The Old Farmhouse Reviews

Charles
Thoroughly enjoyable stay in a splendid property. Cake and vino was a nice touch but sadly no one drinks pink so left for mtce team!!! Whilst it was no issue to us, some of the wooden garden furniture around the table could do with a look at as some arms looked loose and need screws replacing.in my view. Overall, pleased we chose it but unlikely to come back only because we choose different areas of the UK for our annual get together. A group of guys who worked together and this year was our 19th. Totally recommend the property
We had had a fabulous stay. The only problem was the toilet seat in the outside studio bedroom was very loose. Other than that everything was spot on and absolutely loved property and the garden. Communication was good with all necessary information regarding the property and its location.
Sophie
Excellent stay and would recommend for large groups. Relaxing setting and great social spaces in the barn. Hot tub and garden were fabulous added extras to the property, making for a very enjoyable stay.
Richard
Lovely house that has everything you need Great hot tub, lovely garden. The house is well away from town so it's not easy to just pop out for something. The television signal is affected by the trees weather but not a big problem. Great management team who are very helpful.
Jeanette
Thank you we had a great time, even more special we had some breakfast and afternoon teas out in the garden the weather was kind to us. There was everything we needed in the house
Barbara
Directions need to be backed up with these three words and local signage and sign outside much bigger. The farmer where we arrived first at was not happy at all and they get loads of guests turn up there. Picture shown on your site is taken from the bottom of the back garden or by drone. The front you actually arrive at is just a side wall. I had booked six bedrooms in the house but ended up with five and one in The Old Donkey Shed. Which was okay but I should have been advised. Phone reception is poor for most networks, WiFi was limited as only one and not very powerful router which we think served all five properties.. Three of the older wooden doors downstairs did not have handles to close them and had to be propped shut. One staircase did have any form of handrail that was dangerous. Downstairs toilet seat was broken on one side of back fitting when we arrived and wobbled around. My daughters partner temporarily repaired the shower head in Donkey Shed which was in pieces when they arrived, but it probably needs to be replaced. Kitchen well fitted and kitted, dining room good apart from ceiling light held together with clip ties. Lounge good, the only constructive suggestion is some blinds or similar on bifold doors as it is south facing and when the sun is out, and it was, with those bifold doors, every one is sitting in full sunlight until after 3.30 pm. We improvised with dog blankets and pegs. Another suggestion is avoiding beds with wooden foot boards as anyone over six foot tall cannot stretch out and constantly hurts themselves. Hot Tub was good. We had a good time despite everything.
Cheryl
A fabulous property. Large comfortable rooms with a well equipped kitchen plenty of seating in lounge & dining room & beautifully warm. Hot tub was well used. Was perfect for our multi generation mixed families group.

Excellent property for a large family birthday occasion. Young and older family members thoroughly enjoyed. Fantastic location. Would highly recomend.
We have had amazing time in the farmhouse, their were 12 of us and their was plenty of room , beautiful farmhouse and location and so peaceful , the farmhouse is so lovely and we were welcomed with such lovely treats, the rental company have been amazing keeping us informed of everything we needed to know. I would definitely recommend to book here if your looking for a relaxing gathering.
We are a group of friends who regularly book cottages for short breaks. This is one of the nicest places we have stayed. Location, facilities, space were perfect. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained with plenty of seating. We never go to the same place twice but this may be the exception!
As a family we had the most wonderful holiday at The Old Farmhouse. Everything we needed was there! The property was spotlessly clean on arrival, the wine, cake and chocolate a very much appreciated gesture! There is so much space for everyone and it was perfect that we could all sit together at meal times in the fab dining room! The garden is exceptional, the hot tub was fab, we all loved being able to enjoy it all because we were fortunate with such good weather. Only thing we were disappointed in was the sun beds two were broken and unable to use them, but a picnic blanket on the grass works just as well! We loved it thank you for letting us stay and we hope to be able to come again!
