Old Peak Reviews

Thank you for letting us stay in your beautiful home, we really enjoyed it and the hot tub was fantastic.
Andrea
The property is in a lovely location and is very tastefully decorated. It is well equipped and has everything you need. Some great walks from the property and was nice being help way between Whitby and Scarborough. I notice from previous comments in the guest book that there were batteries missing from the TV remote the back was missing so we bought some cellotape and popped it over but small things like this should have been addressed. It would be useful to have instructions for the heating as we were trying to turn it down but it was still showing on the thermostat at 21 degrees which was way too hot for us. Also, instructions for which day the bins needed to be put out would be helpful. We relied on watching for the neighbours to put their bins out but the recycling bin was already full when we arrived so we assume it had not been put out the week before. Again, a lovely property and we would definitely stay there again. Thank you
Stacey
This was a last minute find and what a find it was! Absolutely stunning home extremely comfortable definitely home from home decor so beautiful, so much space! Kids loved it it's definitely a golden find! The view was breathtaking, shops abouts 15 mins drive away, supermarkets, petrol stations, takeaways! Hot tub what a bonus! Nobody wanted to leave if I'm going to be picky at the cons the floor boards and the marks from tiny hands everywhere and attention to detail, light bulbs gone, back of remote snapped the heating being on timers
Been twice now and thoroughly enjoyed both times. Very relaxing. Lovely walks with dog straight from door. Spectacular views. Nice that owners have rectified bathroom fixtures from last break, they were hanging loose but all feel sturdy now and look great too. A few more cups would be nice and some cheap sparkling wine glass flutes would be a nice addition. This time used the hot tub and was a very nice experience. What a beautiful holiday let it is and at this time of year reasonably priced. Hopefully we will be back. Jill, Vicky & Milo

Old Peak was a great home from home which provided us all of the practical features needed to enjoy life away from your day to day setup. There were a few snags that could be resolved to help improve the experience and elevate the property, but these are minor points and certainly nothing to prevent an enjoyable stay. We had the unfortunate timing of the house next door being refurbished and severe roadworks out front.but this encouraged us to get out and enjoy the Yorkshire coast in glorious sunshine, all week long. Its a fantastic location and an ideal base to explore the coast from. I would class the property and the facilities as averagetogood, they were clean, tidy and well presented.but need refining to achieve a premium experience.
Very clean and comfortable cottage. Welcome pack on arrival was a lovely gesture. The hot tub was great after days out.
Lovely house. Nicely furnished. One massive downside is floors upstairs. Unfortunately they are just too creaky! Otherwise a lovely stay.
William
We loved our stay at this holiday cottage. It was so homely, clean and well provisioned. The welcome basket was a lovely touch too. The hot tub was spacious and easy to use. Beds comfy so got a good night's sleep. Kitchen has all the basics you need, including stuff you wouldn't expect toasty maker and slow cooker!. Floor boards are hilariously creaky but doesn't impact your stay unless you are trying to play hide and seek!. Highly recommended. And in a great, quiet area too. Lovely walks from the cottage and right in the middle from Whitby and Scarborough so it's a perfect location.
We had a great time at the cottage, had all the necessities we needed, location is beautiful with just 20 mins to scarbourgh or whitby. Dog friendly and very modern cottage. Floorboards are a bit creeky when moving around upstairs but other wise a great place to stay for families wanting a quiet location.
Rachel
Great cottage can highly recommend. Location is great for travel and walks. Very clean and comfortable. Hot tub was great for chilling after a walk and was clean.
We had a lovely holiday at old peak cottage it everything we wanted and would highly recommend the view from the bedroom window is wonderful and would love to return in the future. Ian Sam Josh Megan Lando and dog Leah

Loved staying at the property and can't really fault it. Aside from the creaky flooring which wasn't an issue for us personally, the only slight negative I can think of was the lack of a toilet brush really.
A very clean, modern and beautifully furnished holiday home. Located a short drive from Scarborough, or Whitby, you can plan plenty of fun activities to do around you. We stayed here for two nights, and honestly wished we had booked longer. The home housed two toddlers and two couples 6 of us in total and was the perfect size. The hot tub was clean, spacious and definitely a big hit amongst us all. We will be back for sure. Thank you.
A Lovely welcoming cottage. With everything you need for a relaxing stay. Cannot fault the accommodation or location. Perfect for walks with the dog. Cant wait to visit again. Looking already for 2024. Unable to write in the guest book as we didnt have a pen.
