Berwyn Reviews

Just love this place. This was our 5th stay there.Already booked up for next year. Weather was kind, hot tub is always a plus.

We thought we had until 10am to get out then from 8am three men rolled up in three different cars, we should have been told as we felt we were being muscled out, it was like a work site and marred the rest of our holiday

We had a lovely stay at Berwyn thank you. A very clean, spacious, comfortable cottage. Beds were a good size and we had a great sleep every night. Lovely couch with recliner seats in the living room. Great sized kitchen diner. Outside space is huge. Our children loved the gardens. The hot tub was great too. Thank you for a lovely holiday
Tracey
Lovely property and well maintained garden. The directions are really poor and feel these could be better explained as like many previous occupants we struggled to find it. The cleanliness of the property could be better but it wasnt disgusting, just needed a bit more attention to detail. Small issue with the hot tub was was quickly remedied by the owner. Overall a very peaceful and relaxing stay.

We had a wonderful stay at berwyn,it was so spacious and comfortable, the hot tub was a dream. It was so nice to have home comforts after a day out.

This is our third consecutive stay at this cottage and never had a problem or felt the need to contact the owner. But on this occasion we had no hot water. We are a family of three two adults and an eight year old boy. We had one shower each in the morning. Then went out and cycled the Mawddach on the wettest day of the stay as you can tell we got dirty. Got back expecting a nice warm shower only to find no hot water. Called the owner who was not interested all she could say was had we had excessive showers today and that the heating is on a timer and should be on by now and that she is away and if there is no hot water the next day to call her. I was not happy with her response if you have put the water on a timer and you only get one tank of hot water a day should you not let your guest know this in advance as this has not been the case previously. Luckily my wife's parents live in Harlech and we could go and get a hot shower there which was an inconvenience to us all. Yes the hot water did come back on but we felt from that day we needed to restrict our hot water usage and when you are told that you need a shower before using the hot tub it is very off putting and did affect our enjoyment of this cottage. It would of been nice to of had a follow up courtesy call back but nothing. Also found the cleanliness of the cottage not up to its usual standard it looked like it had just been wiped over rather than cleaned. Cobb webs everywhere. I get this is a country cottage but the cobwebs had been there a while as the spiders were very dead as were the ones in bedside drawers. Bathroom shower did not drain properly but felt it would fall on deaf ears if I reported it. Also on the Friday the maintenance guy just turned up and did not even introduce himself. He came to cut the lawn but we felt we could not use the garden for the two and half hours he was there. It also happened to be the one morning we could of used the garden to its full potential which is one of the reasons we go to this cottage. Is this not a job for change over day especially as he was there just as early on the Saturday to clean the hot tub for the next guests. The TV in the lounge is on its way out with lines running through it, could watch it but once again why report it. Bin in kitchen broken bowl in sink broken all things easily replaced drain outside blocked. Dead hedgehog on the drive on arrival. Don't think the hot tub chemicals were checked or topped up in the middle of our stay as stated in the hot tub instructions. Can't believe the difference between this review and the first that we left in May 2022.
1. There were not two bathrooms as in description, one bathroom and cloakroom. 2. Directions to the property were poor. How about ' entering Talybont from Barmouth, turn right at 40 sign up private road.' 3. Don't expect to have to remove bedding when I have paid a substantial amount of money. 4. Need a new bin in kitchen and some drawers in bedroom. Otherwise lovely property and we enjoyed a very nice holiday.
Electric room heating controls are very fiddly. We could not work out how to operate the kitchen underfloor heating because there was no instruction book and we could not fathom how to operate it without instructions. Did not appreciate the gardener turning up unannounced to cut the lawns in the middle of our stay. He could have introduced himself and asked if was OK. This is a job for changeover day and not when guests are staying.
Was happy with the accommodation no complaints, the property could have been better signed as we drove past twice. But really enjoyed our stay.

This property is a dream place to stay just loved it we will definitely be going back I would buy the property
3rd time now we've stayed here excellent base, everything you need for a comfortable holiday. Hot tub a dream..we will be booking again..
A beautiful bungalow in a stunning location. Very well equipped with a gorgeous hot tub. Very modern interior. Will be looking into returning.

