Chestnut Lodge Reviews

Natasha
The lodge was set in a park next to a pub. The park was very run down. The bbq left outside wasnt usable and rusty. Also outside was the hot tub which was nice albeit run down. Inside comprised of three bedrooms and two bathrooms. The en suite was on the main bedroom. It was a shower room which was full of insects and spiders. It was very very slipRead morepery when wet and no shower mat. I took a bad fall just after having surgery. The lodge wasnt that clean and cutlery dirty. Hide

Sarah
Well equipped, spacious lodge on a quiet site. A perfect base for exploring Dartmoor.
Sarah
What a fabulous lodge! Great value for money. Felt very spacious and high spec. Kitchen fully equipped, much better than mine at home! Hot tub was great, again no expense spared. Was greeted on arrival and was someone on hand if we had any issues (which we didnt). Handy location for both Exeter and Plymouth. Would highly recommend.
Louise
Lovely clean, warm and comfy lodge. Great place to stay and to explore Dartmoor. Would definitely visit again.
Nell
A great getaway to to relax and unwind within the Devonshire countryside. A spacious, cosy cabin with the luxury of a hot tub and views to enjoy!
Kerry
Overall Chestnut Lodge was fine but could have been cleaner - there was a chip on the dining chair, dog hair on the sofa, under the sofa cushions is full of crumbs/glitter etc (the sofa is also losing its firmness), there were spiders in the corridors/dbl bedroom, flies were annoying, the batteries in the fire remote & the left side of the toaster Read moredidnt work. You can hear the traffic from the main road at all times. The kitchen is well equipped. That said its a good location & we would return. Hide
Sharon
Beautiful lodge and location, has everything you need in in the lodge, hot tub was a perfect way to relax after long walks across Meldon, which is a must
Rodney
The heating wasn't working and the towel rails were cold but the weather was mild and we had hot water so it wasn't a problem until it turned colder. We then found that the boiler wasn't working properly and was showing a fault code. I reported it, a plumber was brought it in, he managed a partial fix and we had sufficient warmth for our last full Read moreday. Apart from that, everything was as per the blurb on the website - a comfortable lodge on a lovely site. Hide

A great dog friendly location, lots of walks nearby, many attractions within an hours drive and a well presented and stocked lodge, that was impeccably prepared by the owners and the site cleaners. Very satisfied by our multi generational guests
Karen
Second visit to Chestnut lodge and it was another great visit. The lodge is home from home, everything is catered for. Situated in a lovely part of Devon, Okehampton is a lovely town with plenty of shops for supplies. You do need a car though as I dont think it is on a bus route. The pub next door to the park has recently changed hands and we heard lots of good reports about the food. All in all would highly recommend Chestnut Lodge.
Alan
Wow, what a gem! A very well presented lodge on a small site. We loved the layout and the gated decking which ment our dog could be outside while we enjoyed the hot tub. Out of the site and across the road we're some amazing walks through woods with streams and out onto the moors. The town is 5 mins away with everything you could need and Bude is l ess than a hour for seaside fun! We'd definitely look to go back again.
Peter
Clean and well equipped lodge, in quiet area yet within 5 minutes drive to Okehampton to find all the stores for your daily grocery shopping. Nice & friendly property owners
Stephen
The cottage itself was fine apart from the mattresses. The broken jacuzzi was disappointing as it was broken for almost half the stay.

Lovely lodge well equipped clean and well presented as it was autumn when the only problem we had was leaves in hot tub but not a problem!! Lovely holiday and lady in reception very helpful!!
Andrew
Booking and contact information prior to stay was brilliant. Arrival and checking in to the lodge was easy and helpful. Lodge itself is stunning, spotlessly clean, very comfortable and had everything we couldve needed in utensils and amenities. We were very impressed. There is nothing to complain about, the lodge is just outstanding. Hot tub was a massive success too, and added bonus to enjoy!! Youd happily live there!!
Samantha
Lodge was beautiful and had everything you needed. Hot tub was checked regularly and host was very friendly. Location was a little remote for our liking and you needed to drive long way to do anything. If you like private and quiet this is definitely the place for you. Only issue we had was dog cut his pads on the sharp stones that are used for the roads/driveways around the park.
Michelle
Lodge had all required
Adrian
The lodge was very clean and comfortable. Hot tub an added luxury for our holiday and The park was litter free and well managed.
peter

We stayed here with our two dogs in March and I honestly couldnt recommend the lodge enough! The location is perfect for walking and those with dogs, there is so many places to walk round while your there! The lodge was really clean and tidy, provided with some many items you dont normally get when you go on holiday. The hot tub was amazing, the vi ews were incredible. I dont have a negative about the place at all! I would definitely go again!
Alison
We absolutely loved this lodge the living space and storage was ample, the hot tub was brilliant, the kitchen was well stocked and everthing was thought of even down to having a washing machine and dishwasher. I highly recommend and will no doubt be booking again especially as the price is so very reasonable.
Lisa
Lovely lodge. Peaceful site even being close to a main road could not hear the traffic. Lodge was a lovely size, clean and warm. Hot tub also a good size and at side of lodge so very private and not overlooked.
