About Old Rectory House

Nestled in the Welsh countryside in the small village of Aberhafesp in Powys, Wales is the Old Rectory House. This decadent holiday home boasts luxurious bedrooms, off-road parking for ten cars, a unique cinema room, swimming pool and expansive garden with a hot tub surrounded by the luscious rolling Welsh fields, making this a wonderful setting for a family gathering in the countryside.

Old Rectory House was designed by Thomas Penson, who was born in Wrexham and studied with architect and bridge builder, Thomas Harrison. During his time as a county surveyor, he remodelled a courtroom and later built eight beautiful churches.

Cross the threshold into the beautifully-presented entrance hall with its grand staircase and head into either of the sitting rooms to unwind on the plush sofas, while the kids entertain themselves in the cinema room. Gather the family around the large dining table and tuck into the home-cooked meal the designated chef of the group prepared in the fully-equipped contemporary kitchen; cheers to your gathering and cherish the memories you have created.

Venture onto the patio and delight in a soothing soak in the hot tub while the sun sets, providing a truly memorable backdrop. Retire to any of the eight bedrooms; the ground floor is completed by a super-king and the first floor houses four super-kings, two kings, and a double with a balcony overlooking the grounds.

All of the upstairs rooms are serviced by sleek en-suite bathrooms and shower rooms, ideal for maintaining privacy. Be sure to get some well-earned rest before another fun-filled day in Wales.

The Old Rectory House lies in a quiet village, perfect for those looking to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life, but is just a short drive from Caersws, home to The Unicorn Bar and Restaurant and The Buck Hotel where you can treat your loved ones to a delicious meal or celebratory drinks. This wonderful holiday home is ideally located for those looking to explore castles, such as Dolforwyn and Mongomery, which are scattered throughout the countryside.

Old Rectory House Reviews

We were a large group of 7 couples who have been holidaying together for about 9 years. This is the best property we have stayed in so far. The communal space was generous enough to allow different interest groups to congregate in different rooms, tho we actually tended to all end up in the huge kitchendiningsitting room where we could enjoy the spectacular views. It was really useful to have all rooms ensuite downstairs bedroom not ensuite but bathroom just next door and away from everyone The house was decorated and furnished to a high standard and was extremely comfortable as well as being spacious. We felt like nothing had been overlooked. Utility room was well equipped and spacious which enabled us to store all our groceries, as we take it in turns to cook we always have a lot of bags! Theres one tall fridgefreezer and one undercounter fridge, we could have done with a bit more fridge space for our group as we have lots of different dietary requirements so people bring their own food. Two ovens were so useful, huge kitchen island made a great buffetself serve station. Need more tea towels! The swimming pool, hot tub and games room were big bonuses and were used a lot. Gardens were also really lovely, we really couldnt fault anything. Stuart, the owner, was so friendly and helpful he actually became one of the group! Nothing was too much trouble for him and he made our stay extra special. We will definitely be back.
Simply outstanding. Everything had been thought of to make sure our stay was as luxurious and comfortable as possible. Spectacular location, highly highly recommended. Five stars plus, we would come back tomorrow
Fantastic place to stay. Has all you would need.

We had a wonderful time at the Old Rectory. Stuart was wonderful at helping us settled in and making sure we had everything we needed. The house is a great spce with something for everyone we were aged 1180 and plenty of space to congregate together or take time out. The only thing to be aware of is that you need a car and to be prepared to travel for days out, though there are plenty of places to visit within an hour of the house.
Selina
Stuart was absolutely amazing. This place is unreal and I cannot recommend enough. We will definitely be going back again, loved every minute of it.

I have just come back from spending a long weekend at the house. We all couldn't have been happier. The house absolutely exceeded what we thought. So much space, views that were absolutely breathtaking. Stuart was on hand to deal with any questions we had. He couldn't do enough for us. We will definitely tell family and friends .

This is a beautiful property for a large group. The host Stuart was so helpful, nothing was too much trouble. The house is set in fabulous surroundings. Everyone in our party commented on how wonderful a time they had for a 3 night stay. We would all definitely visit again. Thank you to Stuart for all your help during our stay. We really appreciate it.

An absolutely amazing property in a fantastic location with wonderful views, could not ask for a better place to stay with family and friends for a break. A wonderful host who met us at the property to show us around and very kindly gave us a show on piano. Thank you Stuart.
Gareth
Wow what a property! We had the most amazing time staying as a family of 15. Every little detail had been thought about and the house was immaculate, we couldn't have asked for anything more. Perfect if you have children with the pool, games room and cinema room. Stuart was a fantastic host and his piano skills are tremendous!! We will definitely be back to stay again.
Joanna
This is an amazing house with everything you could possibly want. Fantastic views and a fabulous location.
Jaspreet
The Old Rectory house exceeded our expectations. From the views, to the gorgeous property to the generous host, everything was just as wed want it to be.
Everything at the house was delightful and so pleasing All the furnishings were stylish and high quality and the beds very comfortable We had so much room and so many facilities to enjoy so the weather was unimportant. We received a great welcome and prompt attention to our additional requests and especially, we did enjoy the impromptu piano concert! Our only suggestions would be that there could be some larger serving dishes cooking pans and dishes were plentiful but as we were cooking for a large group and the house sleeps 16, they would be very useful Altogether it was a privilege to stay in such a lovely house and setting
Stunning location and fantastic amenities. Stuart was a great host.
We had a wonderful few days in this amazing property. The views were beautiful and the area was very peaceful and the facilities at the property were excellent. We loved it so much we hope to return next year and it's ideal for large families or groups of friends as there's plenty of room to spread out. Everything very comfortable and we had a wonderful game of hide and seek in all the various rooms this property has to offer. Can thoroughly recommend it.
Great high quality property with lots of facilities and a friendly owner.
This is just an amazing house with stunning views all along the valley. Having a swimming pool to use with this house is great when you have young children. All the bedrooms with en suites and the whole house is just so spacious when your family come on holiday with you.Stuart is a wonderful host and just makes you feel welcome from the very start of your holiday. We hope to return again for a family holiday again .

Elaine
The house is amazing and had everything and more we could have needed. The standard of decor , fixtures and fittings is very high quality and adds that luxury to a special occasion or celebration. The facilities of the pool, hot tub etc really added to everyones enjoyment of the weekend. Stuart and Hayley were really welcoming and helpful which added to the overall experience. We all had a wonderful stay which we will remember for a long time.

The Old Rectory was an amazing house for a big group of all ages It was by far the best house we have stayed in . There is so much space that we didn't use some of the downstairs rooms The lovely warm pool and hot tub with an incredible view made it the perfect destination to keep everyone happy whatever the weather ! The owner was so helpful and welcoming too when we arrived and just a phone call away if there had been any queries Hope to go back sometime soon
