Yr Hen Llaethdy Reviews

A wonderful, peaceful stay at a very private and spacious cottage. Above and beyond with attention to detail, we felt as if we were staying on a retreat and thoroughly enjoyed relaxing in the hot tub each evening, after walking the adventurous coastal paths. Special thanks to Joy and Rod for a warm and welcoming stay, treats on arrival and safe space for our dog Grace.
This is our second visit we first visited back in 2014 very soon after Yr Hen Llaethdy started and obviously back then everything was prestine and new. 10 years on everything is exactly as I remember. It goes to show the effort the owners put in to running this place everything was exceptional as expected and the personal touches left for us are the best we have experienced through many UK holidays. Many thanks we will be back again!
We arrived on Monday 16th September 2024 and departed on Saturday 21st. We struggled to find the location using our Sat Nav, however what 3 words is a free app to download onto your phone and will take you straight there. Rod & Joy the owners live next door and are lovely friendly people. This location is central to most areas. The accommodation is very comfortable and has everything you could possibly need including a hot tub. The Sykes pictures do not do this accommodation any justice. The under floor heating works well from thermostats in each room.
A very well appointed cottage with everything and more that one needed. Friendly, helpful owners, lovely welcome pack. Brilliant hot tub.
What a beautiful cottage a pleasure to stay here. Plenty of places within 25 minutes to visit by car. Peaceful and private. The hot tub was loved by all and it was nice that the space outside was totally secure for our small dog.
Exceptional cottage every thing you could ever need was catered for plus a bag ... Exceptional cottage every thing you could ever need was catered for plus a bag full of goodies and items placed in the fridge for arrival also the fresh flowers on the kitchen table were a lovely touch

A perfect Welsh getaway. The cottage is cozy and wellmaintained, with a fully equipped kitchen and comfortable bedrooms. The living area is spacious, with comfortable seating and a lovely fireplace. The highlight was the hot tub, perfect for relaxing after a day of exploring. The location is ideal, close to several beaches, villages, and historic sites. It was a peaceful escape, offering tranquility and a touch of luxury. Highly recommended!

Superb accommodation, would highly recommend.
Michael
Absolutely Perfect! ! From the warm welcome by the owners to the welcome pack for the dogs, everything about this place is idyllic. The cottage is very tastefully decorated throughout with everything you could possibly need provided. The enclosed courtyard with the hot tub was great for relaxing. Will definitely be back to this cottage!
Jennifer
We had a fantastic time, extremely welcoming and homely. Will definitely return in the future for longer.
Tracey
I have never experienced such comfort and welcome. The cottage covers every aspect you would want whilst away. There was so much thought and care gone into the design of the property and the products available within. There was a welcome bag with some lovely gifts, leaflets for places to go and a xx luxury spa bath and hot tub. Will definitely be going back soon.
Andrew
2nd time here and still best place we have stayed in. If you want peace, tranquility in excellent accommodation then this is the place. Lovely setting on a farm. Big enclosed courtyard with a big hot tub which was well used! We can not fault this place and we will be back. Lovely hosts as well. Andy and Jeanette. Cornwall
Daniel
The cottage exceeded our expectations, there was everything you could need and more, it felt like a home from home. Lovely touch of a welcome pack and we made great use of the hot tub during our stay. Would definitely stay again and for longer if we come back to the area.
Louise
Superb. The property is beautifully and thoughtfully decorated, inside and out, comfortable, clean, warm under floor heating, had everything you could need and the hot tub was so so welcome, comfy and larger than average. You can tell the hosts really care about you having a good experience and not just in it for business. One of the nicer places Ive stayed and would be very fortunate to return. Pack wellies and flip flops!
