About Apple Tree Cottage

Set on a working farm, next to the owner's caravan park, this stunning accommodation is accessed via an external staircase, perfect for families, couples and friends.

The attention to detail will be evident from the moment you step through the front door, with bright, uplifting colour schemes, vaulted ceiling and quirky fixtures to add to the character. Cold wintry evenings will welcome the warmth from the woodburner set in one corner of the room, where you can curl up on the armchair with a good book.

There is also a glass door framing a patchwork of fields, which opens up to a Juliet-style balcony. The kitchen is fully fitted in a stylish fashion with a lovely breakfast island and dining for four people, ideal for those family meals after a day exploring the local area.

Fresh, crisp mornings will have you stepping out onto the veranda with your morning coffee to take in the picturesque views. Downstairs is where you will find the bedrooms and shower rooms, as well as a handy utility room housing laundry facilities.

The master bedroom even has its own en-suite Jack-and-Jill shower room. On return form a long walk through luscious countryside, enjoy a warm soak in the hot tub and later sit out on the patio with a refreshing drink in hand, soaking up the country atmosphere.

Nearby is the market town of Kirkby Stephen, full of amenities to replenish your cupboards, grab some lunch at one of the cafés or enjoy a drink at the pub. It is a pretty town with cobbled streets, quaint corners and a picnic area where “Frank’s Bridge” crosses the River Eden.

Apple Tree Cottage Reviews

Lovely cottage, thoroughly enjoyed our stay, peaceful and tranquil, isolated from any hustle & bustle. Excellent quality fixtures& fittings to a high standard. Hottub at proper temperature which was great. Pics 1, 2 & 30 misleading as that's a Fire Exit into an inaccessible gated off part of the property, not a main entrance as suggested.
Absolutely loved our stay and a perfect base to relax and enjoy after exploring the area
Christine
The house was lovely it had everything we needed the area was beautiful the hot tub was great it was 10 out of 10
Rachel
First impression was not great , no privacy on a caravan site NOT next to one as noted in the listing . No privacy , The property should have been listed showing the relationship of the cottage and what the surroundings are, ie a view from the balcony overlooked by at least 10 caravans to manage the customers expectations , Overall the property was really comfortable once inside , the outside space around the hot tub needs some attention as does the hot tub itself . The property itself is great . The location is a good one but the listing needs to be more transparent . No welcome pack and didnt meet the owners so no comment on that .
A lovely property in beautiful surroundings. Lovely and clean and everything you could need in the property. Hot tub an added bonus.
Sheila
Property was very comfortable. Great outside areas for sitting for both morning and evening sun.We had dogs with us and found the utility room very handy. Lots of great walk on the doorstep. The hot tub was a great bonus to the property.

Absolutely perfect cottage for us and our two dogs. They loved it. Its a perfect location and so peaceful. The hot tub was great in the evenings after walking in throughout the day. Highly recommend.

Stayed in this lovely cottage from 3rd March to Friday 8th March for my birthday week with my family. Comfortable and clean, plenty of space, very comfy beds. The hot tub was lovely in the evenings. Had everything we needed, great views into the countryside. Perfect base to visit Windermere, Penrith, Kendal, Kirby Stephen, Keswick. We had beautiful weather and had a lovely time. The farm shops around this area are great! Would recommend this cottage which is on a farm. Would definitely visit again. Thank you!!
Richard
Lovely place nice and clean and peaceful
Melanie
Lovely cottage and really enjoyed our short stay!

Apple tree cottage is an amazing property, with breathtaking views the likes Ive never seen. The owners have put a lot of thought into providing a home from home. With every need catered for. It is part of a static caravan park, and as mentioned a working farm. But dont let that stop you from staying at this 5 property. Around a 10min drive to the nearest shops.
Absolutely fantastic cottage. Everything we needed & more. The hot tub was so inviting after a days walking. Beds comfy, good quality duvet. Really enjoyed our stay here, we were sad to leave.

Apple Tree Cottage was absolutely lovely, great place to stay, lovely, clean & spacious, the hot tub was great after a day out. Lovely views over the mountains, Kirkby Stephen is a lovely village our dogs loved to visit the river for a swim under Franks Bridge, plenty of Shops, Coffee Shops and Tea Rooms in the village. We have already booked Apple Tree Cottage again for next year. Looking forward to it already.

