Hope House Stables Reviews

Good break away with family and a nice little village The place was amazing and my partner loved the hot tub
Richard
An all round amazing stay at Hope House Stables. The property is very modern and spacious. The outdoor area is beautiful with the hot tub an added bonus. The jam and clotted cream scones, fresh flowers and dog treats were a lovely touch upon arrival. The Mitre Inn is less than a 2minute walk away. We ate there twice during the week. They were so friendly and welcoming. The food was great! We explored lots of Devon from our base in Witheridge. Highlights were Ilfracombe, Woolacombe, Valley of the Rocks, Saunton Sands, Lynton, Lynmouth, Watersmeet and Sidmouth. Thank you for an amazing stay. We would thoroughly recommend.

We had a lovely stay at Hope House Stables. Everything was just perfect and we will certainly be recommending to friends and family. The accommodation was first class. We have stayed in a lot of cottages around the Uk and this was by far the best. The little extras scones and flowers were a lovely touch. What an amazing place you have and perfect for both north and south Devon coasts. We will definitely come back. Fin and Kev

The property is stunning alot of love has gone into it. The location i have to be honest we thought it was in the middle of no where and then when getting there was a bit like it looks nothing like the images we were taken the the other square with the sat nav. The views from the back are stunning and some amazing sunrises were seen. The house was hot and difficult to sleep even with windows open. The shower 1 of the best ive ever used. Everything we needed was available, the dogs loved it the freedom to walk about. We had a lovely time thank you
Pamela
This property is amazing. Set in the lovely village of Witheridge this converted stable is an ideal place for exploring both North and south Devon. The accommodation has everything you could possibly want with the added addition of a fabulous hot tub. It is dog friendly. On arrival we found scones with jam and cream on the table they were delicious. We had a great holiday would thoroughly recommend it to anyone looking for a place to stay.
Jennie
An absolutely memorable stay in an amazing property Everything had been catered for to the extent it seemed like home from home. There were fresh flowers , milk in the fridge and a plate of homemade scones with jam and clotted cream. Everywhere was spotless and the hot tub was a welcome luxury after the rounds of golf we played. Our dog even had her own towels for muddy paws etc and and doggy treats in a welcome bag Would definitely recommend this property for a relaxing break
Joseph
We really enjoyed our stay, everything was there that was needed, it was spotlessly clean and had everything you could need in the kitchen. We really appreciated the lovely scones, homemade jam and cream all of which made us feel very welcome. The beds were very comfortable. We booked the local chef to com Anita and she was fantastic the food was lovely and great value for money. The Ev charger was easily acceptable The local pub was great and very hospitable. Overall a thoroughly enjoyable holiday.

It is a lovely cottage to stay in, spacious, comfy and many nice touches. A delightful position with lovely outside space to use and enjoy at different times of the day. The hot tub was a good as hoped. The village is also a nice place to wander round and all were friendly and welcoming in the local pub and shops. There is a fish and chips van in the village on a Friday evening, we wish we had known that as we stopped to buy some on our journey! Thank you for such a lovely place, we will return.
Michael
This property was absolutely beautiful and perfect in every way for a peaceful, relaxing holiday. The building has been very tastefully decorated and you can see that a lot of thought has gone into its completion. It really felt like a home from home. The owners, Mike and Jane who live adjacent to the property were lovely and have thought of literally everything to ensure you have a comfortable and enjoyable stay. The outside garden area provided more than ample seating and eating facilities and the bonus of a hot tub. If you need to switch off this is the place to be.
Owners friendly flexible and accommodating. Cottage was Immaculate, spacious and very beautiful. The village itself is wonderful and has everything you need for a peaceful holiday. Ive already recommended this cottage to my friends and family.
A beautiful cosy cottage completed to a high standard. Lots of thoughtful touches which were very much appreciated. An excellent base to discover Devon from and the hosts were very friendly and welcoming. A hidden gem which we would love to return to. Dawn and Al, Worcestershire

