The Shippon Reviews

Andrew
Lovely cottage in peaceful surroundings. The owners have thought of everything. Ideal location for Chester and Cheshire Oaks. Look forward to returning.
Dennis
It was a beautiful place, in an amazing setting. Just a couple of niggles with it though. The hottub water level needed raising a bit, and also turn the heating up on them. Theyre called HOTTUBS. Mine was like getting in a bath an hr after its run. Could only manage 10 minutes if that at a time. Apart from that, youve done an amazing job with the building work over the years..
Perfect cottage, location great, look forward to going back again would def recommend. All you could need in cottage, owners have thought of everything.
Heather
A fantastic cottage set in a beautiful, peaceful setting, made all the better with a relaxing hottub. The cottage was immaculately clean with lovely thick towel, bathrobes and slippers. A thoughtful welcome pack incudong a bottle of prosecco, which was lovely after a long journey. A couple of small issues were dealt with very quickly and efficiently, thank you Matt. Ideal location for visiting Chester, Liverpool and the Zoo. I would highly recommend this cottage, we had a wonderful time.
Stephanie
Superb property and very well run by the owners
The Shippon was a fabulous property. It was decorated and finished to the highest of standards and well equipped with everything you would need. We felt very comfortable and at home. The hot tub was an added bonus and was so relaxing after busy days exploring Chester! I wish we could have booked for longer! It was very lovely of the owners to leave us a bottle of Prosecco and other goodies. The only minor thing I would say is that it could really benefit for a new sofa, the base underneath the cushions looked like it had been repaired with boards and the base Cushions kept slipping off. I would definitely still return and would definitely recommend this place to anyone wanting to explore Chester and all the fabulous places in this area.
Gordon
The shippon cottage , the owner had thought of everything including a lovely welcome pack cottage was immaculately clean and hot tub a bonus. A lot of very useful information about the area was available on email from owner The location was so close to Chester just ideal for our stay. Would highly recommend the cottage 10 out of 10
Fantastic cottage ! Everything about the place is perfect, absolutely no negative points. We found the property to be perfectly clean and all fixtures and fittings were lovely. Everything you need is available and the cottage was so welcoming and cosy to provide the ideal place to relax. The owner Matt and his family were very helpful and immediately made us feel at home. Beds were comfortable and and relaxing and the quality of the bedding and towels was absolutely first class. The hot tub in the garden was ideal and well used by all our family. Fantastic weather over the full week we stayed so the picnic table in the garden was perfect for sitting in the evening sun ! The cottage is in a brilliant location with the Cheshire Oaks and Chester Zoo only minutes away. Lots of other fabulous attractions within an hours drive so there is something to suit all tastes I could continue for ages with superlatives but suffice to say the Shippon is the perfect place to stay and enjoy a wonderful holiday ! Thanks again to Matt for letting us stay there and best wishes for the family in future.
We thoroughly enjoyed our second visit to The Shippon. It is conveniently situated for Chester and Liverpool and the facilities are excellent. .
First class accommodation everything that you would need with little extras lovely king size beds, ideal place to stay for sight seeing in the area. Thankyou to the owners for making this a wonderful place to stay

Very good stay overall, the owner provided a comprehensive range of items which is really convenient. The property is very comfortable and have 2 separate toiletsbathroom which is also very handy. Most importantly it is at good location, close to chester zoo, the outlet and a lot of other things as well. Would strongly recommend.
A beautiful cottage with everything we needed. It was nice to be provided with all the basic necessities as you would have at home toiletries, spare toilet roll, bin liners, dish washer tablets to name but a few. Plus a generous welcome pack including milk, coffee, tea, biscuits and prosecco! The hot tub was very relaxing after a days sight seeing. All in all we had a very comfortable stay. Thank you.
Had a lovely weekend staying in the Shippon. Great decor and layout for two couples, well equipped, lovely location, excellent hot tub and the little extras like milk, prosecco, tea, coffee, sugar, biscuits etc was a nice unexpected surprise. Loved the animal cams, being able to watch the barn owls, birds, alpaca's and goats in real time was fab! Would highly recommend this property.

Second time we have stayed here now, this time we brought friends with us as we enjoyed the first time so much. The hot tub is great and the beds are really comfy. Great location for getting to Cheshire oaks and Chester. Lovely lay out in the place and plenty of activities for the kids too from board games to little toys. Would highly recommend staying here we will be back again.
This was the cleanest, most comfortable holiday cottage I have ever stayed in. Everything has so much thought and care put into it. I loved waking up and watching the barn owls on the wee cameras, and taking a dip in the hot tub in the evening. The welcome package was a lovely surprise. We cant wait to return!
Angela
Lovely cottage with everything you need even a cupboard full of games. It's close to Chester where there is loads to do. The welcome pack was a fab gesture with tea, coffee, hot choc, biscuits, jam, milk & prosecco
The shippon was clean, comfortable and well looked after. The basket of things tea, coffee, hot chocolate, biscuits, jams was a lovely surprise and you put milk and wine in the fridge which was great after a long journey. The garden was lovely with the wooden animals telling the story from the book. The animals in the owners garden was lovely to see on the web cam and in person. The location was great for Cheshire oaks, Zoo and other places in the area. The owners of the place were very helpful and friendly. We will come again.

Very well clean & maintained cottage, lovely selection of extras waiting for us on our arrival. Beds were really comfortable, the Jacuzzi was clean, warm and had great pressure jets. Even our toddler loved the cottage & area, the owner was really friendly letting our little one stroke his dogs and the orchid with the different animal characters making a story was lovely & well maintained. They provided a good size cot and high chair when requested, there was even a good selection of toys and games for him. It's in a great area for both a peaceful getaway and lots of places to visit close by, even for families with a car, but parking is provided

We had a lovely weekend at The Shippon cottage. It was immaculate and the owners have clearly put a lot of thought into making it special for their guests. We will definitely return and Ill be recommending it to friends.
Beautiful cottage in ideal location. Perfect for our family holiday. Owners went above and beyond when our little one was unwell.
Will definitely be coming back! Had a great stay here the cottage was lovely, the perfect location for a relaxing time with friendsfamily.
Brilliant, cozy property. Perfect for me, my husband, 3 and 1 year old. Hut tub is in the front garden which doesnt have any privacy but that wasnt a problem for us. Home owners have thought of a lot of little things that usually gets forgotten. Milk and Prosecco in the fridge on arrival and an amazing tub of teas, coffees, biscuits and more as a welcome package. Extra details also went along way eg more than enough bin bags, dishwasher tablets, clingfilm, tin foil etc. Tv cabinet had alot of kids toys in which went down well with the kids and lovely robes and slippers for the hot tub transfer. 10 minutes from Chester, perfect location for a day at the zoo. Loved our holiday..thank you x
Such a loverly place to stay! Exactly what it says and looks like. Location is fantastic for any sort of occasion. So quiet and peaceful. Hosts had excellent communication before staying very helpful with lots of things. Would definitely be returning. Thank you so much

This property exceeded our expectations and is highly recommended. The location is amazing, in the countryside but a short ride to several pubs and chester town centre. The cottage has everything you need, dressing gowns and slippers provided which were great for the hot tub. Tea, coffee and prosecco on arrival....modern, clean and comfortable, we will be booking again for same time next year.
