Heatherbank Reviews

Fantastic property in a fantastic location, would definitely go back
What a wonderful place to stay
Great property. Driveway is challenging but manageable, house is spotlessly clean, four bedrooms, all double beds. Hot tub perfect, a few walls close to the house. Theres only one pub in the village which is ok, plenty of other eateries in nearby Helensburgh and Dumbarton. All round its a perfect property.
Beautiful home and the best facilities ! We cant wait to be back soon!
Audrey
We had a great time and would go back to the same property.
Isabella
This is a lovely cottage, had everything we needed for a very enjoyable stay. Would have no doubt in recommending this to friends
We had an excellent stay over the long weekend. The property is lovely, with really thoughtful touches like plenty of towels per guest, quality hairdryers and the bonus air fryer was also appreciated. The layout is perfect, with bedrooms away from the action for those preferring an early night, convivial seating and lots of lighting options, it provided a great place to stay. The outdoor seating area and Hot Tub are also excellent, with stunning views. We took a short trip to the Anchor Inn for a lovely lunch both days too, where the food is great and the staff friendly. Thanks again to Dougie for being a great host. Cottage has a great layout, parking for 4 cars just make sure to stick to the clearly marked gravel areas. Will 100 be back.
Cathrine
Beautiful cottage, comfortable and spacious. All mod cons, and Dougie was the perfect host, he came to the property everyday we were there, to check on us. Will definitely be back next time if we are coming to Scotland.

Would go back beautiful place gorgeous scenery
We had a great stay at Heatherbank. The hot tub was a definite plus. Dougie and his daughter were there to help out if needed. All three couples have decided to go back at a later date with different groups of friends.

Would definitely recommend. Great base to start exploring this part of Scotland. Good rail links from Helensburgh. Hot tub a bonus after a long day exploring.

Heatherbank is a lovely property and immaculately clean. Firstly the inside good size living area with internet tv which includes Netflix and Prime. The kitchen area is well equipped with a large fridge freezer, hob & oven, toaster kettle, dishwasher, washing machine, microwave and air fryer and plenty of cups, plates etc. there was also basic supplies of oil, salt, pepper, kitchen towels, tinfoil etc. Bedrooms were all of a good size as were the shower rooms. Beds were very comfortable and plenty of towels supplied. Outside was a large seating area with gas fire pit on the table. On upper area which has lovely views, was a large hot tub newly installed the day before we arrived beside which was a further table and chairs, just below this area is a large stone built BBQ. The owner Dougie is very friendly and attentive and took time to explain how everything worked. He is doing a copious amount of work in the garden which doesnt infringe on present guests and when finished will included a large decked area further up the garden and even a golf practise area, would love to come back and see the finished product ! Had no negatives with this property and even the short rough track is perfectly accessible if driven slowly. If walking to the village it takes approx 1215min and there is a good taxi service if you prefer. Had a lovely meal in The Anchor hotel and delicious carry out from the Chinese which sadly is closing end of September. Would definitely recommend this cottage .

Property on initial assessment was very good but as the week progressed small things added up to spoil the assessment. Property sleeps 8 but only a 2 seater and 3 seater sofa in the lounge area. No sky tv as advertised and tv reception poor non existent. Bar takes up too much space. Kitchen facilities lacking decent pansfrying pan, sharp knives, oven dishes etc. Hot tub smelt after 5 days so was unused after this. Views amazing and with a little more attention to detail in the property would receive 5 stars every time.
The lodge was spotless and had everything we needed for our girls weekend away. Rooms, bathrooms were clean and spacious. After reading some other reviews about the drive up to the lodge we were a bit concerned, but tbh it is nothing to worry about, its like going up any other steep hill
Sandra
We had a great week at Heatherbank, helped by the lovely weather. Property was lovely. Clean, plenty of space and well maintained. Kitchen was well kitted out with plenty of cups, glasses, plates etc. Beds were comfy and bathrooms were very clean also. Dougie was available by phone if any issues arose. Only problem we had, which is why I gave 4 stars, was the track up to the house. It was steep and very uneven. My children, who did the driving, were scared they would damage their cars. If driving a 4x4 it wouldn't be a problem though.
Amazing property which the description or pictures dont do justice at all. Driveway isnt for the nervous driver. The singular thing i have to find fault with is the bridge on the driveway needing repair but the timber had been delivered and was ready to go. House was immaculate and extremely well equiped.
Amazing stay. Owner was brilliant

