Church Beck House Reviews

Sue
Extremely well equipped and comfortable house which is well placed for the lovely village and surrounding areas. Good food at both the Yew Tree and The Plough which are within easy walking distance. Snooker table and hot tub kept us all entertained and the fizz and tasty goodies on our arrival were a lovely touch. I highly recommend this property aRead mores it literally caters for everyone however there are a few steps within the house which could prove problematic for small children or anyone with mobility issues. This was a great stay and very good value for money. The kitchen was brilliantly equipped & the snooker room was a great place to spend hours playing & having fun. The hot tub is huge and 7 guests easily fit into it! It was perfect for relaxing. Location is really good also with it only being 15 minutes drive to Scarborough. All in all 10/10! A fabulous house and location. Everything you would need for a short or longer break, including snooker table, hot tub outdoor dining area and garden. Walk to a country pub or dine in the excellent pub/hotel The Plough. So many places to visit from larger towns to old fishing villages. Ruins, castles, quaint inland hamlets, all seemingly with greatRead more tea/ coffee shops. Wonderfully furnished and sparkling clean. Hide

Stayed for Christmas 2023. 2 families. A beautiful house in a beautiful area and location - really oldy woldy and a lovely feel. Has everything we needed although a few niggles / things to suggest they are mentioned on the advert as below: - we were under the impression the picture of the front of the house was the property we had rented - not tRead morehe side door entrance being our main one. - we were not told that it was 2 properties within one, or if so this was not made clear at all - privacy; after arriving and realising our entrance was the side door and the main picture of the front of the house was not ours, when sitting in the lounge we had numerous people walking past the windows whilst sitting there which felt very uncomfortable and not very private. - the hot tub was great and we loved it! But it had been moved from the photos and wasnt on the patio. It was on the grass opposite and meant getting down the steps onto the grass with wet feet making it muddy feet. If its going this side it needs a mat or something rather than stepping directly onto grass Other than some of these things to suggest mentioning on the add we had a really lovely stay, great take away from carols plaice. Lovey touch with a welcome prosecco and Yule log - much appreciated. The property is gorgeous and even though the church bells rung a lot we got used to it and didnt bother us after a while. Thanks again and happy new year :0) Hide

This house is superb in every way. We chose it for the location and because it has a snooker table where we spent many hours playing. All the rooms are decorated nicely and is well equipped in every way.
Sarah
This is a lovely property in an excellent location. We all thought the property was beautiful. Lovely village with great caf and pubs and a short drive into Scarborough. We would all visit again.
Lorraine
A Beautiful Property - Absolutely Stunning!! The snooker room and hot tub made the holiday extra special and I have already recommended to Friends and Family. Thank You
Evelyn
People walked pass our kitchen whilst we were eating breakfast, several times. People staying at the retreat came into our kitchen aswell. The tumble dryer had that much lint in it, it was a fire hazard. The hoover and filter had not been cleaned, there was an error code showing. There were no tongs in the kitchen? The PAT testing was very out of dRead moreate. The huge grey lamp in the dining room was very loose to the base. Hide

A fantastic property, well looked after with loads of facilities. It was very clean baring in mind this is a good size to maintain. We had a fab time and would love to go back, especially if there was a repeat booking discount. Thanks for a lovely family break.
Andrew
Absolutely top class place
Lesley
The property was outstanding in all respects and exceeded our expectations. Communication was excellent. Easy check in and departure. We had one query during our stay and the owner contacted us promptly and gave us the advice we needed. We were sorry to leave.
Linda
Property surpassed our expectations. Beautifully presented and in the most idyllic situation. Great inventory as nothing I re-call we felt short of. On arriving just the absolute WOW factor. We came during a particularly cold spell but the house always felt warm, cosy and inviting. Although overall cleanliness was exceptional just a couple of minorRead more things to point out although they did not in any way upset us or impact on our stay. There was a packet of mini cheddars behind the radiator in the snooker room and a balloon under the bed in the master suite. Only slight niggle was that there where guests in the other half of the house who had parked inconsiderately and had two vehicles parked bumper to bumper right across our front door which made it a little awkward for us coming in and out of the property. On seeing them we politely mentioned this to them and they moved the cars only for them to be returned the following day. Also although well within their remit to do so they used both front and rear access of their side of the property so crossed in front of our lounge window and our kitchen window which impacted on our privacy. Not your fault but i thought they may have shown some consideration for us as their neighbours. Hide

What a stay 2-23! Fabulous house, fabulous friends - lunch in The Plough 10/10 thanks for a great stay.
Penny
Description:it implied by the photo a very different house. It didnt say we only had side bit. When I checked after arrival the house attached their description clearly mentions the portion we had but not vv! However we were still pleased just the initial impression was not accurate

Church Beck house is absolutely beautiful. We really liked the village of Scalby, had 2 fabulous meals at Yew Tree and The Plough. The house was so well equipped and the beds were super comfortable. The hot tub was fabulous as was the billiard table. Absolutely perfect for a family weekend away.
Michelle
The house was as described and more. We were there for a celebration and the house was really well set up and equipped for this. The only issue we had at the property was the lack of lighting leading to the hot tub and the lack of lighting in the actual hot tub area. When it was dark and wet it was quite treacherous. the owner did bring us a caRead moremping light that helped but I think the issue of lighting should be addressed for future guests Hide
