The Sheep Pen Reviews

Joanne
The cottage is perfect for a cosy & relaxing stay, with everything youd need - Full stocked kitchen, wifi & the most comfortable bed! The hot tub was a huge bonus & dog friendly garden. We cant wait to return.
Marie
A beautiful cottage in a very peaceful location. Hot tub was really lovely. Very good standard of cleanliness and some nice little touches and attention to detail. We can live in a rural area so were very at home and happy driving on the narrow country lanes that provide access to the cottage.
Christine
Couldnt have wished for a nicer spot, plenty of room for the hound and the hot tub was spot on
Kate
The Sheep Pen is in a wonderful quiet location, not far from pubs, coast and towns. Perfect for dogs with it's own dog walking area on the owner's land which our dogs thoroughly enjoyed. The accommodation was very clean and well appointed. We particularly liked how it was decorated, the equipment in the kitchen was the best we've experienced. A supRead moreer king bed, not a silly double! Amazing. The hot tub was clean and well maintained. Owners Ian and Annie were welcoming, helpful and friendly. Hide

The 5 hour trip that turned into a 9 hour trip was a complete nightmare, the owner Ian on hearing this offered us his bottle of wine to help our stress, very much appreciated saved us having to drive any more. The cottage was very welcoming as was the little welcome hamper, the bed was very comfortable. Was very relaxing and great being away from t he hustle and bustle even the dog chilled out and enjoyed his walks in the owners fields. Would definitely recommend!
David
The cottage is located in a lovely area, despite being on a working farm it was super quiet. I did come across the farmers dog while walking my own dog and he was very friendly. The hot tub was a bonus. My wife was ill when we was there and the owner was very helpful with getting her help. It was very clean and had decent WiFi. If your looking to g et away from it all for a week or 2 this is perfect.
Paul
Lovely welcome from Ian. Well equipped and clean cottage. Very peaceful and quiet with the owners fields and orchard to walk around direct from the property. Hot tub was fab. As previous reviews, you do need a car to get anywhere but that wasnt a problem to us. The only negative thing was that the washing machine was disgustingly dirty and the soap dispenser drawer couldnt be opened properly because of the doors in the way. To be honest I wouldnt even wash the dogs bedding in it.
Louise
Lovely cottage, well equipped with everything needed. We found we did not have phone signal at the cottage, might just be our provider but we were driving blind on the odd occasion as the sat nav couldnt pick up a signal. Wi-Fi though at the cottage excellent so planned routes in doors before setting off just to be sure we were heading in the right direction. Lovely little garden which was a bit of a sun trap during the day.
Clare
A fabulously relaxing week away. This was our second visit and it was every bit as good as the first. Such a peaceful setting. Would highly recommend if you want a complete getaway from it all but with interesting places to visit within an hours drive if you want it. We will be returning for a third visit.
Nicky
Very well presented and comfortable cottage with lovely features such as a log burner and hot tub, set in the beautiful Devon countryside. Very peaceful. Enclosed court yard for our dog was perfect. Would highly recommend.
Jemma
Beautiful cottage, warm welcome from the owners and the perosnal touch of a welcome basket was well recieved. Everything you need for a relaxing break away. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and recommend a visit.
James
Lovely cottage in a rural location. Easy to find. Had everything we needed. Was lovely and warm. Lovely welcome pack by owners, who were friendly and helpful.
Paul
Just come back from a lovely relaxed week at the sheep pen, its a great place to either sit back and relax or drive out and visit nearby towns and villages with the added bonus of coming back to chill out in the hot tub. Our 2 dogs loved the back field to have a run around in. Highly recommend the pen for a place to get away and relax.
Tess
Had a fabulous relaxed week at the sheep pen, its in a very quiet location and was very clean with a well equipped kitchen, lovely super king bed. Our dog was very happy in the owners orchard and field, and loved Northam Burrows. Would highly recommend the Exeter Inn in Chittlehamhult for Sunday Lunch (youll need to book in advance).
Tom
My partner and I visited for a weekend and found it delightful. It was immaculate throughout and some lovely thought out touches. The bed was SO comfy, so much so we couldnt leave without requesting where they had purchased their bed from! We took our two dogs with us so was important the place was dog friendly- which it was! The garden was enclose d and lots of walks right on our doorstep - we didnt even need to use the leads. A lovely field and orchard walk on site. Owners v. helpful!
Elizabeth
Wonderful cottage, great for utter peace and quiet. FYIs - walking on nearby roads can be hazardous - no paths - and out of season you need to book to eat in most local places, which are a drive away. So take essentials for eating/drinking (although supermarket 20mins away in car. Kitchen well equipped, even a freezer and dishwasher :) Bedroom and bathroom roomy, clean and incredibly well-done. Slept like logs!!!!
Philip
Wonderful as all ways we just love it and we will be back again soon. P & S
Kirsty

