Bramblings by the Lake Reviews

Sarah-jane
Lovely lodge with excellent views. It was well equipped but would benefit from new sofa coverings. Rooms really worked for us and hot tub was really appreciated. The lodge was well equipped and hot tub serviced regularly during the stay. WiFi wasnt great but view and access to the lake made this five star!
Lindsay
Bramblings was a beautiful holiday home. Tastefully kitted out and extremely comfortable. Perfect spot overlooking lake Windermere. The owner was super helpful. However, We were very disappointed with Sykes as we were having trouble with the hot tub and were unable to use it to full potential. Contacted Sykes on numerous occasions with little or no help whatsoever.. managed to get hold of the owner who guided me through. I feel Sykes not only let us down but also the owner as well.
The WiFi didnt work and when we asked at reception they just laughed and said you never get WiFi in that area. Other than that the chalet was perfect, beautiful location, clean and well equipped
Upon arrival we were very happy with the view of the lake but we were shocked when we entered the lodge it looked nothing like the photos of the settees and chairs there was awful nylon I'llfitting covers on the suite and chairs it looked absolutely awful I picked this lodge from another with a similar view because the couches looked lovely and comfortable as I had my 80 years mum with me who was not very mobile so she would be relaxing a lot. I looked underneath the covers and the furniture was stained please clean and leave these awful covers off ruins the look and comfort for guests also as other reviews have said no shelf's in bathrooms for toothbrushes etc or in shower no blinds at front of lodge or in lodge bedrooms no privacy unless you shut the curtains I had to leave curtains shut in main bedroom as people were in lodge directly behind sat on decking looking onto bedroom. Some TLC needed Basic things need attention to offer guests a better stay and the photos changing to represent how it is. I hope this is taken as constructive criticism
Excellent location beautiful lodge. Lacked shelving in main bathroom no room to store makeup. As x4 women all bedrooms also lacked storage for makeup maybe this is something you could look at? Also we need a lights near mirrors please x Lights near double doors kept tripping electricity. The online repair service was awful and I could not leave feedback as no link was attached to my booking. I did phone helpline only to go through to voicemail when I did find the number. However I went up to reception and the night reception man fixed issue. No scissors in kitchen either please replace. Otherwise we loved it and would definitely go back. Please consider well behaved dogs x Kind regards Debra
I really dont know where to start with thisbut this accommodation surpassed my expectations in terms of cleanliness, facilities and best of all, the position of being frontline on the lake!
Absolutely spot on stay here, felt like home, only downside is wish I would of taken some more towels with a hot tub
We had a fabulous stay in Bramblings by the lake, property was clean, well equipped and very comfortable . The view from the lodge was amazing and allowed us easy access to the lake with paddle board and kayak. Would definitely stay again however was very disappointed not to be able to use the hot tub for more than half of the holiday as it was not maintained daily so was unusable we waited to see if the guy would come but after another day of no show we called company who were quick to sort this out and managed to get someone to come fix it. Completely understand this was not the fault of the owner or the company we hired the lodge from but did result in us paying extra for a hot tub property that we couldnt use for the whole holiday.
Andria
Fabulous lodge, great situation, lovely view of the lake, will come again. It would be helpful if there was a cabinet or shelving in the bathroom as there is nowhere to put anything.
Andrew
A lovely property in a great location with amazing views across the lake. Very well appointed, very clean and well maintained. The hot tub was a great bonus. We all enjoyed our stay and have just booked again for next year.
Everything spot on Very clean and plenty of room
Lovely time with family in this beautiful lodge
Two friends and I have just enjoyed our second stay in Bramblings by the Lake. Whilst appreciating that the Lodge is very close to trees that shed leaves, seeds etc, this time when we arrived the outside table and balustrade were somewhat dirty. I would have appreciated if sometime had been devoted to give the outside area a wipe over and sweep up, I felt I had to do this before we could use the outside facilities, It would not stop us from rebooking the lodge in future as we enjoyed all other facilities and were very comfortable there.
Lodge was one of the best we have stayed in, location looking over the lake was absolutely perfect, hot tub a bonus, bedrooms spotless, all amenities you need r there, definitely will book again!
Rachel
An absolutely amazing lodge with amazing views . The hot tub was brilliant and the kids really enjoyed it as mush as we did .
Pauline
Perfect lodge. Perfect location. The lodge was so comfortable, views were amazing. Perfect relazing break away.
We were very disappointed to find the hot tub cold and not heating, the day we arrived was our anniversary and we has planned a celebration that evening in the lodge which we could not do. Sykes promised a maintenance person who never arrived but we worked out how to turn the heat on to the tub so we could use it Saturday afternoon, we were so disappointed that we left Sunday. Sykes were dismissive of our complaint and issue and stated terms and conditions blah blah blah we paid a lot of money for the weekend and it was spoiled. The lodge is beautiful and immaculate but we booked it for the hot tub and location to celebrate our special day and for reasons unknown to us the lodge wasn't ready and we didn't enjoy our stay as we should have.
Catherine
Excellent lodge with a lovely view
Amanda
My family and I stayed here back in October 2022 it is an absolutely stunning home! Lovely inside and out, clean and welllooked after. The hot tub was fantastic and the views were incredible. We really enjoyed our stay here and we hope to return again in the future. Thank you for having us.
Denise
The lodge is in a fantastic location and that is what you pay for. The view of the lake from the lodge must be one of the best. However, the lodge needs a few additions included to improve the holiday experience, the main one is the availability of WiFi. The lodge totally depends on the parks wifi which is currently not available across the park. The use of the smart tv is only via mobile phone data so in my view this should be made clear in the lodge details before you book!! This impacted our holiday as my daughter and soninlaw were on holiday from Australia and needed WiFi to keep in touch with family back home. The hot tub needs some TLC as its definitely showing wear and tear. My husband kept hitting his head on the extractor fan but I am only 5 foot and my problem was the fridge was too high! There were lots of spiders and spider webs around when we arrived so had to remove those with the hoover. We didnt use the park entertainment facilities as you have to pay extra and we preferred to go out. The location of the lodge is definitely its main asset but next time I would consider spending my money on a good hotel with a lake view.
Alexander
A beautiful, well equipped, comfortable lodge in an excellent setting. However, especially in the present economic climate, this lodge is way, way overpriced!!!
We would love to stay again in September we have a10 year old dog who is very ... We would love to stay again in September we have a10 year old dog who is very well behaved and not a barker like most of the dogs there we wondered if that would be possible xx
Sharon
Fabulous location in a wonderful part of the Lake District. The lodge had everything that we are used to at home. Beds very comfortable too. Washing machine did not work as we tried to dry our wetsuits and swim wear. We reported this and it was going to be attended too. Also, a few of the jets in the hot tub were not working either, which will need some attention. Apart from these couple of minor issues, we would happily book again.

