The Aspens Reviews

I would go back today beautiful place lovely welcoming hosts 5 stars all round
Darren
Absolutely immaculate property is a fantastic location . If you want peace and relaxation with superb views then this is the place to stay. Cottage is well equipped, lovely comfortable beds with luxury linen . Well equipped kitchen . Secure garden for dogs . Hot tub perfect for sitting out at night and watching the stars . Great walks from the door and only a short drive to pubs and shops .
The owners of the cottage enabled us to feel comfortable and guided us into whats what in the area. We absolutely adore the cottage and surrounding landscape. I miss the early mornings of bird watching, long walks.
Carrie
We had a lovely stay at The Aspens, it is very well maintained & lots of thought has gone into the little touches. We especially liked the bath robes & slippers to use for the hot tub & the welcome pack on arrival. It was very clean, kitchen equipment was ample & we found the beds very comfortable. We will hopefully make a return booking in the future, many thanks.
The most scenic, idylic, tranquil, peaceful setting which will leave a lasting memory. The facilities at the Aspens are excellent, everything you need is available. A fantastic place, missing the morning dog walk and sun rises! Thank you Aspens.
This was the best holiday cottage we have ever stayed in for a UK vacation. Absolutely delightful. Great location for those who want to get away from it. Beautiful wild countryside all around and total peace. But the accommodation has everything you need and the most comfortable beds. High quality bedlinen. Cosy all round with great log burner. Absolutely spot on. We will be back hopefully

Wow what find! Really is the best holiday we have booked in the UK. Absolutely stunning area, kicking ourselves we didnt find it sooner. The cottage has everything you could wish for, felt so at home and the most relaxed we have ever been on a holiday. Mandy was amazing, on hand but not intrusive if needed. The night sky from the hot tub icing on the cake, even seeing the space station. We cant wait to return! Just book it, you will not be disappointed.
Duncan
Stunning cottage in a picture postcard location. The owners have done a terrific job and have thought of everything.

We had an amazing week here for our 25th wedding anniversary. It was so peaceful and remote but with easy access with plenty of places and things to see and do or you could just walk for miles from the house. The hot tub was a definite bonus and very welcoming after a days walking. We definitely plan to return!
Christine
A very comfortable cottage in a stunning location, hot tub is a huge bonus.
We had a very good time, utterly relaxing, wonderful and generous hospitality. Everything catered for and some very special touches.
Wonderful holiday. The cottage was the best one we have ever stayed in. Mandy owner had thought of everything! I cant recommend this highly enough. 5Stars!
Trevor
Absolutely sensational and so comfortable. Who would have thought you could get away from it all and still be on our overcrowded island? The owners have thought of everything to facilitate a relaxing stay in a beautiful home. We will be back..as soon as possible!
Excellent Peaceful NY at the Aspens
Probably the best holiday cottage we have visited exactly what we were looking for. We had a wonderful stay at The Aspens. Perfect spot for a relaxing break, with every detail taken care of. Could not fault it. Looking forward to returning.
Graeme