From the time we arrived to find a welcome present of scones, clotted cream, and jam, we couldnt have had a better stay. The accommodation was spotless, everything we wanted was available, and the hot tub was used every day. The village has enough facilities, including the vans for Thai and pizza that provided tasty food at very reasonable prices. We didnt want to come home. Highly recommended.
If you choose to stay at Hope House Stables you will not be disappointed. An absolute fabulous home, beautiful, calm interior deco and soft furnishings. Top class comfortable bed linen ect. Family board games aplenty. On arrival we 6 young and older female relatives were stunned by the sight of a mountain of fresh home made scones, some delicious jam and a tub of fine clotted cream! and some milk. Thank you Jane! Unfortunately the weather wasn't brilliant but that didn't stop us getting in the fabulous hot tub many times on our four day stay. Garden birds were many, bobbing in and out of the lovely, good sized garden and patio. Our host Jane was lovely as was her daughter, very helpful. The Mitre Inn, literally next door was very accommodating and we had some fun with the locals and visitors. The village has a shop and post office open until at least 19.00. Plus the 2 Moors cafe, a lovely little village, very nice local people. We didn't leave the village but with Barnstaple and Tiverton a short distance away, the area has a lot to offer. If you decide to visit Tiverton, ignore sat nav instructions and avoid the turn off to Rackenford, it has many large pot holes. We would definitely revisit Hope House if the opportunity arises. A huge thank you to our hosts.
We stayed for 6 nights in these beautiful converted stables. We stayed with our 16month baby and we had a great time. The stables were immaculate, warm and comfortable. The hot tub with its views over the fields was a real retreat after a long day on our feet. There was a toygames cupboard and a childrens book shelf which our baby loved. We enjoyed the delicious homemade scones and jam, thank you. Beds were comfortable and there was always plenty of hot water. We ate at The Mitre pub which is 2minutes walk and found the food to be very good with extremely friendly staff. The village has 2 shops of which we used both. They are well stocked. There are two playgrounds, one of which we enjoyed. We had a lovely holiday at the stables and would definitely recommend this to family and friends. We look forward to staying again.
Judith

Andrew
Hope House Stables did not disappoint, on arrival we were met with delicious homemade scones, heating on and hot tub ready. Hope House is stunning, sympathetically restored stables in a beautiful location overlooking countryside, perfect place to relax, we stayed for 3 nights but wish wed booked longer. We also hired Anita Clare Field private Chef for Saturday night, her food was amazing!!!! We decided on a menu together, it was a real treat and something well definitely do again when we return. On the Sunday we had Sunday lunch at the Mitre Inn, gorgeous food and lovely staff. Weekend was perfect xx