Denise
We had the most amazing weekend at the old farmhouse, which was made even more special due to the beautiful weather we were fortunate to have. A couple of practical things that could improve it would be If the four poster room had an ensuite. It seems the number one room for size and gives an impact when you walk in and yet no ensuite. Increasing bathroom capacity would be good. Also the door on the kitchen should have a lock as it was time consuming to keep trying to hold it shut with a door stop that perhaps wasnt quite heavy enough for the job whilst people were going in and out to the lovely large porch area to get loaded and unloaded. This was particularly challenging with small fast dogs and an infant. A good addition would be a stable door so that the bottom could be shut and the kitchen would also benefit from the stream of light coming into the porch. The door to the downstairs bedroom and bathroom area would also benefit from being able to shut properly. Another practical aspect is 9.30am is too early to get 12 people up and out. I do appreciate there has to be turnover time but feel 9.30 is pushing it. Kitchen additions some wooden spoons please and a bigger toaster! Also it would be helpful to have a given time of hot tub check as the gate was left open without warning and with small fast dogs and an infant this was a bit of a worry. Overall the holiday was amazing with plenty of room inside and out. Would definitely recommend and yes would go again.
Lovely family holiday. Lots of space for everyone. Garden was amazing and private. Games room was an added bonus. Would definitely go back.
I have already completed a feedback comment which I understood to be from the property owner. We put a very complimentary write up in her Visitors Book.
We celebrated our mother's 60th birthday here and had a great time. The property has a great layout and we all enjoyed the hot tub. The staff we spoke to were also very polite and friendly. The property was well equipped, an ideal layout for everyone including the dogs and young children. The games room was great, even though it was shared we didn't see many people and it was lovely being in the countryside. The home made cake was a very nice touch and much appreciated. You need to be aware that the property is very remote not the owners fault so it is a very long walk to a local pub or town we didnt do it as too far with young children. Suggestions for improvemenrt are that the hot tub wasn't warm on arrival and the wifi isn't the best if your staying in the building at the bottom of the garden an idea for improvement could be to put some more wi fi extenders in. There were also a few cobwebs around the property. The check in and out times could also be looked at, as it felt like the 4pm check in was quite late especially when your on holiday and you just want to get in and the 9.30am check out could be increased to at least 10am to make it less stressful. Of course its understandable that cleaners need to attend, but when the check in time for other guests is 4pm then that's 6.5 hours to clean. Lastly the hot tub could do with being turned 45 degrees so that the back of the hot tub is facing the cottage, to allow you to see the lovely views from the mountains. Currently when the cover is off, this blocks your view. Again this is only a suggestion. Overall, we would recommend the property but sadly we wouldnt stay again due to the remoteness. However, we really enjoyed our stay and would like to thank the staff for their friendliness. Thanks for helping us to have a great time.
Joanne
Amazing farmhouse and very beautiful. A great place for families to get together. The hot tub was a big hit especially with the minus degree temperatures outside
The Old Farmhouse was a superb place to stay. The standard of cleanliness when we arrived and the facilities were excellent. We appreciated the daily cleaning and topping up of the hot tub. We have only praise for the comfort , location and facilities. It was the perfect holiday stay for a party of 10 aged from 2 to 71 plus one dog.
Great house for a large party, especially the Donkey Shed providing a haven for the oldies! Big enclosed garden safe for both children and dogs. Hot tub was fantastic even in the hot weather. Very clean, very comfortable we would highly recommend.
We had a fabulous stay and loved the cottage, very comfortable and well equipped. We would have liked some more serving dishes plates and a couple of big saucepans but as this had been previously mentioned we brought our own. Gorgeous peaceful location with lovely views, though one bedroom looked over a carpark and what seemed like a storage yard. The cabin in the garden was lovely as was the excellent hot tub. Would definitely recommend for a get together we had great fun
Oliver
We had a fantastic stay and have already booked for next year! !! Very comfortable and well looked after, our party aged between 1 and 97!! all had a great time! It would be nice to have some garden games available to use for next time. Just some bats and balls, badminton etc. also sone more tea towels and a larger pan wok. But all in all it was great and we cant wait to come back.
Christine
Great rural location which is so peaceful with very little light pollution. Any issues that might arise dealt very quickly by owner and manager of the accommodation.
