The Snug Reviews

Kind of made a mistake booking, did not read reviews accurately first then when I tried to cancel it I realised you lose the 200 deposit. The location is good Cambourne itself isnt nice, but it is really close to hayle st Ives parran porth and Newquay. The hot tub is fab and the outside bit is nice. The place is clean, but as stated it is very very small. I have multiple bruises from the stair case Im 5ft 6 and 12 stone and if your much bigger you would struggle to get up and down them I think. You cant really chill out in the evening times unless you go and lay in the bed. I know its small, but would be so much better to have a small corner comfy sofa made or something where you can relax rather than just sitting on the two chairs. We purchased food for the first night and as we went to cook it the oven didnt work it kept tripping the electric every time we turned it on therefore we had to throw the food we had bought. We did contact Sykes but only got a response the day we were leaving. Also would have been nice to be able to put the heating on at night especially to dry wet clothes as our clothes got wet from rain. We still had a good holiday, but I wouldnt stay again and wouldnt book with Sykes.
Danielle
The heating was left on after trying to contact someone to turn it off as there ... The heating was left on after trying to contact someone to turn it off as there was no were within the snug to be able to we left after 2 days as it was unbearable to stay in such a small place on the hottest days of the summer with the heating on full ruined our honeymoon asked for a part refund and was told they left a tiny fan and because Id put it back in the box said we hadnt used it
On the website the pictures make it look a lot bigger than what it actually is, it defiantly isn't spacious enough for two plus a pet. The stairs are dangerous in them selves and don't suit everybody. Unfortunately didn't enjoy our stay and ended up leaving a day early
Claire
The size of the property wasnt an issue for us, we were more concerned with the area and being close to shops and pubs etc so it was perfect for us. . the only down side that so many have said and I was hoping would have been rectified was the umbrella for the hot tub the garden is very overlooked and a umbrella would have helped for us to feel more comfortable but we were on honeymoon and the hot tub was another reason we booked the snug so made the best of it and still used it
Everything was fine but the parking situation with the current guests who share the driveway was a bit annoying. Both guests would park awkwardly leaving me blocked in or having to wait until they left before I could leave. On my final morning I was then woken up to move my car at 7am as I had blocked them in having been blocked in all week. I wasnt really happy with this as it couldve been resolved if they simply made use of the full driveway. If you could feedback to future guests to park appropriately this wouldve been avoided.
The place its self, I can not fault, was right location for me to travel about & I did some miles in 1 week. Lovely welcome pack. Hot tub was the deal breaker for me after a days out in Cornwall to come back & relax & unwind, a bit more privacy would have been nice. Did get a little chilly on a few nights & could have done with the heating coming on but couldnt find a thermostat to make it work. The one issue is the tv signal, tv upstairs kept freezing and to get to the plug to reset it was difficult. Bed super comfy. Decor lovely. Maybe a fresh lick of paint but an amazing & lovely place to stay.
Maggie
I think square footage would be helpful in the listing, no place to hang two sets of towels,no place to hang coats, very tricky stairs. Very very very small property. Apart from it being tiny it was clean, and it fit it's description.
Nicola
We had a lovely stay. We had booked it to see family we hadn't seen for ages and the staff were helpful in allowing us two more chairs and cups, so they could sit with us and chat. We loved the place and will enjoy a return to Cornwall once the roadworks are done!
Andrew
Private hot tub is a joke with 9 windows overlooking it in a terraced back yard. Parasol to make it private was broken and has been since Oct 22 according to other reviews. The hot tub was one of the main reasons we booked the Snug, we were very disappointed to find it so overlooked, we felt very much on show. The pictures make it look as though it is not overlooked at all. Also you cannot use the hot tub after 10pm due to noise restrictions, this was not mentioned when we reviewed the Snug to book. There is nowhere to hang wet swimming costumes when you come out of the hot tub, or coats. This could be easily sorted with a coat rack next to the bathroom door. Advertised as a self catering apartment, very difficult when the so called fridge is a drinks chiller which struggled to keep drinks cool let alone milk, butter or any other food. We had to eat out everyday which adds significantly to the cost of a holiday. This could easily be rectified by putting a small fridge under the stairs. Fire alarm went off due to people in another flat burning food, tried to ring emergency contact number to have the fire alarm turned off, only to find the phone number was incorrect, which was quite stressful and inconvenient. We rang the daytime office number twice to complain about these problems, and twice we were promised a phone call back which never happened. We came home a day early as we couldn't stay there any longer. This was our honeymoon and our only time away this year totally ruined by the Snug being misrepresented and the photo's being misleading. I would like our money back or at least part of it as we feel robbed of a holiday. I would not book through Sykes Cottages again.
Jessica
Snug definitely describes this place! On the smaller end but perfect for a couple to get away. Nice and clean and in a nice area.
Had such a lovely stay. The hot tub really made the stay for us and we enjoyed that very much. We also felt that we had lots of privacy when there and that it was small but comfortable.
Really good stay everything was as it was listed, we were really happy with our stay at The Snug, hot tub was nice and hot it was perfect for the 2 of us. The parasol in the garden didnt work to give us more privacy but it wasnt an issue to us.
Perfect getaway for couples. Bed was incredibly comfortable and hot tub was an amazing feature. All pots and pans provided as well as utensils and plates etc. only issue is the fridge was very small however not a deal breaker. Staircase is very tight as listed but once again not an issue. Overall a nice place to stay for a few quiet nights away.
Bethany
Lovely place Nice welcoming with some goodies when we arrived clean and tidy and was proper snug! Hot tub was gorgeous too, enjoyed our stay Wasnt happy about the camera facing on the hot tub as felt I had no privacy. The outside light kept flickering also.
Bonita
Unfortunately, the hot tub didn't work from day one of my arrivals. I contacted the owner at the email address provided but didn't get a response, so contact Sykes and they managed to sort it out 2 days before I was due to leave, which would have only left me with 1 day of being able to use it as it takes 24 hours to heat up. The Snug itself was cute very very small, and not really suitable for anyone tall or a bit larger due to the very narrow spiral staircase. The kitchenlounge had a little bench which was not comfortable to sit on so I ended up staying in the bedroom area during my stay. As the bedroom was in the 'attic' area I had to crouch to get on the bed as the wall was very narrow. I'd recommend this place for a very short stay as it's not somewhere where you can get fully comfortable. The garden area is very big and secure if you bring your dog. Also if the hot tub was usable during my stay there isn't any privacy due to the umbrella being broken.
Steven
Excellent place to stay with those additional extras. Excellent service throughout
Jessica
The property was amazing! Lovely welcome package, and products. Amazing location! We stayed for a week and could not of asked for a better stay!
Nicole
The stairs moved a bit whilst going up and down, stairs so tight had bruises all down my legs , the photos make it look bigger than it is , there's no privacy in the hot tub in photos it doesn't show the windows looking down on the hot tub, There was no WiFi which was advertised and the Netflix was temperamental and the TV wouldn't turn off ,had to switch off by plug The sofa can only really fit one person . The heating was on most of the time was like a sauna , You can here next door guests through wall, And one of the towels had lots of holes in it. A suggestion for the owner would be to put a gazebo over the hot tub and a slightly bigger sofa and advertise correctly The only things that were positive was the lovely welcome package, in both downstairs on table ,upstairs on the bed ,the shower was lovely size , the kitchen was good considering the size of snug . And the hot tub was amazing , And the bedroom was stunning I'd say if you were to stay here you'd need to be skinny and single unfortunately it's not suitable for even 2 people
