The Apple Shed Reviews

Elisabeth
We loved everything about our stay in the spacious yet cozy Apple Shed. The place was perfect for 6 adults, all having king size beds and en suites, then a social living and kitchen area. The garden was huge, and the hot tub and fire pit were just a perfect addiction. The hosts were great at communicating and responded promptly when we had a slight issue with the drainage in one of the wet rooms. We couldnt have asked for anything more, a very enjoyable stay, thank you Jim and Inna
Christine
We couldn't find any fire blanket or extinguisher. Obviously we didn't need it but all other properties we have stayed in have had 1 or 2 items. If not both. The sofa was far to low for all of us. Some couldn't even get on it . And too big for the size of the room we felt. If there was a 6th person at the table we would of had to push the table back up and I don't think anyone would have got through. There was 3 of which had mobility issues which is why we chose the appleshed because its all ground level floor. But we couldn't get down the steps to the garden. A handrail or two may come in handy. And possibly at the front door. Especially for when it is wet . The 2 wet rooms the whole of the floor was rather wet. But apart from a little issues we had a nice time thank you.
We loved our stay very relaxing for me and my family, will be definitely returning next year in fact I must look at some dates and get it booked. The cottage was lovely only thing I found is coz I had a little dog I couldnt let him run free without putting him on a lead as it was perfect and the owners was lovely to. Juliet
Jim and Inna welcomed us to the apple shed. Washing machine was repaired promptly with no issues. We had a lovely relaxed holiday. This is our 3 rd year in staying and have booked up again for next year.

Very lovely cottage washing machine didn't work TVs were poor reception however ... Very lovely cottage washing machine didn't work TVs were poor reception however the owner did do some of our washing alot of cobwebs and window seals very dirty hot tub was excellent could do with signposted
A wonderful stay at a lovely cottage. Its spacious, clean and well presented. Great to have some kitchen basics like salt, pepper, washing up liquid, soap, tea towels etc. the towels and lines provided were clean and good quality. The hot tub was perfect and enjoyed by us all. We did a click and collect order from the local Tesco, so having a full size fridge freezer was great, especially as the weather was hot and wonderful. We ordered a takeaway one night without any issues, the garden area is a great size and reasonably private. The fire pit was lovely for an evening fire. We were a party of 2 adults, 2 children 17 and 3, and our dogs. We all enjoyed our stay. Thanks we hope to be back next year.
A beautiful area, perfect for our 'girlie weekend', hot tub was perfect and weather was kind. Only problem was cleanliness, kitchen area was a bit sticky, crumbs all in the cutlery holder, oven was very dirty with dried up dripping cheese from shelves, also only 3 wine glasses for a property that sleeps 6, rest of bungalow was covered in cobwebs, and could have done with some homely touches such as hooks on back of bathroom doors. Finally the 'hot' water in the kitchen never got very hot. Having said all that, the owner was straight round when we had a problem locating the key and sent lovely informative text message before we arrived and lovely feedback text after we left.
I had a wonderful stay at Apple Shed. The accommodations were comfortable, and the atmosphere was relaxing. The only suggestion I have is to provide a drying clothes rack in the garden. This addition would greatly enhance the convenience for guests. Overall, a great experience!
Michelle
We absolutely loved our stay and had the most wonderful time. Loved seeing the variety of wildlife we had visit the garden. All room are clean and well presented. We had one little issue which was more Mother Nature then host and that was a stinging nettle right near the hot tub steps so while trying not to slip you also had to watch you did not brush against it. We do have a couple of small suggestions which are only little things like bath matts to place down when exit the shower as it does become very slippery and maybe a hand rail in each bathroom for those like me with mobility issues to hold onto if feeling unsteady. Also maybe a hand rail outside the door leading outside from the bedroom as steps are okay but when I was tired I did struggle a couple of times and friends helped. But omg we loved it so so so much and the peace and quiet is brilliant just what we all needed to recharge our worn out batteries
I would recommend this property and will definitely rebook again. All rooms are a good size with ensuites attached. The property is so peaceful and the beds comfy, you will have a good night's sleep. There is a restaurant bar and entertainment a little way down the road not too far which is lovely, they also do a lovely breakfast. Hot tub is a welcome extra, oh and the owners, whilst they live next to the property, I only seen them on arrival and just briefly before we left, they are there if needed, but leave you to come go as you please. Loved our stay, thank you
Lyndsey
We had a lovely stay. It was large, spacious and comfortable. Thanks to the previous reviews we read we took a long lead so our dog could roam the large garden. We will definitely return someday.
A very nice cottage. Very comfortable and clean. Not that easy to find and some small issues one of the TV controls didnt work and the water dispenser in the fridge leaked but a quiet location which suited us. The nearby Potting Shed is excellent for breakfast.