Stunning holiday home. The owners Mandy and Mark were so helpful and friendly. You could not fault this property. Immaculate and so many lovely touches. Bath robes, slippers, welcome box, prosecco. Every last detail is thought about and the kitchen was well equipped, and spacious utility room with washer and dryer and toilet. Gorgeous bedrooms and showerrooms. Cosy lounge for cosy nights. Loved the bath in the bedroom too. Little private grassed areagarden for dogs too and hottub was immaculate. Stunning area for walks too, although we spent most of our time around the cottage relaxing in beautiful hot weather. If youre looking for total peace and quiet book The Aspens you will not be disappointed. Tracey
We have just returned from a wonderful weeks holiday at The Aspens. The Aspens stands alone surrounded by fields and meadows and has beautiful views of the countryside. Peace and tranquillity is guaranteed here well away from the world and it is totally private. The barn has been renovated and maintained to a very high standard and decorated and furnished with good taste and flair with an eye for detail. Every comfort has been catered for with luxury soft furnishings and bedding. It is immaculately clean and from the moment we arrived until the moment we left we loved every minute Being keen birdwatchers we brought a long list of birds home with us. We were greeted by a family of spotted flycatchers in the garden and we saw black grouse and three species of owl in one week locally. The roe deer with their young were especially lovely to see in forest clearings in an evening. It is also perfectly situated for walking straight from the door or for touring the pretty villages of Teesdale and surrounding moors. We didn't want to leave this cosy and welcoming place and this holiday is certainly one for our memory box. Highly recommended but please leave a place for us!!!! Amazing stay . Every detail was thought of and more from a lovely welcome pack of fresh ground coffee and Prosecco and hand made chocolates too dog biscuits and dog bowl.Beautiful surroundings .1st class interior We will be back soon .Hot tub amazing with amazing views .Cannot fault .Thanks Mandy and David. The Aspens is up there with the best holiday cottages we have used over the years. The gift pack of local produce including fresh local milk, coffee, chocolates and the all important Prosecco for our first dip in the hot tub on arrival was very much appreciated. The fully enclosed garden was perfect to allow our puppy out in the gardens to explore without any worries over escaping, despite the attractions of the local bird and rabbit population. The old stone cattle barn has been expertly upgraded both inside and out with every home comfort imaginable, with the matching stone flags both internally and externally a personal favourite. The Aspens is an excellent base for exploring the many local walks in the surrounding dales of Durham, Northumberland, Yorkshire and Cumbria, as well as for bird watching or simply relaxing in the hot tub, star gazing, if weather conditions allow. Ive never seen so many Lapwings or Oyster Catchers in one place. We would highly recommend this property as a base for a relaxing break in the country, in total seclusion, but close enough to the local amenities in Mickleton or MiddletoninTeesdale and look forward to returning in the future.
Kathryn
We had a lovely stay at this wonderful cottage. What makes it truly special is the location with no other cottages near by. The views from every window are stunning. A very tranquil place. It's a very well thought out and practical cottage. Having a generous size utility room to hang coats, a boot tray, sink and space to put our dog crate was perfect. The kitchen space was functional with kind touches of coffee, tea and chocolates and fresh milk. Added bonus was the extra fridge in the utility room as our dog is fed raw so we could bring 6 days supply and not have any issues. The bedrooms were clean and tastefully decorated with plenty of towels for the hot tub and bathing. There wasn't anything we could think of that the cottage was missing. Our pup loved the enclosed garden and spent most of her time sniffing out rabbits and having zoomies Just the most perfect holiday
This is a wonderful holiday property in an idyllic location. Lots of attention to detail and lovingly restored from its previous use as a cattle shed. At the end of a country road and overlooking Grassholme reservoir, it is completely secluded with sheep in the surrounding fields and walks across the hills right from the doorstep. We highly recommend it. Despite its remote location some lovely towns and villages are only a few miles away.
Adrian
This is a well appointed cottage surrounded by stunning scenery. We were looking for a quiet and relaxing holiday, and we found it. The facilities at the cottage are excellent, from the underfloor heating to the very comfortable sofas and beds. The two ensuite bedrooms are both a good size and the shower in the main room was excellent we only used one room but I am sure the second shower is good too. The kitchen had everything you could need including a coffee machine and wine cooler. The lounge was relaxing with good lighting, a log fire and a widescreen television. The wifi was reliable throughout. Outside, the cottage has wonderful views, and plenty of sheep with their playful lambs. The hot tub is wellmaintained and extremely inviting, with separate towels, robes and slippers provided. A welcome gift of coffees, preserves, chocolates and prosecco was much appreciated. The owner, Mandy, is friendly, helpful and welcoming but also unobtrusive. She clearly wants to ensure that guests enjoy their holidays at The Aspens, and she certainly succeeded. We have already recommended the cottage to friends and family, and intend to return for a second visit in the future.
The aspens is a beautiful place to stay. Its perfect for families and couples and has everything you could need! I cant recommend it highly enough!
The cottage was incredible, and the fantastic welcome pack lasted all week! Booking went without a hitch. It was a perfect get away for four people and even our two teenage boys said they didn't want to leave! Comfortable and warm, both in fantastic bedrooms, and throughout the downstairs, with a great kitchen and very usable utility. Snuggling up in the lounge with the fire burning was also superb chill out time. The highlight and treat for us was the hot tub, which was used regularly each evening. Beautiful views and just the level of rural remoteness we were looking for! It was so nice to meet Mandy who was very friendly and helpful. We would definitely recommend The Aspens to others.
Graham
We cannot recommend Aspens enough its a 5 star hideaway. It is situated in a beautiful tranquil area. The ambiance of the cottage and the surrounding countryside are superb!. We loved it . The cottage is very well equipped, very clean & everything you need to ensure a lovely stay. We loved listening to the birds tweeting away , rabbits hopping about & watching the sheep in near by fields grazing .Plenty of walks nearby & fresh air. Middleton in Teesdale is not too far away. The Mcfarlane Butchers are highly recommend . The Teesdale Hotel & Forrester restaurant serve excellent food & super service well worth a visit . Mandy & her team do a fantastic job , this was our second visit & we are so looking to going back soon .

