Set in a lovely location and Tony is a very friendly host. Games room was a real bonus as we had a couple of wet days. Made plenty of use of the hot tub. The accommodation will take four. The upstairs room had single beds and a toilet and wash basin. The only shower was in the master en-suite. We were a party of three and it wasn't a problem. Kitch en was functional and well equipped and lounge was comfortable. Free WiFi. We would highly recommend.

Monks Retreat is a lovely place to stay. There is everything you need. The area is very peaceful yet only a short drive into Holsworthy or Bude. We were very grateful for the opportunity to exercise our dog on the farm. The only thing to note is that the garden is enclosed but not secure. The hot tub was a lovely treat and there is also a barbeque provided. The owner is very friendly. We would highly recommend Monks Retreat.
Martin
A friendly welcome awaited us at a lovely well equipped property. Miles from anywhere just what we wantedpeace and tranquility. Yet only 15/20 minutes to the many dog friendly beaches around Bude. There are plenty of places to eat .tea and cake at Sip and Sea at Northcott, The Olive Tree by Bude Canal. Acres of farm land to wander aboutwish we were there for longer.

A beautify cottage in a beat setting, close enough to drive to amenities but far enough out to switch off and relax. Very peaceful. Cottage well equipped and very cosy. Owners very friendly. The pony, 2 donkeys and chickens made it perfect for my Mum.

The cottage was clean, well equipped with comfy beds. We slept so well because it was so quiet and peaceful. The hot tub was very clean and always ready for us. The owner is around if needed but not in your face. The pool table in the games room was a massive bonus. Very good value for money all in all. Would suit 4 adults or 2 adults and 2 childre n. Located perfectly for exploring both Devon and Cornwall. Highly recommend.

Great cottage and a lovely welcome from owner Tony who had gone the extra mile of decorating the house for our Anniversary. Immediately felt very comfortable and "at home". Thoroughly enjoyed the hot tub and games room and the fact there was not a long list of do's and dont's. Thank you Tony (and your son for the tow!)
Mira
The cottage is in quite and remote location, which was lovely and we have enjoyed that. The owner and his daughter were very friendly and welcoming. There was a tasty lemon cake in the kitchen waiting for us on our arrival. We've really enjoyed venturing out and about and after jumping into the hot tub. We have also made a good use of the games roo m especially on some rainy days. We have thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Definitely recommend it.

The cottage is spacious, clean and in a nice rural location set on a farm. Perfect place to shut off from the world and enjoy some peace and quiet. No wifi was actually good to escape the digital distractions and the hot tub was just perfect looking out on to open field. A real oasis.
Caroline
Very clean cottage with lovely friendly and very helpful hosts. Shame Pyworthy pub not dog friendly. Bude was great with many independent shops. Cottage a little remote but lovely and quiet. Hot tub fantastic. Great holiday. Thank you.
Tracy
A lovely cottage, clean and comfortable. Limited storage for clothes as no wardrobe upstairs and one mirror and limited to wear you can dry your hair. Hot tub was a hit with the teenagers and also the games room. Great if it rained but luckily we had dry weather. No walking distance to pub or shops, definitely have to drive everywhere and wifi/mobi le signal terrible. No point taking the firestick need to take plenty of DVDs if you like to have a drink and stay at home.

I would not rate this cottage as 4 star in comparison with other holiday cottages that we have stayed at. Do not be fooled there is no Wifi and you have limited 3G on any mobile device. The accommodation is very tired and in desperate need of updating, the rugs and carpets have definitely seen better days. Strong smell of damp in bedrooms and bathr oom. No Covid policy / instructions. No local information or ability to access any. Overall very disappointed with quality of accommodation.
