Hillfield House Reviews

Oliver
We really enjoyed our stay at this farm! My nephews are obsessed with tractors and cows, so this place was perfect for them. The owners were super friendly and always nearby if we needed anything. Watching the cows being milked at the end of the drive was a lovely sight for the kids. The cottage had plenty of equipment, comfy bedsand lots of space. Just a heads up, the Wi-Fi is pretty weakand there’s some mud and insects around, but that’s all part of the countryside experience. We’re definitely coming back!

Unfortunately, our internet was down the entire week, so we had to rely on the local library, which was a bit of a hassle. The place felt more like a 3-star than a 4-star, especially when compared to other Holiday Cottages we've stayed in-less clean and not as well-equipped. On the bright side, the hot tub was lovely and the location is nice. We recommend The Globe Inn in Sampford Peverell for a great evening meal, though!
James
We had a lovely stay overall! The hot tub was a real highlightand the views in the sunshine were stunning. The place is spacious, especially the rooms and the downstairs wet room-best shower we've had in ages. Parking was a doddle, fitting five cars easily. The only down side was the Xbox 360, which didn’t work at all-controllers were broken and the disk tray wouldn’t open. Still, the farm location was pretty cool, even if the smell was sometimes a bit off. Would definitely come back!
Emma
The cottage felt really cosy and had everything we needed. The tennis court was okay, but the lines could do with a repaint.
Emma
Very cosy place, spotless and super comfy!
James
Roomy house with breathtaking views, perfect for unwinding.

What a lovely stay! The internet was non existent for the first few days and then a bit hit and miss after that, but that turned out to be a blessing in disguise. We ended up playing family games and having loads of quality time together. There was a small issue with a bed when we got there, but the owners sorted it out quicklyand honestly, they were just lovely. It was great to see the cows coming down to be milked every day. All in all, we had a fab stay and would definitely love to come back again.
Clara
We had a lovely time at this cottage! It’s in a nice quiet location with some great walks nearby, plus it's close to Tiverton. The cottage itself is detached and has plenty of generous sized rooms and loads of parking. We really enjoyed the hot tuband we were pleasantly surprised by the big lawned area that we didn't expect!
Clara
Great house with a hot tub! But it’s right on a working farm, so it can get noisy early in the mornings. It's really remote. The house could use some upgrades, especially the windows, which were quite draughty. However, it was the perfect house for our large family Christmas get-together with loads of parkingand we genuinely enjoyed it.
Emily
We had a fantastic holiday! The hot tub was just brilliant and we absolutely loved having access to the tennis court too.
Emily
This house is spacious and a lovely place to stay, plus the hot tub is fab and there are TVs in all the bedrooms. It's perfect for multigenerational holidays. The kitchen is well equippedand the host is really welcoming. On the downside, the aga doesn’t work anymoreand the Wifi can be a bit patchy. You can only stream on one TV at a time, which can be tricky if others are using devices too. Just remember, it’s a working farm nearby, so get ready for the smells and sounds that come with that. Also, do follow the host’s instructions. Note that Apple Maps can lead you down a less suitable road if you’ve got a low car!
Lucy
If you adore the countryside, this is definitely the holiday spot for you. It’s located on a working farmand the kids really enjoyed watching the cows come down to be milked. The property has everything you need and is safe for the little ones. The hot tub was a massive hit for the adults to relax in at the end of the day while gazing at the stunning night skies you can see here!
Rachel
What a beautiful house! The hot tub was lovely and perfect to unwind in. Just be a bit careful on that concrete road, it can be a bit of a challenge, but overall a great stay!
James
Situated in a lovely rural area, this place feels more like a house than a cottage. It’s incredibly comfortable with a spacious kitchen and dining area that we absolutely loved using!
Emma
We had a spacious house that was really comfortable. It made for a lovely relaxing stay. The hot tub was a fantastic bonus! Just a tip, make sure you follow the instructions on how to get there instead of using sat nav, otherwise there's no chance of not getting lost.
Mark
This property is ideal for a large family or a small group of adults. The well equipped kitchen area with dining and living space was fantastic for entertaining and cooking our meals. The outdoor space is really good with brilliant viewsand there’s a good sized lawn for games, plus the tennis court is a lovely bonus. The hot tub was excellent and we used it most days. All the bedrooms were of a good size. Location is spot on with access to the moors and both north and south Devon beaches within an hour.
Emma
We really enjoyed our time at the cottage, which had plenty of room for our big group. It was so nice to see the cows every day! Unfortunately, the weather wasn’t great so we couldn’t fully take advantage of the outdoor space.
Angela
If you like peace and quiet in the middle of nowhere this house is perfect for you. The views are breathtaking and you really do relax once youre there. We didnt find the cows a problem , we loved them and you adjust to the smell after a few days. The owners were so nice and welcoming, they even found time to chat to us. The house was well equipped and a good size of 7 of us. We made the most of the tennis courts and hot tub. Flies can be a pain ( especially in summer) but you are on a farm.
Simon
We finally went on this break after having to postpone twice because of Covidand it was definitely worth the wait! The accommodation had everything you could possibly need for a great week away and loads of space for us, our three adult kids and their partners, plus our little dog. The private hot tub and shared access to the tennis court were such a fun part of our stay. We used the property as a base to explore some new spots and revisit a few old favourites a bit further away.
Lucy
We absolutely loved this house, it was immaculate! Anything and everything we needed for cooking, laundry etc was there at the property. It was so spacious and just a delight to be in, brilliant for sunny days and just as good when the weather isn’t so good. There was so much space, we never felt like we were on top of each other! We made full use of the tennis court and the hot tub! Our little ones enjoyed watching the cows as they came back up the lane after milking! We'll definitely be returning!
