Very nice property, lovely decor and furnishings Really could of done with a washing machine, the bathroom was situated right outside the kitchen table, which could feel a bit awkward when using the toilet, however I would say its one of the best properties we have ever stayed in Whitby and would definitely book again

A lovely quirky cottage overall. However, when we arrived it was well presented inside but outside the garden furniture was very dirty, and had not been cleaned at all,so we had to scrub the table, remove bird poo etc. The top bedroom window is also covered in poo which the window cleaner clearly can't reach. It does spoil the view to be looking out through bird droppings! It may be ours was the first booking for a while, but clearly the garden wasn't checked. We also felt a washing machine was needed as after several muddy walks we really wanted to wash some clothes! There was a large cupboard in the bathroom containing frying pans which would probably give space for this.Loved the general feel and wood burner though! Thanks!

We stayed for Christmas week and the owner had put up some decorations to give the place a festive feel which was lovely. Cottage is in a great location, just a short walk to the Abbey and the steep steps down to Church Road take you to town and harbour. The kitchen table and TV are on the small side and the livingkitchen area is very small but we liked it. Tastefully decorated with a well equipped kitchen and really comfortable beds and duvets. Whilst we managed to get the last parking space on The Ropery, it is worth bearing in mind that parking is difficult and limited so unless you have a cottage with a space then thats going to be an issue generally when visiting Whitby. We would definitely stay again and would recommend to friends.
Beautiful cottage in god spot and with excellent views with quick access to interesting and lively town. Particularly enjoyed the short walk to the Abbey and the coastal walk. The cottage was clean and light. We liked the setting at the top of one of the steep passages typical of Whitby but anyone with mobility issues might have difficulties accessing from Church Street although there was easier access from The Ropery at the top. Parking close by was easy.
Michael
Lovely house and good level of equipment though TV Reception was a little hit and miss. Not a house for anyone with mobility issues or requiring easy access, steep stairs and steps to door.

Loved sunshine cottage, brilliant location for Whitby centre. Spotlessly clean and well appointed. I do think the property should have a washing machine but this was of little problem to us. Would definitely book again

The cottage was ideally situated for walking into Whitby and for driving to other local areas. A welcome bottle of Fizz and a packet of crisps was a nice gesture. The cottage decoration was modern, bright and clean with the bathroom facilities being very good and there was always constant hot water. It was nice to have an outdoor space as gardens are not always available in Whitby. The sitting room was comfortable with heating available if required. The view from the upper bedroom which overlooks the harbour and town was stunning. The bedrooms had nice bedding and quality towels were provided. Overall we enjoyed our stay and felt the cottage was great for 4 adults. A few points to consider Parking was a daily challenge as it was on a first come basis in a very busy residential area. More than one car was an extra challenge. There are steep steps into town from the cottage and also inside the cottage. The kitchen and dining area were very compact making it awkward at times to prepare and cook meals and we found the table seating was not really comfortable. Housekeeping issues The outside area had a BBQ which we did not use as it was filthy. I am not sure who was responsible for ensuring the BBQ was fit to use. There were a couple of broken glasses in the cupboard, the fridge door didn't close properly which resulted in excessive condensation and the extractor fan was not working. While these were not major issues it was a little disappointing.
Lovely place for a weekend stay, everything as described, and lovely comfy beds.
Great location with excellent outdoor space.
What a beautiful and comfortable cottage in a great central location to visit all of Whitbys attractions.
Colette
Lovely cottage, comfy beds, good bedding and fluffy towels. Stayed here a couple of times and will book again.
Kathryn
Beautiful cottage newly renovated. It has lots of space and is very well planned. We loved the garden room and the patio next to it. Lovely views from all four floors of the house. You need to be good at climbing stairs to stay here so it wouldnt suit everyone! We have stayed in Whitby many times but never in this location. We discovered a new route to the Abbey which is very close to the property and meant we could walk down the 199 steps for a change instead of up them. Would love to stay here again.

The Grainary Wildlife Farm - YO25 3HS
about 9 Miles
Located in Harwood Dale Village, North Yorkshire we think this attraction makes a superb family day out and couples will also enjoy the nature walks in the area.  There are 6 nature walks in total surrounding the farm so walkers and lovers of the outdoors will be in their element. Some of our favourite walks include the Spring Flowers, Pond and Village walk which takes around 35 minutes, and the Meadow and Trees walk which takes one hour.
Scarborough Sea Life and Marine Sanctuary - YO12 6RP
about 14 Miles
If you are enjoying a lodge break in the Yorkshire Moors and Coast then a day trip to the Scarborough Sea Life and Marine Sanctuary highly recommended. This centre is one of the regions most popular attractions and is educational as well as fun. Visitors will enjoy a journey beneath the waves, meeting many strange, beautiful and fascinating creatures of the deep. As well as mighty sharks and beautiful rays guests can get up close to some more common creatures including star fish and can also meet the otters, seals and penguins at feeding time. The site also has children's play area and picnic tables as well as a restaurant and souvenir shop. Family tickets cost £46.80 but the Tourist Information Centres in Scarborough, Whitby or Filey often offer fantastic discounts.
Sea Life Marine Sanctuary - YO12 6RP
about 14 Miles
Located in the Scalby Mills area of Scarborough this makes a fun family day out for those who are interested in marine life. The fantastic ocean tank is well worth seeing - it's been transformed into a Turtle Reef and you can see an amazing array of colourful reef fish and coral. You may also catch a glimpse of the tropical sharks and turtles. Offering good value for money this is a day out with a difference and an all weather attraction.
Peasholm Park - YO12 6QQ

This attraction is ideal for sunny days as the beautiful park is ideal for wandering out and taking in the scenery.  You can hire boats including rowing boats and canoes to enjoy the views from the water.  The pedalos with the dragon heads are always a popular choice too. Look out for special events including the Battle of Peasholm Park Naval Battle which has been described as a "must see".  You can also take a ride on the North Bay Railway which will delight children.
Betton Farm Visitor Centre - TF9 3PS
about 16 Miles
Betton Farm Visitor Centre is the ideal attraction close to the North Yorkshire coastal town of Scarborough. This animal farm has all the cute farm animals you would expect to see and will appeal to younger children especially.  A great place to both play and learn we think the Betton Farm Visitor centre is great value for money.  Check out their website for the latest opening times and admission costs.  Some of the highlights of the day might include meeting Sofie the Shetland Pony and Henry the goat, as well as the pot bellied pigs called Porky and Hammy.
Flamingo Land - YO60 7EW
about 20 Miles
Situated in Malton in North Yorkshire this has to be one of our favourite family days out.  It's a theme park and zoo all in one stretching over a massive 400 acres. With thrilling rides for the very daring like Cliff Hanger, Corkscrew and Kumali, there are also more gentle rides for the little ones such as Frog Hopper and Helitoys.  Family fun attractions include the 4D cinema, the lost river ride and the Little Monsters Den of Mischief. Check out their website for seasonal events which take place throughout the year and you can also gain more information about the zoo.  Flamingo Land is a resort as well as a theme park so you can also book accommodation there.
Castle Howard - YO60 7DA
about 27 Miles
Castle Howard is one of the regions most beautiful and historic landmarks and is located in 1,000 acres of parkland with breathtaking gardens to explore. As well as exploring the castle visitors can enjoy attractios including the unique Land Train - the best way to see the entire park. There is also a large lake offering boat trips during the summer months. In high season the site is very popular with families and offers organised activities for children including tours, talks, crafting and animal encounters. The site also has a Nature Trail which is fun for the whole family and an Adventure Playground where children can run off some energy.
