babytoddler, beautiful garden and hot tub
A great place, in a great location, had everything we needed. The owner met us even though it was getting late and was available if needed. Booking was was easy and the listing was correct. Thank you, we will be booking to come back.
Cherie
Fantastic venue and ideal location for exploring. The owner was extremely helpful, happy to be contacted and offered lots of top tips for enjoying the local area. Would happily revisit!
Thanks to Paul for hosting a perfect holiday break for our 3 generational family. We received a bottle of Prosecco and some lovely flowers and eggs upon arrival a nice touch. The property was light and spacious and had the benefit of an enclosed garden where we could let our two family dogs run around in safely. Location was very quiet but not too far from amenities if required. We used the Aldi supermarkets nearby for food shopping. Whilst staying here we visited Chester Zoo about 45 mins away and Hawkstone follies about 10 mins away. I could highly recommend both for families. All in all the property was excellent and if we are ever planning the area again as a family would not hesitate to book again. Thank you Paul again for sharing your property with us
Great property and we all have a really lovely weekend. Paul is really friendly and on hand if you need him. I would highly recommend this property.
Lianne
Relaxing stay with beautiful peaceful surroundings. The barn has a lovely openplan feeling that offers everything you need for a lovely stay. There are lots to do within the area for families and couples to visit or eat out. The owner is always on hand if needed and very friendly. Thank you for a lovely stay.
Lovely location and a great host
This is a great place to stay for exploring the local area and you can be on a beach in an hour which was a bonus for us with the dog. The property is lovely inside and out with everything you need for a nice break. The hot tub is a nice addition and we made good use of it even though it was only 3 degrees outside while we were there. The garden is also ideal for dogs as its fully enclosed with access to a big field at the back. Paul was on hand to welcome us and answer any questions. Will definitely return here.
Russell
This property is stunning. The owner was great at communicating and also left us some goodies on arrival. The only downside was that the hot tub wasnt warm enough for the evening of arrival. The visitors book mentioned that this is the case because it is fresh on arrival. I presumed they had replaced the water and it hadnt achieved full temperature yet. Other than this, the weekend was lovely and the setting was idyllic. Thank you for a lovely stay.
Michelle
We had a fabulous stay at The Carthouse. Everything was perfect the tree, the welcome pack, the beautiful main living area, the location and of course, the hot tub! Extremely dog friendly really appreciated how the garden was so safe too. The owner couldn't have been more helpful and we would definitely recommend.
The pictures do not do the carthouse justice! ! It is a beautiful clean space that makes you feel right at home. Paul the owner was really friendly and even left us some treats which was a thoughtful touch. There is lots to do in the local area and we will definitely be returning in the future. I would highly recommend staying here!
Ashlee
We recently stayed with my parents and 2 sons. Everything was spot on. Beautiful property, really helpful and friendly owner. We will 100 book to go back again, hopefully summertime next year to enjoy the beautiful garden and hot tub
Really enjoyed staying at the Cart House and wed definitely stay again. Paul was welcoming and available but discretely so. The property is beautiful, clean, spacious and we made good use of the hot tub. Great to have a dishwasher, washing machine and streaming sites available on tv to use own accounts. There was plenty to do in the area, there was a lot we didnt have time to do that we would have liked to. The stairs are quite steep so would be difficult for someone with bad mobility issues and possibly could do with a shower mat as its a little slippy. Thats being really picky as I dont have anything bad to say.
Richard
Stayed here with my partner, 2 boys and Charlie our dog for 1week. On arrival you get the sense of wow factor, lovely area and lovely plot! Was greeted by the owner Paul, very polite and kind, was a quick check in procedure and even allowed an earlier check in! The house itself is very spacious, gorgeous kitchendining area and the garden was perfect finished off with a great hot tub. The only negative Id say is it requires more kitchenware cooking equipment. All in all a great snd would defo recommend!
The Cart House was an a fantastic base location for our recent family holiday to Shropshire. Property was finished to a really high standard as per the pictures in the listing. Everything we needed was on hand to ensure a relaxing family holiday for 2 adults, 2 children and our family dog. Hot tub was an added bonus and we put it to good use. The garden was secure and we had no concerns from a dog owners point of view. The Owner Paul was friendly, helpful and knowledgeable of local areas and was kind enough to have provided some nice touches with bread, milk, eggs and prosecco. We used the Cart House for a base location and did 6 day trips to Trentham Monkey Forrest would recommend Hawkstone Park Follies would recommend Edrigg National Trust Shrugborough National Trust would recommend Chirk Castle National Trust Attingham Park National Trust would recommend .... all within a 45 min drive of the Cart House. All in all a great property, would recommend.
A warm welcome is recieved at the Cart House on arrival. If you want to get away from it all this is a peaceful place to be. Spend your days exploring the local area and further a field. David Austin Roses is 40 mins away but we'll worth a visit if you like something different British Ironworks at Oswestry is a must with some great deals to be had to. Addington House is a good trip out if a member of the National Trust. For those who fancy a run there a nice 5km loop and if you like a short cycle a 17km loop with a pub in the middle. After all this excitement sink in to the hot tub and watch the sun go down and relax
Michael
We had a great time. It was so quiet and peaceful a great place to wind down. Our two little dogs loved it, with walks so close by and a secure garden to run around in.
