Silver Birches Reviews

Gabrielle
Beautiful family getaway in the heart of Lakes. Everything you could want and more! Bedrooms were great, beds comfy, space to unpack and everyone had peaceful sleep after long days walking and outdoors. Kitchen was well stocked and catered for our children as well, we appreciated the bottle of Prosecco as a welcome gift after a gruelling motorway journey to the property! Hot tub was an added luxury that was enjoyed, and the provided robes made the quick dash to the warmth of the house that bit more manageable it was October half term after all!. Hosts were contactable if necessary and we will definitely look at booking again.
Judith
Lovely property in quiet area away from hustle & bustle but near enough to walk to an assortment of amenities. Hot tub a definite bonus on arrival property was extremely clean with everything you may need at your fingertips. Lovely large bedrooms ideal for 2 families. Would highly recommend booking your stay here. We will certainly return.
We had a lovely stay at Silver Birches and would certainly recommend this property. It was well maintained, was as described and everything worked well, showers, heating, hot tub, we had no issues whatsoever. The smaller details surpassed our expectations as it is literally a home from home, there is an abundance of crockery, pans, baking equipment, literally everything you could wish for, there was handwash in each bathroom and toilet, shower gel available, washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets, dish cloths, tea towels, bin liners. A fantastic utility room with 2 washing machines and a drier, an air fryer, DAB radio, the list goes on. The bottle of Prosecco and pint of milk was a lovely gesture after a 3.5 hour drive Location is pretty perfect, a short walk into Windermere with a lovely amount of shops and a handful of restaurants, Bowness on Windermere is a short drive, as is Ambleside. We did leave a few items at the property on the day of departure and the owner called me to arrange the return which was hugely appreciated. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.
Carolyn
The house is beautiful, everything you could possibly need is there. Spotlessly clean, beds very comfortable the only thing I would have liked in the bedroom would be a tv but thats just me being picky
Silver Birches is an extremely well presented and comfortable holiday property. There was nothing in the way of utilities or space that we could have wanted. It far exceeded our expectations so Id have no hesitation in recommending Silver Birches for a Lake District stay
Thomas
This was our second visit to Silver Birches and on arrival the property was very clean and well presented. Noticed a couple of improvements such as an air fryer in the kitchen and new furniture in the Garden Room. Everything you could require was provided including robes and towels for the hot tub and high quality toileteries that were so good we purchased some at the store in Bowness The location is perfect and is a short stroll from Windermere village or a longer walk or short drive to Bowness We particularly enjoyed the hot tub whilst our puppy enjoyed exploring the secure garden area The property gets booked up quickly and to avoid disappointment we booked another stay when we got back home Highly recommended
Lovely bungalow, with everything you would need. Home from home. Will definitely book a stay there again
The property was superb. Location is ideal being just at the top end of Windermere, and Bowness being a gentle walk down the hill. The hot tub in a very private garden was a nice way to end every day. Only one negative comment and that was the duvets were far too heavy for the time of year.
Elizabeth
Excellent location and house and garden area was amazing. Everything in the house you could possibly need and privacy in the garden was brilliant
Silver Birches is a beautifully presented property. Extremely clean on arrival. Lovely gardens with the big back garden enclosed to keep dog safe. Great hot tub with robes provided. Nice quiet area surrounded by picturesque lanes and walks. Very close to shops restaurants and Lake Windermere. We visited Boness escape rooms, Lakeland Wildlife Oasis and went paddleboarding on Lake Windermere. House and area are faultless. Five star accommodation. Great base for holiday to the Lake District.
Our 4th stay in Silverbirches and already booked to come back next year. The bungalow is by far the cleanest and best equipped we have ever stayed in. Enid and Pete have thought of everything and nothing has been forgotten, it really is a home from home. We especially like the bottle of fizz on arrival. Highly recommend would give 6 stars if we could.
Joanna
We had a fantastic stay at Silver Birches the sort of place where you feel instantly relaxed. Very well laid out and spacious. Particularly well suited if you have dogs with the massive utility room and secure garden. Conveniently situated quiet but easy walk into Windermere and a good location for getting around in the Lakes. Overall very impressed and highly recommended.
Eileen
We absolutely loved our holiday at Silver Birches, it was very clean and comfortable, the owners have provided everything to make a lovely enjoyable stay, it was so relaxing both indoors and outside, the hot tub was a bonus, the location is so beautiful and outstanding. We cant wait to return, and will definitely be booking this again. thank you to the owners
Christine
Exceptional property will definitely stay again.
Heather
The property is very well equipped, everything you may need has already been thought about and provided. The position is extremely good lovely road, within easy reach of Windermere and the other market towns. The short cut from the bungalow into Windermere on foot was very useful. The hot tub was brilliant, in use most days of our stay. Would love to return again sometime.
