Goody Raise Reviews

Once again excellent stay at your beautiful property, goody raise it has everything you want and more, comfortable, cosy, and with excellent views, your feel so relaxed the moment you walk through the door, as an owner you should be extremely proud on what you have done to this wonderful property, We had a fantastic stay and rebooked when we where there. Thank you. John and Jane.
We have stayed several times at Goody Raise and obviously really appreciate the high quality and comfort of the house. Whilst most places were clean, I have to take issue with some of the bedrooms especially the twin. All surfaced were very dusty and had not been cleaned. Evidence of hair on the floor again suggested not enough floor cleaning. Kitchen bins were filthy albeit with bin bags in, but once removed highlighted the issue. Some kitchen cupboards had crumbs in and felt skimped. This is a very large house for one person to clean and realistically needs two cleaners not one. I dont think its the cleaners fault but you should send two people out given the time it would take to do a more thorough job. The overall comfort is great but as we have mentioned before, style of substance appears to apply to the sofas that leave you fidgeting for comfort. Im sure we will be using it again.
Fabulous property we have now stayed a couple of times. Great for good or bad weather as there is plenty of space to relax and a different view whichever window you look out of.
The cottage is beautiful in a stunning location. The only negatives were the slippery path and steps up to the cottage and the main fire not working.I appreciate the steps probably get slippery quickly but it would have been helpful if they had been cleaned before we arrived. Although we were warm, it would have been great to turn the fire on in the evenings. That said, we had a fabulous stay and would definitely recommend the cottage to others.
Rebecca
We had the most fantastic stay in this beautiful property. We really appreciated all the quality of everything, even down to the coffee cups! I so enjoyed my quiet moments reading in the beautiful garden room too. I would LOVE to know where the chairs in the garden room were purchased? Enjoyed the Sonos too. One thing to mention that I appreciate you wouldn't know about unless someone mentioned it. The smokefire alarms went off several times, in all rooms simultaneously, very randomly & on different days. Once was in the middle of the night, twice. Each time was only for a few seconds but it did disturb us. Maybe a loose connection somewhere? We had a really wonderful stay and will treasure the memories and photographs of that amazing garden view. Thankyou.
Steven
We have visited the Lake District for many years and Goody Raise is 'by far' the best property we have rented and its in our favourite location Grasmere! It's ideally placed for great walks and the bus route for getting around the Lakes, our car never left the cottage, which is what we wanted. We did not have a great week weather wise, but that's the lakes. The hot tub in the rain is a great experience. Just one comment, it would be a good idea to get a 'non slip' surface on the last step on the stairs. I would recommend Goody Raise if you want as place to relax and enjoy what the lakes has to offer no matter what the weather.
Patricia
2 things that disappointed Hot tub. Had to all get in it together as jets only worked once and not for long. Once had worked then had to wait hours for another 1015 min session. No good for couples to get in separately Problem with utility sewerage that meant we had tractors and pumping station next to the house for 3 days 247. Constant noise and vibration The house itself is amazing
We have stayed in 12 Lakelovers Properties during the last 20 years and this has been by far the most comfortable and well equipped. Beautiful garden and location. We did have problems with the TV Technology and it would have been helpful to have had some detailed instructions. The gas fire in the lounge area was difficult to ignite help was sent and the maintenance person found a way of lighting it, which differed from the instructions that were left. A lovely place to stay, we will be back! Thank You
Goody raise is a lovely place to stay and all the facility's you need and more, cosy and warm and lots of space inside the property and a lovely big garden lots of walk close by and a small stroll to the village, We like it so much we have booked again. John Jane Family.