Property is set in a beautiful location, very private and quiet with countryside surrounding it. Exactly as it is shown in the photographs. I had 2 small grandchildren and 2 dogs with me, one of which was a puppy and the private very enclosed garden was perfect, with the added bonus of a hot tub. Paul the owner was a fantastic host and could not have been more welcoming and it was lovely to find welcoming gifts on arrival. Would absolutely recommend a stay at The Cart House and hope to visit again myself in the future.
We all look at reviews dont we ! Its probably the thing that prompts you to book. Well all I can say is this place lives up to the high review listing The host Paul had a warm welcome greeting and a few nice touches as a welcome pack The barn was as the photos show but is actually much more spacious in reality, all clean and tidy. The hot tub is a large tub and we had a great time to relax after a day out. Superb for our dog who could roam in the fenced in large garden Only point I would suggest would be to install a downstairs toilet but thats only a small thing just my old legs running upstairs. Would I stay here again absolutely yes
Great stay in a lovely place. We were warmly greeted on arrival at 8pm. The Carthouse is beautifully renovated with a modern finish. It is well equipped with everything with needed. We enjoyed our time exploring Shropshire and then relaxing in the hottub at the end of the day. Communication from the owner was excellent Many Thanks!
An idyllic peaceful getaway surrounded by beautiful scenery. The house is rustic and contemporary providing a real connection to nature with all creature comforts. A wonderful family get together . Paul was great available but unobtrusive. Great information of local sites pubs and points of interest. Well presented . Will not disappoint . Will certainly return . Lorna
Nicola
A beautiful house in a beautiful location. You really are in the middle of nowhere so I suggest you do a food shop before you arrive! Paul was a fantastic host and always on hand if we needed anything. Lovely touch leaving milk, eggs, bread, flowers, and alcohol for the first evening. The property is in the middle of nowhere very secluded, with two parking spaces at the front. The property was done out to a very high spec and the underfloor heating downstairs was amazing. It gets extremely hot in the afternoon with the sun on it. We struggled to work the heating though and think it maybe a good idea to explain how to use the heating in the manual, as not everyone is use to all this technology! The kitchen area was great, I do think it maybe worth providing more cuterly, plates, pans etc, as of there is six of you staying and cooking a big breakfast you had to wash and reuse pans. It would have been nice to have some kitchen foil and kitchen roll to use. Upstairs area is fantastic, three spacious bedrooms all with wardrobes. One ensuite and one family bathroom. The Hot Tub was amazing, very clean, could do with more lighting outside though, as the security light goes off after a minute or so and the solar lights are no good in the winter! Overall a fantastic week would definitely recommend it. Thank you Paul.
Angela
Fabulous home from home , we really enjoyed our stay and just felt relaxed from the moment we arrived. We had everything we needed and the hot tub was just amazing after a walk through beautiful surroundings
Fabulous, hidden gem in Shropshire We wanted a short break to escape our selfimposed lockdown of two years plus an escape from the diagnosis of cancer and before the real treatment starts. Cart House is just brilliant for this. The owner, Paul is very keen to welcome guests personally and is on hand during the week to help with any assistance and advice. The property is very quiet and secluded with offroad parking for two cars. Inside is magical a literally barnsized, open plan lounge, diner and kitchen. All with oak beams overhead but modern in its equipment and design. Theres even a breakfast bar with stools. One amazing contribution to the homeliness is underfloor heating a boon for guests as well as canine visitors. The backdoor leads out onto a large, enclosed lawn with picnic & BBQ area and the fabulous hot tub. Back inside, up the stone feature staircase, you are lead to the three impressive bedrooms the first is ensuite but all three have a vast headroom up to the original oak beams. There is also a family bathroom at the end. The whole home is well furnished with luxury touches blinds as well as curtains. A thermostat just for upstairs which shows the good design. For the chef the kitchen is vast and well equipped dishwasher, washing machine, microwave, electric touch hob and extractor, fridge & freezer plus a pod espresso machine. The whole place has a brand new feel to it and it is all well maintained. Its a great area to explore hiking, dog walking, pub visiting a huge and I think well researched list is in the welcome pack. We came here in part to revisit old haunts when we sailed by in our old narrowboat everywhere now is so easily reachable Market Drayton Joules Brewery, Whitchurch, Whixall Moss, Shrewsbury . . . . An ideal place for couples, whole families, two families and dogs! A gem and highly recommended
Charlotte
Loved the accommodation. It was a great space to see in the new year.
Natacha
So spacious yet cosy, modern and homely. We really enjoyed our stay abs found it to be like a home from home.
Delyth
Had a fabulous weekend at The Cart House and didnt leave all weekend. We wanted a relaxing weekend and took advantage of the facilities and especially the hot tub! Had a great welcome from Paul and lovely welcome touches. Fresh flowers, eggs, milk and bread etc. couldnt fault our stay. One minor thing which did not detract from our stay was no downstairs toilet. The Cart House is 5 though as everything accommodated. We enjoyed ourselves so much weve booked again for the spring!
Jessica
We had a lovely stay at The Cart House for our friends 30th Birthday. Couldnt fault any part of it, the owners were super helpful! We plan on coming back next year.
Owner paul made us feel really welcome. House was lovely and great size for us all. Warm and comfortable. The only minor things I could point out was that the bathroom needs a little more ventilation as there was quite a bit of condensation and the lights on the hot tub need fixing as we had to keep activating the security light so we were not sitting in the dark. Other than that, a beautiful house and would definitely stay again.