Rydal Mount & Gardens - LA22 9LU
about 4 Miles
Rydal Mount & Gardens are wonderfully situated between Lake Windermere and Rydal Water offering breathtaking scenery. The home of William Wordsworth from 1813 - 1850 the grand home is now lived in by the poets descendents but parts of the house and grounds are open to the public. Why not take a guided tour and see the rooms where many of the famous poems were written. The gardens are beautiful at all times of the year but in the summer offer a spectacular display of colour. There is also a gallery and a tearoom. Discounts are available for group bookings.
Ullswater Steamers - CA11 0US
about 10 Miles
This is an award winning Lake District attraction and they have been operating cruisers on Lake Ullswater for over 150 years.  There is no better way to explore the lakes than on water and you could even combine a cruise with a spectacular walk.  For great days out in this region then this attraction is highly recommended and will appeal to couples as well as families.  Corporate groups are also well catered for.
Lakeland Wildlife Oasis - LA6 1JH
about 15 Miles
Located in the Milnthorpe area of Cumbria we love this local attraction.  With an eclectic mix of fascinating wildlife and hands on displays this centre is educational as well as fun.  You can wander around at leisure admiring the exhibits which range from chameleons to computers. Some of the most threatened species are kept at the park as part if international breeding programmes.  Check out their website for the latest opening times and admission costs which are great value for money.  There are discounts for pre-booked parties of 12 or more.
South Lakes Safari Zoo - LA12 0LU
about 18 Miles

This is an amazing Cumbria attraction well known locally as well as nationally for how close you can get to the animals.  Described as the most interactive animal park in Europe it's well worth a visit if you are staying in the area.  Open from April to end October some of the highlights are the tigers, penguins, bears, hippos and rhinos.  At 2pm during certain seasons it's feeding time so don't forget to plan your day around this so you can watch the animals enjoying their feed.  Look out for seasonal events such as Halloween Zoo Boo (free entry for kids in fancy dress) and The Magic of Christmas.

Happy Mount Park - LA4 5AQ
about 22 Miles
Happy Mount Park has attractions for the whole family including several play areas, a miniature railway, crazy golf, putting green and trampolines, there is also a paddling pool where the little ones can splash around in the summer and a café where the adults can relax with a drink. During the summer months and especially during school holidays live music can often be enjoyed.
Lake District Wildlife Park - CA12 4RD
about 23 Miles
We love this day out in Cumbria where you're encouraged to "take a fresh look".  Some of the amazing animals you will get to see include the only Canadian Lynx in the UK and you will have the opportunity to help their Lynx Conservation Project.  The Asian Fishing Cat is also well worth a look - these cats are known for diving under the water and catching fish!  Other activities include fantastic flying displays and play areas for the little ones...