Great accommodation. The second time we had been here and was great to be back. Loved everything about the place spotless, loads of appliances in kitchen, comfy beds, great shower, safe outdoor space for the dog and the luxury of a hot tub ideal for just relaxing and reading a book. Also enjoyed all the places around including PizzaTipi in Cardigan, the Ship Inn in Tresaith great view of the sea and further afield St Davids and Narbeth. Just a perfectly great relaxing week thank you
Absolutely lovely place, spotlessly clean would definitely stay here again
Great place , visited in November , so didn't get to see much of the farm , despite being a working farm it was very quiet , and with a private courtyard , covered outdoor seating and hot tub , perfect for the Welsh weather. Inside is something else , a fully equipped kitchen, large lounge area and two generous bedrooms, everything was clean and comfortable .We were greeted on arrival and shown round then left to ourselves , perfect for us . Our hosts were inconspicuous , but there when we needed them , Thanks for a great stay.
We had an absolutely great stay with our two sausage dogs. The house was immaculately clean and tidy, and had everything we needed for a weeks stay. The house is beautifully decorated and cow themed! The welcome pack was great and included some lovely Welsh food and snacks, and even included a dog pack. We will definitely be recommending this to our friends and family, we had a 1010 stay here! Genuinely couldnt fault anything.
Graham
Could not recommend enough! Everything was just perfect for us. From being on the farm.. we loved interacting with the cows and the sheepdogs Jess & Meg to the spacious cottage itself. The rooms were beautifully decorated and the hot tub was a huge hit with our 10 year old and us! Joy and Rod were the most perfect hosts, they made us feel extremely comfortable and relaxed for our entire time with them. The Welcome pack was extremely thoughtful, even our dog had gifts to welcome her to the cottage. And don't worry if you forget things like shampoo or teabags, because the supplies that Joy and Rod have put in place to cater for such scenarios are amazing! 100 recommend. We will definitely be returning!
Beautiful place, lovely hosts. The peace we we searching for. Such a wonderful area to explore. Thank you!
Lesley
The cottage was lovely home from home. Everything you could want and more .host were lovely people. And the welcome pack had so much in it even one for the dogs.we loved the hot tub and waking to the sound's of the cows in the morning. Would we go back most definitely.
Nothing seems to be too much trouble, visited for the 3rd time to celebrate our wedding anniversary, cottage was decorated to celebrate and an anniversary gift was left for us, absolutely lovely cottage, every kitchen appliance you can think of is provided, will be back in the future.
Heather
Wow! What a find! The cottage is much larger than it appears in the photos, and beautifully presented inside and out and spotlessly clean. We were very lucky with the weather over the bank holiday weekend, we brought our portable bbq with us and had dinner each evening outside in the lovely garden, which the sun didn't appear to leave all day! The hot tub is huge, and was very much enjoyed. The owners have obviously put a lot of thought and love into making the place the perfect spot to chill out and enjoy the surroundings of the beautiful Welsh countryside. There is even a patio heater for chillier evenings if you want to enjoy more time outdoors. We drove out to Poppit sands about 25mins, where our pooch enjoyed exploring the sand dunes, and to Cenarth Falls 12 mins for a riverside and woodland walk, and a little splash about in the shallow waters beside the bridge. Just perfect, we cannot wait to return
Had an amazing time here, the decor was homely and very well presented. The kitchen was more than fully equipped and the facilities were spot on. Joy and Rod really made us feel welcome and left us all to it to enjoy. Would 1000 recommend this place and I already have to family and friends !
Edmond
I stayed here over Christmas with my family and it was a beautiful experience. Joy had decorated the place throughout for Christmas and there was a lovely Christmas hamper full of presents for all of us. Yr Hen Llaethdy was one of the cosiest accommodations we ever stayed. It was clean and spacious. The location is perfect for peace and quiet in the countryside. We all had a fantastic time here and will be coming back. Edmond and Kristine
We had a fantastic time here. Outstanding cottage, immaculate interior, lovely courtyard with hot tub. The hosts are very friendly and helpful. Definitely recommend.