Natalie
This property is amazing. Absolutely perfect for a relaxing getaway. There are numerous walks around Ravenscar and it's a very short drive to Scarborough, Whitby and Goathland etc. After a long day walking you can relax in the hot tub. The house was very clean and has everything you need for a short stay. The only thing is you only get one dishwasher tablet, binbag and laundry detergent so I would recommend you bring some yourself. There's also a draft from the window in the master bedroom so we both went home with the sniffles but the cottage is amazing and we definitely will be staying again. There's enough room for your dog and they provide a bed, toy and some treats. The garden is enclosed and is well kept and neat. There was no room left in the recycle bin so unfortunately we had to put our recycling in the main bin but I'm sure if you brought your own binbags then the housekeeper cleaner would be able to sort. I've recommended to friends and family and they've already booked! Fantastic stay thank you
What a find! The property was extremely clean. Lots of extra touches. Surrounded by lovely walks and areas to visit.
Beautiful property. Warm and comfortable. Had the best relaxing week. Great walks from the front door. Just a few maintenance bits need seeing to with bathroom fixtures hanging loose. We were worried they would fall off with use. Very well equipped home. Had friends staying on Saturday plenty of room. Had very enjoyable evening. Owners left a very nice welcome pack of goodies. Fantastic location and views. We definitely would like to go back next year. Absolutely loved it one of best properties weve stayed at. Thank you so much.
Stacey
Excellent cottage in amazing location. Having a hot tub was great and little touches like dog bedbowls made this a great stay. Would come back. Only reason for 4 stars is the floorboards are really creaky and this might annoy some people.
We really enjoyed our stay however felt the property was lacking some essentials that could have really enhanced the quality I. E Only 1 tea towel provided Only 1 bin bag Only 1 dishwasher tablet Few toilet rolls No kitchen roll No olive oilcooking oil No foil With a remote location like this and no shop, the kitchen should really be better equipped with basic essential items. Also on arrival the thermostat was set at 12 degrees, so we arrived to a very cold property rather than a warm and inviting one that we would expect. For the money paid, I would expect the above aspects to be met.
Elaine
The property is very clean and well equipped in a beautiful location. Lots to see and do. The only reason I didnt give 5 stars is the floor boards upstairs are really creaky and the property needs somewhere to dry wet towels and clothes. A clothes airer or towel rail. This would not stop us stopping there again as it's a beautifully decorated, well equipped property.
Phillip
Fantastic base for long walks on the Cleveland way.
Nicola
Lovely cottage, well presented with everything you need away from home. Great location with plenty of places to visit nearby. Nice added touches with the welcome pack and goody bag for the dog. Hot tub was amazing after a long day out walking. Only thing I would recommend is a long handled sweeping brush for the laminate flooring downstairs. The floor boards upstairs also creak a lot! Didnt spoil our stay though and wed love to return.
Amanda
Great property & incredible location. The cottage was so clean, nicely decorated & lots of nice appliances to make family life easier. The location is amazing beautiful views & walks in the area & close to many attractions. The hot tub was fabulous made the holiday that much more relaxing. The only thing that was missing was a bottle opener, apart from that it was the perfect holiday & loved the considerations for our dog providing a bed, bowls & treats.
Trevor
Fantastic house, everything you need was supplied and more. a welcome pack and even a doggy welcome pack, would recommend this property to everybody. Also thanks to Jonny for his help. really great holiday, thanks again. Trevor
Peaceful! Wonderful! Ive never felt so relaxed. !!! Ravenscar is an area Ive not visited in the 20 years Ive been holidaying in Yorkshire such a wonderful area beautiful scenery I will certainly come back and recommend a weeks stay!! So much to do and such wonderful walks.
We had a wonderful stay at Old Peak, the property is immaculate and the views across Robin Hoods bay are stunning. The property catches the sun all day long and the hot tub is a nice treat after walking along the Cleveland Way. Short drive to WhitbyScarborough and plenty of country pubs along the way.
Michelle
A really lovely cottage with everything you need for a home from home holiday. Spotlessly clean with really comfortable beds. The view was beautiful and lovely but hilly walks in a gorgeous part of the country.
Top notch property with everything you will need , very clean and comfortable , the hot tub was brilliant after doing a lot of walking most days , would recommend and what a lovely sea view .
Russell
Amazing place in a lovely quiet location. Decor is superb and we would definitely recommend this property to others.
