The Old Police Cottage is a lovely, quirky and cosy place to stay, so handily placed for the villages many pubs. The hot tub takes a bit of getting in and out of as it's quite snuggley fitted into the small yard but overall a very enjoyable stay.

This is a lovely, clean little cottage amid gorgeous local amenities. Locals were about the most friendly of all the places I have travelled. There was a surprise Welcome Basket which was warmly received. We contacted the hosts in advance to check that Pets Welcome could include a cat and she settled in very well.

Very clean, modern little cottage but some rooms a bit tight for space (mainly kitchen and bathroom). Great location for all amenities and lovely walks, however, no outside space at all besides hot tub!
Mark
A beautiful, characterful and cosy cottage - an ideal getaway. The hot tub is great, as is the bath - relax! Well-equipped kitchen, but if you don't fancy cooking yourself quality food and drink are just minutes of a walk away.

We had a fantastic week at "The Old Police Cottage". The cottage was comfortable and made an excellent base for exploring the area. My wife and I stayed The Old Police Cottage in Great Ayton as a "last minute booking" for 4 nights. The hosts were very informative before arrival recommending old sorts to do from local walks, pubs and restaurants, and places to visit locally and all of this information was very useful to us. The cottage was very clean ideally sized for 2 people, had the added bonus of the hot tub to relax at the end of each and was in a great location in the centre of the beautiful village of Great Ayton.
Garry
Great cottage in a great location. Would stay here again
Anthony

Carly
A lovely well equipped cottage in nice village with interesting history, short drive to beaches, plenty of local shops/cafes/pubs all really friendly and serving great food and drink.
Craig
A lovely cottage, located in a beautiful village. The cottage has everything you need and there are some lovely eating (and drinking) places within a short walk, along with nice local shops. Great Ayton is in an ideal location for exploring the surrounding area, with Saltburn our favourite. Good communication and helpful advice from our hosts, incl uding a nice welcome hamper.
Gary
The cottage is quite small and has very limited outside space but on the whole it is very comfortable, tidy and pleasant. The village is lovely and has everything you need within an easy 5 min walk. The owners also shared some great tips for food, drinks and local placed to visit which was a lovely touch.
Kenneth
The cottage is lovely and well equipped. The hot tub clean and cosy for two people. The village is good with local amenities available. Nice walks and dog friendly in some public houses. Not too far to get to the coast. Saltburn by the sea is worth a visit. Great big long sandy beach and dog friendly.
Nigel
Beautiful little cottage in a beautiful idyllic part of the country
Susan
Despite the few comments above (which are easily rectified) this is a cottage of a high standard - very attractively presented with all important mod-cons!. Great Ayton is a really nice place with good facilities and close to several attractive areas to visit plus the opportunity for many walks in glorious country-side. I would definitely recommend this holiday cottage and may well use it again.

Big Sheep - EX39 5AP
about 22 Miles
This is a recommended day out for families with young children visiting the Bedale area of Yorkshire.  Visit the farm and receive a warm welcome as well as a guided tour.  You will have the chance to bottle feed the lambs, bath a pig and handle some of the smaller animals.  Kids will love the big sandpit and the outdoor play area. There is also a cafe and indoor play area for when the weather is not on your side.
Flamingo Land - YO60 7EW
about 23 Miles
Situated in Malton in North Yorkshire this has to be one of our favourite family days out.  It's a theme park and zoo all in one stretching over a massive 400 acres. With thrilling rides for the very daring like Cliff Hanger, Corkscrew and Kumali, there are also more gentle rides for the little ones such as Frog Hopper and Helitoys.  Family fun attractions include the 4D cinema, the lost river ride and the Little Monsters Den of Mischief. Check out their website for seasonal events which take place throughout the year and you can also gain more information about the zoo.  Flamingo Land is a resort as well as a theme park so you can also book accommodation there.
Yorkshire Lavender - YO60 6PB
about 25 Miles
Yorkshire Lavender is an amazing award winning attraction offering breathtaking panoramic views of York, a Café, Plant Nursery and Lavender Gardens. The 60 acre site is set in an area of outstanding natural beauty and is an excellent choice for a day trip. The onsite shops sells Lavender products such as bath and body treats, skincare, medicine and herbal remedies.
Lightwater Valley - HG4 3HT
about 26 Miles
Situated in the Ripon area of North Yorkshire this popular theme park makes a fantastic day out for the whole family.  The more daring will love the big and thrilling rides such as Raptor Attack, The Ultimate and Trauma Tower.  For the little ones there are some excellent attractions such as Flying Camels, Dodgems and a Magic Wheel.  Toddlers will like the Dragon Boats and the Lightwater Express amongst other things. There are over 40 rides and attractions in total and we think this is excellent value for money too.  If you book your tickets in advance online you can save even more money and beat the queues.
The Grainary Wildlife Farm - YO25 3HS
about 26 Miles
Located in Harwood Dale Village, North Yorkshire we think this attraction makes a superb family day out and couples will also enjoy the nature walks in the area.  There are 6 nature walks in total surrounding the farm so walkers and lovers of the outdoors will be in their element. Some of our favourite walks include the Spring Flowers, Pond and Village walk which takes around 35 minutes, and the Meadow and Trees walk which takes one hour.
Castle Howard - YO60 7DA
about 27 Miles
Castle Howard is one of the regions most beautiful and historic landmarks and is located in 1,000 acres of parkland with breathtaking gardens to explore. As well as exploring the castle visitors can enjoy attractios including the unique Land Train - the best way to see the entire park. There is also a large lake offering boat trips during the summer months. In high season the site is very popular with families and offers organised activities for children including tours, talks, crafting and animal encounters. The site also has a Nature Trail which is fun for the whole family and an Adventure Playground where children can run off some energy.
