WOW this property is just perfect for a large family. Very spacious both upstairs and down. Gorgeous property beautifully furnished throughout. A large secure garden, BBQ and jacuzzi, just perfect. The owners have really thought of everything. Games table in the garage (table tennis, pool or air hockey.) Lots of areas to eat and relax outside and a lovely summer house which we ate in and enjoyed each morning. Pretty village, ideal for local walks and exploring further afield, just amazing.

Beautiful cottage in a lovely village, this was the second time some of us stayed in North Gate House, the addition of the hot tub was a real bonus. The cottage was a perfect getaway for our family of 4 and dog along with my wifes sister and husband. The cottage is equipped with all you will ever need, a TV in every room (great for our teenagers) and a fantastic fully enclosed garden which allowed our dog to be safe. All bedrooms have more than enough storage with the 2 masters a great size wit h unbelievable baths! The hot tub was a perfect way to unwind as well after a day exploring. The village has lots of food options.

We go away about 4 times a year with 2 dogs and its unusual to get this level of comfort where animals are allowed . We had a great time at North Gate House, Middleham and the surrounding area. The cottage was really spacious and the kitchen was especially well equipped for self-catering. Everything was 'generous' including towels, bedding, toiletries, a freezer and fridges galore! And everything spotlessly clean. The garden was equally well equipped and our only regret was that the weather meant that we only managed one BarBQ! We would recommend to all our friends after a holiday in the Yorkshire Dales.

This is a recommended day out for families with young children visiting the Bedale area of Yorkshire. Visit the farm and receive a warm welcome as well as a guided tour. You will have the chance to bottle feed the lambs, bath a pig and handle some of the smaller animals. Kids will love the big sandpit and the outdoor play area. There is also a cafe and indoor play area for when the weather is not on your side.

Lightwater Valley - HG4 3HT

Situated in the Ripon area of North Yorkshire this popular theme park makes a fantastic day out for the whole family. The more daring will love the big and thrilling rides such as Raptor Attack, The Ultimate and Trauma Tower. For the little ones there are some excellent attractions such as Flying Camels, Dodgems and a Magic Wheel. Toddlers will like the Dragon Boats and the Lightwater Express amongst other things. There are over 40 rides and attractions in total and we think this is excellent value for money too. If you book your tickets in advance online you can save even more money and beat the queues.

Fountains Abbey - HG4 3DY

about 14 Miles

This is an outstanding world heritage site located close to Ripon in the North Yorkshire area. Nature lovers will be in their element with an abundance of wide open spaces to explore and there are special guided tours for families. Some of the highlights may include seeing wild deer and bats during your visit. The grounds are fantastic to wander round but there is also an Elizabethan Mansion, Victorian Church, Georgian Water Garden and the finest example of Cistercian Abbey ruins in the country - Well worth a visit!