Katrina
Love this property! Our second time of staying in it. Beautiful home. Excellent location, had great weather. Hot tub is lovely.xxx
An extremely well appointed cottage with everything that you could need. It is in a great location for a walk into town or down to Lake Windermere. The cottage itself was spotless and very comfortable for our stay. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.
Carol Ann
Excellent Holiday accommodation. We loved our stay there. The owners have thought of everything you could possibly need and more. Location is brilliant too! 100 recommend.
Extremely well equipped and the location is perfect as described by Sykes. Wellcome back was very much appreciated as were the Dressing gowns for the fantastic hot tub. The secure garden meant that our 2 dogs could roam and explore at their leisure. Our 3 grandkids absolutely loved the garden room den and of course the hot tub. This is by far the best Lake District rental that we have experienced with a very homely and relaxed ambience feeling as soon as you enter Silver Birches. Thank you so much Enid and Peter, we will definitely be booking again.
As soon as we walked into the property and looked around we were amazed by the size, quality, cleanliness and facilities! Its in a beautiful location and an easy stroll into Windermere! Highly recommended!! Will definitely stay here again and Sykescottages have been truly superb and very professional!
Dianne
Thank you for our 2nd stay! A super property in an ideal location. Everything was perfect, we wanted for nothing in your fully equipped house. Lovely little touches biscuits, fizz, doggy bits n bobs, foil etc. We'd love to come back soon!
Thomas
A well equipped and clean bungalow in a quiet cul de sac which is ideally located for exploring Windermere and Bowness The beds were very comfortable and the kitchen had everything you might need for a self catering break We were lucky enough to have excellent weather and made a lot of use of the outdoor space including the hot tub, the robes and towels supplied were a great bonus. Our dog enjoyed the large secure garden area and the traffic free walk into Windermere village We had a minor issue with the preparation of the property for our arrival but this was quickly resolved with a telephone call to Lakelovers We are already planning to return next year.
On entering Silver Birches it was clean and very tidy. Everything we needed was there ,we wished for nothing.Position in Windermere was excellent, loads of walks from the front door,Booths supermarket within walking distance.Made daily use of the hot tub, gardens were beautiful, and well enclosed for our dog. Will return in the futurexx
Silver Birches was really comfortable , spacious clean and homely . It was really well equipped with all you could need and more . The owners have put a lot of thought into Silver Birches. It was lovely to come back to after a days walking etc. It is in a really quiet location but within walking distance of lake Windermere and other walks and a couple of small towns. Wonderful accommodation in a beautiful area , we will be booking again , Thank you
I was really disappointed in the cleanliness 9f the property. I really do not believe the floors had been washed as several white marks on living room floor that easily wiped away when I washed it. Also rugs beside bed in twin room were disgusting and no way they had been cleaned. They were so bad I put them under the bed as refused to stand on them. Have pictures to bsbk this. The sun room was also a disappointment as it too needed a good sweep put as dead moths and crumbsdebris from previous guests. The twin room which is the one I used generally was disappointing as expected better than the shabby , worn furniture. All in all location great but dint think it is worth the money asked as go yobthe lakes every year and hsve stayed in better. Covid is still around and therefore cleanliness is s must. Have tried to reach out to lake lovers re this but not sure if my email has sent properly and would qppreciate a call back to discuss.
Absolutely fantastic week in silver birches, the property had everything you could require. Hot tub was just brilliant. Would definitely recommend this property and I would definitely return here
Andrew
Everything was as advertised, lovely property, enjoyed the hot tub! We have visited many properties around the Lakes and this is one of the best.. Couple of maintenance items couldnt find any light switches for the outside summer house. And also appears to be slight mice issue under the kitchen sink. As bin too small, we used a bin bag which was nibbled through overnightmight need to put some traps down.
Graham
Excellent Bungalow with good facilities and a superb location with easy access via paths to Windermere shopsfacilities.
Deborah
The only thing we can think of is that the bedroom off the lounge could do with some blackout blinds or curtains as it was very light what seems to be all the time, we also had a 4 year old child with us, she was in one of the back bedrooms also had to rig some sort of blackout for her as well as she obviously went to bed early than us and it was very light in her room.
We stayed at the end of April for 7 nights. The bungalow was excellent in every way . 5 stars from us.
Fantastic property. Had a fantastic week!
Absolutely fantastic accommodation, thank you
We have just returned after a weeks stay at Silver Birches and cant recommend this property highly enough! This property is faultless and is in a fantastic location with adequate parking. On arrival we were delighted with what we saw, including fresh flowers and fizz, what a lovely welcoming gesture. Immaculately clean and wellfurnished throughout. Bedrooms are spacious with nice fresh bedding on very comfortable beds. The bathrooms are clean and modern. The lounge and dining area is spacious with a lovely coal effect gas fire which we enjoyed use of on the cold evenings. The kitchen is well equipped with everything you need, including a large fridge with an icemaker, leading through to a good sized utility room with washing facilities. The Hot Tub is fantastic which made our holiday complete and the provision of towels and robes was appreciated. It was ideal for our dog who loved his holiday too, laminate flooring and doors sectioning off the bedroom areas from the lounge area where he peacefully slept was perfect. We will definitely be returning to Silver Birches.
