Cartmel Lodge Reviews

We had a lovely week at Cartmel Lodge. Its very comfortable, spacious, warm and tranquil. A lovely retreat to return to at the end of the day. Access was easy and Gemma answered our queries very quickly. The hot tub was amazing after a day exploring the lakes. I would strongly recommend to the owners as others have done to add hooks to the back of the doors in the bathrooms as there is nowhere at all to hang wet towels. Also, a mirror is needed in the twin room for hair drying purposes also been mentioned previously. These are minor things that did not lessen the enjoyment of our week. We would recommend and hope to return.
Great lodge but having to arrive at 4pm or after then no welcome pack ie coffee tea milk when you pay over a thousand pounds a week is a bit off. No logs wood for the fire nothing. Also should state need a touch as very dark if coming back from the village as you are walking on the main country roads Hottub great massive lodge very quiet very clean and comfortable beds
Location was great. Lodge was a lovely size and well equipped . Disappointed that there was a disgusting smell in the twin bedroom , which was overbearing meaning we slept on the couches .The owners were informed of the smell and the fact we had to sleep on the couches. The carpet was cleaned and the smell remained. We were offered some money back as an apology which we are still to receive 6 days later .This issue spoilt our break .
Just had a really good week in Cartmel Lodge. The hot tub was first class. With a few minor adjustments, it would have been a great week. These are Leak on outside tap reported. Loose deck plank by jacuzzi, worn ledge reported. Bedroom tv, once working, signal kept dropping out not reported. Main tv, followed instructions, never did get it working on live tv. Had to use itv x and iPlayer reported. New plugs in both bathrooms. They wouldnt seat properly. Water drained out. The above are not drips, because we really did have a good week. Yours Harry The following would have been really helpful. Hooks in bedroom for dressing gowns. Rails in bathroom to hang towels. Rail to help access to the bath.

Beautiful lodge in a peaceful location, had everything we needed, thank you for sharing with us
Kelvin
The lodge and all its facilities was impeccable

We had a lovely time at Cartmel lodge. The lodge is situated beautifully, surrounded by trees and bushes. It's so quiet and you can enjoy watching the squirrels jumping between trees whilst relaxing in the hot tub. Inside the lodge is big and open and feels very homely, the kitchen has all the utensils you need and a great big fridge freezer too. The central heating is great also and warns the place up in no time! Ensuite shower was brilliant although the bath in the family room is quite small. I marked the lodge down on a few things. When arriving after a long drive and as it was cold we would have liked to use the log burner straight away but we couldn't as there were no logs left for us. There was no information as to where you get the logs so we had to travel out to find some from a supermarket. I thought this was a little poor. Also as we visited during autum the wooden steps and decking area was extremely slippy l and led to a family member slipping down the entrance steps and hurting themselves, luckily nothing too serious but when I messaged the owner I had no reply. The steps could do with some anti slip strips placing on them. The same goes for the decking to the rear, I slipped and one of the decking planks shifted next to the hot tub causing me to land on my knees. Again could be easily rectified. All in all a great week away and we would be happy to return.
Wonderful stay. Such a cosy lovely base in which we were very happy to have a few rainy days in. We would love to visit again.
Gillian
Great lodge, very well insulated so super cosy and warm. Really comfortable and we enjoyed the hot tub at the end of each day. Great location to get out and about in the southern Lake District and we loved Cartmel.
We had an amazing week. Lodge was beautiful and clean. Hot tub maintained evety day. Location was so peaceful and relaxing. Carnt wait to go back
Fantastic lodge and would highly recommend
Fantastic stay at Cartmel Lodge, its soooo spacious and cozy! It has everything and more that you could possibly need, perfect location just a short walk from Cartmel which has pubs, Michelin star restaurants and the Courtyard which was soooo lovely wine, beer, cheese and pizza what more could you want?! Beds are comfy, hot tub lovely touch, bath and walk in shower in en suite! My little girl didnt want to leave our holiday house and wants to stay here forever! Thankyou so much for a lovely stay x
We had a great stay at this property. A quiet lodge with private hot tub at the back. Well kept grounds. Not far from Cartmel which had pubs and cafes. Easy to access. We were also very lucky with some warm weather!
I cannot say how poor the maintenance was on this holiday further more your explanation. That we should have complained at the time to watch a army of cleaner come in and carry out a del clean so stressful we left after three days totally unexceptable and a civil sue will becoming if nothing is done
Christopher
Possible canopy over hot tub, so can be used in all weather.

Great lodge on a great site Lodges are nicely spaced out so not looked over as ... Great lodge on a great site Lodges are nicely spaced out so not looked over as on some of the larger more commercial sites Very well kept park loved our stay