We had a fabulous stay just before Christmas. We arrived to a blanket of snow across the Lake District and Grasmere looked picture perfect. The cottage is an excellent location in the village with easy walking distance to shops, pubs and restaurants. It has easy access to many walking routes with lots of Wainwrights to bag right off the doorstep. The cottage itself is magnificent and had everything we needed during our stay it offers real luxury, space and comfort. We could not wait to get in the hot tub after our winter walks on the high fells!
Rachel
The best holiday cottage we have ever stayed in. So beautifully presented with top quality fixtures and fittings, super comfy beds and plenty of space. Everything we needed was there and the hot tub was fantastic with the maintenance of it done with no disruption to our holiday. Having so many bathrooms was brilliant for before and after hot tub use. Beautiful garden, well kept by the very friendly gardeners we bumped into during our stay. Perfect location, just a short walk into Grasmere and a short drive to places like Ambleside and Windermere. Thank you for a great week.
Miranda
I would very much like to thank the owners for sharing their home with us, this was our 4th stay first during the summer it was magical waking and sleeping to the 360 views. The location of the house is perfect, close but not too close to Grasmere, its easy access for walking, running and cycling routes, not to mention this holiday some lake and tarn swims. We tried to book again for next year, but as expected its booked. If we had the lottery win, I would very much like to own a property like this, it would be the realisation of a dream, for now we will take two weeks in a splendid home and leave with happy memories. Would absolutely stay again and again.... Miranda Parker

This is the third time we have stayed here. It is my favourite holiday home in Grasmere. I love the position, with the fabulous views, and the house is beautiful. Beds really comfortable. House wellequipped. Only problem we had was the TV wouldn't work when it rained, and we really missed having Sky TV. I will definitely return to this property.
Very comfortable property to stay at with excellent facilities & in a great location quiet but very close to the centre of Grasmere. Very well equipped kitchen utility meant catering for our family of 5 was easy. We would definitely book it again.
Very nice house and garden in a lovely location
Fantastic modern cottage in a wonderful location, clean comfortable well equipped and very quiet fantastic. Minor points to make it an even better stay don't top up the hot tub mid week, do it Saturday on hand over as we lost use of it for a full day. Check the batteries in remote controls the DVD player didn't have any. More than 1 tea towel would help and soap in the bathrooms would be helpful or state these items are not provided in advance. A basket of wood for the stove would also have been welcome. We struggles to get 4 showers out of the hot water system. Minor points that are worth considering, none of which would stop us from returning.
Great property, loved the hot tub. Coming back in November!
Natasha
Goody Raise was a wonderful property beautifully furnished and equipped and we very much enjoyed our stay there. Perfectly situated for wandering into Grasmere or further afield. The technology at the house all worked perfectly in spite of storm Arwen! the beds were very comfortable and there was excellent water pressure in the showers.... combined with the amazing views what more could you want? Sadly our experience since Sykes have taken over was less than ideal and we were delayed being able to get in to the property due to having not been given the correct key safe code which no one seemed eager to apologise about!
Samantha
The cleaning unfortunately was not as good as normal. I've stayed in a number of Lakelovers properties and never had a problem. Here we found food still in the fridge, coffee capsules in the machine, crumbs on the work tops and also inside the carousel. There were also a lot of dead fruit flies along the worktop and window sill in the kitchen and the doors to the outside dining area were unlocked which we only picked up the next day. In view of COVID, I would have hoped for a better cleaning experience, especially as you have to vacate so early and cannot arrive now until late afternoon.
Exceptional House and gardens perfectly positioned for walking and scenery whilst close enough for Grasmere amenities. Immaculately clean and comfortable . Have been lucky enough to stay in wonderful holiday homes and this one exceeds most !! Had an amazing holiday here and definitely return when availability arises as so booked up !! But no surprise !
Goody Raise is a fantastic cottage in a wonderful location.
Our stay at Goody Raise was amazing! The cottage was beautiful both inside and out. Lakelovers kept us up to date right the way through our stay. We wanted to book for next year but already fully booked unfortunately. Would highly recommend without hesitation, thank you.
This was our second time at Goody Raise and if anything the property was even more impressive than on our first visit. Wonderful location with great views all round in the most amazing garden and the property itself very comfortable with everything one could wish for for a relaxing holiday. We hope to be back again soon!
Mr Chapman
The setting of Goody Raise was wonderful and the house and gardens were idyllic. Walking to the hills and mountains was from the door and Grasmere village was close enough to easily visit but far enough away to escape the crowds. A delightful holiday all round, thank you.
Mrs Hauxwell
The house was fabulous and it was unexpected to find a welcome basket on arrival , interior of house was tastefully decorated, the garden was stunning and so private, excellent on the hill watching the jets fly over. The two gardeners who maintain the grounds were lovely and told us about the area
The views from the house are gorgeous and the house itself is comfortable, incredibly well stocked with equipment & utilities and in such a great location. ..we loved it so much weve booked it again for next year already!
Mr Wilkinson
This was our second stay at this lovely property, the location in particular is perfect. No need to get in your car if you dont want to, some good walks from the doorstep, and a short stroll to the village.
Mr Browell
I have been coming to The Lakes for a number of years and have passed Goody Raise on our walks and decided this would be a good property for my family to stay at Christmas. What an amazing property, very luxurious and a fantastic location. I would highly recommend this property to anyone.
Mr Wilkinson
We enjoyed being in this fabulous house and garden, the views, and the location being able to walk out into the fells and around the lake without having to get in the car was wonderful and very relaxing. We have already booked again for next year.
Mrs Baker
The location, high standards within the property and the weather which was unknown for May all contributed to what was a fabulous holiday. We couldnt fault anything at all.
Mrs Fitches
Beautiful house set in interesting landscaped gardens, wonderful views and peace and quiet.

