Parlour Barn was one of the cleanest and well equipped homes that we have stayed in. The photos don't do the place justice. The facilities are excellent and the games room was such a great feature. Plenty of games to choose from! The kitchen was very well equipped with everything that we needed for our stay. The bedrooms were very comfortable with quality mattresses and a great selection of pillows. I would highly recommend staying at Parlour Barn, and would happily return in the future. Jo is super friendly and a great host. She was very accommodating with our last minute requests. Thank you!

This property, the facilities and the ambiance are perfect! It was a luxurious treat to stay here. Loved every second of our stay. One suggestion would be that I would have found it really helpful to have the owner contact details at the point of booking so that I could check availability of the dog boarding option. Sykes wouldnt give this to me until full payment was taken, which left it too close to the date of arrival. We used another local option which was great, but Id have absolutely booked in with the owners had I had the ability to do so at the point of booking.

Wow! Absolutely stunning accommodation, everything you could ever need! ! A cupboard full of games which we used a lot and an amazing games barn with pool table, table tennis etc which was used extensively. Would definitely recommend this place, lots of open spaces for dog walking and an enclosed garden with sauna and hot tub. Would definitely return......

Another wonderful stay at Parlour Barn. Centrally located so we can all meet up as a family. Truly delightful and well fenced garden for our dogs. The sauna and hot tub most welcome after a good days walking. Visited the pottery factory shops on this occasion and got some good bargains at the Emma Bridgewater shop. There are a great selection of board games inside and outside in the wooden shed for when the weather is dry. Jo and Giles are always attentive should we need them .

Best by far cottage we have stayed in. Giles & Jo, we're perfect hosts, out side facilities was perfect for all weather conditions. Absolutely faultless. This is a very well thought out property. It is well equipped, makes the most of the location and is brilliantly set out. Sunshine on the patio at breakfast and sunset either in the hut, hot tub or lower garden. Bed comfort was divine. We all hit the pillows and slept really well. The open plan layout is great when one is cooking, others playing board games or reading at the same time. Lots of lovely touches like the welcome pack, fresh flowers and toiletries. Fantastic location, easy access to daytime adventures and peaceful at night when you kick back and enjoy the magnificent views. All you hear is birdsong and farm animals, minimal passing traffic. The games barn, hot tub and heated hut take care of what to do when you're not out and about exploring. This property has all eventualities covered. A little constructive feedback if we'd known that the lower floor was out of bounds for dogs we'd have given this place a miss.......and it would have been our loss! Thankfully we'd taken a vets pheromone spray so having their bed in a strange place away from hoomans wasn't a deal breaker. Also for small breed dogs the garden is not 100 secure. The patio table obscures a visible gap in the chicken wire and our shihtzu's discovered it. Again no great harm done, a little vigilance kept them and the cows apart. There is so much more space for them to play and explore. We thoroughly enjoyed staying here and would strongly recommend it.

We had a fantastic holiday and relax with the family at the Barn, the whole site is really well equipped and maintained, Jo was very helpful. We specifically really enjoyed the games room and enclose garden which our dogs loved. We would highly recommend.

We stayed at the adjoining barn pastures barnlast year so thought wed try parlour this year and we werent disappointed. Both barns we stayed in were immaculately presented and are kitted out with everything you could need. Both Jo & Giles are a credit to what they do and the way they run their business. Lovely discreet location but yet within a 5minutes drive you have all you need. Hoping to visit again next year.

If you are looking at the Parlour Barn STOP scrolling & book . An amazing holiday home, so thoughtfully put together, gorgeous interiors & so very well equipped. You will not find a better range of facilities, hot tub, sauna, log burner, dog friendly & lots of extra little touches from the owners. Wow, what a beautiful holiday home parlour barns is. We spent 7 truly amazing nights here celebrating our engagement along with our family and the memories we have created here will never be forgotten. This place has everything including the sauna, hot tub, all the kitchen appliances with the ice machine, all of the board games AND a huge games room that has its own karaoke machine and tuned piano that we spent many hours having fun. JO you were amazing and you catered for my family providing more towels and robes so thank you, such a wonderful friendly, polite and caring host. Parlour Barn is an exceptional barn conversion that is perfect in every way . Fantastic amenities both within and outside the property, all high quality and well maintained . The sauna , hot tub & games room were used by our family and provided space to spread out on rainy days . We highly recommend this property and wouldnt hesitate to make the 4 hour trip to get there . The owners have really thought of everything , even down to providing home cooked meals and pet sitting . Totally awesome property. Superbly equipped with everything we could possibly need. Great touches like the robes, spa towels and doggy towels. Love the tasteful decor and homely feel. Games room made the trip and allowed us to keep two 16 year olds entertained and off their phones!! Loved the whole experience and hope to return.