First of all we had a good stay but we experienced a few things. the cottage was probably cleaned a week before, cobwebs en little dusty. We really missed a good coatrack , we had a lot of rain and our wet coats we had to put them over the chairs. Also hooks for clothes in de rooms and bathroom could be easy for us. The vacuumcleaner itself had a lot of doghair from other people. Price quality was not wat we expected
Richard
Feed back was sent by royal mail to skyes on the 13th of october 2022 no acknowledgement or reply has been received to date Very disappointed.
Fabulous lodge everything you needed was provided great location for seeing ... Fabulous lodge everything you needed was provided great location for seeing different places and an extra bonus was the hot tub to relax in after a day of sight seeing would highly recommend
Lodge was in perfect location and in near driving distance to everything we wanted to see. Hot tub was an amazing addition after a long day of walking and you had everything you needed in the lodge and the welcome packs were a lovely little gesture. Enclosed decking area so our dog could be outside with us too was a bonus as other lodges on the park were open. We saw lots of wildlife in the evenings from the lodge and overall it was superb. We will definitely be returning!
Elaine
Absolutely fantastic place. Its a beautiful lodge in a peaceful village but half hr to Windermere & Kendal. Just 10 mins from grange over sands. The hot tub was amazing also. Beds were comfortable. It had everything we needed. Couldnt fault it at all
Cheryl
We absolutely loved our 7 night winter break at Cartmel Lodge. The lodge is lovely and very spacious and has everything you need. It was great to have the wood burning stove and a hot tub. A relaxing break had by us all including our little dog. Thank you.
A lovely lodge! Really enjoyed our stay. Great location and facilities. Would definitely stay here again.
Really lovely lodge with all the facilities you need, great location too. We all had a great holiday including the dog!!
Nicole
We absolutely loved our stay here, the lodge was spotless and so cosy!
Was really disappointed as soon as a walked into the lodge the floor throughout the lodge was thick of dirt and dog hair and for the price we paid for the week I was very disappointed. . the lodge needs a lot of TLC. The bbq was filthy. The on suite toilet leaked the blinds were broken.. the WiFi didnt work at all.. the best part was the hot tub and was checked every morning.. overall my kids had a great week which is all that matters think the owners need to have a word with the cleaners..
Jacqui
Accommodation was tired and WiFi was reported but not fixed throughout stay.
Bethany
We had an absolutely lovely stay at the lodge it was much bigger than expected on arrival and had everything we needed the only thing we thought it needed was salt and pepper provided in the kitchen but this is the most tiny detail, we cant complain! The hot tub was fab and all furniture really comfy, felt just like home! It was spotless too so that was great. Wifi was a bit patchy but it did work more often than not, seemed to work better with the door open? It was the perfect base for some gorgeous walks a short drive away in the lakes!
THE ROOM AROUND THE LODGE. IT WAS QUITE PRIVATE
Lovely Lodge, Nice site, Well kept grounds, Recommended.
A Query was quickly sorted by the owners who came across as being a lovely helpful couple thankyou Gemma, On site Stewart was also very helpful. to nit pick we did have trouble trying to get the dishwasher to start but with a bit of patience it did its job. Would we go again, Yes if we wanted that area but we do like to go to different areas
The lodge is fantastic in all ways. Quiet location, very big, clean, facilities are superb, hot tub, log fire, and even a bbq if you want to use it. No hesitation in booking again at a later date. Thank you.
Another fantastic week at Cartmel Lodge. Our third stay in this wonderful lodge. It is well equipped with everything you would need. The hot tub checked every day by the park warden. The owner is very helpful and responds quickly. Close enough for a lovely walk into village for nice food from the cavendish arms and cartmel wine snug. Was a shame to see Kings Arms and Royal Oak closed down this time. Can't wait to come back again next year.
Sharon
Just back from a week at Cartmel and could have stayed longer . Accommodation spacious and clean and had everything you needed , beds extremely comfortable hot tub checked every day , we noticed we had a wasps nest outside near hot tub on arrival so called the owner and he got it sorted next morning lots to do with children in surrounding areas i.e steam train ride, boat trips ,aquarium , car museum zoo and much more also shopping in Kendal . Had a great time thank you
Patricia
The lodge is in need of some TLC. Examples include damaged bathroom sink, dishwasher and hot tub lid holder. The DVD buzzed annoyingly. Some of the kitchen equipment is in a poor state, particularly the pans. We found it bizarre that there was a washing machine but no airer. Towels were small and thin. There were no hot tub towels or dressing gowns. We wondered whether the owner has ever lived in the lodge. For example there were no hooks to hang towels and no electricity point near a mirror so dryingcurling hair was very difficult. Also the information pack was poor with no information on local facilities, recommendations for dining and walks etc. The visitor book was full and had not been changed since last year. All of this seems a great shame as the lodge is a good size, secluded and in a nice setting. A small amount of effort could make it really nice.
Pamela
Holiday home was dirty on arrival. Floor was filthy with mud and dog hair from previous guests. Brushed floor myself then asked cleaning staff to return, they hoovered floor but did not mop. Normally I would not be bothered by this but due to current global pandemic and having to mop lodge floors myself I didn't feel this was acceptable. This is no complaint to owner of lodge, he is under the impression that more cleaning is being undertaken at present as stated to me on the phone when he informed me about key collection and probably paying extra and unfortunately this is just not the case.
We had a lovely relaxing break. Great to be able to chill out in the hot tub at the end of each day. Very comfortable lodge with everything you need and the nearby village of Cartmel is charming.
We stopped incartmel lodge. It was beautiful, clean and very spacious. Watching the wildlife walk by deer just yards away from us was a great experience. If you want to get away from it all and completely relax this Is the place to go

This is an amazing Cumbria attraction well known locally as well as nationally for how close you can get to the animals.  Described as the most interactive animal park in Europe it's well worth a visit if you are staying in the area.  Open from April to end October some of the highlights are the tigers, penguins, bears, hippos and rhinos.  At 2pm during certain seasons it's feeding time so don't forget to plan your day around this so you can watch the animals enjoying their feed.  Look out for seasonal events such as Halloween Zoo Boo (free entry for kids in fancy dress) and The Magic of Christmas.