Heatherbank is a lovely property in a very peaceful location. Well equipped, clean and plenty of space for the whole family.
Isabel
Property was gorgeous. Had everything you could ask for. Hot tub was amazing. Will definitely be back
Jacqueline
This was a girls trip for a birthday celebration and the cottage was perfect. The pictures actually didnt do it justice. The views are amazing and the cottage has everything you need. We had some issues with the electrics tripping and we couldnt get the lights outside on. This impacted on the hot tub use as you had to navigate decked stairs in the dark. Certainly not for the infirm. The local pub was about a 15 minute walk and the food was good. We will be back for sure and the assistance prior to arriving from the owner was excellent.
Patricia
Had a lovely time for a birthday celebration with my family. The house was well equipped and the hot tub was a welcome bonus. We only had 2 nights and with entry 4pm and departure 10amalthough Dougie the owner said there was no rush to leave. It wasn't long enough! Dougie was extremely helpful with keys etc. Would definitely recommend.
We have had a brilliant holiday based at Heatherbank. It was far enough out of the busyness of normal life but close enough to access things we needed. The setting of the house is quite deceptive when you drive through the housing estate, but when you go up that short lane it feels like the middle of the countryside. However, that lane is quite tricky to drive up and we found ourselves taking a deep breath every time we crossed the bridge and climbed the corner in the car. Once up there, the house itself is perfect. Our party consisted of two families of four 8 people in total. The spaciousness of the property and the 3 bathrooms all meant that we never felt crowded. Everything was clean, tidy and in good working condition and the kitchen was pretty well stocked. The decor was all in good taste. The hot tub was an extra bonus and we enjoyed sitting in it in the evenings looking up at the stars after a busy day out and about enjoying the beautiful scenery around. All topped off by a very helpful and friendly host. We are keeping this house as a favourite.
A great place to stay, warm clean and everything you need is there. Hot tub after a days walking was great to relax in. Nearby Helensbrough had some nice places to eat in and shops to replenish our supplies.
Owner came to check everything was OK a few hours after arrival and to run through using the appliances facilities which was very helpful. Property was very spacious, the images don't do it justice. Views were fantastic, very quiet and peaceful. The track up is a bit daunting the first time but like anything once you've got it mastered it becomes second nature. Exterior improvements are currently in progress to the rear garden so not all the exterior lighting was working but this in no way impacted on the stay. Have already recommended to family members and would definitely stay there again.
Good facilities and helpful owner. Steep driveway needed some practice to negotiate.
House was really lovely and the owner was really helpful, but unfortunately the hot tub wasnt cleaned and was a bit murky. The access track is really small with no passing places and was unfortunately being dug up for installation of a new water main which felt like being on a construction site. Left early mainly due to illness, but also noise no hot tub.
Leeanne
Overall our stay was amazing, just what we were looking for. If there was anything to recommend it would be an arrangement with recycling and rubbish collection. It was overflowing by the time we left as we were in directly after other guests. Also the parking situation with the neighbour should be advised, the neighbour came to the door saying we were parking in a used area. Apart from that, AMAZING
Yvonne
Lovely cottage. Perfect for 4 couples as we had everything we needed. The only disappointment was the weather.
Kristiina
I visited this beautiful place with 5 of my friends for a weekend getaway for my 25th birthday, and I must say, it did not disappoint. The house was immaculate, spacious, comfortable, and oh so warm in the middle of January. The living room was incredibly comfortable, with a good working TV and Netflix! The surrounding area was a beautiful place to walk about in, with Loch Long and Loch Lomond a short drive away. But now onto the main attraction the hot tub. Oh the hot tub was a dream come true. The lights leading up it were beautiful. We must have sat in there for many hours each day without a care in the world despite it being the middle of January!. And when I had any questions or potential issues, I just sent over a message to Mr Bloomfield and he came over within hours to fix it! The whole experience was amazing, and went well beyond any expectations I might've had. Truly, one of the best weekends I've had in my life. Thank you
Sophie
Property is done to a high standard with no expense spared, great facilities and a lovely location. Property owner was very friendly and helpful, will definitely return.
Deborah
We stayed at Heatherbank for Christmas 2021 and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The cottage is spotless and has large airy rooms. The property is quite out of the way from the small town in which it is situated but it's only a few minutes in the car or a 15 to 20 minute walk. We got stuck trying to get up the access road on our day of arrival as it was wet and dark at the time and the car was very heavy with supplies but we emptied the car and were able to get up to the house. I would put some hooks for coats in the hallway and some hooks in the bathrooms but all in all it was a home from home and we enjoyed our Christmas dinner in the lovely dining area. Thank you!
Daneka
Heatherbank is a beautiful cottage, I was bit expecting that view from the deck, stunning! !
Road rather difficult. Bathroom small.not fun top marks.
Robert
Lovely cosy and warm cottage Lounge and bedroom are dual aspect so rooms are bright and airy The decking area with the hot tub is large and set to the side of the cottage and is secluded with good views across the hills Parking right at the front door giving easy loading and unloading of the car. We appreciated the friendly welcome from Dougie and the welcome pack ! It's an easy 15 minute walk to the village which has 2 mini markets and a decent pub The Anchor Inn is a friendly place with good pub grub Also recommend the Chinese takeaway in the village There is a local bus service which runs every half hour or so into Helensburgh 20 min journey Note that there is not a freezer in the kitchen although the additional fridge in the outside shed has a freezer compartment. The forest track leading to the cottage has a few potholes and is quite narrow but it's only a few yards and if you drive slowly then should not be a problem
Jeannette
Beautiful clean cottage. Were welcomed by the owner and shown around on where everything is and how it worked. The welcome pack was lovely and to top it Dougie also got us a bottle of champagne along with a balloon as we came there for our honeymoon. Loved everything about the place with the hot tub as an added and welcome extra.