This property is a dream place to stay just loved it we will definitely be going back I would buy the property
Very disappointed to find that there's only one bathroom at 'Berwyn' it's listed as having 2. Two bathrooms was the main reason I chose to book a week at the property. For a holiday let, there's far too much clutter in terms of ornaments etc. Without so many, I'm sure the cleaner would find it easier to get around more quickly. Even so, I have no complaints about cleanliness. The bedrooms would benefit from more shelf space rather than just the tops of bedside tables and suitcaseluggage stands would be ideal so as not to have to use the beds or floor when packingunpacking. On the plus side, the hot tub's a bonus.

Berwyn is an excellent holiday bungalow with good facilities. The beds are very comfortable and the accommodation was spotlessly clean. The kitchen dining area is very contemporary and the outside space is quiet and relaxing. The property had all the facilities you could wish for and we enjoyed our stay in North Wales a place we visit regularly. There are two very minor comments to make on the listings information. The directions on where to turn off the main road to the accommodation could be improved by stating it is adjacent to the change in speed road sign in Talybont and also the home telephone number for the ownercontact in the Sykes listing plus the accommodation information pack is not in use. We did need to contact the owner as unfortunately the TV aerial had a fault following thunderstorms it was rectified during our visit but we found it difficult in the first few days to make contact with the owner. We would recommend this property as somewhere to stay in comfort and enjoy.
Excellent location quiet and very private. We equipped and comfortable. We can thoroughly recommend.
An absolutely fantastic bungalow perfect location near to the beach. . shop and the pub. Its one of the most comfortable places we have ever stayed in.. especially the beds!!The hot tub was to die for especially after a long walk we will definitely want to go back as the area is beautiful.
Stephen
We have just returned from a lovely week at Berwyn , the house is very clean and not lacking in anything, the amenities are spot on with lots of extras that are thrown in The children appreciated the big garden and hot tub, its perfect for privacy . . One of our children is autistic so its perfect for the space and he now knows that Berwyn will always be our our get away place twice a year , we have booked again for another week next easter. The gate at the property needs fixing as only half of it is fixed to the wall , that was the only issue regarding safety for our Dylan. If you are looking for a peaceful spacious and very private property , then dont hesitate in booking Berwyn
Hannah
Very quiet, private relaxing stay. Will definitely visit again.
Lovely place ,well equipped ,comfortable beds ,everything we could have wanted. The Jacuzzi was great .We would not hesitate in recommending this property to anyone .
Nice bungalow, large garden with great hot tub, only 10 minute drive to Barmouth
Caroline
This is a lovely and very quiet property with loads of outside space. The grandchildren enjoyed the hot tub and the opportunity to play noisy outdoor games. Inside, it was clean and well equipped with lots of room for two adults and two children. Well appointed and furnished to a high standard. Less than a ten minute drive from Barmouth. Thank you for the welcome pack the welsh butter on the welsh cakes were delicious!
Phillip
Nice place clean and well equipped we stayed here during the heatwave and was ... Nice place clean and well equipped we stayed here during the heatwave and was surprised to find there was no parasol at the property online photos show a parasol there summary states there is one there but there wasnt this meant we could not enjoy many meals outside
Almost everything about the property is Fantastic, and we were very happy.
Eugene
Absolutely loved it in fact loved it that much booked up for same time next year as soon as we got home. The garden is perfect for our six year old who could just run around and play . The hot tub was great for relaxing after all our days out still didn't do everything we wanted to. Great location can't fault the property. As above will be back thank you what a lovely house everything you need to have a great holiday.
Brenda
Excellent accommodation, everything provided, very comfy beds.
Our second time at Berwyn, looking forward to a third time. Lovely home, great private garden, perfect location. Cant fault anything. Thanks for having us.
Beautiful property in a great location, extremely well equipped, spacious, clean couldn't fault it. Hot tub was a huge plus after a day out.. Everything you could wish for..So much so we rebooked for November whilst we were down there...PERFECT!
Howard