Well, I almost ignored the request for feedback as I dont want to share The Aspens! It just works, the house is well thought out, luxurious and a real escape in the middle of glorious nowhere. So good were going back just three months after our first visit.
A fabulous house in a stunningly beautiful part of the country. Mandy has created a very special place in which to escape from the world, with fittings and equipment of the highest standard.

We had a lovely week in The Aspens. The house itself is in the middle of nowhere so you can have a quiet and peaceful week. Being greeted in the morning by sheep was excellent! Its wonderfully decorated and spotless and the owner is always on hand with any query at all she was really lovely. Would 100 recommend.
We thoroughly enjoyed our week in this remote & peaceful house with only sheep & cattle for neighbours. Spotlessly clean, extremely comfortable & well equipped. Wonderful countryside & views on the doorstep with the added bonus of an excellent hot tub to relax in. Pubs, cafes & well stocked food shop all within easy driving distance. Hosts were charming & very helpful. Would love to return.
Lovely clean and well equipped cottage in idyllic peaceful surroundings. Hot tub was great with a glass of fizz..... combined with dark skies for star watching it was was amazing. Welcome hamper including chocolates and prosecco was a treat. Would love to return to The Aspens.
Superb cottage in a stunning location. The cottage itself was beautifully furnished, pristine and equipped with everything you could need. It's location is outstanding, there are so many beautiful walks right from the doorstep, the dark skies when clear were literally out of this world. The hot tub was immaculate and was a welcome treat after a days walking. It's a place we'd love to return to. We a wonderful welcome basket, thank you to the owners who make this an amazing get away.
This cottage is a true countryside retreat, immaculately clean and exceeded expectations! Hot tub and views were spectacular. Had an amazing break.
The Aspens is a wonderful property. A perfect location and place to relax. Everything at the property has been so carefully thought out. Hot tub was wonderful after a long walk. Mandy was absolutely amazing. We would totally recommend staying here. We dont often want to return to holiday properties but we had such a wonderful time that we hope to return very soon. It was the perfect break.
Beautiful cottage in awesome surroundings, perfect relaxation, definitely recommend! !
The cottage was a perfect retreat, a true get away from it all in stunning surroundings. We cannot fault anything, the comfort and cleanliness were excellent, everything you could need was provided. The hot tub was amazing after a day walking and those views....., we left feeling thoroughly relaxed. The effort that Amanda & David have clearly put into this beautiful cottage to ensure a fantastic stay shows we would definitely recommend.
Deborah
The Aspens cottage is absolutely stunning. If you want a really peaceful and quiet place to stay that has all the luxuries you could wish for then the Aspens fits the bill beautifully. Even the hot tub is regularly treated for you so all you have to do is sit back and enjoy. We can't wait to return. The plus for me was to be able to enjoy the antics of the little lambs that could be seen from the long lounge window. Loved every minute and can't wait to return.

This is a recommended day out for families with young children visiting the Bedale area of Yorkshire.  Visit the farm and receive a warm welcome as well as a guided tour.  You will have the chance to bottle feed the lambs, bath a pig and handle some of the smaller animals.  Kids will love the big sandpit and the outdoor play area. There is also a cafe and indoor play area for when the weather is not on your side.