Excellent cottage, we couldn't fault it. Mike, Jane and family all very friendly, welcoming, kind and helpful. From delicious scones, jam and cream, fresh flowers and dog treats for our young labrador, well equipped kitchen, barbecue and hot tub they have thought of everything! The cottage was immaculate and very cosy. Perfect location for us, visiting family in Swimbridge and friends in Dulverton. Wonderful dog walks. Excellent local pub in The Mitre. We all had a fantastic stay at Hope House Stables. It is beautifully decorated and the accommodation has everything you need for a super holiday. We enjoyed relaxing in the garden which had a good selection of comfy furniture to use and had some great evenings looking at the stars with the brilliantly clear skies . It was lovely to meet both Jane and Mike who were the most caring of hosts throughout our stay .
Ginetta
We had the most beautiful stay at Hope House Stables, the cottage is wonderful, extremely comfortable in a perfect peaceful location, the owners are lovely and made us feel so welcome, the fresh scones were gorgeous and a wonderful welcome gift along with the fresh flowers, such a wonderful touch that makes all the difference. We would definitely recommend anyone to stay here and we will be returning
Angela
The cottage is absolutely fantastic, you be mad to stay anywhere else in the area May we say, the pictures does not do the cottage justice. The cottage is so much more than the pictures. We would love to come back and stay again
Property located in Central Devon. Quiet, rural area with a 40min drive to either North or south coasts. A perfect location for nighttime star gazing. Pub close by with two convenience stores. Weather wasn't brilliant but that's England for you! Slightly disappointed with a stored caravan being used by people close by disrupting our privacy plus the gardener working with noisy petrol tools from an early hour forcing us to change our plans and go out for the day. Apart from the latter two incidents, the property was well presented, comfortable and the hot tub was a welcome feature.
We had an absolutely wonderful week at Hope House Stables. Mike, Jane and family are excellent hosts who were always happy to chat and answer the many questions we had about the local area, places to go etc. The house is beautiful and we felt really comfortable and at home. Delicious scones for a cream tea were waiting for us as we arrived, plus treats for our dog. The hot tub was lovely and beds sofas very very comfortable! Within walking distance of the house is a lovely pub, two well stocked shops and there are local food vans that visit in the week. A lovely peaceful location, with easy access to North and South Devon. A visit to Appledore for crabbing, as recommended by the hosts, was the best day of our holiday. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend the property and would definitely go back. Thank you!
We have had a lovely stay at Hope House Stables. It is a good base for visiting both north and south Devon but if you want to be nearer either then it might be better to book a closer accommodation. The hot tub was lovely after a day of walking visiting other places and the garden is so peaceful and relaxing. The hosts are excellent and the fresh scones on arrival were delicious. The fish and chips from the take away van on the Friday were delicious. Highly Recommend, thank you.
Hope House Stables was just perfect. The Cottage was beautiful and tastefully furnished. The owners have thought of everything. We enjoyed sitting in the sun in the lovely garden watching the birds, we had a very chilled and relaxed week in beautiful surroundings . Hot tub was fab too. A good base to visit North and South Devon. We would highly recommend The Stables and we will return in the future.
We had a lovely stay here. The cottage is even better than that it appears in the photos! A great central base to visit places across Devon. The stable is beautifully furnished with plenty of space and everything we could have possibly needed. We'd love to stay again!
Very comfortable. Lovely friendly welcome. Great place to have a family holiday lots of space, great facilities. Perfect place for rest and relaxation.
I think this is the best cottage we have ever stayed in. Immaculately presented in an idyllic location. Beautifully decorated and equipped with everything you could possibly need. Super comfy beds and lounge furniture and plenty of outside space with relaxing chairs and dining table. The hot tub was perfect for enjoying the gorgeous views and Mike and Jane were excellent hosts. We would definitely stay here again. Thank you so much.
Danielle
Beautiful setting & decorated to a high standard with use being made of original stable items which adds to the overall experience.
Such a fabulous cottage in a beautiful location. Spotlessly clean, beautifully decorated, very comfortable and with all the amenities you would ever need including treats for the dogs. The hosts were super helpful and friendly and they should be very proud of what they are offering their guests. Witheridge is a lovely village with plenty of amenities including a friendly pub, cafe and local shops all just a few minutes walk away. Great location too for exploring the area. We definitely recommend staying here. Thank you!
Danielle
Our stay at Hope House was absolutely flawless. A beautifully decorated, clean, & homely feel with all the accessories you would need. Peaceful views over the countryside to be had from your cosy hot tub. The flowers, homemade scones and doggie treats were all very much appreciated. Lovely walks nearby, local produce from the farm nearby and a very yummy Sunday roast at the Mitre Inn pub 2 minutes walk away. Definitely recommend a stay here you wont be disappointed.
We had a fantastic family holiday at Hope house. Mike and Jane provided everything we needed and more, including lovely little extras such as Scones, flowers and even Easter eggs for the children. Hope house is by far the best holiday home we have ever stayed in, as it was immaculately clean and all of the appliances and decor made it feel very luxurious and homely. The hot tub was amazing and the surrounding area was great too. A lovely little village, very central to all attractions across Devon. We would love to return next year. I would definitely recommend to anyone thinking of booking.
Richard
A wonderful property, with everything you could need for a restful break, the hot tub is the icing on the cake. Great hosts too. Centrally placed in Devon the holiday home offers the ability to easily reach both the North and South coasts, plus access to Dartmoor and Exmoor. We will certainly keep Witheridge in mind for a future break.
Really lovely comfortable and clean house. Friendly owners. Beds were very comfortable. Hot tub amazing. Extra touches were the scones jam and cream, yummy. We would definitely return.

Michael and Anna are superb hosts and the little details like fresh flowers, scones, jam and cream and treats for the dog show they have really gone the extra mile to make your stay memorable. View from the hot tub is the best especially the stars at night. Do yourselves a favour, book a stay here and forget the world for a few days.
Hope House Stables is a very beautiful place to stay. Comfortable, peaceful and great views from a sunny private back garden that has a fabulous generous sized hot tub. Great for star gazing too as a dark sky area. Lots of places to visit and walks from the door. Dog enjoyed her holiday too. Hosts very friendly people. Thanks for a lovely stay.