This is an award winning Lake District attraction and they have been operating cruisers on Lake Ullswater for over 150 years.  There is no better way to explore the lakes than on water and you could even combine a cruise with a spectacular walk.  For great days out in this region then this attraction is highly recommended and will appeal to couples as well as families.  Corporate groups are also well catered for.
Lake District Wildlife Park - CA12 4RD

We love this day out in Cumbria where you're encouraged to "take a fresh look".  Some of the amazing animals you will get to see include the only Canadian Lynx in the UK and you will have the opportunity to help their Lynx Conservation Project.  The Asian Fishing Cat is also well worth a look - these cats are known for diving under the water and catching fish!  Other activities include fantastic flying displays and play areas for the little ones...
South Lakes Safari Zoo - LA12 0LU
about 21 Miles

This is an amazing Cumbria attraction well known locally as well as nationally for how close you can get to the animals.  Described as the most interactive animal park in Europe it's well worth a visit if you are staying in the area.  Open from April to end October some of the highlights are the tigers, penguins, bears, hippos and rhinos.  At 2pm during certain seasons it's feeding time so don't forget to plan your day around this so you can watch the animals enjoying their feed.  Look out for seasonal events such as Halloween Zoo Boo (free entry for kids in fancy dress) and The Magic of Christmas.

Lakeland Wildlife Oasis - LA6 1JH

Located in the Milnthorpe area of Cumbria we love this local attraction.  With an eclectic mix of fascinating wildlife and hands on displays this centre is educational as well as fun.  You can wander around at leisure admiring the exhibits which range from chameleons to computers. Some of the most threatened species are kept at the park as part if international breeding programmes.  Check out their website for the latest opening times and admission costs which are great value for money.  There are discounts for pre-booked parties of 12 or more.
Happy Mount Park - LA4 5AQ
about 27 Miles
Happy Mount Park has attractions for the whole family including several play areas, a miniature railway, crazy golf, putting green and trampolines, there is also a paddling pool where the little ones can splash around in the summer and a café where the adults can relax with a drink. During the summer months and especially during school holidays live music can often be enjoyed.
Tullie House Museum & Art Gallery - CA3 8TP
about 29 Miles
This is a museum and art gallery in one and will suit those looking for an educational and cultural day out.  You can explore the fantastic art collection including Fine Art, Decorative Art and Textiles.  If you love nature then this aspect of Tullie House will appeal. The museum holds large and important collections of zoological, botanical and geological material. And for lovers of history there is plenty to wet your appetite here. Tullie House collects a wide range of historic materials including objects, ephemera (printed material), photographs and associated information files.  We think this museum and art gallery are excellent value for money as well.