Stacey
Wow Old Peak is beautiful! Not only are the views amazing but the house itself is so looked after. Would highly recommend anyone to book this, we stayed here for bank holiday weekend, 4 adults, 2 children and it was perfect! We are already looking to book again
From stepping inside this beautiful holiday home we were wowed. It has been renovated to a high standard & very thoughtfully done. I go away often & have stayed in some beautiful cottagesholiday homes & this one is at the top of the list. I will definitely be re booking. I brought my parents & it's their first holiday in about 40 years, they had an amazing time here at Old Peak. The added bonus was the amazing views too.

The Grainary Wildlife Farm - YO25 3HS
about 3 Miles
Located in Harwood Dale Village, North Yorkshire we think this attraction makes a superb family day out and couples will also enjoy the nature walks in the area.  There are 6 nature walks in total surrounding the farm so walkers and lovers of the outdoors will be in their element. Some of our favourite walks include the Spring Flowers, Pond and Village walk which takes around 35 minutes, and the Meadow and Trees walk which takes one hour.
Scarborough Sea Life and Marine Sanctuary - YO12 6RP
about 7 Miles
If you are enjoying a lodge break in the Yorkshire Moors and Coast then a day trip to the Scarborough Sea Life and Marine Sanctuary highly recommended. This centre is one of the regions most popular attractions and is educational as well as fun. Visitors will enjoy a journey beneath the waves, meeting many strange, beautiful and fascinating creatures of the deep. As well as mighty sharks and beautiful rays guests can get up close to some more common creatures including star fish and can also meet the otters, seals and penguins at feeding time. The site also has children's play area and picnic tables as well as a restaurant and souvenir shop. Family tickets cost £46.80 but the Tourist Information Centres in Scarborough, Whitby or Filey often offer fantastic discounts.
Sea Life Marine Sanctuary - YO12 6RP
about 7 Miles
Located in the Scalby Mills area of Scarborough this makes a fun family day out for those who are interested in marine life. The fantastic ocean tank is well worth seeing - it's been transformed into a Turtle Reef and you can see an amazing array of colourful reef fish and coral. You may also catch a glimpse of the tropical sharks and turtles. Offering good value for money this is a day out with a difference and an all weather attraction.
Peasholm Park - YO12 6QQ
about 8 Miles
This attraction is ideal for sunny days as the beautiful park is ideal for wandering out and taking in the scenery.  You can hire boats including rowing boats and canoes to enjoy the views from the water.  The pedalos with the dragon heads are always a popular choice too. Look out for special events including the Battle of Peasholm Park Naval Battle which has been described as a "must see".  You can also take a ride on the North Bay Railway which will delight children.
Betton Farm Visitor Centre - TF9 3PS
about 9 Miles
Betton Farm Visitor Centre is the ideal attraction close to the North Yorkshire coastal town of Scarborough. This animal farm has all the cute farm animals you would expect to see and will appeal to younger children especially.  A great place to both play and learn we think the Betton Farm Visitor centre is great value for money.  Check out their website for the latest opening times and admission costs.  Some of the highlights of the day might include meeting Sofie the Shetland Pony and Henry the goat, as well as the pot bellied pigs called Porky and Hammy.
Flamingo Land - YO60 7EW
about 18 Miles
Situated in Malton in North Yorkshire this has to be one of our favourite family days out.  It's a theme park and zoo all in one stretching over a massive 400 acres. With thrilling rides for the very daring like Cliff Hanger, Corkscrew and Kumali, there are also more gentle rides for the little ones such as Frog Hopper and Helitoys.  Family fun attractions include the 4D cinema, the lost river ride and the Little Monsters Den of Mischief. Check out their website for seasonal events which take place throughout the year and you can also gain more information about the zoo.  Flamingo Land is a resort as well as a theme park so you can also book accommodation there.
Castle Howard - YO60 7DA
about 25 Miles
Castle Howard is one of the regions most beautiful and historic landmarks and is located in 1,000 acres of parkland with breathtaking gardens to explore. As well as exploring the castle visitors can enjoy attractios including the unique Land Train - the best way to see the entire park. There is also a large lake offering boat trips during the summer months. In high season the site is very popular with families and offers organised activities for children including tours, talks, crafting and animal encounters. The site also has a Nature Trail which is fun for the whole family and an Adventure Playground where children can run off some energy.
Yorkshire Lavender - YO60 6PB
about 27 Miles
Yorkshire Lavender is an amazing award winning attraction offering breathtaking panoramic views of York, a Café, Plant Nursery and Lavender Gardens. The 60 acre site is set in an area of outstanding natural beauty and is an excellent choice for a day trip.
