Stoney Wall Reviews

We really enjoyed our week in the cottage. The location was great with some lovely walks along the Hadrian wall walk and the walk around Wall town country park. The cottage is well equipped. we found the corner bath a bit small for us which was a shame, but there is a lovely shower in the bathroom downstairs. Some lovely tea shops around, Megs in Gilsland and Jethro's in Haltwhistle. We were also left a lovely bottle of Rose Prosecco as a welcome gift.
A lovely cottage in a quiet small group of houses. Great spot to walk from and see Hadrians wall. Gilsand is 2 miles away with great sections of the wall to view. The cottage is to a high standard throughout with the added bonus of a private hot tub and parking. Haltwhistle is a quick drive with shops and pubs. You can walk to Greenhead parallel to the railway line and up and over to Haltwhistle which is around 3 to 4 miles with great views at the top. Overall a very enjoyable relaxing stay.

Kielder Water Bird of Prey Centre - NE48 1BT
about 13 Miles
Housing the most fascinating collection of Birds of Prey in the North East this centre is definitely worth a visit if you are staying in the Kielder Water area. Located in Falstone it's easy to get to and makes a great day out for both families and couples.  As well as seeing the amazing birds you can learn all about the captive breeding programme and the excellent work being done there.  Some of the highlights of the day might include watching a Falcon stoop down from the skies at over 100mph and admiring the grace of the Eagles, Kites and Hawks.
Tullie House Museum & Art Gallery - CA3 8TP
about 17 Miles
This is a museum and art gallery in one and will suit those looking for an educational and cultural day out.  You can explore the fantastic art collection including Fine Art, Decorative Art and Textiles.  If you love nature then this aspect of Tullie House will appeal. The museum holds large and important collections of zoological, botanical and geological material. And for lovers of history there is plenty to wet your appetite here. Tullie House collects a wide range of historic materials including objects, ephemera (printed material), photographs and associated information files.  We think this museum and art gallery are excellent value for money as well.
Go Ape Northumberland - NE48 1NT
about 23 Miles
Go Ape! has really taken off and become one of the most popular attractions in the UK.  The Northumberland course is set in the stunning grounds of Matfin Hall.  Described as a high wire forest adventure this really is one for the more daring as the course takes place right up in the tree tops.  Giant tree top obstacle courses include ladders, bridges, tunnels and some of the country's best zip lines.  You will be provided with all safety equipment and training on site.