Hannah
The Apple Shed is a clean and wellmaintained property in a private and quiet area. The owner was friendly and although living next door, did not intrude. The property was light and airy, spacious, and perfect for family or a group of friends. Very relaxing and would definitely go again. Areas for improvement 1 The property is listed as dog friendly but the garden is not fully enclosed and there was also a chicken roaming around. We suggest putting chicken wiredeer wire around the garden so dogs can be free in the garden. In specifically choosing a dog friendly place, we had hoped the dog could play freely outside. One saving grace was finding a private dog walking field called Go Mutts 12 mins drive away which we paid to use and let our dog be free 10 per hour for exclusive use. The chicken was also a bit of torture for our dog as she watched it through the window. 2 There is no signage from the lane for the property. We suggest putting up a small sign so it can be found more easily. The booking form said to call the owner once we were near however, we couldnt get through. We ended up finding the property by mistake.
Felt like home from home. Plenty of room for 6 people and two big dogs, but still feeling cozy. Beds were perfect, had a very comfortable and peaceful night's sleep. Very clean and had everything we needed. Dogs and children loved the garden plenty of room for them to run around and have fun safely. Hot tub was amazing and a very nice touch, loved spending our evenings in there. We saw Jim the owner onces, other then that the owners leave you to it and aren't obstructive in anyway.
Delightfully tranquil holiday home with lovely soft towels and comfortable beds. We stayed during August 2023 and, although only a short walk to the Secret Garden camp caravan site, the area was wonderfully quiet at night leading to a great night's sleep. The owners are on hand to sort out any questions without being obtrusive
The Apple Shed was ideal for us because one of our group is disabled and the property is accessible to anyone with limited mobility. The bedrooms are spacious and the kitchen is well equipped. Inside is dog friendly but we were unable to let our dogs out in the garden in case they roamed because it isnt completely enclosed.
Elizabeth
The Apple Shed was a lovely place to stay. The bedrooms were comfortable and clean as was the loungekitchen area. The kitchen was well equipped with plenty of pots and pans etc. We loved the hot tub and fire pit. Also we enjoyed playing the games which were available in the hall cupboard. It was a very convenient location for visiting places like Ely and Cambridge.
Christopher
The owners were great, the property was lovely. Will do our very best to go back. Big thanks to them for making us so welcome.
From the moment we arrived the owners have been friendly and helpful. The rooms large airy and clean. Showers were clean and lovely. There is a cafe next door at Secret Garden in the Pub. The Apple Shed was central to visiting Peterborough and the beach. As well as Wisbech itself. Cannot wait to return here. Weather was stunning and a 7.30am Jacuzzi dip was awesome.
Lots to enjoy. Found electric gates and TVs irritating . Great place for family holiday.
A well appointed home from home, ideal for three couples. Spa and fir pit nice extras. In a superb location for touring Norfolk and Cambridgeshire. Nearby Secret Garden a mustvisit location. Owners Jim & Inna nearby and most helpful without being obtrusive. Thanks for a great stay.
Aileen
A very good week staying at the Apple Shed. It was very comfortable. The towels were excellent, large and very soft which was so lovely. The owners were very friendly, welcoming and helped to get the main television onto Freeview. The bedroom tvs needed an aerial to watch Freeview which was fine as we didnt use them. The photo of the Apple Shed on Sykes didnt show the close proximity of the owners house as we assumed it was an isolated cottage. Overall I would certainly recommend a holiday there.
Glenda
Owners very friendly and helpful. We had a disabled person in our party, and the accessibility and facilities were perfect for them. Only problem we encountered was the television, we couldn't get it to work. Would definitely use again.
Great short stay and a great location. TVs don't work that well but the broadband was a bonus.
The property was lovely , the only thing that really disappointed us was the hot tub , it was not ready and not heated before we came and it did not work properly, so we were not able to use it .
Lovely property. Owner helpful and friendly. A quiet property with lots of outdoor space for children and dogs.
A comfortable and spacious property with plenty of room for six people. The owners are welcoming and helpful. Each of the three rooms has a comfortable en suite with easily accessible showers. The area is pleasant and peaceful with a pub and small shop within easy walk and other options within 5minute drive. The property has been updated since listing photos were taken, now with a larger sofa and dining table that comfortably seats six. Plenty of parking once you find the place, a sign on the road would definitely aid in locating a real gem of a property. We'll be back!
Denise
This was our second visit to The Apple Shed, it would be nice if the garden was made dog secure, apart from this issue our stay was enjoyable.
Think it needs a little TLC Comfortable and clean Great out door space for all ages
Very large and has got a large garden and jacuzzi . The carpets in the rooms are abit dated . The host was fantastic and flexible . Highly recommended
Really comfortable beds, large garden would benefit being more dog secure and overall a pleasant place to stay. Would benefit by having a mirror in the bedrooms and be near a power point also a spare cupboard in the kitchen. Please note there is no bath .
denise
The only disappointments is that garden could be more dog proof, and as a suggestion a clear sign on the enterance would be a help to locate the property as the lane is very narrow .