A wonderful house the 3 cs clean, comfortable & convenient. We d love to stay in Silver Birches again. Our 2 granddaughters & their parents loved the hot tub & slept well in the extremely comfortable beds. Very impressed by the provision of towels & gowns for the hot tub. Thank you for the treats that were left.
Andrea
We had a wonderful stay in Silver Birches. The bungalow is well equipped and very convenient to walk in to Windermere. There is everything you can possibly need and the accommodation is of a very high standard. We would definitely recommend staying here.
Graham
Very clean, well equipped property with a lovely garden, the back being well enclosed for our dog to roam safely. The hot tub was brilliant, being well used and much appreciated, especially by our teenage girls. Only a short distance to walk into Windermere and some nice local walks to exercise our dog. Overall we all had a wonderful time and would have given 5 but, unfortunately, there was building work being carried out at the property directly opposite. There were days when heavy vehicles were unloading materials and laying concrete some mornings between 7.00 and 8.00. Obviously this is only a temporary problem but, it did detract from a quiet, relaxing holiday.
Tv difficult to work out the stations, sound bar not very good, nice quiet place ... Tv difficult to work out the stations, sound bar not very good, nice quiet place to stay close to town centre and local walks
Andrew
Lovely house and really great for family and dogs. Back garden is well enclosed so the dogs can be left to roam around the back by themselves while humans soak in the hot tub. Short and pleasant walk to Lake Windermere itself to exercise the hounds. Walking distance to shops and town. Really appreciated the freezer with the ice maker during the heatwave!
Great place and great location.
Claire
Lovely property in a very quiet, residential area and only a 5 minute walk into Windermere. The house was spotless and had everything you could need for your stay and the flowers, wine and milk that was left was a lovely touch too. Would definitely book again and dog friendly too. The hot tub was well used after being out and about.

Rydal Mount & Gardens - LA22 9LU
about 5 Miles
Rydal Mount & Gardens are wonderfully situated between Lake Windermere and Rydal Water offering breathtaking scenery. The home of William Wordsworth from 1813 - 1850 the grand home is now lived in by the poets descendents but parts of the house and grounds are open to the public. Why not take a guided tour and see the rooms where many of the famous poems were written. The gardens are beautiful at all times of the year but in the summer offer a spectacular display of colour. There is also a gallery and a tearoom. Discounts are available for group bookings.
Ullswater Steamers - CA11 0US
about 11 Miles
This is an award winning Lake District attraction and they have been operating cruisers on Lake Ullswater for over 150 years.  There is no better way to explore the lakes than on water and you could even combine a cruise with a spectacular walk.  For great days out in this region then this attraction is highly recommended and will appeal to couples as well as families.  Corporate groups are also well catered for.
Lakeland Wildlife Oasis - LA6 1JH
about 14 Miles
Located in the Milnthorpe area of Cumbria we love this local attraction.  With an eclectic mix of fascinating wildlife and hands on displays this centre is educational as well as fun.  You can wander around at leisure admiring the exhibits which range from chameleons to computers. Some of the most threatened species are kept at the park as part if international breeding programmes.  Check out their website for the latest opening times and admission costs which are great value for money.  There are discounts for pre-booked parties of 12 or more.
South Lakes Safari Zoo - LA12 0LU
about 17 Miles

This is an amazing Cumbria attraction well known locally as well as nationally for how close you can get to the animals.  Described as the most interactive animal park in Europe it's well worth a visit if you are staying in the area.  Open from April to end October some of the highlights are the tigers, penguins, bears, hippos and rhinos.  At 2pm during certain seasons it's feeding time so don't forget to plan your day around this so you can watch the animals enjoying their feed.  Look out for seasonal events such as Halloween Zoo Boo (free entry for kids in fancy dress) and The Magic of Christmas.

Happy Mount Park - LA4 5AQ
about 21 Miles
Happy Mount Park has attractions for the whole family including several play areas, a miniature railway, crazy golf, putting green and trampolines, there is also a paddling pool where the little ones can splash around in the summer and a café where the adults can relax with a drink. During the summer months and especially during school holidays live music can often be enjoyed.
Lake District Wildlife Park - CA12 4RD
about 24 Miles
We love this day out in Cumbria where you're encouraged to "take a fresh look".  Some of the amazing animals you will get to see include the only Canadian Lynx in the UK and you will have the opportunity to help their Lynx Conservation Project.  The Asian Fishing Cat is also well worth a look - these cats are known for diving under the water and catching fish!  Other activities include fantastic flying displays and play areas for the little ones...