Lovely clean cottage with everything needed and a few extra nice touches, such as milk and eggs. Beds were very comfortable. Hot tub was so relaxing, and the robes and slippers were a nice surprise. The tv channel choices were extensive and again unexpected, so plenty to watch on an evening. Cooker took a bit of working out,, as I had it on defrost, but we got there after reading the manual, same for the electric hob, if like us you have a gas appliance at home, dont try and wing it. The only thing missing for us, was a gate to close the front entrance off. Only because we took our dog, a husky, and couldnt leave the door open on a hot day evening as she would run off, so we couldnt risk opening the front door to sit outside in the sun on a morning. There was still 2 other doors to open when it was hot, as they are safely barricaded off to the outside. There are a few owner owned statics, one of the owners introduced himself, he was lovely, and gave us an insight into how the cottage was built, and assured us everything was very safe, gave us tips on local places to visit. So a lovely relaxing break we had, and the first cottage we have ever booked to stay at as it wasnt expensive.
Stayed here for a week's hiking holiday. Cottage is spacious & comfy with well equipped kitchen and two nice bedrooms. We went hiking everyday & it was great to come back at end of each day & enjoy the hot tub. If the weather is bad, although we didn't use them, there are lots of board games provided in cupboard. Only slight negative was some of the kitchen utensils & cutlery were dirty, we had to wash them before use but apart from that, everything was great and we really enjoyed our stay here. There are some static caravans next to the cottage & we spoke to a few of the owners who had been there 16 years and very friendly.
Fantastic well equipped and comfortable cottage, only let down with the cleanliness of the place. Attention to detail is needed.High gloss Kitchen frontals all smeared, tiled areas of shower grubby and grout dirty. After five days hot tub smelt like a pond.I never saw the water in this being checked or tested all the time we stayed!.We did have a great holiday in the cottage but i feel it would have been much better had we not come across these small points that are all easily rectified!.
A first class holiday cottage in a quiet location we had a lovely chilled out ... A first class holiday cottage in a quiet location we had a lovely chilled out holiday and soaking in the hot tub at the end of the day was so relaxing the bed was very comfortable a very nice clean cottage and the welcome pack was a nice touch thanks Ron, Jayne and Molly the Patterdale
Lovely place to stay, great cottage with everything you need for a relaxing holiday. Hot tub was great and the views were fantastic.
Absolutely loved our stay here. The dogs were so happy and we felt so welcomed to the farm by everyone. Will definitely be returning! Xx
Lovely property, nicely styled & plenty of space. Lovely touches such as eggs & milk, blankets etc. Even though it wasnt used, generous gesture providing wood for fire. Hot tub great extra only comment was that it wasnt set for a hot temperature when we arrived & didnt notice until the evening on the Friday so had to wait until the following day to use it. Need a bigger frying pan to cook in! Chopping boards are awful Im afraid, please get proper solid ones! Would have been nice to have washing up liquid & a sponge provided given that you had gone to the bother of providing dishwasher tablets & tea towels. Slightly disappointing we couldnt get anywhere down the public footpath leading away from the property. Great quiet park & did not feel overlooked or monitored by the fact you lived next door. Thank you for such a great stay!
Peaceful amd friendly stay.
Fantastic property very clean & great location. All I would say is to make the hot tub a bit more private by maybe putting a bamboo screen or something along the metal fence. Apart from that perfect. I would definitely recommend this property to anyone
Louise
Beautiful cottage which was spotless, comfortable, everything you would need was available.
We had a lovely stay at Apple Tree Cottage, and our only regret was not getting to meet the owners. We were unsure of how busy they would be, with it being on a farm. While we were relaxing, they were still busy on the farm. But everything was great, we just wish we could have found public footpaths straight out the door so we felt a bit safer letting our dog off lead. We did find some nice walks in the villages close by, and tourist information.
Hayley
We had a wonderful stay at apple tree cottage. The cottage is clean modern and cosy. It is well placed to explore the lakes, local villages and walks. The fresh eggs on arrival were a lovely touch and very tasty.
Deanna
Absolutely wonderful stay! Perfect location for exploring the Lakes, Dales and Pennines. House was clean, modern and came with everything you could hope for and more! We would love to return for another stay!
Carron
Lovely cottage very well equipped. I love horses so it was wonderful so see them in all the surrounding fields . Would recommend for a relaxing holiday.
A perfect cottage in stunning location made for a super holiday. Very high standard of comfort and cleanliness, the hot tub was an added luxury. Loved it!
Jacqueline
Stunning cottage in an absolute breath taking part of the World. ...Owners very friendly and always helpful.. Plenty to do and visit in the surrounding area...Highly recommended. Thank you
The cottage was an absolute gem. Very conveniently located for The Lakes, Pennines and The Dales. The hot tub was very welcoming after a long day's walking. We would highly recommend this cottage, very well equipped and comfortable.
Charlotte
Lovely property and perfect location for a peaceful holiday. Hotub was a lovely touch at the end of a busy day or to start off the morning. Beds were comfy, the kitchen was well equipped for a nice night in. Views were beautiful and two towns only a 10 minute drive either side was handy.
Elisabetta
Loved it! Nice touch with fresh eggs and milk. The cottage was very nice and very peaceful, great location with an amazing view. Loved the hot tub after a day out hiking and the open fire while playing board games.

Ullswater Steamers - CA11 0US
about 20 Miles
This is an award winning Lake District attraction and they have been operating cruisers on Lake Ullswater for over 150 years.  There is no better way to explore the lakes than on water and you could even combine a cruise with a spectacular walk.  For great days out in this region then this attraction is highly recommended and will appeal to couples as well as families.  Corporate groups are also well catered for.
Rydal Mount & Gardens - LA22 9LU
about 22 Miles
Rydal Mount & Gardens are wonderfully situated between Lake Windermere and Rydal Water offering breathtaking scenery. The home of William Wordsworth from 1813 - 1850 the grand home is now lived in by the poets descendents but parts of the house and grounds are open to the public. Why not take a guided tour and see the rooms where many of the famous poems were written. The gardens are beautiful at all times of the year but in the summer offer a spectacular display of colour. There is also a gallery and a tearoom. Discounts are available for group bookings.
Lakeland Wildlife Oasis - LA6 1JH
about 25 Miles
Located in the Milnthorpe area of Cumbria we love this local attraction.  With an eclectic mix of fascinating wildlife and hands on displays this centre is educational as well as fun.  You can wander around at leisure admiring the exhibits which range from chameleons to computers. Some of the most threatened species are kept at the park as part if international breeding programmes.  Check out their website for the latest opening times and admission costs which are great value for money.  There are discounts for pre-booked parties of 12 or more.