I couldn't have asked for a nicer destination for my hen party weekend. The Parlour Barn was simply stunning inside, it actually felt alot bigger than it looked in the pictures! And the whole house was spotless, I didn't see a single piece of dust or dirt anywhere. The views from the house are just amazing rolling hills and the sheep & lambs! The hot tub was perfect, clean and all set up ready to use, and under a cover in case of bad weather. The sauna was also lovely and clean too. We absolutely loved the games room! We spent the whole day in there and didn't get bored, we loved the karaoke machine and the bar with the saddle stools were so cool! There is plenty of space for 6 people, it didn't feel cramped at all and you could easily stay here for a week. Lots of nice touches like separate towels for showering and using the hot tub, and nice fluffy robes to use, also the welcome hamper was such a wonderful surprise! The garden is lovely too, plenty of space if you have dogs or children with you. Lots of local walks on your doorstep and a gorgeous spa only 30 mins away, and the local town is lovely with lots of choices of restaurants. I 100 wouldn't hesitate to stay here again! We're already looking at booking the bigger house to come and stay with family in the summer

Everything was fabulous. If I was nitpicking the lounge did smell a bit doggy but nevertheless still clean.

I had arranged a hen weekend at Parlour Barn and it was the perfect venue. The hens loved relaxing in the private sauna and hot tub, and all enjoyed some friendly competition in the games barn. We were a little nervous in the run up to the weekend due to a huge snowstorm, but the owner was so helpful and reassuring with travel updates that we all felt at ease. The amazing view at sunset over snowy hills on our first night more than made up for the travel nerves!

Parlour Barn is by far the best holiday let we have stayed in. Attention to detail 100. We stayed over Christmas and the barn was beautifully and tastefully decorated. Christmas plates and t towels. Fantastic stay at this lovely barn, superclean and comfortable,with everything you could want. Grandkids loved the playbarn, so much to do there, great fun for all.We had one of Jo the owners' homemade meals' first night, it was delicious! and very welcome after long day at Alton Towers, jacuzzi was lovely too with great views.Simply a great stay.

What an amazing house. Definately the best equipped, most comfortable, well thought out home we've stayed in. Nothing was too much trouble and in particular the help from the owners throughout the stay was invaluable great recommendations for places to visit, as well as stay. To give an idea of just how good they were.... despite being in the middle of the peak district and amazing for walks, our 'teens' were falling about and moaning end of the world that one of the playstation controllers was a bit slow. Just happened to mention it to Jo and less than an hour later a brand new controller was delivered personally, and in the little darlings hands. And they were quiet for an entire day. Bonus points. We were a family of 5 plus two v active boxer dogs who loved EVERYTHING, particularly being able to run around in the massive outdoor space and also dipping their noses into the jacuzzi!

We have just returned from a 7 night stay stay at Parlour Barn and we didnt want to come home! The setting and views are beautiful, the amenities for us and our guests were outstanding. We thoroughly enjoyed the hot tub watching the sun go down and the games shack was great fun. The cooking facilities were fab so my husband tells me and we couldnt have chosen a better property. Beautiful cottage in an amazing location with loads to see and do. We could have happily spent our fortnight without leaving the grounds the facilities were so good. Whilst feeling you are in the countryside, Leek is still close by with many choices of eateries and a vast array of shops.

The property and surroundings were absolutely stunning and equipped with everything we could possibly need. We enjoyed using the facilities on site and visiting the beautiful countryside nearby. It was wonderful to be local for a day at Alton Towers. We had a perfect holiday with our teenage children and dog.

You are transported from the valley floor right up above where you can enjoy superb Dewent Valley Views. You can also stroll around 60 acres of wooded hillside on foot to see an array of birds and wildlife.

British Wildlife Rescue Centre - TN8 7AR

This is a really unique opportunity to see the fantastic work going on at this centre. The purpose of the British Wildlife Rescue Centre is to treat and care for injured wildlife which cannot be released into the wild. Many of the animals are brought to the centre by members of the public or the RSPCA. The site is rather unique and features a huge array of rides including log flumes, roller coasters and pirate ships. This is an all weather attraction located in Ilkeston Derbyshire. With a large play frame as well as bikes and ride on toys this is a fun place for young children. The toddler time sessions take place during term times on week days from 9.30am until 2.30pm and are very popular. The admission fee is excellent value for money and parents can sit down and enjoy a drink while the children play. A new baby changing facility has now been installed together with some new chairs making this a clean and welcoming attraction for families.