Michael
I would recommend staying here to anybody, especially if you have dogs. Everything has been thought about in order to make your stay as comfortable and as easy as possible. The property was perfectly clean upon arrival, and our host was incredibly friendly, taking the time to show us around and explain everything before leaving us to enjoy our stay. The hot tub provides that luxury experience that everyone wants from a holiday cottage, and the rest of the amenities really made it feel as though you were getting loads of value for money. We will definitely be coming back!
Tracey
This cottage was absolutely stunning. It was lovely and everything was provided. There was a welcome pack on arrival which was such a thoughtful touch and even a welcome pack for our doggy. The cottage was very private with fully enclosed courtyard. Picturesque surroundings and only a relatively short drive to coastal resorts if Aberporth and New Quay.
Antony
Absolutely fantastic stay at this cottage. The cottage was perfect for us as a family and had everything we needed. The cottage was on a working farm and the owners were right next door. They met us on arrival and and talked us through everything. The cottage was absolutely spotless. Location wise it is a 20 minute drive to the nearest beach Aberporth. Other beaches like tresaith, Poppit sands or llangranog are a few minutes further away. Being woken up to the sound of cows in the morning is such fun and our dog loved being on a working farm. The dog wasable to use the fields to go circa walk and to do her business when the cows were not around. What really makes this cottage special are the little touches left by the owners on arrival. I do not have anything negative to say as there really are no negatives. The hot tub rounds things off after a busy day out and about. I really recommend this cottage. Believe me you wont be disappointed.
Pramila
We had a really wonderful time. The current photos of the listing on Sykes really does not do it justice. I expected a working farm to be a little noisy in the mornings but it was so quite and peacefull. Covered hot tub and outdoor seating was fantastic as we did have a fair bit of rain and it made no difference at all. The owners were lovely and even came to rescue me when I got a bit lost. Everything was five star, it couldn't have been better. Many thanks.
Yr Hen Llaethdy Is a delightful, comfortable and well equipped property. We found it spotlessly clean and VERY well appointed, every conceivable needs seems to have been thought of and catered for. The facilities provided were, quite possibly, the best we have every experienced. The hosts were very welcoming and the welcome items were thoughtful and appreciated. The property is well situated as a base for exploration of South West Wales. We explored from Aberystwyth to the Gower peninsula with no problems whatsoever. Everyone we came into contact with were delightful, very friendly and welcoming. We could not recommend Yr Hen Llaethdy more highly.
Fabulous cottage and lovely hosts. Highly recommended.
Stephen
This is by far the most well equipped cottage we have ever been to. The attention to detail is second to none . Joy our lovely hostess went above and beyond to make our stay for my partners 50 th birthday break. We loved the hot tub and everything we needed was provided. We can recommend this cottage to anybody.
Lovely cottage and area 5 star.
Thank you for an absolutely brilliant holiday. We loved everything about this place the welcome, the decor including all the Easter decorations, the layout, the private garden, the hot tub, the welcome pack and the farm. Nothing we would add nothing we would change.Thoroughly recommend and I say that nervous it becomes too busy we cant come back
Christopher
Absolutely fantastic cottage only bettered by the hosts. Rod and Joy went above and beyond to make our stay even more special. The area is stunning and the coastline breathtaking. We leave with precious memories we will treasure forever and cant wait to return. Thank you
Andrew
One of if not the best property we have ever stayed in. It had everything you could ever need and also was in a lovely location on the farm. Lovely hosts and total peace and quiet. Had a lovely welcome pack on our arrival. Will definately go back here. Totally recommend this property. Andy and Jeanette Cornwall
Jessica
Amazing cottage with the best hosts. Couldn't fault it and will definitely return in the future.
Natalie
The pictures for this cottage still don't do it justice! Every detail has been carefully thought out so you have everything you need, even down to books containing all the best coastal walks for the area. It was warm and cozy and beautifully designed an absolute gem! The private courtyard garden area was great with the hot tub! Joy and rod were very friendly and helpful, it was a pleasure to meet them and a pleasure to stay there.