Mandy

Helen

Neil
The cottage was very nice, when we arrived we had big smiles all around, the cottage had everything you needed and the hot tub was a bonus Annie was very welcoming and happy to help
Kirsty
We picked a cracker! A beautifully located property in the peaceful Devon countryside. The property is well equipped with everything you need for a stay. With the orchard/fields it is perfect for anyone with dogs too. We also took a walk through the nearby woods. The nearest shop is in the village which is a 5 minute car ride away. We would definit ely book again. We slept well every night and felt thoroughly relaxed after our stay.
Sarah
Very comfortable and beautifully decorated cottage. Very peaceful and the garden is a lovely sun trap. Hot tub is such a bonus. The kitchen is small but had everything we needed. Very rural with most places 15-20 miles away but worth it for the tranquility! The owners were very helpful when we had car trouble and recommended a brilliant garage.
Philip
cottage is impeccable equipped with everything you need very comfortable very clean super hot tub and so peaceful the best place to get away from it all. the owners are wonderful you hardly see them but if you need them they are there and nothing is too much trouble.
Lauren
We stayed here for our honeymoon as we didnt fancy going abroad with the uncertainty with Covid and we couldnt have picked somewhere better for us. It was quite even though you are on a working farm. You need a car as you are fairly far out the way. On arrival there was lovely welcome basket of eggs, Easter biscuits, apple juice and the owners popp ed round to show us the hot tub and even dropped us a bottle of bubbly for our honeymoon! We cant wait to revisit!
Samantha
We recently stayed in here with our two dogs, and absolutely loved it! The owners were friendly, the cottage was clean and private. The area itself is beautiful with lots of places to go visit. The only reservation we had was that other reviews had stated it was on a main road, and this worried me with having two dogs.. but this really isn't the ca se. Its off a country road, down a no through road, into the farm property and turn to where your cottage is. It couldn't be safer. Will be returning!
Sarah
Fantastic cottage! Had everything and more! Cannot fault anything! Highly recommend! Will definitely be back!!
Shirley
We had an amazing time staying in The Sheep Pen. Everything you could possibly need is there & the hot tub is an added bonus. We would definitely recommend this lovely place to others. Thank you so much
Kim
Had the loveliest weekend staying in the sheep pen, as soon as we arrived we new it was going to be a relaxing and stress free weekend which we both needed. The sheep pen is beautiful, cosy and homely. We really didnt want to leave, so will definitely be returning!
Claire
What an amazing place to stay. We were due to arrive at a challenging time - the February storms had well and truly kicked in. But the owners kept us in the loop and ensured that we got there safely/had all the amenities we needed. Its a great location for exploring the area - we went out every day (despite the weather) and walked or cycled. The ac commodation itself was perfect - all the items we needed; WiFi fine, plenty of hot water, easy to manage wood burner, lush hot tub etc Perfect!
Jason
Excellent, highly recommended.
Jim
Absolutely outstanding. Great location so quiet and restful. The Sheeppen itself is an exceptionally well equipped accommodation with a wood burner and huge bed. We took a working Labrador with us and the open fields were ideal to give home some light exercise. A day out around north/central Devon walking the dog Devon Cream tea. (cream on first) T hen a peaceful evening hot tub first then just melt in to the relaxation.
Sue
Lovely , comfortable, well equipped cottage . Romantic peaceful stay , would highly recommend,.
Philip
This was our second visit to the cottage and although it was November it was wonderful, we just love it and will be back again soon. The cottage has everything you need and is so peaceful a superb hot tub an absolute joy if you just want to get away from it all.
