About Parlour Barn

Parlour Barn is a delightful barn conversion, situated on the outskirts of the thriving town of Leek, in Staffordshire, and resting alongside the Peak District National Park. This abode provides an exceptional base for exploring all this picturesque region has to offer, with a wonderfully modern décor inside, giving you a warm and welcoming feeling.

Spend your evenings in the open-plan living room, with a lovely L-shaped sofa to curl up on, and a woodburning stove for that extra bit of warmth. The kitchen has all the appliances you could need to cook up a storm for the whole family, with a large dining area for family gatherings.

There are three lower ground floor bedrooms, all exceptionally decorated with modern furnishings and their own TV's and are individual to store your personal items and served by a family bathroom. Delight in the provided hot tub in the enclosed garden to the front, where you can sink into the warm water and let those bubbling jets work their magic.

Or you can enjoy the sauna after a day's walking. Continuing to impress is the thatched deluxe heated outdoor garden hut ideal for outdoor dining, entertaining and playing games.

Just down from the cottage lies the communal games shack – the ultimate Wild West-themed games room for fun with friends and family. Here you’ll find pool, air hockey, table tennis, table football and a classic arcade game console featuring 60 of those retro favourites we all know and love.

There’s also a karaoke machine on hand for musical entertainment, as well as a tuned piano and guitar. A perfect place to return to after a long day sightseeing.

The spacious property, just off the main road that runs through the village of Waterhouses, sleeps 12 guests, making it ideal for large family gatherings and celebrating special occasions. The property has ample outdoor space and a hot tub to sink into at the end of a busy day. There’s a great choice of walking routes in the area, including the Manifold Track, which starts in the village. Nearby family attractions include Peak Wildlife Park (2.5 miles), Alton Towers (6 miles) and Chatsworth House (26 miles). The large former pub has a unique sense of style, with grandiose furniture, striking period features and bespoke artwork. Come together to make memories in the impressive conservatory, where you can enjoy special mealtimes around the grand dining table looking out over the grounds. Unwind in the characterful lounge, with its exposed beams and double-fronted wood burner. Cook up a storm in the magnificent oak kitchen/diner or entertain your fellow guests at the piano in the entrance hall. As this is a period property, be aware that there are cottage-style stairs and the bedrooms in the eaves have restricted head height. Outside, the spacious grounds house a large lawn, patio, hot tub, BBQ and wood-fired pizza oven. There is a small pond with safety grid - care to be taken with dogs and children. The Manifold Track is a pretty route that takes you through the Manifold and Hamps Valleys for 9.5 miles, to the nearby village of Hulme End. Bikes can be hired in Waterhouses and along the route you can climb up to Thor’s Cave, where the views are spectacular. You’ll find ample walking opportunities within the Longshaw Estate (28 miles), from woodland rambles to moorland hikes. Within the estate is the mystical Padley Gorge, where you can paddle in the pretty stream, marvel at the tumbling waterfalls and enjoy lunch at one of the picturesque picnic spots.

Of course you can't mention attractions in Staffordshire without featuring the fabulous Alton Towers theme park.  The rides range from thrilling to quite simply terrifying although there are more gentle family rides for the little ones.  All ages are catered for here.  Some of the most famoue rides include Th13teen, Air, The Blade and Nemesis.  There is also a waterpark on site for some splashtastic fun. The Peak District National Park is the ideal place to relax and explore.  The stunning scenery will take your breath away and there is the opportunity to take part in ranger led guides and events.  These are ideal if you are new to the area or only staying a short time and want to see the best sights and walks.

This is a top class theme park with plenty to do for the whole family.  From thrilling rides to more gentle activities for the little ones this place is ideal.  The best thing is that 50% of their attractions are under cover so the British weather needn't spoil the fun.

Gulliver's Kingdome is a family friendly theme park offering many attractions for children of all ages. The site is rather unique and features a huge array of rides including log flumes, roller coasters and pirate ships. For the little ones there are rides such as the veteran cars and the balloon wheel and Diego and Dora the Explorer are on hand to make sure they are having a great time. Between the 21st and 31st of October the park becomes a spooky Halloween spectacular with a range of shows and fireworks to enjoy. Standard prices are £12.00 for adults and children over 90cm. Heights of Abraham - DE4 3PT

This unique attraction combines an array of activities.  If you have a look on their website there are some good video clips which give an even better idea of what this attraction is all about.  Some of the highlights include the Cable Car system which is actually Britain's first alpine style cable car system.  You are transported from the valley floor right up above where you can enjoy superb Dewent Valley Views.  You can also stroll around 60 acres of wooded hillside on foot to see an array of birds and wildlife.
British Wildlife Rescue Centre - TN8 7AR

This is a really unique opportunity to see the fantastic work going on at this centre.  The purpose of the British Wildlife Rescue Centre is to treat and care for injured wildlife which cannot be released into the wild.  Many of the animals are brought to the centre by members of the public or the RSPCA.  Visit their website to see the picture gallery and to find out how to help if this is something which interests you.  There are also regular fundraising events such as the Sponsered Leg Wax.
Denby Visitor Centre - DE5 8NX

Denby visitor centre is a fun day out in the Derbyshire region with an array of activities iunder one roof.  An all weather attraction you can take pottery tours, see cookery demonstrations and visit Bourne's restaurant.  There are events and offers on throughout the year for example the Denby factory Shops sale where you can save £££s and October Creepy Crypt for Halloween where you can go along in fancy dress and have your face painted.  Booking is advised so check out the latest details on their website.
Rosliston Forestry Centre - DE12 8JX

Rosliston Forestry Centre is a beautiful woodland site with tranquil areas for Fishing as well as some beautiful meadows and a lake. For children there is a Play Area to run around on and during school holidays organised activities such as range led walks are available. The site is also an excellent place for Walking, Cycling and Horse Riding. Other available events taking place this year include an Archery drop in session, a Christmas Crafting Afternoon and a Mince Pie and Mulled Wine Walk.
Crazy Crocodiles Indoor Play & Party Centre - LL30 1DR

This is an all weather attraction located in Ilkeston Derbyshire.  With a large play frame as well as bikes and ride on toys this is a fun place for young children.  The toddler time sessions take place during term times on week days from 9.30am until 2.30pm and are very popular. The admission fee is excellent value for money and parents can sit down and enjoy a drink while the children play. A new baby changing facility has now been installed together with some new chairs making this a clean and welcoming attraction for families.  Look out for offers on their website such as a free hot drink on select days.