The cottage was spotlessly clean very important these days and extremely comfortable. Talybont is a great base for a holiday with so many attractions within an easy drive. It was really disappointing that there were no trains running and that the bridge in Barmouth was also closed to pedestrians, though this was obviously beyond your control. One minor quibble and it is minor is that there were only five coffee mugs, one of which was chipped, and no beer glasses. Also, nearly all the crockery was gold rimmed and so unsuitable for use in the microwave. These in no way distracted from a really enjoyable week, though.
The directions to get to Berwyn were not easy to follow, as strangely the directions were in feet, which rather over complicated things. On arriving in Talybont it would have been helpful to use the narrow bridge and Tonys as a reference, and use the red tarmac as a guide to turn right.
Daniel
Thoroughly enjoyable holiday at this bungalow!
A fabulous cottage in a great location near to some lovely beaches. The cottage is well appointed and the large flat garden was great for the kids to play in.
Fantastic holiday home. Great facilities, Great location, loved our stay and look forward to going back..
Stephen
The bungalow itself is situated lovely to see the sea. The grounds are stunning along with the inside of the bungalow. Very well maintained to a high standard and you can see that the owners have gone out there way to ensure you can have the best comfort possible along with everything you could think of inside the bungalow, from underfloor heating to all the utilities and high design spec throughout. The owners left us a few us a few welcome gifts which was great touch and was only a call away if for whatever reason we needed them. Absolutely gorgeous place so much so we looked to book again for June but cannot now until October. Will for sure be staying here again. On another note if you like great food from a butcher i would highly recommend going 12 mile down the road to the Spar which the owners own the butchers. They have award winning sausages which are scrumptious.
Patricis
The cottage was immaculate on arrival. Very well equipped with all you need for self catering. The bed was very comfortable and everything works well. The hottub is a very relaxing addition and is sited so it can be used in all weather. There was a lovely welcome pack from the owners and simple instructions on how to use TV s etc. The WiFi signal is also excellent. It's a lovely quiet, private location but close enough to Barmouth and Harlech. We didn't travel far due to covid but felt safe and comfortable at the cottage, difficult times for all of us at the moment so it was good to relax and unwind.
Quiet place on a private road with excellent facilities. Drove past it the first time but as soon as we realised it was right by the 3040 mph road sign depending on which way you come in we found it. Decorated, furnished and equipped to a high standard. Very clean but the additional fogging for the virus did put a slight oily residue on some surfaces in the lounge. These were easily cleaned off and did prove that it had been done.Beds very comfortable and lovely power shower. Kitchen well stocked with crockery, cutlery, tools and picnic glasses suitable for use outside. Washing up liquid, tea towels, tea, coffee and sugar provided which was a lovely touch along with the welcome pack of milk, butter, biscuits and welsh cakes. Hot tub was ready for use as soon as we arrived and was maintained throughout. A very relaxing holiday in a lovely area and weve already booked again. Thanks Diane, see you next year !
We had a fantastic week away in a lovely comfortable cottage. The big garden was great for young children to run about in and the hot tub was a lovely addition on a nighttime . Barmouth is a short drive away along with several other great beaches. Within walking distance of the cottage there is some lovely walks in the woods at the top of the lane, and the pub is only a 2 minute walk. All in all a lovely week even though the weather was a bit rough at times. The only thing that could have improved the cottage and theses are only very minor inconveniences was egg cups and tongs in the kitchen ,and as lovely as all the ornaments were, we had to move them out of the way with a very boisterous 3 yr old about.
Carmen
Had a good time in difficult circumstances with what was going on with the coranvirus The cottage is very nice but there was pottery every where which was very strange to do in a holiday let of it got broke I am sure they would complain. They left notes everywhere saying don't do this and that which I felt was a bit over the top. I understand they want you to look after the property but it was a bit over the top in my opinion. Cottage was nice hot tub lovely.
Richard
Fantastic cottage, very clean and loved all the space. The hot tub was great after a day of walking and was very warm despite the cold weather. Welcome pack was a lovely touch, thank you so much!