Yvonne
Well equipped & comfortable cottage. Clean, but not spotless given the extended Covid cleaning hours. Dining room had an unusual smell, appreciate its an old building and can smell mouldy, we didnt use the dining room because of it. Hot tub is lovely and checked daily . The garden is beautiful and perfect for little ones. There is a builders yard next door which although wasnt intrusive noise wise, it was very unsightly and not mentioned in the cottage information. The large refuge bins were overfilled, meaning rubbish was left on the floor beside it, attracting lots of wasps and flies. The information regarding recycling was unclear. There should be more bin space for the amount of cottages on site. That said we had a very relaxing few days. I probably wouldnt rebook this cottage, mainly because of bedroom layout with toddlers, but it does have a charm, and I can see how other people revisit.
Kelvin
The property was as described, which was spacious, clean and well appointed. The lady in charge was helpful and always available if any problems. The general maintenance was a little lacking, light bulbs not replaced,a bedroom door not closing properly, shower rail broken.
On your original site you stated that the four poster room had an ensuite shower room which made 5 bathroomshower rooms. When we arrived, we could not find a shower room in the four poster room? On speaking to the owner we were told that this room did not have an ensuite? One of the main reasons for booking the farmhouse was the bedroombathroom configurations for our family. I am sure I have a print out of the original front page of your site showing that the four poster room has an ensuite? You have since amended the info, I suspect after a phone call or email from the farmhouse owner who was very kind? We did enjoy our week, after not seeing family for over a year, but it was blighted by this. The donkey shed was unusable because of a broken bed so we couldn't really use the shower room as it's at the bottom of the garden, leaving one bathroom and 2 ensuites. Will we book with you again?...not sure?
Edward
Great property, helpful staff, enjoyable week
Fabulous space for family group of different generations. Very clean and well kept. Staff helpful and friendly. Would recommend.
Adrian
In our party of ten we had four children between the ages of 4 and 10. The very large garden provided the opportunity for them to explore their imagination with hide and seek, kickabouts, making camps and generally running around letting off steam.
The Old Farmhouse was a great location for our family group ranging from 75 to 22 months. The outside space was excellent and safe for the children to play. The interior was also spacious . Plenty of storage and 3 fridges in the kitchen. Barbecue was excellent as well. The hot tub was a great hit! The location is quite isolated but not far from Craven Arms for shops. Lovely having the alpacas opposite and were enjoyed by all, in spite of the rain! A great week enjoyed by everyone. The cake and bottle of wine appreciated by the adults.
Philip
It delivered everything we hoped for and more. There were a couple of door latches that were missing but this just added to the old world charm. We had an age range from 7 months to 70 years and all were easily catered for.
Beverley
It was a great place for a family to get together for a 60th birthday
Amazing property, stunning location, we all had an amazing experience and would come back .
Jacqui
The Old Farmhouse is Wonderful. Everything you need to make your holiday special, plenty of seating in the large living room, underfloor heating is not for me but the rest of the group loved it. Lovely comfy beds and clean bedding. Hot Tub was great and a large lawn to play games on, we had mixed weather but it didn't stop us getting out there and enjoying ourselves. Thank You
Stopped here for a family weekend away would highly recommend the Old Farmhouse. Huge garden and lounge areas for all the family to relax including the private hot tub. Would definitely stop here again!
Georgia
The house is beautiful, it had everything we needed and was lovely and clean. It was great to be able to bring our dogs and loved the garden. The hot tub was a real bonus we made good use of that!
Elizabeth
The cottage exceeded expectations!
Rebecca
House was beautiful and clean, lots of space for us all to spread out. Would highly recommend this house even for the welcome cake alone.
We were celebrating Golden Wedding Anniversay with family, The cottage was so delightful, it was very well equipped, on arrival we were greeted with a beautiful cake and wine. Tea, coffee, sugar, and cleaning materials were plentiful, the staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. The hot tub was a great hit with all of us, it was one of the nicest holiday weeks we've had. Would love to return
Yvonne
Very friendly welcome and prompt attention when we had a problem.
Denise
Our holiday with our children and grandchildren was wonderful. The lovely welcome with the large cake we enjoyed eating all week and bottle of wine was really appreciated. The living room opening out onto a really lovely garden was great, especially for the family and grandchildren to enjoy. The facilities in the kitchen, meant big family meals could be cooked. Would really recommend this cottage .
